A cop may ask "is it ok if I look in your trunk?" etc. Do not consent, they want you to waive your rights. They need your consent to search without a warrant and without cause. Know your rights. This post seems to be about Occupy? Also, I DID NOT condone violence, what I said is that sometimes violence (and unlawful protest activity in general) gets results. You can look at the 2020 BC gaslink pipeline protests by indigenous people. They blockaded railway lines and got Trudeau to sit down with leaders and sign an agreement promising proper consultation. It worked for them but I don't condone those illegal blockades. That doesn't mean I agree with/condone illegal tactics, it means sometimes they work.
