Reports were that the cops were photographing license plates at the protest. I know the government SAYS they did not use the stolen GiveSendGo list of donors to target others, but I don't believe it. I know someone who had their bank account frozen who had merely donated, and never attended the protest in Ottawa. I also saw photos posted of Ottawa residents who stuck posters all around their neighbourhood, with the title "Know Your Neighbour!!!!!" listing the names of those in the area who donated to the convoy. And they wonder why they are compared to the German citizens who turned in their Jewish neighbours......2 points

Speak for yourself I am not Putin loyalist. I just don't think we should put a no fly zone in the Ukraine and watch WWIII to come to fruition. Why is it you are so itching for war?1 point

Is there evidence to suggest that they do not? Does the respect of women include agreeing that women have a right to an abortion? Because there seems to be some people born here who don’t even agree with that, often conservative in their political leanings. Foreign ownership of most of the tar sands…. Should we nationalize the oil industry to remove foreign ownership? We did buy a pipeline…. I guess that was a step in that direction. Seems to me that Alberta has done the opposite, with tax incentives to companies that come to Canada and extract oil.1 point

Ooh oohh oooohhh I can't wait to hear Trudeau's new slander against non-lackeys now. My guess:1 point

Its amazing how really obvious this all is, considering the utter failure of the legal system to show any interest. Is it even feasible that the Democrats did not coordinate with local election officials? I suppose, but its highly unlikely. Trump warned in the 2016 election that his apartments were being "bugged". The vast majority laughed it off...he was right. He warned that the Democrats were gonna cheat in 2020. The majority laughed it off... The 2020 Presidential Election...the entire saga...was one that nobody had ever even considered possible before. One of the two presidential candidates...hid from the public. This was a man who, in the early Democratic Primaries, was takin' a literal shit-kickin'. Then miraculously, the Democrats in the remaining states all started going for Biden...one after the other. Then Bernie...drops out? To an addled old fool living in his wife's basement? Election night was also unprecedented. It was Biden, a candidate who hid in his wife's basement and managed to give election speeches to...huge crowds of about 20 onlookers and some cars, vs. Trump, who's rallies were packed inside and out of the venues. Tens of thousands lined up to see the man, all over the country. One of Trump's constant messages in his speeches was that the "mail-in ballots" were gonna be an avenue for Democrat cheating. Then...FOX News, of all outlets, announces Biden the winner while Trump was leading. Then...ballot counting stations begin closing. By the early AM, Biden is ahead of Trump and being declared the winner. Republican monitors were being kept away from the actual counting so they couldn't see the ballots. Georgia had boxes of ballots that came out while most of the counting staff had been sent home because of "a broken water main" that turned out to be a plugged toilet. And the irregularities go on and on. Yet the legal system refuses to look at any of it. I mean...it was Covid! So do I think the 2020 election was stolen? You bet your ass I do!1 point

RCR is the worst as they won't even allow unvaccinated skiers on the hill. I heard someone in Kimberly torched their quad chair most likely in response to this. This is why we've stayed in Alberta for skiing this year as a rapid test still got you the same access as everyone else.1 point

To be fair, the push for pre-activity physicals in the States started a long time ago and really ramped up with the increase in knowledge with concussions as well as genetic heart defects. They were finding that athletes were lying about their medical history in order to keep playing and in the litigious environment found in the US, the schools found they needed whatever they could to protect themselves. I played college sports over 20 years ago and I remember having to have an annual physical done before I was allowed to start the season. As such I don't think this is new for Covid however I am sure that it will help catch Covid related issues.1 point

The usual crowd of halfwits is ignoring this latest bit of information and going straight to slander in other threads. Interesting.1 point

There are no Putin loyalists here, some of us just aren't muppets. The MSM's bias filter can play you like a chump time after time but some of us jumped off that merry-go-round of stupidity a long time ago. FYI, much like Kennedy made a stand against nukes in Cuba in the '60s which basically everyone in NA seems to applaud, Putin made a stand against biological warfare agents, chemical weapons, strategic nukes, stealth fighters, cruise missiles and tanks right on his western border in 2021/22. If you're so stupid that you think Putin should welcome a massive army to his front door, led by a senile dolt like Biden or possibly the mother of all evil, Hillary Clinton, that's your problem. All Zelensky had to do was stop trying to join NATO and his country would still be at peace now. He was stupid, his citizens are dying, and western leaders who stand to profit from war are still egging him on. Long story short - not everyone who supported the Freedom Convoy has the sense to support sanity, but most of the people who don't are just in favour of war for whatever reason.1 point

They clearly aren't anti-Russia. The dumb Mennonite kid on my block growing up literally has memes about how Putin got the Nobel prize for curing covid. Last week it was all anti-vax. Crazy times.1 point

Harper was further to the right than Scheer or O'Toole Harper won elections Scheer and O'Toole lost saying Conservatives are losing by pandering too much to the right and alienating the center is gaslighting obvious troll is obvious only someone on the far left who wouldn't vote for the CPC but wants them move further to the left and still wouldn't vote for them if they did would make such a moronic suggestion1 point

This is bullshit. Just bull and no sorries. Any protection against transmission from vaccines lasts from a month to three, peer reviewed studies. There's no reason today, just none, zero. The only thing they are protecting is the privilege to make outlandish, unjustified, authoritarian and voluntaristic decisions, on as much as a hunch, a whim. And we have no checks and no controls over it. Good luck to us. Remember Putin.1 point

