This is not a step onto a slippery slope, this is a high dive into the deep end of the freedom of speech pool. There are already adequate laws in place to investigate, charge and convict people of conspiring to commit various crimes. Strengthen THOSE laws - especially the organized crime laws as these are GANGS - let's not let the gubmint stick their very unwelcome nose into any other part of our world. Worse yet: making the dotcom media moguls arbiters of freedoms of expression is right off the chart.3 points

The economics of petroleum/bitumen production, transport, and refining favours the path of least expensive resistance. Canada exports to the U.S. only to import about 1 million bpd along with Saudi oil to the East. Some provinces refuse to accept new or upgraded pipelines so there has been more flow north-south than east-west. Keystone XL was more about getting additional Canadian bitumen to the Gulf refineries for export abroad, with the Americans getting a value added premium as profit, same as they get for sending product to Canada's east. It is curious that many Canadians consider Biden's permit cancellation to be Alberta's problem alone....Americans do not typically segregate petroleum projects by state if only because interstate commerce laws prevent that. Canada retaliated much harder against Trump's steel and aluminum tariffs even though the impact was far less. The Liberal government has no seats in Alberta and little political interest compared to jobs and votes in Ontario/Quebec. So more bitumen will be headed south by train instead, a plus for rich guys like Warren Buffet.3 points

The people who argued that posting a picture of yourself holding an effigy of the president's severed head are now trying to convince us that creating political memes is worthy of jail time. A guy named Douglass Mackey may have conned a few hundred idiots into voting by text lol. He also made some fake memes which showed Hollywood actors pretending to be Trump voters. OOooh the shame. If you're dumb enough to cast your vote by text, maybe you shouldn't be voting anyways. Ten years. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/internet/twitter-troll-arrested-election-interference-related-disinformation-campaign-n1255864 If you recall, Twitter blocked a verified, accurate NY Post article in order to discredit it, just to help Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Is that worthy of ten years as well? It fits the bill of "disseminating false information via social media to change how people vote". Also, the bullshit at the capitol is outrageous. 26,000 armed troops, that they know they don't need, just to create an atmosphere of fear and the need to protect America from "cracka-ass tarerists". We need to keep them there during the super-important impeachment!!!!!!2 points

The internet is now full of horror stories about thousands of people being maimed or have died from taking the globalist big pharma vaccines. This appears to be not about a virus anymore. This appears to be more like the globalists are trying to make hundreds of billions of dollars off of people's suffering by using their puppet on a string politicians and the media to push their vaccine agenda. Our politicians and the media are both complicit with this push of vaccines on we the people. Watch out for the media alright. They have become professional liars and pushers of bull crap. Website VaccineChoiceCanada is a great place to visit if one would like to get more information about the dangers of vaccines and especially in this particular Covid vaccine.2 points

Is there a separate thread about how the Canadians are reacting ? They are "reacting" a lot to Biden's decisions on KXL, COVID vaccine availability, "Buy American", "hate speech" on American social media platforms, snowbirds going south, etc., etc. ...just like Canadians always do. They take this crap so personally !2 points

The U.S. export lots of petroleum and distillates to over 150 countries, and became the world's largest producer during the Obama/Biden administration, mostly due to fracking and oil leases on federal and private land. https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=727&t=6 President Biden will try to stop fracking on federal land, but cannot limit drilling on private land without Congressional (House & Senate) support. Most of the federal land is in western states.2 points

You don't get it . . . . the so called 'green' energy is just as dirty as you proclaim oil/gas is. Solar powered Caterpillar heavy equipment building another dam so you can plug your 'green' car in. Green just doesn't cut it on its own. A child would figure that out.2 points

Canada is falling further behind on vaccination roll out, dropping to 20th. The curious Canadian comparisons and benchmarking for "allies" is evident again. Trudeau will be getting more vaccine heat once the GG fiasco blows over. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-20-world-vaccine-doses-administered-1.58914651 point

I love how you try to speak English but inevitably fail. Just because a word has a classical definition doesn't mean that it doesn't also have an alternative meaning, and that alternative meaning is sometimes the most common usage of the word. For example, the classical definition of the word irony is more like what we would call sarcasm. A snotty "Nice hair, Trump" from a CNN cultist would be called sarcasm by most people, and that's also correct, but that type of speech conforms exactly to the primary/original definition of the word 'irony'. When you ask a commoner like us what irony is, 99% of people think that it means something like: "A guy only eats vegan because he thinks it's going to make him live longer than everyone else, then he does from E. coli on his spinach." Not long ago language snobs would tell you that's not irony, but when 99% of the population uses the word like that, the definition changes. Fascist is the best word to describe the Dems. They have absolute control over the media, they use the FBI & CIA like the politburo uses the KGB, they have violent militias (brownshirts) in BLM/Antifa/social media exercising strict control over what people can read or say, they demonize people based on their racial characteristics, and crossing that party is enough to get a person thrown in jail. Can you think of a better word to describe that than fascist? What word would you use, gz?1 point

what do you mean by "liberal? do you mean: "Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on liberty, consent of the governed and equality before the law.[1][2][3] Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but they generally support free markets, free trade, limited government, individual rights (including civil rights and human rights), capitalism, democracy, secularism, gender equality, racial equality, internationalism, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of religion." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism1 point

