  1. So when you said "total fossil emissions are so minute it is extremely unlikely in my opinion that this has an affect on climate change" you weren't making a scientific claim? You were what, just throwing crap at the wall?

  3. The Guardian: Trump told Pence certifying the election would be "political career killer" “Mike, this is a political career killer if you do this,” Trump told Pence by phone on the morning of January 6, the New York Times reported, citing a transcript of testimony to the House committee that investigated the deadly attack on Congress that unfolded later that day. That's it: whether one's perpetually mad at the "lefties" or brainlessly cheered for a new Idol this is the end of the line. Instructing and threatening a subordinate to break the law and undermine the democratic will of the people has to be a crime in any interpretation and jurisdiction that is compatible with the principles of democracy. One's choice is simple here, really: to prosecute the lying crook aspiring to become authoritarian dictator to the full extent of the law; or assume and accept this kind of behavior as new normality: and descend into the banana world. There's nothing left in between. Just make your choice.

  4. Well, it is official now. The NDP Marxist party voted down the motion of non-confidence against the dictator in Ottawa carbon tax. The NDP party has just shown their true Marxist colors. They once again have shown as to how much they truly despise we the overburdened, over regulated suffering Canadian people. Marxist political party's are all the same. Control the people. Will those Canadians who continue to vote for the leftist liberals and NDP Marxist political party's finally see the light? Only the Conservative party is the only political party left in Canada to be able to try and help and save Canada from those two pro big government, pro more taxes, and pro less freedom Marxists globalist WEF elite scumbags that have pretty much destroyed this once great country called Canada. It's your call. 😇

  5. You don't understand the basic principles of debate. You made a specific claim ("total fossil emissions are so minute it is extremely unlikely in my opinion that this has an affect on climate change.") so it's up to you to prove it. The larger question of whether a) the climate is changing and b) that change is the result of man made emissions is irrelevant here.

  8. Things change. In 1917 there was no Hamas and Palestine was just an obscure backwater of the Ottoman Empire with a Jewish minority. Then the invading British had the bright idea to send the Eastern European Jews they and the rest of Europe didn’t want to another continent. These days, I hear a lot about the problems immigration can bring. Well that’s what happened. The Arabs revolted and the British put the revolts down brutally which greatly strengthened the position of Zionists in the territory. It takes a while to accept one has lost one’s land. Remember Churchill’s speech about fighting the Germans on the beaches and landing grounds and so on until ‘we shall never surrender’? Turns out most people on the planet think that way. There were always people looking for a solution on both sides but they had opponents on their side too. Barak and Olmert had to deal with Likud and we know what happened to Rabin. On the other side, things were naturally even more chaotic partly because Palestine isn’t a state and also because exiles can become marinated in the most extreme positions and were poisoned by Islamicist ideology. Abbas was once reasonable. The offer from Olmert was a good place to start but neither side had enough time to press it home before Bibi was facing off against Obama and the moment was lost. If you look at any tribal conflict that has been peacefully resolved you will usually see a long catalogue of failure before the deal. Peace in Ireland took 800 years. Obviously, the clock has been put way back now with the atrocities committed by Hamas but it is still ticking. Humans can change. Peace is possible. BTW I also believe that one day a mini-Iran will be something for any developing country to aspire to. I remember when it was a great place to visit - my school used to organize trips there. That can happen again.

  9. The rhetorical question in the title of this thread represents a classic example of projection. Republicans know the claim that their party has become a cult around one odious man, Trump, and many have left because they feel it has. So what to do: claim the other party is doing what you are doing.

