A new part of the US Navy's F-35 system revealed...

Boeing's MQ-25 refueling drone...a first, I believe.

The Navy's goal for the aircraft is to be able to deliver 15,000 lb (6,800 kg) of fuel total to 4 to 6 airplanes at a range of 500 nmi (580 mi; 930 km).

Seems like a logical idea, all a refueler has to do is fly in a straight line at a constant speed and altitude. Carrier landings would be its biggest challenge.

America is fielding a new Joint Precision Landing System

it's highly automated with the computers doing most of the work now

this makes carrier landings exponentially easier on the pilots and allows drones to be landed by remote control

Why is not one liberal complaining about the costing out to 30 years of 70 bil dollars...10 years ago they were screaming about 19 bil ...

Because Trudeau could do anything and they’d support it, it’s the classic case of having no absolutes.  Or to put it another way, having situational ethics.

Well, I guess we've since seen how easy it is to conjure up nearly 3/4 of a trillion without breaking a sweat.

You guys got your's soon it'll be someone else's turn.

It's funny how this went from the Liberals crying foul over the program 10 years ago and eventually cancelling the sole-source bid, to one-upping it and buying even more of the planes than Harper had planned.

Well done guys.  Well done.

?

Yes.  The cancelation was obviously political.  They didn’t even take the time to review it to see if it was a good idea or not.

Are the Liberals more like the Harper Conservatives than the people here think?  At least in terms of military procurement and defence policy?

Everything to do with the military is political, it is the politicians that pay the bills and they have the last say in what equipment is purchased or not, who will get the contract, or should i say who has willing to pay the most in offsets, i call them bribes.

To be honest here, both are very similar, nobody should be fooled by the conservative myth that they are the ones that take care of the military, not true at all, in fact of you go back through the procurement history you'll find that the liberals come out ahead for buying equipment for the military...I know, left a sour taste in my mouth as well. Both parties have used DND as a cash cow to keep campaign promises or find funding to fund other interests. It has been the Liberal party that has done this the most, remember the decade of darkness, that was funding Chretien paying the deficit down...
