The forum is a fine illustration of a gradual but very steady and absolutely predictable degradation of the political system in the absence of any meaningful checks and standards. Just / only give it a time, some time.3 points

You need another financial advisor, and do it before you bleed out, I have many mutual funds and they are all doing quite well, with some stocks paying out 7 % dividends per quarter at minimum.2 points

What a bunch of smoking bullshit, if anyone can afford it they should be able to buy whatever they want. That is the difference between communism and democratic society where you are free to own almost anything if you can afford it. Unless it scares the liberals then they ban it, like a huge swath of firearms.2 points

of those on the forum who highly prioritize environmental issues some are useful idiots but most are extremists all the reasonable people are calling out the extremists not defending them or acting like they don't exist2 points

Ya know what? I don't believe a word of this. And why? Because I've read some of your posts. You are one of these extremists.2 points

I can't sell logic to someone driven totally by emotion especially someone driven by resentment and envy of obviously beneficial things all your suggestions are tear things down in fact the things you want to tear down most are the very things that build things up the most and you have zero idea of how to properly replace them once torn down there is no reasoning with you, you are totally immune to it they don't come any more irrational than you facts don't care about your feelings2 points

Your post above refers to garbage posted by a spammer, which has been removed. You better change it, as it is now misleading - people will have no clue what you are talking about.1 point

Ukraine has serious problems with corruption and extremist right-wing groups. This was exposed under the Trump administration. Yup. Pat yourself on the back. The biggest psy-ops in human history and you kept your head and your humanity all through it. Now they're starting it with "climate change crisis". Many are noticing how MSM weather reporting is depicting weather maps in RED now. Yet the temperatures haven't changed in the last 20 years when TV weather maps displayed the EXACT SAME TEMPERATURES in greens and blues. They know the moo-moo cows will see the RED maps now and be very afraid. Fearful people are easy to control.1 point

Hey muffin man, our governments have been based on capitalism, since before i can remember. Well that is how capitalism works my communist friend, and yes we have had slavery, and we still do around the globe, inequality, is going to be around long after me and you are turned to dust... Nothing is for free, don't want to rent then do something about it, improve your job, education, anything, do not think for one second someone is going to hand you the keys to the kingdom, that's only in fairy tales... Millions of Canadians do this every day to climb the ladder to a better life. It's not my concept, it was here way before me, and will be here for some time, after... capitalism is here to stay, everyone is chasing the old almighty dollar, those that do not chase well they are the ones that get left behind. I like most Canadians have worked hard for what we have in life, and i don't want to give any of it up because people want things handed to them...like the newer generations..1 point

Actually they peaked at 21%. I had to renew in 83 at 18%. However, people weren't having to commit as high a percentage of their income toward buying a home back then. The home I paid $72K for in 1979 is now assessed at $1.245M.1 point

I'm using facts and you're not, because there are no facts on your side. All of you guys who keep saying that Russia has no excuse are awfully slow to condemn Kennedy for almost starting WWIII just because there were some missiles in Cuba. The violence that you should be worried about is by your own government against peaceful protesters who just want sovereignty over their own arteries.1 point

It is not a recent trend to blame the leader, it has always been the leader's reasonability for the success or failure of every project they take on. Leaders are quick to take credit for success, so what is wrong with holding the leader responsible for the failures, happens in the corporate world, NHL, Military, and every other organization all the time. Success is not measured by how well you did against those around you..."Well, at least we did better than Johnny". Success should be measured by, how many of the objectives did we meet on this particle issue.1 point

Population is actually plateauing. Faster than expected. Even India's population has plateaued. The only continent, whose population continues to increase is Africa. But overall, the world will hit a plateau between 2050-2070. After which, it will start to decline. We can improve the way we live, and stop being parasites. Although at a slow pace, we are heading towards that. There are still some industries who are trying to milk the status quo, which is expected. Of course, they use propaganda for the everyday folks to continue to push the same. They use the fear of the unknown to bring fear into them and for them to resist change, on behalf of them. We have the technology to improve our system, how we live and how we treat our environment. The idea of the following, I find to be great. Too bad it's being done by Saudi:1 point

Seems to me that I educated you on Mandela and Malcom X so, I am sure you knew nothing about them. Called you out and now you do whatever to back out. I very much understand constitutional rights. I know that you don't and keep making false claims about them. What constitutional right has been breached in the case if Lich? Exactly? Chapter and verse.? You cannot because there is none breached. Don't deflect. Don't run off your mouth with senseless deflection banter. Exactly what chapter and verse is broken in her case. Simple question and should be easy for you to answer if you are such a constutional expert.1 point

If you think I'm a climate extremist you have never actually met one. You should try going outside and talking to real people sometime. I can only conclude: A: you own a massive amount of Oil shares B: you're ignorant all the way down to your bones and believe anyone who so much as gives a shit about the environment is your enemy ? you only post to this forum to troll and be contrary and obnoxious as you realize you have nothing intelligent to contribute1 point
-
It sounds like it's generally been drawn between 80 - 95% on both the causes of recent climate change and the need to take action to mitigate our contribution to it. The strong consensus has been there for a long time now and its remained strong. Theories don't prove, they explain. Evidence can prove things that give weight to a theory. If you're looking for 100% consensus you'll never find it in science or anywhere else so I ask again, where else is this absolute standard applied to issues that challenge us? Is it used in your profession? I doubt it and I bet you know it but will lay down your own life, as well as the lives of others, despite the uncertainty. I mean if 100% is the standard people need before taking action they wouldn't even get out of bed in the mornings for fear they might break their neck on the way to the can. As for a society that tries to apply such a standard it probably couldn't even cooperate it's way out of a wet-paper bag.1 point

