Pure radical left garbage. Actually you’re reading from the anti-Semitic song sheet passed around universities across North America. It’s a way of reframing Canada as a settler colonial bastion of oppression instead of being one of the world’s most accepting and tolerant countries. It’s worse than exaggerating; it’s a narrative used today to justify terrorism, anti-Semitism, and extortion of people who had nothing to do with injustices of the past who happen to have been born white. It’s called discrimination on the basis of race. Who knew that it would be the left that would re-establish racism and antisemitism? I’ve learned a lot about reality these last few years.2 points

What a load of rubbish. Canada handled Indigenous affairs better than the Americans, Australia, and probably anywhere else. No Wounded Knee massacres, no bounty hunters. The French lived among the Hurons; the Brits fought alongside the Iroquois and made Brant a Captain. No Manifest ;Destiny. The Brits tried to establish an Indian territory with Tecumseh in the Ohio Valley. The Residential School system was set up by progressives as a way to provide literacy and public education, and yes, to “civilize” Indigenous who lived under harsh conditions relative to the settlers. It had problems but all cultures warred and fought and had conquests. How do you preserve native cultures? Let me guess, through reservations, treaties, and government funding. The very ingredients of preservation are also the ingredients of oppression. The assimilation versus preservation debate remains unresolved because no one can resist or ward off human development for long. Stop pretending Indigenous are so victimized. They certainly get more freebies than any group by far. Bad shit happened to lots of people in the past, some more than others, but no one alive today caused any of it. How much does Bob’s Pakistani-Canadian wife owe buddy on the reserve? Taxpayers already pay for health, education, social services, and much infrastructure for Indigenous who don’t pay taxes, have free land, and don’t pay for university. Gimme a break. The extortion has to stop.2 points

People are using natural gas furnaces and driving their cars because that is a necessity of life. It is very inconsiderate and harmful to Canadians to tax them for just living. Who could turn their temperature down in their home in a cold country like Canada? It is an insane demand by Trudeau and others. Do you think Trudeau turned the heat down in his offices and home? Not a chance. Trudeau constantly accuses ordinary Canadians of polluting, Canadians who are just trying to live their life and make ends meet. He constantly claims the carbon tax is fighting pollution, which is the biggest lie of the century. He flies around the world constantly in a government jet, emitting huge amounts of CO2 and thinks nothing of it. This is hypocrisy. He is currently off on a jaunt to a conference of the organization of Americas. Also, man cannot control the climate and nothing will change that fact. Man only contributes a tiny amount of the total CO2. 97% of CO2 is natural emitting. All humans emit CO2 when they breath. Would Trudeau call humans polluters. Probably. According to Trudeau and Guilbeault, humans are the problem. They worship Mother Earth. This is an idol and false god. Humans are not the problem. The problem in this country is the people who do not understand all this climate change alarmism and environmental radicalism (Guilbault is a known radical from Greenpeace who climbed a building illegally in Toronto).2 points

They’re knowledge keepers of capitalist opportunism, using victim rhetoric and the art of persuasion (media campaigns or advertising) to accumulate property and wealth. This rhetoric will persist no matter how wealthy and privileged the Indigenous become. They will always be able to say that the government isn’t living up to the recommendations of the TRC because those recommendations, if followed, would bankrupt Canada and create a Saudi elite who are required to do nothing strictly on the basis of a racial claim to have been on the territory first. Treaties have their privileges and stories are powerful. Only very stupid, gullible people would lay down and accept such terms, but it doesn’t matter. Even if all demands are met, it will never be enough because it pays to claim victimhood rather than be a reconciled partner. Do I think many Indigenous will move on eventually from dependence? Hopefully, but maybe not. Emotional blackmail is probably eternal.2 points

Remember when loonies had to stand on the street corner to spout their prophecies? I guess that they all came inside and went on the internet when it got cold, because suddenly they're all over the place at Repolitics. We've always had our share, but it's like the corner of 12 Yr Old Ave and Batshit Crazy Lane right now. Is it the wars that's driving people nuts? Are these wars emboldening the nuts we already had all around us, so it's a big coming out party? Please join me in welcoming the aliens to earth to be our new masters. We'll make great pets.1 point

Don't be so gloomy. In twenty-four months we will have a new Prime Minister and no carbon tax to drag you down. On the other hand, we will still have to pay our taxes. It costs money to run a government. I'm sure I must have said something you misconstrued to give you the impression I believed a tax on fossil fuels would solve climate change on it's own. What I did say is we have to stop burning coal and oil. If we raised the carbon tax to $25 a litre, it would have an effect. It still wouldn't be what oil and coal are actually worth over the long term, but it would force us to look at the viable alternatives. We can get off carbon with the technology and capital we have now, and be even more prosperous, but we are leaving it too late. I get the impression you, have no appreciation of what global warming will mean to future generations.1 point

