Shouldn’t private industry want a pipeline first? Shouldn’t they also foot the bill? What happened to conservatives who used to deplore handouts to private industry?2 points

The Alberta oil patch is also funded by foreign money, far more than environmental charities and non-profits. Some oil patch companies are majority foreign owned and controlled That’s why they don’t want to do any refining or value-add in Canada, they want to continue the colonial model off forcing Canadians to sell unrefined crude overseas at wholesale discount prices and then import it refined petroleum products back at a retail premium. They just want to feed their offshore value chains to please their foreign masters rather than building a Canadian value chain that builds a strong Canada.2 points

This is why Conservatives can’t get elected. Even when they get what they want they complain they’re the victims and try to stir up controversy. But I guess when the right is complaining you sold out tot eh left and the left is complaining you sold out to the right, you know you’re in a reasonable spot. Notably, “the NDP Premier” points out that the MOU doesn’t require BC approval at all, so once again PP is caught in a lie.2 points

Why are you in favour of new pipelines just to ship our oil out of the country? Shouldn’t you be in favour of refining and using it in Canada?2 points

It's hard to say. We don't get to see the books. We don't get investigations. Money disappears, and that's that. Hundreds of billions went out the door during covid. Where did it all go? Who knows? Where is all our money going now, and what do we get for it? Who knows? This guy is a little rough but he has a point. https://www.blendrnews.com/p/run-by-criminals1 point

Best not to put all our eggs in one basket then it would seem 4 times in 40 years.... and never alone. Always as part of a united force. I have no doubt that our planes may get used. The us will pick some fight somewhere someday and once again we'll go. Or europe will or something. And as i said having a small fleet of the 'best of the best' to send at that time make some sense. I'm sure we'll always have a relationship with the US. But we need to move further away from being dependent on them. And i don't feel the issues i raised were addressed by what you said. And don't kid yourself, the opinions of people like you and me matter. I told you some time ago, you think the purchase of military gear is a military decision, but it's not. Its' a political decision and always has been and politics is downstream of public sentiment for the most part. This is a conversation canadians need to have, and it will reflect in what gov'ts do. That DOES explain why none of the military operations in history were named "opertation: Play nice with others and learn to share"1 point

So you think it's reasonable for 90% of aid and media attention to focus on Gaza to the exclusion of everywhere else on the planet? Carney has not actually DONE anything so far but talk. What has changed in the last year?1 point

You might want to ask why someone wants to single out one factor, namely religion, as the reason people are left behind and backwards. Nothing to do with military, economic storyline. It's like when a Muslim commits a crime, they want to associate that to the religion because it's a key marker of difference to them. If a Christian commits a crime, it's like... Man with brown hair commits crime... I.E. The religion of the perpetrator is meaningless because he's like us.1 point