  10. The Jews have always been a kind of canary in the coal mine as far as freedom is concerned. If they're not free to live and go about their business and act in a lawful manner then the rest of us need to start looking over our shoulders. And they're not. Canada has freely imported millions of people from places where the general cultural and religious sentiment is hatred of Jews without doing the slightest to screen them. And we're just starting now to see them flex their muscles, and with a government which is notorious for always catering to votes not principles. There are now six times more Muslims than Jews in Canada, and that number is rapidly growing. And so their flexing is being allowed, accepted, and tolerated by generally liberal governments (including locally) who have long suffered from the bigotry of low expectations. Meanwhile, immigration continues, grows, with no screening to weed out extremists of any variety. Millions are coming, and already the government is catering to them, and trying to bring in laws to restrict freedom. It does not care about churches being burned or synagogues shot at but by God if you dare to criticize Islam online they will do their best to punish you. Antisemitic acts have been occurring in Canada in ever-increasing volume since the Oct. 7 massacre of 1,200 Israelis by Hamas terrorists, and the kidnapping of 250 more. In the weeks that followed Israel’s military response to those crimes, a Jewish school in Montreal was twice fired upon, leaving two bullet holes. A Jewish delicatessen in Toronto was fire-bombed. An Indigo bookstore in Toronto was vandalized, because the chain’s founder is Jewish. Protesters in Toronto, Montreal and elsewhere opposed to the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza have targetted Jewish neighbourhoods, synagogues and businesses. Homes have been vandalized with antisemitic images and words. https://archive.is/CNrIh

  15. Well, we will only find that out if PP wins the next election. All the conservatives have to do is to start to cut taxes, start to cut big government, and the thousands of rules and regulations that stifle progress, and get rid of all of those censorship Bills that stifle free speech, and the conservatives can stay in power forever. It is up to them to secure their power for decades. Indeed, there will always be a bit of corruption going on all the time in politics, but that is how things work in politics. Will the conservative party be any worse than the dictator in Ottawa already is? Well first, they have to win the next election in order for us to find out. I am willing to give them a shot at it and hope that they will be a lot better than what we have in Ottawa right now. 😇

  16. This is proven by the fact the Liberal government is bowing to the anti-Israel NDP party and halting shipments of military aid to Israel while resuming sending millions of dollars to UNRWA which has been reported to have Hamas people among them. The Liberal-NDP government says it will not resume shipments until or unless the Israel government complies with "Canadian law", whatever that is supposed to mean. To bad they don't apply the same standard to UNWRA. Canadian freeze on new arms export permits to Israel to stay (msn.com)

  17. This is offtop but it goes against the essence and the grain of the binary politics. Every little tweak that works for one has to be against the other, and so has to increase the division and polarization until the extremes can no longer see the human in each other. You can preach to the water that it should flow upwards or even fly but it would be very unnatural and would have very little chance of happening. The way back to normality in politics lies through changing the system.

  18. And at the end of that time they won't just lose - they'll get wiped out. More importantly - the kids are turning against the ndp in droves. An entire generation will realize 'vote woke go broke' - which means not just THIS election but the NEXT one will be hard for the ndp. Probably the one after that. PP is thinking strategic and setting up for a long term conservative rule You're playing checkers while the rest of us are playing chess. And you're playing badly at that You can't even see that far ahead - but those of us with a little more intelligence can see that far and well beyond. LOL - you just don't get it. Any one who say's the science is settled has little knowledge of how science works. Science is only true until a new theory comes along which disproves the current science... ad infinitum.

  26. The one thing you don't deny: Donald Trump broke the law. He didn't break the fraud law once, he broke it continually, many dozens of times, for over a decade. He didn't break the law by an arguable or defendable amount. The judge wrote that a 20% discrepancy in valuation was defensible. But the valuations were inflated by over 300%, after accounting for the premium value of the Trump name and all the other factors. I don't accept your argument that lying to banks is a necessity of doing business in New York and "all real estate moguls do that." The State of New York passed a law called Adult Survivors Act, which was modeled on their prior law, the Child Victims Act. Over 3,000 lawsuits were filed under the Adult Survivors Act, so, no, it was not "just so E. Jean Carroll could sue Donald Trump." What's more, of the $88.5 million verdicts awarded to E. Jean Carroll, just $2 million was related to the fact that Donald Trump raped her. The lion's share of that verdict, by far, stemmed from the fact that, after Trump lost $5 million to Carroll, he continued to defame her. So the jury said to themselves, "Huh, I guess a $5 million verdict isn't big enough punishment to make him stop defaming this woman, so we need to award a much larger verdict." Now, Trump continues to defame E. Jean Carroll, and if she sues him a third time, the jury will most likely say to themselves, "Huh, I guess $88.3 million isn't enough punishment to make him stop defaming this woman, so we need to award a much larger verdict." This is what happens to repeat criminals. The second punishment is far harsher than the first, and the third is harsher still. Your problem is this: You aren't asking yourself the simple question of "What the F*CK is wrong with Donald Trump that he would defame a woman the day after he loses a defamation lawsuit?", and instead and instead of blaming the criminal, you're blaming the legislature, judge, jury, and the victim.

