The biggest problem with "woke" is that by its very nature it HAS to affect other people's lives against their will. Otherwise it's just not woke. For example - vegetarianism is often associated as left wing. But the vast majority of vegetarians are happy to just go about their lives eating vegetables. And the meat eaters eat their meat and both are happy. But you get something like transgenderism which goes full woke - and it's not enough that they get to choose what they're going to do with their lives. You MUST acknowledge their pronouns, you MUST celebrate pride, you MUST do all these things or you can be charged with fired if you're lucky or subject to criminal hate crime charges if you're not. I literally worry about speaking to co-workers, because if you say the wrong thing it could have very serious consequences. Clients can accuse you of being racist or sexist or whatever for the flimsiest of reasons and you better be able to defend yourself because it's a job killer if you can't. It's gone way too far.3 points

You keep posting these unrealistic numbers...PP has already told you how he is going to increase spending, and it is not through empty promises like the liberals... he is going to shave existing things already budgeted for...like the billions we spend on foreign aid...like UNRWA for instance... cut some of these excessive social programs...that would be more than enough to pay for any increase in military spending... Forces are in decline becasue Canadians let it happen period... more than 30 % of Canadians answered in a poll that it is a priority...and those numbers are climbing... Rebuilding our armaments is already happening thanks to the liberals it's a small start but atleast it is getting their...will the funding survive i don't know...3 points

And I would say this is the case at the provincial and municipal and school board levels, too. We are drowning in bureaucracy and are so over-regulated it takes forever to get anything done at any level and usually winds up costing twice as much as it should. Why do the heads of hospitals, colleges and universities earn such high salaries? These are not specialized jobs that require massive education and experience. The head of one of Ottawa's hospitals was a former municipal councilor. The head of the University of Ottawa was the minister of Justice before being appointed to the job. If politicians can do it then why are the salaries approaching half a million a year, or in some cases passing that mark? Because when the boss makes $500k, the deputies have to be making close to $400k right? And then everyone around them gets slightly less munificent salaries. How many non-teachers at universities are pulling in considerably more than $100k? The administrative ranks have exploded at post-secondary institutions. And I see far too many at school boards, too. We need a guy with something like a hard-assed Mike Harris mentality that will go in and start laying people off and freezing promotions and hiring. Not to mention eliminating all those high-priced consultants.2 points

The fact you feel you've moved on doesn't mean that others shouldn't drag your ass back to deal with it tho. Listen to how this sounds: (man sexually abuses woman) Woman - hey, you abused me and that's wrong! There has to be an accounting!! "Oh sorry sweetie - i'm past that and I've moved on now. Whether or not that's how it should be is up to you, but i don't want to hear your whining," . Universally we can all acknowledge that would NOT be ok. Just because YOU feel you've "moved on" doesn't mean that the issue is dead for the other people OR that they should stop 'whining' and demanding resolution. Ask our first nations about that. In Canada especially but in the US too there needs to be some recognition that what happened was wrong. That it was not ok to hurt people or threaten them. Sorry if you find that inconvenient.2 points

What is hilarious about this post, is the United States health care system is the worst in the World, and completely capitalist. The leading cause of bankruptcies by far, in the United States, is health care billing. It should be noted that the per-capita expenditure for health care in America is over $11,000 per person, and about $5,000 in Canada, so there is no excuse not to have universal health care in the US.2 points