Here is the problem with your challenge, no one can guarantee what the future brings us...The CF-18 has been used in combat 4 times, so we have used our air force in combat related missions both in air patrols and bombing ....Europe is preparing for War with Russia within 5 years...That should be a red flag for Canada, China has stated it would reclaim Twain within 5 years....Looking back on our history we have always gone to war with our allies except once Iraq...My point here is you can't purchase equipment based on we will never or rarely use it for that purpose...you buy equipment for the worst case scenario...because we can not produced it fast enough, meaning the next conflict is come as you are... The number the Air force gave the government was between 130 and 150 aircraft to fulfill All of Canadas needs, meaning to protect our air space, to provide aircraft to support ground operations, and our sea lanes, and logistical routes...Canada purchased 138 CF-18's of which 3 sqns were put in Europe...and while the F-35 is more capable aircraft, the number 88 barely covers our air space...does not include support for ground operations, nor does it count in expeditionary missions...and finally it does not include any mention of aircraft crashes....to date there has been 18 F-18 crashes those numbers are not accounted for, or training aircraft, aircraft in deep maintance, or regular maintance ........not to mention everyone is forgetting the fact our next aircraft is going to be around for 40 plus years... Where do you see the gripen in 40 years, operating with gen 6 or 7 aircraft... I'm sure if you were to look at the issue with a micro scope one could justify a much larger purchase, for those reasons... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/cf-18-hornets-1.1003648#:~:text=In 1991%2C the Canadian Forces, against Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. Reliability is a factor to be taken into consideration, but is is one of many that need to be taken into account...The primary factor should be what advantages does it give our pilots over their enemies, keeping our pilots alive is the air force most value resource as it takes years to grow and shape a fighter pilot...the F-35 specializes in killing at distance, spotting the enemy before they even know the f-35 is there...those that shot first kill first... Your 100 % right there are no guarantees in anything who knows what the next American president will bring......just like you can't guarantee we will not need these aircraft for combat... American have attacked us for good reason if you were to step back and look at what they wanted I can not remember a US president that has not asked us to get our military and other security apparatus in order, including Obama, What trump did was leave us no other options... I think the word your looking for is dependency, and thats is the US main point Canada has become dependent on the US for almost everything... to include things that give us our sovereignty, and trump has given us the nudge we needed in my opinion...I don't think both nations will be taken long hot showers with each other any time soon, but we are tied to each other for our mutual defense of North America and we need to have at least a business relationship, one that we can purchase military equipment as well as most of our other goods... To be honest Cdnfox, neither of our opinions count for much, i don't think the PM reads or even takes into account any of our opinions....So all of us here are talking into the wind....To your tax point, Yes we all pay taxes, including those men and women that have signed on to unlimited liability.....and whose sacrifice is almost never seen , heard or acknowledged when it is their lives that are on the line...Why is it we chose to ignore their voices.1 point

You can’t just declare anyone you dislike an “enemy combatant” to make killing them legal. In what way are unarmed people thousands of miles away from your shores and not engaging in combat a “combatant”? Per my earlier post Trump will be pardoning someone who flooded USA with hundreds tons of cocaine why isn’t he an “enemy combatant”? Ronald Reagan’s goons like Ollie North flooded USA with cocaine (or allowed it to be flooded) for their Iran-Contra scam. They got pardons from a Republican president too. That’s the real “sedition” not Kelly accurately telling servicemen they can ignore illegal orders. Why do some people get summary executions and others get pardons?1 point

As if anyone needs any more proof that Trump’s kill orders are not about Drugs or protecting Americans . Explain how peasants who “allegedly” move small amounts of drugs thousands of miles away from US shores must be killed on sight with “leave no survivors” type orders….But Dug kingpins who DEFINITELY smuggled HUNDREDS OF TONS of it into USA get a PARDON after only 1 year in jail ? He must’ve been able to make that half-million “club membership” payment to The Trump family bribe club Trump says he will pardon ex-Honduras president convicted of drug trafficking US President Donald Trump has said that he will pardon the ex-president of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, who was convicted of drug trafficking charges in a US court last year. Trump made the announcement in a Truth Social post on Friday, congratulating the former president on the pardon, saying he was "treated very harshly and unfairly". Hernández was found guilty in March 2024 of conspiring to import cocaine into the US, and of possessing machine guns. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison. In the same post, Trump also said he supported conservative candidate Tito Asfura in the upcoming general election in the Central American country on Sunday. Hernández, a member of the National Party who served as Honduras's president from 2014 to 2022, was extradited to the United States in April 2022 to stand trial for running a violent drug trafficking conspiracy and helping to traffic hundreds of tons of cocaine to the US. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c1kpm0rvxepo.amp1 point

Just because I am bored in a hotel room, let's debunk what is obviously not a serious video. The crux of her "argument" is that Trump is creating "Cult attachment behavior". The problem with her argument is that she misuses the phrase/concept. Cult attachment theory relies on the subjects needing a sense of belonging in a world that rejects them. They cling to a cult because the cult accepts them as part of their society. What does that sound like? The typical conservative that is heterosexual, part of a nuclear family, attends church and has a job Or Someone that feels isolated because they are part of a social group that claims to be marginalized (lgtbqia+bipoc as an example). And this is why I say the video has to be a skit. She blatantly misuses the concept to say Trump floats concepts and then harps on the ones we like and pulls back on the ones we don't. That is how he creates chaos and then makes chaos feel normal so we all somehow become mind numb slaves or some b.s. The reality is, we all are more open about what others accept (vis a vis our opinions) and more reserved about what others don't accept. That is not cult behavior, that is human behavior. Cults don't create chaos. Chaos would push away those seeking belonging. What she is doing is planting terms the viewer does not understand in a story the viewer wants to believe. In so doing, she elevates her opinions to facts in the minds of the viewers. In reality, she said nothing. When you applybthe actual concepts of the phrases she uses to the examples she gives, the entire argument becomes nonsensical. Like this:1 point

