Imagine having the leader of a liberal democracy who is so childish, petulant and unstable as to make such a bizarre announcement. In any properly run country he’d be facing his party colleagues tonight for an explanation. America is in serious trouble.4 points

This it outrageous but this type of stuff is happening in England right now. Its pure insanity, this poor girl was walking home from her job and was raped and the court decided that the crime wasn't serious enough to deport him because it didn't last long enough. These are the people you liberals love and want to protect. https://www.aol.com/news/did-not-last-long-enough-212131283.html3 points

It’s become clear that the U.S. is no longer functioning as a democracy because one man is getting away with setting reckless policy capriciously without any effective checks on his power. Canada must become less dependent on the U.S. and chart its own course. The U.S. isn’t a trustworthy partner.3 points

He's just hoping that they'll get around to him someday and he can claim to have a 'love life'. "Why are we even talking about this?" oh mike He doesn't have a good answer for that so he's going to pretend that it's nuts that we're even discussing it. This is a very chronic left wing tactic and one of mike's fav's2 points

They want to ascribe a personality disorder to someone without the clinical credentials or assessment to do so. Sad They cannot diagnose without a clinical assessment. Those psychologists who are diagnosing someone not their client without conducting a proper assessment should lose their license for malpractice2 points

There's a large amount of stuff found in the ground, I think it's called oil. Wonder if that might have any potential to replace the heavily polluting battery production. Maybe we can use it to replace the corrupt green stuff and electrickery that's going on.2 points

Unfortunately, the Foundation misrepresented what Reagan said because like so many institutions in America it now toadies to the fragile ego of one poorly informed man. Reagan was opposed to tariffs in general and regretted when he felt he had to employ them, a completely different position from that of Trump.2 points

Don't fall for the same kinds of nonsense that launched the EV disaster onto a naive world. Hydrogen is a nice, clean fuel, and one can actually make green bio- hydrogen. Problem is: as with so-called "green" electricity green H2 is extremely expensive and can't exist without massive government subsidies. Then come some more problems: it is extremely difficult to transport and store (will simply leak right through solid metal tanks - and for iron alloys embrittle them to the point of easy rupture). If you want to use it in a vehicle, the tanks and related hardware are very heavy, expensive and can be dangerous. One of our associates did a project to determine feasibility of H2 fuel cells in aviation power. Turns out when you run one at the level of constant power needed in an airplane, the energy it takes to cool the cells is more than the energy it takes to fly the airplane. And on it goes. Getting back to the topic of the thread: The truly ridiculous idea that government money can fund a business is pretty much a 100% recipe for failure. As with literally EVERY "green" initiative it's all about who gets what kickback or gift to waste. Business has to be run by businessmen, not financiers. Products that have a genuine market demand at a profitable price, Bureaucrats and the backroom boys of politics are only there for and only capable of understanding the scams and skim. They have no idea and no vested interest in products, markets and customers. That's why they (the projects) always fail - the fix was in at the start and the finance guys just collect their golden parachute and get on to the next scam. So: how do EVs fit into the marketplace? While the environmental damage from making and disposing of their batteries is ecologically a disaster, there is a place for them in the global transportation mix. IMHO (and this is something I have looked at for clients) they actually make sense for the first mile and last mile P&D business that the GM vans were targeted at. But: if there isn't a market out there demanding them to meet a real need, their time is not yet here. Then we get into the orange man's tariffs and Canadian plant closures. At the end of WWII we had a fairly diverse and nearly self sufficient value added infrastructure. Over the decades, US (and other foreign) entities snapped up the businesses and built what we used to call the "branch plant" model. Gradually, this diversity drifted more and more into Ontario, bleeding much of the rest dry. This was driven by the easy and imbalanced access to the US market - particularly the car market. Unbalanced because we usually exported a lot more than we imported. Even though it is being done in a vicious manner there is some legitimacy in what's behind it. We have had a century to develop other markets and for our business world to develop domestic independence - and we did exactly the opposite.2 points

As long as the Americans understand the consquenses of what will happen. Perhaps they may want to review the casualty figures the Russians have suppered. Canada is the same size as Ukraine and the US is the same size as Russia. Or the times the USA has been defeated by little countries like Afghanistan and Viet Nam. How many American kids are they willing to sacrifice for the glorification of Trump.2 points

