Thomas Sowell was once asked by a Rabbi what the Jews could do to make people stop hating them. His answer was one word: "Lose". Small people are bitterly jealous of the fact that Jews are winners in life. They get married, have kids, take care of those kids together, ensure those kids get properly educated, send them to university, and make them into good, solid citizens. They work together, cooperate, and settle disputes with words, not fists or knives. Thus they prosper. Small people don't do those things and yet they're still angry at the Jews for having what they don't have. They feel its unfair of the Jews to succeed when they don't, even though they refuse to do the things Jews do to succeed. Israel succeeds where all the countries around them fail. It has no oil and no resources to speak of but people. And they've built a vastly better society than anywhere else in the region. So Arabs are bitterly jealous. Arabs don't value education and don't cooperate. They settle disputes with fists and knives. They believe they are following the word of God. Yet they do not thrive like the Jews. Their societies are going nowhere. So they point at the Jews. It must be THEIR fault. You and they are a lot alike.2 points

I actually voted Conservative in our last provincial election, but I've had occasion to second-guess that. Not worried. Just the opposite - glad he lost. If we had one I would be.2 points

It was over for Pierre Poilievre when the apple eating video was released. No matter that the woman/journalist was trying to bait him or was rude, Poilievre showed Canadians just how classless he could be. As Barquentine suggests, Pierre Poilievre will never be PM of Canada.2 points

So he's gonna win his safe seat in Con country - too cowardly to run in Ont. But what if he wins by a smaller margin than they got in the general election? And he has to face a leadership review in Jan. (Of course he won't step down after blowing their huge lead.) Hopefully there's one or two Conservatives with the heft and sense to challenge him. And if he survives that he'll still be the unlikeable guy Canadians rejected and have that losing track record. PeePee better hope some world wide disaster causes huge inflation, or we find out Carney's a closet cannibal. Otherwise he'll never be PM.1 point

Ahhhh no, both parties haven't lost numbers.... You should have used the latest abacus poll data - https://abacusdata.ca/abacus-data-poll-optimism-direction-of-country-canada/ Approval of Mark Carney’s government has reached a new high with 53% approving and 23% disapproving. This is the best approval rating for the federal government since the COVID-19 pandemic and similar to the post-election approval numbers of the Trudeau government following its first election victory in 2015. Much of the goodwill directed towards the federal government continues to be strongly correlated with feelings towards Prime Minister Carney. Today, 51% have a positive impression of Carney compared with 27% who have a negative impression. The net score of +24 is the highest it has been for him. Perceptions of Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre remain divided. 39% of Canadians have a positive impression of the Conservative leader while 44% have a negative impression. This is the second wave in a row of rising negatives for Poilievre. His net score today is -7.1 point

I guess it depends on what tracker or group of people you interview....Numbers have not moved that much, in fact both parties have lost numbers.... https://abacusdata.ca/abacus-data-poll-post-election-first-poll/1 point

Holy shit are you anti-semite or what? Israel is comprised of more than Jews in both their military and their citizenry and more than Jews were killed. War is not supposed to be equitable in death. Wars are won by killing more of the enemy, that is the entire point.1 point

You're not paying attention and you have the attention span of a goldfish. " Following her marriage to Adrian Clouatre in 2024, she began the process of securing a green card so she could legally live and work in the U.S." So prior to that she knew she was in the country unlawfully. Whether she knew about the deportation order or not she knew that she didn't have a green card and that she did not have residency status. And that means she didn't try and do anything about it or address the issue between 2018 and 2024. Do you understand that yet? She just kept living in the country knowing that she didn't have status until she got married and decided she needed status after getting married. If she had looked into it or tried to become legal in the country prior to that she would have known about the issue and she could have dealt with it but now because she's left it she's got a problem. So she's been on a deportation order since she was 18 years old, she knows she comes into the country illegally, doesn't do anything to resolve the issue at any point in her life even though she's estranged from her mother and just carries on blissfully ignoring the issue and now she's got a problem I'll say it again because you appear to be very slow at getting your head around this simple concept:She knew she was in the country illegally. That's why she was going to try and get a green card Almost a decade after she turned 18 Then it blew up in her face. But this is the law, she's been an adult for many years, she chose to ignore something and now her choices have come back to bite her in the ass. Maybe she should have cleared this up before she got married and before she decided to start a family, now she's waited and because of her bad choices I'm supposed to feel bad that she screwed her family over? Is that any more clear for you? She is the bad guy here. She chose to ignore the law and now it's had consequences. You seem to feel that she should be completely forgiven for breaking the law. You don't think laws matter apparently. I recommend changing the law you're like oh no no we should just ignore the law we have She is in the country illegally, punch her sorry ass out and maybe she'll learn a valuable lesson about paying the attention to what's going on around you in the future and not ignoring her problems1 point