Someone like Andrew could easily have been first in line. Look how long it took for them to take away his titles. Apparently, he is still in the line of succession. Pathetic. We cling to a foreign monarchy to show we’re not Americans but we don’t need to do that. The Trump fiasco has shown just how different we are.1 point

Why do you lie when it is so easily debunked? CNN: Suspect’s background: The 29-year-old arrived in the US in 2021 under a program implemented by the Biden administration following the US military withdrawal from Afghanistan. A US official told CNN the suspect was “clean on all checks” before working with the government and again before coming to the US. And then Snopes.com "The Associated Press attributed its reporting that Lakanwal received asylum in April 2025 to #AfghanEvac, a charity that works with the U.S. government to resettle eligible Afghan residents in the U.S. following the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. The group's director, Shawn VanDiver, told Snopes via email that #AfghanEvac got its information from anonymous U.S. government sources. .... Snopes does not rely on anonymous sources in our reporting. We were unable to independently verify the claim that the Trump administration granted Lakanwal asylum roughly seven months before the fatal shooting in Washington, D.C. Therefore, we leave this claim unrated." In other words, we KNOW FOR A FACT that Biden let this guy in and IT IS A RUMOR that the Trump admin granted him asylum.1 point

The whiff of corruption has been hanging in the air around Parliament since Confederation - a legacy of the Westminster system of government probably. I'm well aware of the inadequacy of Conservatives when it comes to doing anything about it. That's why I prescribe process guardians, cameras, microphones and charges and jail time for offenders - real measures as opposed to the usual catch-and-release program almost all white collar criminals have come to expect as their due. Why do you keep voting for Conservatives given how useless they've proven to be at curbing corruption? I don't expect Liberals to do anything which is why I've voted against them for nearly 50 years now. You just can't get your head around that can't you? This determination of hard-boiled supporters to be as stupidly and stubbornly partisan as you can possibly be is one of the biggest reasons I never vote for your parties.1 point

.............. just spit balling here but arguably, removing Canada's Head of State would require opening Constitutional Talks (demands?). There is nothing that scares the bejesus out of a sitting PM more than the suggestion of opening a Constitutional debate with the Provinces on any topic ... underline Quebec. The country is locked-in-irons? Any PM that was foolish enough to suggest it would likely be making a swan song ................. for the Country!1 point

You're free at any time to retract your oath and renounce your citizenship. If i moved to the country of your birth and took an oath of allegiance I wouldn't propose fundamental constitutional changes that would be a direct violation of that oath because i start having second thoughts. I read the article. The thing is, to say it is cheaper is absolutely false. Once infrastructure is built, once logistics are established, once all training aircrew and ground crew are finished, once parts and overhaul facilitates are incorporated, ... then maybe the Grippen could be, but not a given. The other thing is what the aircraft primary objective is and it is not the European theatre. The "institute" does not take any of that into consideration. EDIT...to add, the only ones talking about merged or 2 fleets is social media. No military persons want this. Military realizes the best fighter for Canada and it, requirements and missions and service is the F35.1 point

I really don't give a shite what the American's do domestically politically - suffice to say that the Nation is on the decline - the changes(?) that are being introduced by TACO are generational. The real question is where does that put the West in terms of security? I will agree that the U.S. was the leader of the so-called free world - with Trump at the helm there is no question that so-called bad actors are no doubt seeing their chance to act. What is really concerning about TACO's administration is that he had surrounded himself with those that will not talk truth to power - most alarming is the military leadership -akin to what Stalin did in the 1930's ........ leaving him a dollar short when the NAZI came knocking.1 point