As I understand it this remains true: However they didn't expect the kind of pushback they got so they're saying well we're just going to kind of kill this order then we'll come out with another that says pretty much the same thing but then it will be our policy. Something like that. I know what you're talking about though. This, right: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/biden-insulin-epipen/ So if it's Prog-approved like rejoining WHO or recommitting to the Paris Accord that's pushed as true and permanent but if it's something nutty like making medicine more expensive for diabetics or making it harder to fight opiate addiction well, that's just temporary. Nothing to see here. We'll wait to see how much pushback there is then put a spin on it sometime in the future when you've forgotten about our election campaign obligations to the drug lobby.1 point

No it wasn't. It was a story based on credible information obtained by the reporters working on the story. It's not up to Twitter to determine what unsourced material is ok, and what isn't. Given that you just called a well-known and notorious villain “an American hero” I think we can all continue to dismiss your observations and musings as ignorant and uninformed. This might have to go on your list of “greatest misses” along with some of your previous pearls of wisdom : -slavery was actually quite comfortable that’s why we have so many black people - there were just as many white slaves as black slaves -rich people don’t have any advantages over poor or working class people, they’re simply genetically superior - When Heather Heyer was run over by a speeding right wing white supremacist in a sports car and died immediately, getting hit by the car had nothing to do with her death, which was actually due to an obesity-caused heart attack that by pure coincidence happened at the exact same second she was stuck by the vehicle. keep spewing your nonsense it never ceases to entertain!1 point

It’s time to abolish the costly, meaningless governor general job 2 hrs ago In the 40 months that Julie Payette was Canada’s governor general she read two throne speeches, officiated once over the dissolution of Parliament, swore in some 30 cabinet ministers and wrote her signature on several dozen pieces of legislation. That basically was the sum total of her primary duties. She also spent a bit of time meeting children, cutting ribbons and handing out public service awards. By all accounts, Payette hated doing many of these tasks — to the point she even stopped doing some of them. Total cost of operating her office over those 40 months? A staggering $120 million! Think about it: Canada spends more than $35 million a year for a position that’s a largely ceremonial relic of British colonialism. Indeed, it seems like the perfect job — the workload is light, the pay is $288,900 a year, the benefits are spectacular, including an inflation-adjusted pension of $149,484 a year for life for a job that lasts just five years, a large staff ($19 million a year), servants, chauffeur-driven vehicles and two official residences, Rideau Hall in Ottawa and La Citadelle in Quebec City ($9 million annually). You can add in travel and offices expenses of up to $206,000 a year afteryou’ve left the job plus several million dollars for you to set up a charity. And when the job gets a bit tough, there’s a slew of legal and constitutional experts on hand to tell you what to say and do. Surely all that money could be better spent, such as on health care or turning the governor general’s “homes” into centres for higher education, technology or Indigenous art. In truth, it’s a silly, irrelevant job filled with pomp and ceremony but nothing of real substance. What to do about the governor general’s office is being asked in the days following Payette’s sudden resignation last week amid charges she was abusive with her staff. Sadly, much of the discussion has centred on how to “reform” and “modernize” the office, how to “democratize” the selection process and who would be best to replace Payette as the Queen’s representative in Canada. Instead, the real question that should be asked is why Canada even needs a governor general. The so-called “experts” say the job is too important to ditch it, dismissively suggesting that those of us who favour abolishing the post don’t understand “tradition” and “constitutional law” and that, gee whiz, without a governor general in charge the whole country could come tumbling down and chaos would ensue. Hogwash! The last time a so-called “crisis” occurred was almost 100 years ago, back in 1926 when in the King-Byng affair then governor general Lord Byng of Vimy declined a request by Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King to dissolve Parliament and call an election. In the absence of a governor general, the few official duties required of the post could be easily filled by others. For example, the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Canada could swear in cabinet ministers, dissolve Parliament when asked by the prime minister and sign legislation into effect. In fact, that’s what the current Chief Justice of Canada Richard Wagner has been tasked to do following Payette’s resignation. Also, the Speaker of the House could read the throne speech. MPs and senators could cut ribbons and hand out honorary pins. Payette’s resignation should also force every Canadian to ask themselves the embarrassing — dare I say, humiliating — question of why we continue to have a foreign monarch as our head of state. I’d bet most Canadians don’t have a clue what the governor general does or that she represents Queen Elizabeth, Canada’s head of state. I’d wager even more that most people believe Justin Trudeau is our head of state, when it’s actually a sweet 94-year-old great-grandmother living in England. Payette’s resignation offers all of us the chance to give serious thought to leaving our colonial past behind. Really, what does it say about our national pride if we merely “reform” this expensive relic of Canada’s ties to Britain — rather than abolishing it as we should. Yeah, the idea Biden has made some remarkable policy change to increase the number of vaccinations delivered is just plain BS. The only executive order showing a noticeable differentiation between Trump's Covid policy and Biden's is the one announced this morning where he banned the term "China Virus." I think Canadians are starting to wake up to the fact that all of our Basic human rights and those rights guarantee by our constitution are very fragile, and can be taken away by a stroke of the pen. At any time... I found this article about the NDP trying to have the Proud boys declared a terrorist group, and at first thought i said sure, they are a a form of extremist group, but then i seen the powers this gave the government over any group, powers like they can not own property of any kind, all funds in banks or any other investment are closed and taken by the government. all media accounts are closed , basically any service provided to them, phone, electricity, water, etc can be seen as helping them and is against the law , including hiring a lawyer. How does one defend themselves in a court of law? It basically strips them of everything. And it is our politicians that are now trying to influence this procedure. And i don't trust them to make the right decision at the best of times. terrorist by popular vote: MPs risk dangerous precedent with votes to label terror groups, experts say (msn.com)1 point
