An interesting combination of articles written by the Kays today. Not a coincidence, I'm guessing. First, this one from Jonathan Kay mentioning how ridiculous our country has gotten over the mostly false allegations of 'genocide' against natives. The Left in Canada has embraced this story to such a degree it's become a religion. Anyone daring to contradict it is a blasphemer and guilty of 'denialism'. In many countries, such as Poland, Russia, and Turkey, it is considered bad manners (or even a criminal act) to speak candidly of such nations’ real historical sins. But in Canada, the officially sanctioned fictionalization of history now runs in the opposite direction—toward apocalyptic self-incrimination. Even as hundreds of thousands of immigrants and refugees flock to Canada every year, we are required to embrace the lurid conceit that our country may be described in the same moral breath as (actual) genocidal states such as Nazi Germany and 1994-era Rwanda. A group of scholars even tried to get Canada prosecuted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity (with predictable results) Welcome to Canada the nation of genocidaires And then the second item, by Barbara Kay, details the attacks on a teacher for daring to contradict the prevailing 'wisdom', despite his remarks being brief and truthful. Here a school board is firing a teacher for telling his students, who were upset at the thought of all those children being 'murdered and tortured', that in fact, they mostly died of diseases like tuberculosis. Which is absolutely true, but apparently truth is not what Canadian schools are interested in teaching these days. In her above-mentioned report, Radomski concluded that, “regardless of Mr. McMurtry’s intent,” his expressed opinion that the deaths were due to disease was “inflammatory, inappropriate, insensitive and contrary to the district’s message of condolences and reconciliation.” Indeed, she found it inculpating that, “He left students with the impression some or all of the deaths could be contributed (sic) to ‘natural causes’ and that the deaths could not be called murder.” Her finding, therefore, was that McMurtry was guilty of “extremely serious professional misconduct.” Most unjustly. https://12ft.io/proxy?q=https%3A%2F%2Fnationalpost.com%2Fopinion%2Fas-this-b-c-teacher-found-out-even-speaking-the-truth-in-class-is-enough-to-get-an-educator-cancelled4 points

It's pretty clear to me that he did mean these things with regards to those that didn't want to be forced to vax. Misogynist? Racist? Very harsh and he didn't mince words. I guess it's par for the course for a man that has led a pretty pampered lifestyle and when people stand up to him he won't tolerate it.2 points

Can you two please keep your identity politics nonsense away from our military? You really don’t know why the military isn’t as diverse as you want it to be. You immediately jump to the conclusion that it must be because the military is racist instead of considering that maybe recent immigrants aren’t interested in joining a military for a slew of reasons. You don’t consider that maybe if someone has fled a war torn country like Ukraine or Syria, maybe he, she or they don’t want to potentially end up fighting in a war. The general was bang on in explaining why we’re in this mess and it has a lot to do with your mentality. Eyeball would rather rely on other countries to defend Canada, even if it puts Canadian independence at risk. Moonbox wants military to be a glorified equity hiring program where skill isn’t as important as whether someone is a member of a government-designated victim group targeted for government benefits and privileges.2 points

Of course the Covid jab isn’t necessary for kids. Omicron is a relatively mild illness for kids. Of course masking is another silly short term protection, as now kids have little immunity to multiple contagious illnesses. Are we going to spend billions on putting masks on people every flu season, hampering their social connections and turning them into paranoid freaks? Probably. Covid vaccines for kids are pushed at this point because government bought them.2 points

I agree with a lot of what you say except the part about the extreme right in the conservative movement. These days, being pro-life can be considered extremist when it is not. I think of the Chretien/Martin era when they were very aggressive in trying to balance the budget, and they were successful. Many of us didn't like how they did it at the time, but it did work. Currently, any Conservative politician that would propose these same kinds of measures would immediately be labeled a right-wing extremist People and the MSM have always been far more forgiving to the Liberals than they would to the Conservatives, even when both governments are enacting virtually identical policies. Liberal energy policy drives me nuts. The same can be said for the majority of democratic leaders world-wide. They are moving way too fast without a reliable alternative in place. Yes to more hybrids, yes to nuclear powered container ships. Yes to more nuclear energy. I think it makes more sense to adapt to the climate than to squander trillions while China and India sit back and laugh. John Robson had a good article years ago suggesting that Conservatives might have more success if they actually were more conservative and not emulating the Liberals.2 points