You don't have to be a PT god, to accomplish anything a infantrymen can, it's it's more mental than physical...you would be surprised what the human body can do when you force it...take those PPCLI guys in Afghanistan, they did not have a choice it was march or die...you could not just fall out and walk back...not everyone can keep it up for extended periods of time, some days you need your battle buddie to step up and give you a hand... There are lots of studies done, some say it is impossible, and then we have direct examples of women doing it...even excelling at it...the major hold back right now is the higher tier you go the harder the physical and mental standards are...so if 5 % of the females make it in the Infantry, corp, not many of those are making CSOR standards and i don't think there is 1 female operator at JTF 2. That female medic that picked up one of my soldiers weighed in at maybe a buck 40, she managed to race down 100 meters of narrow ally way, pick up a dude with his gear weighing in at more than 220 -250 lbs pick him up , and RAN with him back to safety...and she was not running in a straight line...lots of zigs and more zags... Everyone is forgetting there are also small framed men that are in the infantry as well, and they manage because they know what they can press their bodies to do... Look i used to be that guy, did not have time for any female in the infantry, it has taken years of convincing and i've seen females suck it up and do whatever is necessary to get the job done...i've seen it in unarmed combat classes, in the field, on the battlefield, those that could not make it did not last long as an infanteer, everyone in the Bn knows what is at stake...thats life's, no matter what the politicians or chain of command wants to do with wall charts, if you can't do the job, the Snr NCO corp will ensure standards are met or exceeded,or that soldier will be gone.......everyone else that made it, can push beyond what your mind thinks it an do..an infanteers career is all about finding your limits and then breaking those standards, doing it over and over again...2 points

How expensive will it be, stupid? Energy prices are up globally because of 1) Joe Biden's terrorist attack on N Gas pipelines from Russia and 2) because of Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries. Food prices are up because Ukraine is one of the world's largest net exporters of food, and there's a war affecting a massive portion of the country. FYI the money that's being spent making munitions could just as easily spent creating jobs - without murder - dr death. It seems like the war is what's expensive, not "who wins". Joe's message to Zelenski: "You have to keep the war going, the death toll is totally acceptable, just don't affect the price of oil in an election years, numbnuts."1 point

No it doesn't. It shows the European countries, China and Italy well below us and Russia and Brazil well above us. That proves it isn't world wide. It is a national issue. Plus the data is old, we are at 3.4% CPI and the producers index is even higher.1 point

Because they believe they have enough power to force it. They think that gov'ts will pander to them and give them what they want because they have always done so. Back when between them and ontairo they had 65 percent of the seats or more that was largely true. Now that the west has been growing - it's becoming less true. Especially as they deny more immigrants which means they're growing much more slowly. Honestly i dont think it's going to work this time .1 point

looks fairly realistic. However, i predict that Trump loses in NV and MI. Still wins but not those states.1 point

You never fail to deliver entertainment value. It comes down to being rational... the past is the past, you can't change it. To keep saying the same things over and over and over again.. (which you do) and expect a different result is not rational. Rehashing something just because you can.. again, not rational.1 point

Trump has a slight edge right now, the polls seem to be pretty consistent. But it's not decisive. this is positioning and the time when the leaders get their base riled up, the pitch for the 'mushy middle' voter who will decide this election will begin in about 3 months. We'll see which way it breaks. But it looks like trump is going to enjoy the poll position going into it1 point

I thought they were talking about Margie Novera ? I dated her briefly in 8th grade but she broke up with me when I put gum in her hair.1 point

as predicted.. you can't answer a simple, direct question with a simple, direct answer. My point in the very beginning was that folks are moving on. My meeting with state officials was evidence of that. Whether or not this is how it should be.... that is up to you. I have moved on. Living life through the rear view mirror does not advance your life. But... hey, you keep whining, complaining to deaf ears and I will move on to topics that are impactful and relevant to right now.1 point

If you think 5 seconds is 'all day' then sure "post too much post too much posts too long uses words too big posts too much posts too much" Kid, the fact that's your only argument is pretty telling. If i posted less - you'd still be wrong in all those arguments you lost. If i posted less 100-50 would still be 50. If i posted less healthy men under 40 would still have been at more risk from the vaccine based on the evidence YOU posted. If i posted less you STILL would have screwed up the math and the numbers in the milk thread repeatedly till you looked like a child because math is hard (apparently). Basically "your post count" is you're way of saying "You were right, and i look stupid, and i'm angry about it but have nothing else to argue. " LOL1 point

What you're talking about is just a CNN talking point, they're just really good at duping credulous dolts. He was talking about MS-13, and only MS-13, and he was doing it for a while. Did you even see the video or are you completely talking out of your ass? Right - he didn't say something and that's proof that he meant it 😂 Later, stupid.1 point

