Right at the time when the new Axis of aggressive dictators is rising Trump threatened to cut the aid to Ukraine if reelected. There's no question who is he cheering for, and will be working for. And he never really tried to hide it. So, no pretending ignorance. Not a fun lottery: only the citizenship test.3 points

The U.S. democracy is in a crisis; there's no clear ways out of it. The last more or less functional institute: judiciary is going down the partisan drain. Democracy is not the rule of an angry mob; that phase ends very quickly in one of two ways: an oligarchy; or authocracy/dictatorship. Democracy is a product and responsibility of active and responsible citizens. Keeping it requires nothing less than ongoing reason; responsibility and commitment to its principles. And if/when the responsibility becomes an entertainment and the citizens become pueblo interested in little else but bread and circuses, the demise of democracy becomes all but inevitable. It was tested two millennia back and uncounted times since. So nothing new here. Only the citizenship test.3 points

Nonsense. First off they are mandating that somebody has to do something. That is essentially forcing. They could choose to leave it up to the individual school to make that decision. That would not be forcing. And because of the symbolic nature of anything flown on the flagpoles they should always be consensus about whatever your flying because that's something that you support. It is not forcing anybody to do anything if you are simply saying that the flagpole should be used for their intended purpose and not for the support of contentious groups. Will you also be allowing the flying of white supremacist flags, perhaps Nazi Flags, anything like that? If a group of trustees got into power that demanded that that be a thing and that those flags be flown even if a significant percentage of the school disagreed with it, would you be here demanding that they have the right to do so and that "forcing" them not to was unfairly 'demonizing' them? When you set one group apart as being "better" and more "worthy" than other groups you spread hatred and division and that is PRECISELY what we're seeing in Canada. They've been pushing this for close to a decade now. Would you say that by any measures that we have available crimes against homosexuals and trans are going down? Is online hatred going down? Are we winning? No? Gee, imagine that2 points

The “China sluts” just imposed 100% tariffs on Chinese cars, and got Europe to follow with 34% tariffs. Cut the crap. You and Trump want to surrender Ukraine to Putin, you’re Russia sluts, and you’re wrong.1 point

I don't think the free world can allow itself to go into the fatalism mindset. If the freedom is worth defending the commitment to it cannot depend on any one face or any country. Those who value it in the world would need to unite and press ahead. Or it could be the end of it, in the whole world: the only alternative. If freedom could not stand to the evil of Russia how could it to the united Axis of dictators? Not a chance. Blind may not see it but it wouldn't change anything in the outcome.1 point

Yes you do. You know the answer. You just can't admit to it because it exposes how foolish your ME id10cy is. FYI 1948 and 1967 came before 1979, stupid. Do you think the 1979 revolution would have changed the Iran gov't's attitudes 30 years before it happened? It would have been the same Iranian gov't in 1948, and the same country again in 1967. Furthermore, the Iranian gov't is even more radical and bigoted than it was before 1979, so of course they'd support a genocide against Israel. FYI the Quds force is comprised of all of Iran's elite military units and it is entirely dedicated to terrorism and the destruction of Israel. Can you name another country on earth whose elite forces are all dedicated to terrorism and ethnical cleansing? The Quds force isn't for the defence of Iran, they're just for massacring Jews and committing terrorist attacks. 🙄 Just because you don't understand why Iran's attitude towards Pakistan is germane to this discussion about Israel doesn't mean anything. Your ignorance and stupidity are legendary here. And before that it was Ottoman political vandalism, along with their 600 years of codified islamic religious bigotry. Before them it was the Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, and the Islamic Caliphate (and more centuries of codified islamic religious bigotry). But "OMG, BRITAIN!!!!! EMPIRES ARE BAD!!! "1 point

Well love/empathy And hatred/ anger Are two of the most motivating emotions there are. And of the two the second group is by far and away the easiest to stimulate in people. And unfortunately while people can be happy by themselves without involving others, anger and hatred demand an audience. If you are hateful or angry you want other people to be equally hateful and angry right along with you. It's like the Jehovah's Witness, it's part of the fundamental nature of it that those who believe in it must go out and spread the word so that everybody is equally angry. I suppose it gives them a feeling of power, oftentimes I believe it gives them a sense that they're actually doing something meaningful or important, but it must be hard as hell on their body and their psyche. There's a reason why studies show democrats are more likely to have mental health issues. You can't stay that mad for that long without doing harm to your mind.1 point