You are correct. I took military history, which, while very entertaining, has nothing to do with the important issues we face. Therefore, I listen to people who are educated, ie. physicists, chemists, virologists geographers and biologists. I can expound at length on the Sukhomlinov Effect, or why people who lived in northern Europe suddenly needed to move south, across the Roman frontier and why the Roman Legions were suddenly unable to resist the incursion. Whoopee. When a climatologist with decades of research behind him, says the rapid build up of greenhouse gases is going to cause the global climate to heat up faster than natural processes can adapt, I take note. When most other experienced climatologists say the same thing, with further support from physicists, I listen. When Steven Hawking says all these scientists are correct, I'm sold. They know what they are talking about. Some lawyer or unknown person on the internet tells me something to the contrary, who am I supposed to believe? The climate change deniers are worried about the economy. What king of economy are people going to have when the global temperature is 15 degrees C warmer and climbing? The carbon tax was brought in to encourage people to listen to what is coming and act. Unfortunately, there are always people trying to sell a book saying the smartest people, the people who actually know what they are talking about, are just a bunch of "lefties." Sorry, but you are telling me, a life long conservative activist, that all the smart people are leftists. So, are you suggesting conservatives are stupid? That is what it sounds like. I disagree. By the way, the price of gas has dropped from $1.74 to $1.42 since the summer.1 point

Canada has sunk very low on many issues. The list is so long. Just pick a subject. Trudeau's superiority in saying there will absolutely be NO MORE CARVEOUTs of the carbon tax just proves his arrogance. He could care less about Canadians. The only reason he gave a break to the Atlantic provinces is because Liberal voters in that area were turning against him. Everything he does is geared to the next election. But he has made grave mistakes and has gone down in the polls a long way. But never underestimate the cunning abilities of liberal politicians. We can be sure they are scheming for the next election and will have something up their sleeve.1 point

The purpose of the carbon tax is to get people to reduce their carbon emissions. If we refuse to make the sacrifice, the losers will be future generations. We are using up the petroleum and coal that belongs to future generations. We are also pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere at a rate rarely seen in the past. It is our decendents who are going to suffer. So, Mr. Poilievre has a choice if he eliminates the carbon tax. 1. Rationing. Rationing is complicated and difficult to enforce. 2. Cap the production and importation of coal, petroleum fuel products and natural gas to 1995 levels with an annual reduction of 5%. 3. Start building nuclear power plants in Canada and around the world. Those uneducated irrational anti-nuke groups will fade away when February rolls around and they have already used up the annual allowance of fossil fuel. Pierre Poilievre isn't stupid, nor is he evil, so he is already mulling over how he is going to get our carbon emissions down. It just isn't a policy you want to campaign on.1 point

Point is "its OK to kill 10 times as many Palestinian men, women and children"? "the atrocity on Oct 7" be retaliated by killing more than 10 times the amount of men women, children and babies? That is justified? I could not care less if they wipe each other out but, to condemn one party without condemning the other is hypocrisy at its worst.1 point

The irony of Canada being soft on terrorism is that the terrorist-led country of Gaza doesn’t respect Canada. Canada is a country run by equity activists who are enabled by too many dim and cowardly people. Canada is down the list in the pecking order, and smaller countries are getting more pull. Project weakness and suffer the consequences. Also, Trudeau has sold out Canada. He and his activist friends have labeled Canada settler-colonialist, which undermines Canada’s stature. This is the fruit of all the identity politics fluff Canada has peddled for the past several years.1 point

Do you propose that Israel take a one for one approach to dealing with terrorist Hamas? Should the atrocity on Oct 7 be repeated by Israel on Hamas civilians? There is no moral equivalence here between what Hamas did and the response of the IDF.1 point

This is how Poilievre will deal with liberal reporters. Their stupidity gets highlighted! ? REPORTER: In terms of your strategy currently, you're obviously taking the populist pathway. PIERRE POLIEVRE: What does that mean? REPORTER: Well, appealing to peoples' more emotional levels, I would guess. POLIEVRE: What does that mean? Give me an example. REPORTER: Certainly you tap very strong ideological language quite frequently. POLIEVRE: Like what? REPORTER: Uh, left-wing this and that, right-wing -- POLIEVRE: I never really talk about left and right, I don't really believe in that. REPORTER: A lot of people would say that you're simply taking a page out of the Donald Trump book. POLIEVRE: Which people would say that? REPORTER: Well, I'm sure a great many Canadians. POLIEVRE: Like who? REPORTER: I don't know who. POLIEVRE: Well you're the one who asked the question. So you must know somebody? REPORTER: I'm sure there's some out there but the point of this question is, why should Canadians trust you with their vote, given, you know, not just the sort of ideological implications of taking the page out of Donald Trump's book-- POLIEVRE: What are you talking about? What page? Give me the page. You keep saying that. REPORTER: In terms of taking things quite dramatically, in terms of Trudeau and the left-wing and all of this, you make quite, as you know, it's quite a play. POLIEVRE: I don't know what your question is. REPORTER: Then forget that, why should Canadians trust you with their vote? POLIEVRE: Common sense. Common sense for a change. We're going to make common sense common in this country. We don't have any common sense i the current government. The guy prints $600 billion and grows our money supply by 32% in three years, that's growing the money eight times faster than the economy. No wonder we have the worst inflation in four decades. I'm going to cap spending, and cut waste, so we can balance the budget and bring down inflation and interest rates. Do you want to be able to pay your mortgage again? Do you want to be able to afford rent? Then you have to vote for Pierre Poilievre because I am the only one with a common sense plan that will bring back the buying power of your paycheck. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2023/10/17/pierre_poilievre_dismantles_reporters_ego_while_eating_an_apple_i_dont_know_what_your_question_is.html1 point