"White nationalist rage and threats of violence, up to and including civil war. And Republicans are seemingly happy to either sit back and watch it happen or, in many cases, to add fuel to the already out-of-control right wing terrorist fire burning in America." ... Nationalists are now the #1 domestic terrorist threat in America. You've all read what the Nationalists on this forum have threatened. The internet has b come their sounding board, its become these domestic terrorists vehicle for spreading their rage. "Civil War was trending on Twitter with people wondering if it will happen. It has already begun…. except for the shooting,” influencer Juanita Broaddrick declared on Truth Social, which Trump established after twitter banned him. Influencer Lydia Shaffer, who names herself ‘Conservative Barbie,’ posted: “Civil war has been declared,’” the center’s study said." The white house and the DOJ have set up specific units to monitor and disrupt these domestic terrorists, focusing on individuals and small cells. These moronic Nationalist fools are setting to themselves up for a hard fall. Giant Wind Farms Arise Off Scotland, Easing the Pain of Oil’s Decline “Oil and gas workers, losing their jobs as fossil fuel investment wanes, find work in the wind energy business. Across the globe, governments and developers are pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into large offshore wind farms like Beatrice to meet climate-change goals. Britain is already generating more than 10 percent of its electricity from wind at sea, and on same gusty days, like Nov. 2, wind produces more than half. As energy security becomes a critical issue in wake of Russia’s war in Ukraine, the country aspires to nearly quadruple offshore capacity over the next decade. The Beatrice wind farm takes its name from a nearby offshore oil field that was depleted and will be gradually dismantled. Skepticism about the future of fossil fuels remains strong in Britain and much of Europe, and the numbers tell a story of decline. After reaching a peak in 2014, investment in oil and gas in Britain plummeted by about three-quarters to around £3.7 billion last year.” So where will America be in 20 years? Dependent on yesterday’s energy technology, or leading the world with abundant, cheap energy? https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/27/business/scotland-wind-farms-offshore.html1 point