OK, how about you listen to more than the cherry picked paragraph you want to present? "However, this is not an attempt to offer a clinical diagnosis of the current occupant of the White House. That would require a personal clinical interview and other procedures. "2 points

For the past few years I argued that the Canadian government under the Liberals had stopped respecting the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and had shamed Canada’s history and founding cultures, which I still think is true on the whole. However, the U.S. is currently being directed by one man in a way that dispenses with checks and balances. To just capriciously impose tariffs in a fit of childish rage, and to watch the branches of government bend the knee to this recklessness is a signal of the U.S.‘s demise. Canada is better off reducing its dependence on the U.S. and maintaining its sovereignty.1 point

Not the case at all, i took biology class all through high school, only 3 genders were mentioned, male , female and inter sex which was rare.....Today there is an infinite amount of genders , This is were the fantasy comes into play....Our education system has picked up this fantasy and run with it hard...promoting it, convincing children that they should explore their gender which there is no limits...I'm not a medical expert but as far as the medical community is concerned there are the 3 genders....and you can't identify as a dog or cat, or what ever else you may think you are.... They have also bastardized the English language as well hijacked it to further there fantasy....all enforced by todays education system...and government some how....Not based on facts or science but someone fantasy... Everything we were taught in school was based on fact, it had viable sources , there was no false news in the day, if there was no fact it was declared as unproven, something to be ignored until proven...The moon is made of cheese, we know to be false because it has been proven false by science...the earth is not flat as some suggest....even though there are some today that still think so.. the belief in god has faded, and a lot of people have moved on in the western world...I'm going to say in Canada for the most part, hard to prove the bible as fact when it is based on here say...The public may think it knows best but in most cases, they are wrong, the public believed the earth was flat for a long time....and science came along and proved them, wrong....that's what is the missing piece in all this gender theory....science and facts.... Perhaps those half of them do not have daughters....Why is it that grown men who could not compete very well in men's leagues decide to say there are trans and compete in women leagues only to dominate against women.....would you allow your daughter to Box or practice marshal arts with men, what about football, full contact hockey, Rugby....why is there not mix leagues of these sports ?...what about the military why are there no women in Special forces as tier 1 operators?....Maybe the other half are not educated in the physical difference between men and women.... I thought i was stepping carefully, i thought telling my kids there was no such thing as monsters, dragons, etc because they were based on facts that these mythical creatures where products of someone fantasy or imagination, and no amount of education system or ...imagination is going to make them come to life... Like i said want to be howl at the moon, or called a certain name you made up then fine do that in your own space or home, but don't expect the rest of us to play in that fantasy, until you have convinced science and medical staff to be on the same page...I'm like you do you, I really don't care what you do on your time.... and don't drag me into your fantasy.... I don't think i vilified any trans in this conversation, if you not happy in your skin, by all means once you become of age, then change it all, on your dime....what i don't agree with is give children live altering drugs, medical procedures, or the infinite amount of genders, or changing the English language itis one of the hardest languages to learn as it is, no how do you explain they/ them could be a single person or a group of people or some one with mental health issuers.` There has to be boundaries on everything we just can't wake up one day and start changing things 2 +2 now equals 7 becasue social media thinks it is the new fade....the English language has been around forever, and while we add words everyday we don not change the structure of it...1 point

This bizarrely insane view of eyeball's carries over into all his thinking, on all subjects. I've never encountered it before. It's literally insane. His argument is always thus: If a criminal doesn't OUTRIGHT TELL YOU that he is committing a crime, then he hasn't committed a crime. If a politician doesn't OUTRIGHT SAY THE WORD "PROMISE" then whatever he tells you he's going to do, is not a promise. If a murderer says he didn't do it, NO AMOUNT OF EVIDENCE will convince eyeball that he did, because the murderer didnt' admit it. For years, his arguments have consisted of: criminals, liars, thieves, embezzlers - they all tell you IN ADVANCE of what they are doing and if they don't tell you - then they didn't do it!!! Eyeball is ALWAYS running cover for corruption and immorality. Then claims to be against both. It's literally a circle of insanity.1 point

