  1. Indeed, we're pretty divided. One side thinks we're a democratic nation where the people vote choose the leadership via election The other side believes that the sitting vice president just gets to pick who wins. I wonder which side is in the right? It's a mystery.

  2. "Go with me to the Capitol right now and stop the steal or you won't have a country." ^^yeah, can't imagine how that lead to an attack. Such a casual remark. Who knows what it means?

  7. See, that’s the problem: You’re defending inflammatory language by saying, “Gee, he didn’t really mean it. He was lying.” Good for you that you think he speaks in secret code only known to The Faithful. But here’s the rub: The Faithful heard “The Secret Code,” then peacefully marched straight to the US Capitol, rioted, killed three police officers and stopped Congress from counting the electoral votes. “But he was only joking and everybody understood The Code” doesn’t hold up well under that. Yes, he said “peacefully.” One Time. He also said that the election was stolen, they had to stop the steal, and if they did not, they would not have a country any more. And his lawyers then told the crowd that, yes, the election really was stolen, they could prove it, but corruption was preventing the true winner, Trump, from taking office.

  10. If we spend two trillion dollars on this, which is what the Royal bank says it will cost, we will be a much poorer society without the wherewithal to put in place the expensive remediation infrastructure needed to deal with climate change. Meanwhile, the developing world, which contributes 68% of CO2 emissions, and which will be the main losers of a warming globe, are building coal plants as frantically as they can. If he was there by himself because no one else was willing to invade with him? Yes. Did these 'experts' say that if Canada spent two trillion to get to net zero it would have any appreciable impact on global warming?

  11. I can't disagree. But what happens when rights conflict as in a great many cases the courts have to render a decision on? If rights were absolute a decision would be next to impossible. So they try and do a balancing act.

  14. that's generally confined to a new upper class the Professional Managerial Elite if you talk to any working or lower middle class person, they know exactly what is going on thing is, Canada is not a republic there is no public rule in Canada so once an elite has seized control of all the institutions, there is no mechanism to unseat them

  15. Canada made some bold moves and sacrifices. It has so much potential, but it no longer feels like our governments are serving Canadians, especially the federal government. We’ve woken up to overcrowded cities with rising violence and governments pushing ideology that most sensible people would never want for their families or communities. It’s as though some group took Trudeau into a room at gunpoint and said, “You’re going to bring in millions of people, raise the cost of living, make it impossible for young people to buy homes, make people ashamed of Canada, and shame people who try to maintain a sense of human dignity. Give everyone that which is destructive: drugs, poverty, promiscuity, suicide, and shame. Make sure the country shuts down the development of its greatest strength, resource development. Saddle everyone with so much debt that our safety net becomes unaffordable. Ban protests and backstop it all with increased government powers and looser rules for the application of martial law. We’ll make sure you stay in power by stoking fear and manipulating the public, and when we return you can step aside so we can take what we want.” These are the effects of a naïve activist government that’s totally disconnected from most people’s reality and needs. It increasingly feels like Canadians are on the losing end of a mad social engineering experiment.

  20. Homeless people head to the west coast for the programs, lax laws/attitudes, and the better weather. Most homeless don't want to spend the winter in North Dakota. I saw a homeless person in a neighbouring suburb in my city for the first time in my entire life. It was just a typical middle class suburb, it was shocking.

  22. They caught them and released them. This was a police operation, not a store operation. VPD tried to get shoplifting under control by running a 'sting' so to speak at a number of stores. They caught hundreds of shoplifters - got good evidence and arrested them properly. But - the crown wouldn't lay charges. So you're incorrect from the get go. As to the rest i won't point out line by line all the stupidity, i'll just say you'll look less like a tard if you read the story before commenting. The stores are flooded with security these days to protect staff and customers. And it's still not really enough - and when bad guys ARE caught the courts will do nothing. It's a major problem with our 'catch and release' justice system.

  23. you've gone on ceaseless ranting & raving tirades against anyone who questioned the bizarre Chinese Communist style crackdown in the name of Covid you invoked your wife being in hospital, and I genuinely felt sympathy for you until I realized, this is just manipulation of the most nefarious kind playing on peoples heart strings to try to impose your radical leftist authoritarianism we all have to give up our rights and freedoms otherwise we are against the cancer patients that's exactly how the government was playing it

  24. Question is not should they but why aren't they. Working class is the majority. But wait- thought this was democracy, so why is the working class being bled dry while being led around by the nose. Just because they would "rule society" doesn't mean it would be communism. Working class people earn their way through life. If the poor non-working class ruled, they would want the government cheese.

He’s saying that overweight continues to be overweight, no matter how much we pretend that it’s healthy and “beautiful.” He’s bringing the reality principle to bear on the safe space people.

  29. Federal prosecutions have a very strong winning percentage of ~95%. And if Trump keeps violating the court's orders, Chutkan will accelerate the schedule to NEXT MONTH. LMAO Yes, Trump's attempt to overturn the election was HIS Nth step towards fascism, and that is DISGUSTING. As is your BLIND DEFENSE of his lawless actions. ? Hitler was also re-elected AFTER his conviction for a FAILED insurrection, and immediately set out the dismantle democracy in Germany. Hopefully the American voters are smarter than the Germans were.

  31. So the ban on Sunday shopping predates Bob Rae by a few decades and various forms of it date back to the 1800’s federally and in Ontario. It’s true that Rae initially vowed to uphold the ban because labour unions were against it (their fear was that it would lead to a return to the six-day work week) but it was ultimately Bob Rae’s government who repealed the ban and stores first legally opened in Ontario on Sunday June 7 1992

  34. They're not "catching" them and releasing. Retail stores have wrung their hands of the problem and are trying to pawn it off on anyone else the can. (0% of shoplifters never even end up in police hands. A minimum wage 16 yr old is not gonna confront a shoplifter. Neither is the 85 yr old door greeter with a walker. You want security, then f*cking PAY for it. Like someone who looks, acts and is built like a night club bouncer. That, sorry boys, just ain't gonna work for minimum wage. The supermarket the wife worked for did have a dork with little man syndrome who dealt with shoplifters, Drag them into the office, threaten them, take their picture and ban them from the store. No more, head office wasn't gonna pay so he could go to court. When a drunk one punched him out and he did call police. the guy threatened to sue. Head office gave him a written warning for defending himself. told him they weren't gonna pay anything for his lawyers, he could give them advance notice and use holiday time for court & legal appointments. So none of the other employees will do dick shit if you shoplift right under their noses. My last call out was because employees has disconnected security cameras, specifically so they wouldn't see shoplifting and have to DO something about it. Told the District Manager they got paid shit, hadn't had raises in years and he could fire them if he had a problem. So he did. And got a big bill from me to look at the system, inform him it was set up by an outfit no longer in business, locked down with irretrievable passwords and he had to buy a whole new system. Hell if I was gonna hack & fix it, cheap shit was already balking at my $50 call-out fee. The problem is more like a societal mental breakdown than a legal one. People are getting stupider and committing the stupidest, pettiest of minor crimes these days. Some halfwits on the Island just smashed into 8 stores with a truck the other day, not a one of which had cash or goods worth going to jail over. Biggest try was to steal a cash machine, the fools couldn't even mange to drag it out with a truck... not that they could've figured out how to get the money out of it