quote 7. In socialism, the state attempts to control all communication “In socialistic countries, centralisation of the means of communication and transport is in the hands of the State.” In communist nations, people are not allowed to have freedom of speech. Violations can be severely punished (I.e., “Meta-owned Facebook and Twitter have been blocked in China since 2009”). Since God owns the world, nobody has the right to restrict free speech, especially the proclamation of the gospel (Psalm 24; Acts 1:8-9). 8. In socialism, a utopia comes from a revolutionary change from the outside in. “Marx’s utopianism lay in the aim of abolishing the distinction between state and civil society, and in the harmony he assumed would emerge.” This goes against the biblical principle that systemic change doesn’t start from the outside. Instead, it starts from the inside when people are born again in their hearts from above (John 3:3-8). 9. Socialism categorizes people as either the oppressed or the oppressors. The Marxist revolutions were started by inciting the so-called proletariat to overthrow the social systems of the so-called bourgeoisie, thus pitting poor and rich citizens against each other. This violates the Bible principles of justice and impartiality in which God commands us not to show favoritism to either the rich or the poor (Leviticus 19:15). Also, a popular form of contemporary socialism called “critical theory” violates biblical principles by categorizing people based upon their sexual identity, economic status, skin color, ethnicity, or gender. Biblically, there is only one human race made in the image of God. In Christ, all the walls that divide humanity have been broken down (Genesis 1:27; Galatians 3:28, Ephesians 2:14-22). 10. Socialists believe the Government is responsible for all social care. In Socialist and Communist countries, the state is responsible for caring for the poor and providing all goods and services necessary for citizens. They would conceptually view families, churches, and nonprofits as competition to the state if they attempted to do the same. Contrariwise, scripture admonishes Christians, churches, and ministries to serve as benefactors to their larger secular community as witnesses to the gospel (Luke 10:25-37; Galatians 6:10; Titus 2:14; Titus 3:8). unquote 10 Reasons Why Socialism and Marxism are Antithetical to Biblical Christianity - Mattera Ministries International (josephmattera.org) The argument democracy produced Socialism is also a false argument. If democracy produced it then the majority are wrong and produced an evil system, i.e. Socialism. The other thing is the democratic system is also at fault. The Liberal or NDP government can win an election with less than 40% of the vote because of the division of votes among various parties. If the system delivered Socialism then it only proves the democratic system is seriously flawed and corrupt and the voters are wrongheaded, which seems to be the case. The majority supported Hitler in the 1930s in Germany. Does that mean he was righteous or a honourable leader? Of course not. You might be able to make the argument that a very limited system of taxation was not Socialism if it were used for only a FEW essential things such as paying for the armed forces, highways, and a few other essential things. But when the taxation is such that it takes a major part of one's income in order to fund all kinds of social programs and have government provide everything for everyone, then that is Socialism. It removes freedom and makes everyone a servant of the state.1 point
-
The argument you use that taxation is not Socialism is false because there are at least ten strong reasons why Socialism is anti-Christian. quote 10 Reasons Why Socialism and Marxism are Antithetical to Biblical Christianity APRIL 12, 2022/ 0 COMMENTS / UNDER : SOCIETAL TRANSFORMATIONS Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote The Communist Manifesto in 1848, relating it to what they called “scientific socialism.” The 20th century and beyond are fraught with examples of the embarrassing failures of both communism and socialism (I.e., The Former Soviet Union, Venezuela, North Korea, Cuba, Soviet-era Eastern Germany, to name a few). Despite this dubious history, we currently have high-profile political leaders, like congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio promoting a form of Marxism called “democratic socialism.” The following are ten reasons why socialism is antithetical to the tenets of biblical Christianity. Socialism is against the biblical view of the nuclear family. Marxists argue that “the nuclear family performs ideological functions for Capitalism – the family acts as a unit of consumption and teaches passive acceptance of hierarchy. It is also the institution through which the wealthy pass down their private property to their children, thus reproducing class inequality.” Hence, socialism is against the biblical principle of parental rights related to their children and the prominence of the nuclear family (Genesis 1:28-29, Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians 5:22-6:4). 2. Socialists claim education belongs solely to the state Marxist education aims at producing faithful citizens. Therefore, it is primarily an ideological tool to program children to be loyal to the state. In communist and socialist nations, education and the curriculum are controlled by the state and are not considered the responsibility of the parents. Models like homeschooling children would be illegal. This contradicts the biblical framework regarding parents being responsible for educating their children the way they choose (Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 6:6-9). 3. Socialists claim the state deserves the highest allegiance. In many communist nations like the former Soviet Union and contemporary countries like North Korea and China, Bibles are confiscated, churches buildings are burned, and evangelism is illegal. This is because they see Christianity as a rival religion to the authority of the humanistic secular state. This goes against the biblical command to put first God’s Kingdom and worship and serve Jesus as the only true Lord (Matthew 6:33; 1 Timothy 6:15). 4. “Socialists believe in the abolition of private property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.” This is antithetical to the biblical premise of the individual right to own private property and the command for believers to create wealth to promote God’s covenant (Exodus 20:15; Deuteronomy 8:18; 1 Kings 20:6, Isaiah 65:21-22; Mark 10:39-21). 5. Socialism advocates a progressive income tax. In a socialist system, people are taxed based on their income. This is called a progressive tax structure. As an example of the influence of socialism in the United States, “The top 1 percent (taxpayers with AGI of $546,434 and above) earned 20.1 percent of total AGI in 2019 and paid 38.8 percent of all federal income taxes. In 2019, the top 1 percent of taxpayers accounted for more income taxes paid than the bottom 90 percent combined.” This goes against the biblical principle that all people, irrespective of their income, should pay the same percentage which is a “flat tax.” (This is similar to the Biblical principle of the tithe which is 10% of a person’s income (Leviticus 27:30; Proverbs 3:8-10; Matthew 23:23).) 6. Socialism opposes the rights of a family inheritance. In a contemporary Marxist and Socialist framework, either leaving an inheritance to children is not allowed, or the state confiscates much of the family inheritance through double taxation. This goes against the biblical principle of leaving an inheritance to children (Proverbs 13:22). unquote 10 Reasons Why Socialism and Marxism are Antithetical to Biblical Christianity - Mattera Ministries International (josephmattera.org) con'd in next post1 point

Children should learn history. They should learn about the hard work that went into settling Canada and also the injustices that happened. It’s a bigger problem when the injustices aren’t taught, because when kids later learn of them; they become distrustful of their society. You say you want a better, unified Canada. Teach it all; the good and the bad.1 point