I think Carney is taking the high road and not insulting or demeaning Trump or any of his minions. I also think Carney is doing what he can to find other trade partners. Problem with that is that trade partners cannot be made in a day. They have contracts and deals that they must comply with and then Canada can step in. All that may take a while, sometimes years. I would hope that Carney makes an announcement that everything we make shall be made with Canadian aluminum and steel and lumber and that we should try our hardest to buy Canadian. While the emotion of Canadians is there, it would be good for Carney to actually say that. The good thing is that Carney is trying and maybe even succeeding in weaning us off the US. If we would accept China's offer to accept their EV's, we would get a lot of our trade back with them and put a huge dent into the US EV production.1 point

The U.S. is not an appealing partner under current leadership. They don’t play fair and are basically extorting. There’s no winning this way because the U.S. isn’t seen now as a friendly force for good. They can certainly impose their power on other countries to extract benefits, but those short term gains aren’t worth the long term damage and distrust. I can see China benefiting and new alliances forming. Trump has essentially caved into Putin and Xi is holding firm in the tariff wars. The U.S. is losing allies fast.1 point

This is not something I care about unlike a lot of topics I could name. I don’t know anybody in this position and I simply don’t meet them in the outback. Your example of a cat is a little out there, for rhetorical purposes I suppose. It’s not a serious question. There are people who are convinced they are really of the other sex from a very early age and they’ve written convincing memoirs of this. Again I am not highly charged on this matter either way.1 point

‘Mere personal pleasantries’ are actually rather important in keeping a society together and I’m not the one getting all excited about this. I’m just curious how far you would actually go in a social situation. That’s a legitimate question, I think. From your response it sounds to me like you’d probably say nothing but bark about it all the way home which is probably a good thing for the country. I also notice that, in general, school kids are much less vigilant and indignant about these matters than older people. It’s just regarded as one of things one encounters in life, no big deal.1 point

Reagan's speech was to explain why he was about to levy tariffs on Japan even though tariffs are generally bad. It's literally what he said. There are so bad generally speaking, we don't like tariffs, tariffs do more harm than good, but in some specific cases such as this one it's necessary. That was his entire message Reagan was a big proponent of free trade and let's not pretend otherwise. That doesn't necessarily mean that trump has to be or that there aren't two ways to solve a problem. But the ad was on the money as far as depicting reagan's attitude towards tariffs1 point

He has state governors, the auto sector, oil & gas companies, wine & spirits sector, and the hospitality industry barking at him but so far falling on deaf ears. September inflation data out the other day and up 0.3% for the month to 3%. All tariff impacts haven't flowed through the supply chains yet so that's only a matter of time before the yelling starts to get louder.1 point

The question is, would you correct someone for not calling them a woman when they are not one? What if I tell you that I am a cat and I want you to meow to me? Is there any level of sillyness you won't succumb to here to appease others' delusions or role-playing? For me, it entirely depends on the context, I will not go out of my way to be rude, but I am also not going to sit here and pretend like this is normal or should be normalized, let alone pushed onto people and kids. Because you reduce this to mere personal pleasantries when in fact institutions where leftists have enough power force this behavior onto others and demand they play along. No, this is just another dishonest response from you. People like you have enough time to care to force this madness onto society, then you cry about priorities when others oppose it.1 point

No need to convince me... that's the direction but it's not happening at the pace NA auto companies or governments thought it would. With government subsidies cancelled the adoption rate will continue to lag, unless manufacturers pivot to incentivize with lower prices on a typically unprofitable segment of their business right now. China is far ahead of NA towards electrifying their economy in areas like EV's and renewable energy and at some point in the not too distant future will surpass the US as the world's most powerful economy. To your point...there's a very chance that will ripple through our auto future.1 point

The TL/DR version of this: Those pushing this transgenderism madness onto society and onto kids have distorted the language by trying to claim it is "misgendering" to not refer to someone by the gender they "identify" as. The point being, that it is factually and actually misgendering to refer to someone as something they are not. Those of us who care about facts and not living in the delusional lies others want to push, will not play along.1 point