The die-hard conservatives don't need any convincing to vote conservative, so picking a hardliner accomplishes nothing. There's no box on the ballot for voting Conservative enthusiastically. and that's why the Conservatives keep losing elections they should not - this precise unwillingness to compromise. It's a foolish and self-defeating habit. There are lots of people eager to meet you somewhere in between your ideal outcome and another Trudeau/Liberal government. If you're not willing to budge and decide they can all go fuck themselves, that's on you. You might think you're being principled and uncompromising in a "good way", but you're not. You're being stubborn and immature.1 point

Doesn't take much to baffle someone who half-wittedly uses terminology she doesn't understand and talks about subjects she's completely clueless on. No it's not. It's 40% higher than the seasonal flu and far more infectious....but infectiousness doesn't matter according to Goddess. I'M the one fear-mongering, while you're the one pandering fake statistics about general mortality skyrocketing. It's too stupid to even make this stuff up.1 point

That kind of superficial green strategy, building solar and wind turbines everywhere, would be costly and ensure dependence on fossil fuel to offset when the sun isn’t shining and the wind isn’t blowing. Nuclear and hydro are more realistic sources, but we need to retain a secure supply of oil and gas or we risk our very survival.1 point

Nope. That's an appallingly ignorant claim, proving you either don't know what IFR even means or you're utterly clueless about how math, epidemiology or straight common-sense work. If a disease had an IFR of 100% but could only be transmitted by licking rats or infected people's inner-ear, nobody would be too concerned. That's why viruses like Ebola, Marburg or Hantavirus don't cause nearly the same health scares as something like COVID, despite having IFR's 25-90x higher. They're not nearly as infectious, thus easier to control, thus far less dangerous. That's utter, completely made-up bullshit, and I say that as someone who actually speaks to life insurance actuaries and follows this data on a semi-regular basis.1 point
-
Wrong. Infection Fatality Rate is probably THE most important piece. As far as death rates go, there really hasn't been much of an uptick on rates either by province, state, country or world. Although they seem to be rising now - AFTER the vaccine rollout, with insurance companies reporting up to 40% increases in all cause mortality amongst the working class, who previously had low mortality rates. The world INCREASED in population for the last 2 years, in pretty much the same amount it ALWAYS increases. Again - not the "death parade" you and the other fear-mongerers have made it out to be and does not justify the draconian, suppressive measures used by governments to get money, power and control.1 point
-
It's not a suspension of human rights. It's a reasonable limit to the guarantee of specific rights in the face of a health crisis. There comes a point when the costs outweigh the gains for the mandates and restrictions, and I think those were reasonable arguments to make even before the end of 2021, but not on the basis of pseudo-science, questionable conclusions drawn from good data, or straight-up falsehoods, one of the most obvious being this gem: Which isn't true by any measure - with even the mild Omicron variant being ~40% more likely than the seasonal flu to cause death - this after almost two years of COVID circulating through the population already. This also ignores that the IFR is only one piece of the puzzle when comparing COVID to influenza, with COVID being demonstrably more virulent/infectious.1 point

if we ever are going to learn anything in life is that our lying politicians must never be listened or believed anymore. They pretty much have all become professional liars and cheats and thieves. Believe it or not. I certainly do. ?1 point

At all costs? Totalitarian controlling mindset? When you stop screaming into your pillow and can actually speak without hyperbole, more people will take your seriously and listen to what you have to say. The foolishness and ignorance behind your conspiracy theories and rabid hyperbole are what scare most people. You can barely go one post without raving about totalitarians or nazis, so it shouldn't be a surprise nobody's really paying attention to you. Like with the doomsayer wailing on the street, we walk past as quickly as possible and tune you out.1 point

That's the underlying conceit of your logic. You've determined what's appropriately conservative and that nothing short of that is acceptable, despite the fact that these views are non-starters for most of the rest of Canada. Just because you can't have everything you want, doesn't mean you don't have choices. You can choose Pierre Poilievre or a politician cut from his cloth who most Canadians will want nothing to do with (thereby ensuring the continuation of Trudeau-style Liberals), or you can be an adult and accept that compromise is necessary. There are fiscal conservatives out there who could perhaps halt/reverse some of the creeping overreach of wokeism without scaring progressives away, but Pierre Poilievre ain't that.1 point

There's no question. They keep losing elections the same way over and over again, provincially and federally. It seems they're more concerned with appealing to the base than actually winning elections.1 point

Pierre is unelectable. He's a populist ass-licker and will have absolutely no appeal outside of the conservative base. If folks want Trudeau in for another term, he's the path for that. He'd perform no better than the Reform Party and would get no support outside of the West and more isolated/rural parts of the country. I would vote for a guy like Chong in a second. He's always been level-headed and principled (lost a cabinet position for not towing the party line under Harper) and can appeal to the middle ground in a way that someone like Pierre the dweeb can't. Charest I think can win an election and can appeal to the middle-right as well, but I'm not sure he can win a leadership campaign as a former Quebec Liberal where too much of the Leadership contest depends on the West. If we want to actually get rid of Trudeau, we need pragmatism instead of dogmatism. Pierre will be a non-starter for huge swathes of the country.1 point