Not just flying a flag, but celebrating it. Even the Ontario PCs (Pretend Conservatives) have issued a stern warning that schools are required to 'celebrate' gay pride.1 point
-
There's no need to even teach about 'pride month'. Anymore than other religious or group celebrations. And some schools do a helluva lot more than just put up a flag. Remember this absurd celebration at a school last year? This is not merely informing. This is grooming. This is making all those little kids who don't even know what sex is think "Gee, I wish I was gay too! It must be really special! How do I become gay too!?" It's not exactly a surprise that with adults pushing this sort of message the number of young people identifying as gay/lesbian has skyrocketed. That would be teaching the sanctity of the male/female relationship, complete with marriage and children, and that anything else is lessor. Most of Canada. The trans explosion is due entirely to the wildly overblown hype and the way the Left, including schools have treated anyone declaring trans as something like a holy and sacred person. It excuses all ills, all errors, and is way better than Gladue at getting you exempted from punishment. Tons of confused kids, kids with mental or emotional health issues have latched onto it to excuse their ongoing problems.1 point

Not really. The only reason it ever could is if the info ops convinces enough western mooks towards your arguments. For Russia to maintain this war, they have to turn theirs into a war economy, spending well over 10% of their GDP on it but probably a lot more (since Russian numbers are as accurate as their history). Meanwhile, an economic bloc that dwarfs Russia (like truly dwarfs it) can donate their obsolete/surplus equipment (which is still miles better than Russian garbage) and help dismantle one of their biggest geopolitic military threats for pennies on the dollar. No, the only way a war of attrition favors Russia is if Putin convinces enough donkeys to believe it.1 point

Yeah he pretty much did. And people we ok with that. Democracy was actually very very new in Germany at the time, before that they'd had an imperial system and many thought they'd been better under that and that democracy was a mistake The dems seem to feel democracy is a mistake too. That's it in a nutshell for me, or at least it was. Taking a run at churches seems like a tactical blunder to me. Frankly, I feel a bit duped by all of this and have come to regret the previous level of tolerance and goodwill I once defended on their behalf. It's gotten to the point that I'm now ready for that hard right turn and my only fear is that the conservatives won't be conservative enough. That's why I question the bullying tactics here, what do they hope to gain by alienating the very people who once supported reasonable accommodations in the spirit of goodwill and tolerance? I think I'm pretty moderate by nature, they really had to work overtime to make me regret it, and since it took a deliberate and sustained effort, there must have been some potential gain in mind. What was it? Seems like a loss to me...1 point

OK, short: 1. Cower to the thug and beg to "negotiate". 2. Munich was a "good scenario". Let's see if there's more. It would be an astounding discovery.1 point
-
So he proposes as a "good scenario" giving aggressor what they want and hoping that they wouldn't come for more. Why wouldn't they if you just gave them what they wanted? Why wouldn't they come for more and more until they take all? Like he has an answer that doesn't and cannot exist. This is the same exact: word to word adage that was used to justify the Munich deal on the verge of WWII. As the whole world knows, it failed grotesquely, causing immeasurable suffering. There's no good paths giving brutal thugs what they want. They will always come for more, and you will achieve nothing by bleeding the strength and will to stand up. And they'll keep drumming this old and tired adage on and on, in a complete ignorance of the lessons of the past and the reality. Is it a surprise the the suckers, inspired by their fetish want nothing less than to rewrite both the reality and the history? Four billion years, and for nothing. What a failure.1 point