Yeah. The international community seems to be turning on Israel even though most of the Palestinians still think it was a good thing to attack Israel the way they did on October 7th and, if an election was held today, Hamas would easily win. Palestinians will not stop until every last Jew in israel is dead. So why should Israel?1 point

Good find, pretty hilarious! I note that in this mornings news, it’s being reported that leader after leader is calling on Israel to show restraint. Don’t respond. Let cooler heads prevail. The media is not reporting on any condemnations of Iran. It kind of tells you the lay of the political landscape these days.1 point

So you sit all day by yourself, dictating? "Aw muffin *smiley face* sorry kid butthurt butthurt *smiley face* aww muffin sorry kid butthurt *smiley face*. 🤡 Me being here has no effect whatsoever on your puking all over the forums all day. If I'm gone for a weekend, a few days, or a week, you're still pounding out 40+ battlemode posts a day, melting down and throwing insults at the drop of a hat as soon as anyone calls out your clueless bullshitting. Oh that's standard fair. He humiliated himself ranting about inflation last year, and he's still dredging it up now. That's what this 100-50 garbage is that he keeps squawking about - another made-up phantom he's invented to cope with so he can argue against himself.1 point

You know this guy has no life. He lives in his (or his Mothers) basement and posts all day every day. He cannot get over being called out and proven wrong and 1diotic so he always resorts to name calling and insults. And then he goes on and on and on with the same whining complaints LOL I posted his selfie of him coming out of PP's ass and he is so wound up about it he still whines, after almost a month of it being posted. But hey, every forum has to have a self centred loser and we have him LOL1 point

As ab additional - It just occurred to me that your biggest fear in life is that just as it was under harper Polievre will actually come up with some ideas that make sense that either reduce emissions or allow us to live with the changes. Not only will you have been proven wrong in that your idea didn't work, but now you'll have to live with the shame that someone else got it right. Imagine someone being so messed up that they are rooting for climate change to win just to avoid political embarrassment. You should be ashamed. But you won't be because your woke is more important than the world.1 point

"Using drugs can increase paranoid and irrational thoughts, mood swings, and irritability, amongst many other side effects." These are not the kind of people nurses, doctors, and patients should have to put up with in hospitals. As Aristides said, who is going to enforce where they take drugs. What is going to stop them from taking drugs in hallways, waiting rooms, washrooms, or wherever? Do you really think drug addicts will follow rules? Do drug addicts ever rob to get the money for their next fix? There is some danger in having irrational or irritable people in the hospital with other patients. There is no way these kind of people should be permitted to be taking illicit drugs in a hospital. I see this as putting other people at risk. What is become of society?1 point

The best systems around the world are generally a blend. As previously mentioned - france is frequently held up as a world leader in excellence and value for dollar and it's a public private blend. Others have somewhat similar systems and they all do better than we do. But honestly - i don't think you'll see it in Canada. The idea of 100 percent public run health care has become a sacred cow never to be discussed unless you want to suffer complete political death . (despite the fact we actually have a reasonable amount of private health care now). Practically and demonstrably it just makes sense. Politically it's death.1 point

Do they though? 70% support Oct 7th and... "However, if new parliamentary elections were held today with the participation of all political forces that participated in the 2006 elections, only 64% say they would participate in them, 30% would vote for Hamas, 14% for Fatah, 6% for third parties, and 15% remain undecided." https://www.pcpsr.org/en/node/969 So Hamas is the most popular party in for Palestinians and they overwhelmingly supported killing over 1000 civilians just because. You assertion that they hate being held hostage isn't supported by reality.1 point

That’s why we shouldn’t be depending on the US so much. Many NATO countries are preparing for it by ramping up their own defence spending. Trudeau is throwing around money on new programs like it is grass seed, he doesn’t seem concerned.1 point