Wrong. The benefit formula was significantly increased and was phased in between 2019 and 2025 for all Canadians. A young person earning their entire CPP under the new formula will receive 50% more than the original formula. https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/publicpensions/cpp/cpp-enhancement.html Lol what are you talking about ? 4 million Canadians enrolled, half of whom have received care, 26,000 participating dental care providers (75% of all providers in the country) and they are still rolling it out and haven’t even fully opened up enrolment to all planned eligible groups yet. Another falsehood. Provincial coverage was patchy or non-existent from province to province . Federal program reimburses provinces who provide universal first dollar coverage for these items. Don’t knock it til you try it 😉 148 long term advisories have been lifted since 2015, 37 remain. There are 45 short-term advisories currently in effect which may or may not be from the same place as a previous long term. 175 short-term water advisories have been prevented from becoming long-term ( ie were resolved in less than 1 year) https://www.sac-isc.gc.ca/eng/1614386700861/1614386717841 The stuff that came from CAF inventory was all old gear. The military has been starving for decades including under conservatives. 1) The definition wasn’t changed, the measure changed in 2018 2) Statistics Canada not “the Liberals” changed the measure 3)The pre-2018 measures (called LICO and LIM) were not by themselves official poverty measures and they were inaccurate as didn’t take the cost of necessities into consideration in each region even though costs can vary significantly across the country. LIM only counts people who earn less than 50% of national median income. LICO only counts people who spend 20% more of their income on food, shelter and clothing than the national average (e.g. if the average Canadian spends 43% of their income on necessities you’re only poor if you spend 63% or more). As such the pre-2018 measure only captured the poorest of the poor. The new measure called MBM was actually developed by statistics Canada in 2000-2002 and updated in 2018 when it became the official measure. It actually prices a comprehensive basket of actual necessities including utilities, transportation, etc in over 50 Canadian regions. If your net after tax income is less than the basket in your town then you’re in poverty it’s that simple.1 point

Oh my god, how are you this dense? IT says RIGHT IN THE STORY that she was ordered deported in 2018 AND SHE CHOSE NOT TO OCMPLY!!! That's breaking the law! Do you need me to say this slower? Instead of leaving as required BY LAW she CHOSE to STAY and then had children, exposing them to exactly this situation. It's irresponsible AND criminal! Iran has be spiralling out of control ever since Trump unilaterally and without provocation cancelled the JCPOA aka “the Iran Nuclear deal” in 2018 and imposed crippling economic sanctions on Iran, all at the behest of his best bribe paying buddies Netanyahu and Saudi Arabia. Since I know you don’t know, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was a 2015 agreement between Iran US, UK, France, Germany, China, Russia and the EU to limit its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. It was Monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Iran’s compliance was certified by the US on multiple occasions including by the early Trump administration Then Netanyahu and Saudi make these still unproven claims about Iran secretly cheating As a result of Trump sabotaging the deal and imposing crippling sanctions Iran resumed its nuclear program, now completely unmonitored Before Trump, Iran was only able to enrich uranium to 3.65% purity By the time he left office Iran was able to enrich it to 20% Biden continued Trump’s sanctions with only minor attempts to soften them and by the time Biden left office Iran was at 60% The Trump sanctions have massively damaged the Iranian economy and further destabilized the region1 point

Only worried for the Conservatives. Believe it or not I would like to see them as a strong sensible centrist party. But another reason PP won't succeed is because he will have to suck up to the far right, the way things stand.1 point

I have to admit, on face value at this moment this appears to have been very well played by trump. I certainly don't hate him the way that most of the lefties here do and I frequently acknowledge that some of the things he does are decent or at least competent while others I'm less impressed with. I certainly don't buy into his cult of genius concept. But this is some seriously next level shit. In a very short time he took out Iran's nuclear program, ended a conflict between Iran and israel, has probably crippled Iran's ability to support his proxies and put them on notice that bad behavior will be punished which keeps their heads down, sent a message to bad guys around the world that you cannot expect that trump will sit idly by, wave the flag and got a little patriotism going, and showed by their lack of reaction that Russia and China are currently not relevant in that part of the world and are being a little meek. Like, that's a hell of a lot to achieve during the course of a presidency, never mind in a weekend. You'll have to see how the dust settles but honestly I am genuinely hyper impressed.1 point

Yes and that's generally considered to be bad and non-transparent. In fact we don't even know that negotiations are really going on, they have talked very little about that. Who are our negotiators? How often are they meeting? These are things that are standard as far as disclosure to the public goes. Obviously you realize there's a problem or else you wouldn't be going into meltdown mode and just reposting the same crap over and over again like a 3-year-old.1 point

So, because his lies are 2 months old, and they were just "campaign promise lies", they don't count? Until Indigenous pay taxes like everyone else or collect their own taxes to pay for their own health and education, they will remain a kept people. That’s just the way it goes. Either demonstrate true self-sustainability or pay the cost of your upkeep by paying into the system. Everyone with a brain sees the two-tier citizenship and the dependency the Indian Act and reserve system creates, yet it’s the Indigenous who want to keep it. Stoke the past injustice narratives, demand more money. Keep needling Canada, but the price of this game is never breaking the cycle of dependence.1 point
