One of the reasons I respect Polievre is because he listened to the valid concerns of the thousands of protesters and the millions of Canadians who agree with them. You don’t have to agree with everything about the “Freedom Convoy” to see that there were very legitimate concerns motivating the vast majority of the protesters. Trudeau should’ve acknowledged this and explained himself. Instead he vilified them and used every instrument available to government to deplatform and criminalize the protesters. The fact that you keep trying to play the game of painting everyone in the protest with some extremist brush or as “Trump clowns” is disgusting. When The Economist writes about the stunts pulled by our government and the government itself tries to justify it on “ideological” grounds, as though holding a different viewpoint from government is a crime, well it says a lot about how crappy our federal government has become.

In case you missed it: a few days ago over 400 bodies of killed Ukrainian soldiers were found in mass graves. They all died in combat actions in 2014 as DPR and LPR militia repelled the large-scale attack of Ukrainian army and Nazi-led volunteer battalions. But Ukrainian government doesn't want to join the process of searching the fallen soldiers and taking them back home. Amid the narratives of Western and Ukrainian mass media about Russian aggression there is a reality showing us that war in Donbass continues and civilians die from Ukrainian army shelling. But Kiev keeps on saying that it's Russia who is an aggressor.

I grew up in fear of war with Russia and her allies, then I served in the cold war during the late '80s. Nukes from Ukraine's 2,000 km border with Russia would be aimed at Moscow with less than 12 minute travel time. When I was in the military taking my nuclear, biological chemical defence training they told us that if we stayed in the military until we retired, and did all of our required NBCD training, we'd still have less of it than German students get by grade 8. Nearly every day new info comes to light about companies and governments doing everything in their power to invade our privacy given the advance of new technologies that allow these entities to track most everything we have ever typed & clicked etc.when using a computer connected to the internet, as well as our cellphone usage (which is, again, a mini computer connected to the internet and/or carrier signals). A cellphone is essentially a GPS that constantly tracks your location, & companies (incl. in Canada) are now using this info to know your every move. Governments (foreign and domestic) use this info to keep tabs on you. Private companies use this info to "better sell you more products" to increase profits, & to make money by selling your personal info to other companies. Companies are increasingly being forced, by asinine legislation (see: PATRIOT Ac, FISA etc.) passed by asinine politicians with little response from asinine apathetic voters, to secretly comply with government orders (increasingly WITHOUT warrants or any judicial oversight or accountability whatsoever) in sharing the info they have on you with them. This partnership is dangerous & out of control. For our basic liberty & security, this needs to end. Computers, the internet, smartphones etc. are not going away, & we'll continue to create & use new technology to connect us in ever more amazing & productive ways. We need to take back our privacy that's being taken from us. I suggest people email their MP, MPP, their Senators, & any cabinet ministers one finds relevant and tell them 1) support legislation that protects our privacy, not arbitrary & warrantless state intrusion into our privacy (such as Bill C-13 and Bill S-4, and 2) support legislation that restricts private companies from being able to track & share our information. We should also demand companies (especially banks, mobile providers, & other tech companies) to improve their privacy policies or cease (or threaten at least) using their services/products. These fuel prices are a serious blow and are driving up the cost of living substantially, not just for fuel itself. I have to drop my child a large distance each morning before going to work. I can’t move because my wife also has to get to work in a different direction. This is just one more example of government that sets policies to meet arbitrary goals that have negative consequences for millions of people. It’s simply unethical. While I don’t deny that there may be human made climate change and it may even be likely, we really don’t know to what extent humans are causing this, nor do we know what the consequences will be of that human impact. We do know the tremendous impact of poverty and lack of energy security for billions of people.

Having the province of BC making rules on a health issue is one thing (particularly since they have a heath authority included in their group). However, having RCR go above and beyond what the province is stating the pure idiocy. For example, I can go to Pano and ski no problem. I can't go into a restaurant because of the province of BC's regulations but it has nothing to do with Pano. The restriction at RCR that bans unvaccinated people from skiing is completely on them and has nothing to do with the province. I love skiing at Fernie but it will be a long time before they see any money from my pockets.