  33. It is a FACT that Trump defaulted on loans to Deusche Bank. It is also FACT that Trump wields enormous political power, and Deusche, for many reasons, may not want to take the stand and say, “Yup, we’re a bunch of dummies who were fooled by Donald Trump.” But what matters here is that it is ILLEGAL to fraudulently state your worth on loan applications. Can you GET THAT THROUGH YOUR SKULL? It is ILLEGAL to lie on those forms. That’s the law, Trump broke it. And not over any sort of reasonably arguable amount. All the Trump employees were asked about how they apply generally accepted accounted principles (none of them knew) and what their processes were for assessing the values of these properties (Donald told us and we wrote that down.) If they said that they evaluate the properties by comparing to other comparable properties which recently sold and adjusting in a reasonable fashion, they’d have been fine. But they had no defense for their egregious lies and now their CFO is going to jail AGAIN, this time on Felony perjury for lying on the witness stand in this case. Why can’t you understand that it has been proven over and over again that this guy is a fraud and a criminal? Wake up! You are brain washed. EVERYTHING about this case is laid out in public record. You can read all of the facts for yourself. The Trump Organization lied repeatedly, over a period exceeding a decade, not by 20% but by hundreds of percents, in stating the value of Trump’s assets. It is not legal to do this, for good reason. Finally: The man who said he’s worth ten billion dollars and has “$400 million cash on hand” cannot get w BOND for $485 million. It’s because he cannot put up $485 million in assets to the bonding agencies to guarantee repayment.

Can't blame stores for checking. They probably lose a lot of money by shop lifters. I am not sure what the best way to do it is. We live in a world of many crooks. So businesses have to protect themselves somehow. Best to just go along with it and be agreeable.

  44. it does but it also doesn't. This really isn't about climate change, it's about affordability. When the carbon tax increase we're about to have was proposed it was pre covid, and pre inflation, and PP is not demanding they axe the tax here, he's saying things have changed and people can't afford this, don't raise the carbon tax right now. So this isn't really part of the climate change debate - that will come later when they fight over axing the tax during an election and he'll have to put forward an alternative plan. But right now this is more about people being able to afford to eat. IF the idea of the tax was that it would encourage people to use as little energy as they can then that's already happening with our current inflation and pricing. The thing is - the libs NEED that tax to go up. The whole carbon tax is a pyramid or ponzi style scheme for them - they raise the tax this year but the rebates are based on a year ago so if it keeps going up they're collecting a lot of tax dollars that won't be rebated. if they stop raising the tax they'll be in trouble.

  49. When you see how these laws have been applied in some European countries, I fear it might be abused. If you don't recall the Switzerland example, here is the thread I made back in October 2023, when a polemicist had a 60-day prison sentence for calling an activist a 'fat lesbian'. The same mentality that was at play to imprison someone calling a 'fat lesbian' is at play here in Canada. Our government literally said that you could have a sentence up to life in prison for hate speech online if the bill goes through. Sadly, the LPC and the Conservatives are two sides of the same coin. Both want more regulation on the Internet, more surveillance and make it harder to criticize the government online with anonymity. But the fact that it was proposed to have a sentence up to life in prison for 'hate speech' is incredible. Even child rapists don't do that time after being prosecuted.