Homosexual lifestyles and non-biological gender are in direct contradiction to Catholic doctrine. Defending that doctrine and ensuring that mixed messages are not sent to followers is the mandate of the Catholic Church and Catholic schools, because Catholics believe that the salvation of souls is the core mission of life. You don’t have to be Catholic or religious, but it’s absurd to say that one has a right to be religious without adhering to the beliefs of the respective faith. Secular pressure is overriding longstanding democratic rights like religious freedom and freedom of speech, even women’s and children’s rights, in unprecedented ways. It’s not about being mean to people. We don’t say the serial killer is good because God made him that way. We as Christians say God loves everyone but doesn’t approve of all behaviour. That’s the major fallacy and ideological creep underway: I can tolerate or even love someone in a universal God loves all His children sense, but that doesn’t mean I have to support how everyone lives or the choices people make. We are not only entitled to moral perspectives; our society would break down in significant ways without the aspiration toward leading the good life, even if the details might vary among the best moral perspectives. People are being asked or even required to violate their morality and conscience in significant ways. Not only is that likely to receive a political backlash; it must be challenged. You don’t get to make me pretend that blue is orange or that what I believe is wrong is just fine. If you start pushing dubious values on kids in schools, you’re inviting extreme cultural and political war, which is what we have. The Christians didn’t start this; the LGBTQ2S+ lobby did, even after receiving the legal rights supporting lifestyles or self-proclaimed identities that many people think are wrong or dubious. Fly your flag of choice, but don’t make others fly it.1 point

Two problems: First, your argument is pedantic. Your are absolutely right that Trump didn't do "nothing". In the over three hours the riot (that he instigated) unfolded, he watched it turn violent, he watched the capitol building get stormed, he sent a useless tweet after the fact about being peaceful, and then he probably ate some McDonald's, took a shit, and watched another hour or so of the coverage on Fox News. So yeah...he didn't do "nothing" - just nothing positive, nothing serious, nothing worthwhile. Second, I never even made the claim. 🙃1 point

Yet again, you just say contradictory things. You were not saying war was chess a moment ago, you were saying war is a matter of who has more on paper. What, mistakes? Imagine that... now you want us to believe Russia is going to perfectly hold what they have. No, you support Russia and surrender to them on terms most beneficial to them. What you support leads to more aggression, more war. Already explained to you many times more things can work than negotiations that are most beneficial to Russia.1 point

The Capitol building was already overrun and people (and police officers) were already hurt. Qanon Karen got shot a few minutes later. If only she'd been watching a live feed of Donald's twitter. 🙄 I'm not sure how many different ways I can tell you that tweet was a hollow and worthless gesture. The protestors obviously felt that way, especially since he'd just them up minutes before. All of the agencies, media figures, White House aides and even his freaking family were begging him to tell them to go home. While all of this was happening, Donald sat there watching Fox News for hours, and refused to do so until 4:17, over three hours after the festivities began. The end result? They left. Imagine that!1 point

I have lived in Ottawa many decades and this debate has been going on for even longer than that. We all know that doing a renovation costs way more than building new. It will pretty well have to be demolished to fix all the issues that are with the residence now. So, the extra steps of knocking down the external walls would not be a big step. Actually, I think that half way through any renovation, it will be determined that it needs demolishing anyway. Personally I think the building needs to be demolished from the beginning and a new one built. The problem, with that is it will be a government project and will take longer than buying aircraft or ships to get done LOL The other problem is those old folks that have some sort of emotional attachment to a decaying building. Every city has them and they are a pain in the ass as they do not have to pay for anything they want.1 point

It's urgent Canada follows the money in the anti-Israel protests In 2012, the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP) launched its “Follow the Money” project. “The project revealed, for the first time, the existence of substantial Middle Eastern funding (primarily from Qatar) to U.S. universities that had not been reported to the Department of Education, as required by law,” ISGAP reported. “Foreign donations from Qatar, especially, have had a substantial impact on fomenting growing levels of antisemitic discourse and campus politics at U.S. universities, as well as growing support for anti-democratic values within these institutions of higher education.” Qatar, along with Iran, is a principal patron of Hamas. It is a savvy complement to fund Hamas-friendly operations on campus. ISGAP reports that Columbia University, epicentre for Hamas-friendly campus activism, has received nearly US$3.5 million from Qatar. ISGAP reports that Columbia has not reported this money, as required by law. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/its-urgent-canada-follows-the-money-in-the-anti-israel-protests1 point