Yes we can disagree. But then again...we possess common sense and value tangible positive results. What do Libbies cling to? Something they call "social justice". But is it justice? Any of it? From where I'm sitting it looks more like a fascist mentality. And as with these latest "protests", they purposely push past any moral or reasonable boundary, daring someone to cross them. Eventually...someone will respond in force...and these spineless worms will cower and scream for protection from police who know they hate their guts. Society is approaching a boiling point. There will be no solution to Arab-Israeli conflict or the Middle East issues as a whole as lonfg as the the Islamic Republic in Iran is in power. They are the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the world esprcially in the Middle East. The West must find the balls to work with Israel to help Iranian people currently in the middle of Woman Life Freedom revolution to topple these fu*king mullahs (Not by military intervention though). Iranians are not Arabs and after 45 years of Islamic dictatorship they have turned against that backward religion. The want equality for women, life to live and freedom to live it (that is where Woman, Life, Freedom comes from), but the West must stop helping the mullahs (like the recent release of 6 billion dollard to mullahs was a treacherous act by Biden). Once the head of the snake or Octopus is cut off (Islamic republic) then the legs (Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Iraqi and Lebanese Shiites) will die too, The Palestinians will have no support and no choice but to live in peace with Israel (two state solution). For as long as Islamic Republic is in power there will be war and hate and terrorism and women and children on both sides will die.1 point

Does everything they can to avoid harming women and children. The only time they get hurt is when Hamas has placed them in the line of fire. By my logic, decency matters. Intent matters. I don't understand why you and so many Demonrats feel like burning children and women alive is the right thing to do. One guy's opinion does not make "social scientists say". He says 'women' marry for social/economic improvement. Not even 'most women' and definitely not 'some women'. I almost married one who earned 8 times what I did. The last one worked in a camp and made even more and walked away to work as a gorcery clerk to be with me all the time. My first wife was in the same union and same night school as me, both my sisters married classmates or co-workers. Almost every woman I know married for love and similar lifestyle above social or economic reasons. My (not so bright or ambitious) stepson married then dumped some Korean girl who's father owned a store there, later to find out he owned a chain of department stores all over Korea. She'd married downward. The whole article is based on a misogynist assumption that women marry men for 19th century reasons, 'survival', rather than their own free will.1 point

Nope - sorry, no equivilancy there in the slighest. Palestine has played an active role in what 'has been done' to them and could have had a much different outcome, and it's no excuse to kill women and children. You terrorist supporters are all the same - "gosh it's not THEIR fault they burned babies!" This war started on oct 7th. Saying anything else is a lie to excuse the killing of women and children. And every single death is on the hands of the people who started the war. Every dead palestinian is directly the fault of the gaza Palestinians. The only thing we can hope for now is that enough of them are killed and have their lives destroyed that the survivors come to the conclusion that starting a conflict like this again must NEVER happen. Maybe then it'll be possible some day to find permanent peaceful solutions that work for everyone.0 points

Allahu Akbar, I guess. I don't doubt their antisemitism. Does Israel speak for all Jews? I doubt it. One can criticize any state for atrocities, they all do things from time to time. Criticism of Israel does not equate to condemnation of Jews, and more than criticizing Canada is criticizing Catholics. You better get your facts straight: It's Hamas, and other Islamists that are planning to do a genocide on Israel. They don't even make any secrets about their intention. Understanding Hamas’s Genocidal Ideology A close read of Hamas’s founding documents clearly shows its intentions. https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2023/10/hamas-covenant-israel-attack-war-genocide/675602/ Hamas calls for 'annihilation' of Israel and promised to repeat the horrific attacks of October 7 'again and again' 'Israel is a country that has no place on our land. We must remove that country,' said the terrorist group's former Foreign Minister Ghazi Hamad. Asked on Lebanese TV if that meant the annihilation of Israel, he replied: 'Yes, of course. 'The existence of Israel is what causes all that pain, blood and tears… and must be finished.