"please!! Please acknowledge that i'm not stupid!!! PLEASE!?!?!" It's pathetic. I mean seriously - what percent of your posts are to me, like 80? 90? The lack of customer focus is unquestionable, but blaming it on middle managers, or their managers, is silly. Almost 1/4 working Canadians now works for the public service. That's absurd, and it's pretty much become a political class of its own in Canada. The Federal (and at least in Ontario) Provincial Liberals have feasted on this demographic during elections, and they've enjoyed a feedback loop that's symbiotic between them, but parasitic for the overall population. We have a bloated, ineffective and overpaid public sector that views the perpetuation of this arrangement as its primary goal, rather than the delivery of services to Canadians. Blame the middle managers if you want, but that's very Putinesque. Responsibility flows up, not down. Standing at the top are the Liberal governments, buying and paying for the votes that keep them in government.1 point
-
In order to get to 2%, the average taxpayer will have to pay an extra $700 in taxes. Spending on defence is easy. Getting the revenue to pay for it is the problem. Why do you think governments have let the Forces decline so much? If the voters wanted a credible Canadian military, the governments would do it. The fact that governments don't make defence a priority is because it isn't a priority for the voters. Beyond the increase in the Defence budget is the re-building in our armaments industry. That is a big price tag in its self.1 point
-
You again reduce your options to those that are the most pessimistic. There is the option to be strong, and for NATO to be strong. Which would deter a war just as it did in the cold war.1 point

If it were my life goal, my post count would look something like this: Alas, I go to work, do things outside the house, and don't have time for 40+ posts and engaging in a dozen internet battles with various people on any given day. Fortunately, you do such a good job making yourself look like an assclown that anyone can point it out. The fact that you can't make it to the second page of a thread without getting into a fight with someone and humiliating yourself speaks for itself. 🙃1 point

Nope, that's between you and them... I'm guessing y'all enjoy the banter so fire at will, it's of no interest to me. As to being off topic, some of the covid issues discussed here wouldn't be so contentious had people just minded their own business and left their neighbours in peace. There could easily be a 100 page thread on all aspects of that alone, the effects of it are broad spectrum with lasting consequences, some of which (like lipids vs the BBB) we don't even know about yet. I won't drag the thread further afield, I'll just leave you with a final thought: I'm suggesting that Covid was a big deal and that there's a lot of lessons here for the wise to reflect on. When I hear things like "the Governor has moved on" (I know you didn't say that BTW) or some condescending comment like "it's an old issue, get over son," I see that it usually comes from a contingent of people who were absolutely wrong about absolutely everything. Not only did they get everything wrong (that wasn't good enough for them) they had to hurt a bunch of people in the process and be mindlessly hateful whilst doing it. Insert snippy voice here "move along son." Well, not so damn fast partner... just who do you think you are? Look at the damage caused and then consider the effect of snippy, condescending comments or BS memes on those who refuse to entertain the prospect of covid madness version 2.0. It's not a statistically insignificant group and you may be in for a surprise by antagonizing them further. I was suggesting that doing so creates an easily anticipated backlash on election day, I was suggesting that the people who do that aren't going to like the result, and I was suggesting that all you had to do (not meaning you personally BTW) to avoid that was pretty much nothing. Clearly I can only speak for myself but the whole road rage thing doesn't work with me (or, dare I say, people like me). It actually works against the rager, they seem to confuse good nature with fearful compliance, those days are over, best just stay in your car now... I guess that was my point. Your meme was simply a target of opportunity, a vehicle to make that point, a chance to suggest that the authors of such memes may not like what's coming down the pipe and to suggest they only have themselves to blame for that. I'd also suggest they prepare to get crushed on election day and lose the support they previously enjoyed from moderate minded liberals. I see all of this as self inflicted and perfectly predictable. Were you really expecting a different result? As with the previous post, please note:1 point

Sounds like your idea of "success" is measured by how many shiny things you own. And how loud you gripe that someone else is stopping you from owning even more. Nor the hypocrisy of committing 'socialist' acts or even questioning them (medicare, ICBC, Autoplan, ALR, Greenspace etc) all the while portraying it the evil enemy.1 point