To round it up: Russia has no reasons not even slightest ones to be in Ukraine. Psycho cannot barge in your house because they had childhood issues and a bad nightmare. Only psycho arguments, so a psycho country yes it happens we know. Yes with nukes, so what. Now what's with that inquiry?1 point

Is this more retroactive crime, where we apply modern standards to historic social mores, values, and laws? What’s the statute of limitations on that? Can my ancestors seek reparations for the property they left behind as Loyalists fleeing America around 250 years ago? What about the tribes who warred against each other, killed, raped, and pillaged? Should we have a trial for the ghosts? If more than half of our population immigrated to Canada within the last two generations, what do they owe the descendants of the colonized? If we’re going to “right” all these historic wrongs, once we’re done (by whose standards, we don’t know), will we rescind the benefits to Indigenous of unjust Indian Act, including tax exemptions, free education and healthcare? Ryerson died before residential schools were invented, but the social good he demonstrated by founding free public education and supporting Indigenous land rights is now evil because, well, it fits the colonial narrative. We know today that the residential schools were misguided, but it was the left-leaning progressives who ushered them in to give literacy to Indigenous. There was no way to get an education without living away, but the forced removal of children from home, the repression of language and culture, and the many instances of abuse and crowding were wrong. The victims who are alive today have received payouts and apologies that will never be enough, yet we have to reconcile and find common ground. Seeking scape goats and pretending that we should’ve known much better than we did doesn’t help. Stupid mistakes were made. When we know better, generally, we do better. The Pope has apologized as much as he physically can, but he didn’t commit those injustices. Indigenous also committed injustices, but the immigrants kept coming and the dominant cultures dominated. It’s the story of the clash of civilizations throughout history. We have new problems today. Threats to our economy and constitutional rights today are real. The Indigenous file is one of our many challenges and many interests are competing for attention and money.1 point

You didn’t call anything out. I stand by everything I said. You think the government’s and state-funded media’s treatment of the protesters was fair. You think they’re losers and radicals. You see no legitimacy in the opposition of millions of Canadians against the mandates and think that the use of the Emergencies Act, freezing of bank accounts, etc. wasn’t a big deal. You think the person who led the movement is a trashy loser who deserves being detained because, in your words, she’s “stupid.” I don’t respect those opinions, and your fake outrage at my comparison of Lich to other political activists is also gross.1 point

Some people believe in causes, and are willing to put themselves on the line for it. Interesting that you think she deserves jail for stupidity, but that the charges will be dropped. Well, not really. But that could be bad for Mr. Turdeau. She will also be a hero to some people, and may receive financial assistance as a form of “backing” for her cause.1 point

1. economic growth leads to the technological growth that reduces pollution killing technological growth will simply lock in the kind of pollution you are constantly freaking out about 2. you couldn't even write that message on an internet forum when the earth was at 3 billion in population plenty of major innovations occurred after reaching that population mark 3. there was worse pollution before plastics, pipelines and machines these things reduced pollution, but you don't know anything about history so you think pollution only began after these things were invented 4. false, they invaded plenty of spaces and wiped out more forests prior to the industrial revolution they used to burn wood instead of coal for energy, but again you know nothing about history, luddite 5. the more people that escape poverty the more people want to clean up the environment the best defense against environmental degradation is reducing poverty wealthier countries also have less kids, so if you are so worried about high population levels, prosperity is the quickest path to that as well 6. wealth keeps the population from exploding poverty keeps the population exploding look at the countries with highest birth rates, are they rich or poor? they are poor look at the countries with the lowest birth rates, are they rich or poor? they are rich look at the countries with lowest birth rates today, did they have way higher birth rates when they were poor? yes, they did as usual, you're full of shit you can't be a real environmentalist while being an anti-capitalist, they are mutually exclusive being the later deeply undermines the former, you're a fake environmentalist who really is just anti-capitalist you're one the commies who hijacked the environmentalist movement to sell communism using a nicer sounding label1 point

We don't have "Liberal" courts. Judges are appointed for their knowledge of law, not their politics. You may not like their decisions, but they're based on law. That's why they're Judges and you're not.1 point

Huh...and you assume that your opinions are just the correct ones because...? People this is why Libbies need to be marginalized. The hubris is not supported by results. I think the affirmation of a guy like Trump is important now. Like him or hate him, he is who he is. He’s more real, more actually street than a guy like Trudeau. It’s the symbol of 80’s excess, the last great time. We need to bring that back. Fuck this woke over sensitivity to people. Mix and mingle, cultural exchange, learn from each other. Leave the keys on the bankers desk and drive away out of town. That's what a couple friends did when Mackenzie collapsed in the 1980s. 3 kids and everything you could fit into or strap onto a Ford Escort and off to Vancouver. Those 18% mortgages were a bitch. Both of us had full time union jobs and didn't have two nickels left to rub together. No furniture - people had to bring their own chairs to our first house warming party. Futon on the bedroom floor, Sally Ann kitchen table.... no one will do that these days. They want it all, right now.1 point