What do you believe the typical applicant to the military is like? Do you think he/she is more likely to be on the left side of the political fence or the right? Someone who works with their hands, or someone who sits behind a computer? Blue collar or white collar? Visible minorities make up 28% of the population and almost all of them are immigrants who come from countries where soldiers are neither admired nor trusted- nor paid very well. They didn't come all the way here to be soldiers or to have their kids join the army or navy either. And the fact almost everyone knows the military is ignored, neglected and short-changed by the government, with castoff forty year old gear almost certainly plays a major roll in why people aren't joining up. And why people are leaving. A lot of young men joined the military to experience overseas missions which we no longer have because we can't afford them. This surprises you? Women have never had much interest in soldiering. Women have particular interests and men do too. This is why women rarely elect to take computer engineering or mathematics in school, opting for teaching, sociology and medicine instead. No, it really isn't. Nor has the military ever reflected our demographics. Nor is there any advantage I can see to it doing so. Donald Trump.1 point

That’s dismissive and unfair. Why throw billions at a bogus solution to a problem that may not exist or may not be something that we can impact in any measurable and meaningful way? Even if you think human made impacts can be mitigated to make changes that can make life better for billions, you haven’t illustrated how they can be substantively reduced without creating bigger problems. I think tech is the only answer, but it will happen gradually and I’m not convinced that we’re in a climate crisis. I do think more people are impacted by bad weather and natural disasters than in the past because there are more people in the world and many people living in coastal areas, more than ever in history.1 point

Carbon taxes should be made illegal. They’re simply a tax grab used to pay for more centrally planned ineffectual programs. BC residents won’t figure it out because these are the same people who can’t understand why crime and deaths are rising in Vancouver as government hands out free drugs and police have stopped all hard drug enforcement. People will only make the obvious connections when it impacts them personally, such as when their kids can’t find a safe playground free of needles or they can’t afford to buy the fuel they need to take grandma to her medical appointment.1 point

Canadians are suckers who accept high taxes, including carbon taxes, that fail to reduce greenhouse gasses. It’s that simple. I’m currently visiting a U.S. state with no state sales tax. US citizen wages have grown at a higher rate than Canadian wages and they are taxed far less with better results for emissions. Nevertheless the Canadian government continues to fleece citizens to pay for stupid projects. The HST is another way that Canadians are mistreated. The rational for it was to throw a massive consumption tax at citizens to keep exports cheap. Basically foreigners can get Canadian goods more cheaply than Canadians. The tax burden in Canada has to be reduced substantially, but it won’t happen because Canadians have been taught that high taxes give them good services such as our failed healthcare system.1 point

First, this totally changes conventional definition of "vaccine" that presumes clear and lasting benefit to the receiver. It is deliberate misleading, bordering on professional misconduct to clearly and deliberately confuse the public using a common word for something with quite different meaning. Two: no, not "you should" but you can IF you choose freely. Where else can we get down this path under this banner? China knows. Three: when was the benefit proven in an open and transparent public discussion as opposed to robed magicians waving their hands / notebooks? Four: does massive ongoing propaganda amount to coercion, at least psychological one? See above for "free choice". So many questions but none mattered because we just can. No question needed, no answers expected no checks even common sense and no accountability. Where will it take us?1 point

There are many different shades of politicians and political ideologies. The world is not black and white. But most of them can fit under the heading of Socialists of one form or another if that makes you feel better. Socialists lump every individual under the mass group. That is exactly what Health Minister Dix in B.C. does. You can hear it in his words when he is speaking about problems in the health care system. Thousands of surgeries for cancer and other problems have been put on hold and delayed. Yet the government just announced it has 5.6 billion dollars surplus in B.C. Why didn't they fix the health care system and why has it been failing and many died as a result? A woman recently on the news has a huge tumour behind her ear and has been on the waiting list for surgery for months. This has grown immensely and they may have to take half her face and side of her head off. How long will she survive? If she survives, this will be life changing. Thank the delay on the waiting list. Yet one NDP MLA who became a cabinet minister recently had her department donate 15 million dollars to what is basically an environmental organization. That's taxpayer money used to promote Socialism.1 point

How do we ensure the poor are able to afford to live if the government doesn't help them. Where is the government to get that money? The carbon tax is a program that lets you minimize what you pay. If you want to reduce your contribution, reduce your carbon emissions. You will be helping to keep future generations out of the barbeque as well. It is only a small measure but then the carbon tax isn't much money to pay anyway. The cost of doing something now is tiny compared to what a warming planet will cost.1 point
