It's a ghost town around here, I just took my dogs out for a walk around the neighborhood and there's literally nobody on the streets

Well, being a good prepper, we already have video and IR sensor alarms around the perimeter.   Audio alerts on contact, including the damn rabbits and squirrels.

Some idiot mom was escorting her son door-to-door trying to sell candy bars for fundraising in the middle of a pandemic.    They were detected and rejected !

Yes but have you got one? What if they come for you and nobody shoots and then somebody comes for him yadda yadda etc etc?

I do have one, but if you aren't clay and orange, you're safe.

Edit>  actually, you're pretty safe even if you are, given my recent scores

There's too much wildlife around here for remote sensors, I can see everything without cameras, and I have tons of depth to back out, drop the wife off, then counterattack

Actually inside my house without warning is an extremely remote prospect, but even then, that would be them stuck in here with me, not the other way round.

Yes but aside from its funding, is what the state DOES with the NPR the same?  It's not a member of the destroy Trump media mob Deepstate the CBC is part of - and you can let your hearts be untroubled?

Not to the same degree....perception or reality.  PBS/NPR has the same level of potential liberal bias (e.g. "Frontline"), but they got in trouble before (bias) and have to protect the government funding they do get through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.   NPR is much more balanced than CNN or Fox.

The CBC is far more dependent on such funding.    Harper and Trudeau get treated accordingly.

The main goal is an overt appearance of "security system", yard signs, IR illuminators at night, etc. to send bad guys to a weaker target.   Plus it is fun to play with and see some of the crazy stuff that happens...day and night.   Helped my neighbour with her SUV theft years ago....now they have cameras too.   Very popular these days with cheap solutions and WiFi (Ring doorbell, Simpli-Safe, etc.).

Can relate this to Trudeau and Canada's perimeter too for staying on topic.   He waited too long to act, and that is not just my opinion, but the opinion of many Canadians I read with online comments.

Trudeau just seems so...passive.

I am starting to get sick and tired of these now becoming dictator mayors, MLA's, and MP's trying to tell me that I must practice this stupid thing called "social distance". I cannot do anything anymore of what I use to be able to do. Some stunned mayors are starting to shut down parks and playgrounds, recreation centers, and even some hiking trails for gawd's sake. Parents need a bit of a break with their children and be able to go outside and play with their kids in some park. Now some cannot.

It's time to call this for what it really is? A bloody big farce. There may be a flu virus roaming around out there but flu viruses have been around for centuries. People always will die from some new virus out there every year in the hundreds of thousands. What makes this one so different? The media is exaggerating the numbers to try to cause total panic among the sheeple who will believe all this nonsense about the sky is falling in flu virus. My wife is going to have a birthday party this weekend and we will have just nine family members only there because ten others backed out because of this bs going on. I guess that we will have to keep it a secret from the authorities because if they find out that we are more than five people we could face a fine or maybe even jail. Wake up you bunch of lemmings out there. No matter what these dictator politicians try to do to make our lives miserable and boring as hell, eventually we will all get tired of self isolation and social distancing and begin to rebel and start going out again.

It's funny that Netflix just happened to have produced a series called "Pandemics" for release in 2020 before we even had this so called flu pandemic outbreak. I am pretty sure that this was just coincidence, right? Chuckle-chuckle.

This thing is just getting started, wait for it, in coming weeks it is only going to get worse.... one of the reasons it is going to get worse is people like you with the attitude that this is all some game...., these precautions are not only for your safety but others as well , like your family, friends anyone you come into contact with, or ones that are forced to come into contact with you once your sick.....like doctors, hospital staff , EMT, etc  etc.... one person can effect hundreds... As time goes on your not going to have a chioce, to follow new directives.... and all government agencies will start cracking the whip, taking away more of your civil liberties...because their is always one in the crowd....that ruins it for everyone else...

With my Trump Wall & my neighbors Trump Wall, this is practically a walled compound.

Then we have the woods, you don't want to go against me in the tall grass if you're not Ranger qualified

I am the neighborhood watch, I'm up at all hours in overwatch.

There's very little crime around here usually, in six years there was one woman who parked her car here to snort some drugs, I ran her off

The other incident was a distraught young women with a baby in a domestic dispute with her boyfriend banging on my door in the middle of the night

I called the cops, they were here in two minutes

And that's about it since I've lived here

There are rougher parts around here, but they are miles away in town, and still f*ck all by Toronto standards

Maybe Trudeau gets more of a pass because of the federal-provincial relationship and power sharing, but he is being directly compared to Trump/USA anyway.

Absent that, Trudeau would be even more likely to passively follow the WHO, UN, etc.

The problem with that is that the WHO took its sweet ass time to declare a pandemic and criticized travel bans.

@bush_cheney2004

To illustrate how low crime it is around here, one time my neighbor left his garage door open when he drove off

I can't see his door being open because he's beside me so I didn't notice

It was open all day and into the night

That night I saw movement in his yard and I knew he wasn't home, so I closed up to observe this guy in the dark

The guy went to the my neighbors back door and looked like he might be testing it

Hair stands up on my neck, an actual intruder ?  Adrenaline dump.

Then a radio crackles to life, it's not an intruder, it's the local constable come to see why the garage door is open, I go out front and there are two police cruisers

I'm from the 6ix, so I always lock my doors, but we could honestly get away with not locking them around here

Should we have have banned travellers from China from flying into Canada back in January when the US did it?

USA:

total cases=44,183

total death=544

per million population cases=135

Canada:

total cases=2792

total death=27

per million population cases=75

However, some people still believed that Trump was smarter than Trudeau...

It's funny, I was down the street checking on one of the old ladies around here, seeing if she needed anything, and I told her where I lived

She says "Oh, you're the American !" little bit dubious of me now

I says, it's okay, maam, my mother is Canadian

"Oh,  good !!!"  say she.  lol

Trump must think the planked curve graph is actually a poll where the higher curve is the one to strive for.

Wrong again. I don't have people telling me my facts are wrong. I get people ignoring key facts and replying with off-topic answers.

Even if your facts are right, that doesn't mean the deranged conclusions you draw from those facts are right. Same goes for the Trump Derangement Crowd. You are attempting to create a distinction without a difference, just because you think your hatred of Trudeau is more justified than their hatred of Trump doesn't mean you aren't deranged, the TDS crows also thinks their hatred of Trump is more justified than your hatred of Trudeau, that doesn't mean they aren't deranged though.

There's two ways you can do it, like Singapore or like Canada

SInga Pura Lion City is a totally militarized society on the brink of war at all times

Canada is not

Singapore trusts the people to follow instructions to the letter with military bearing and not have to be told twice

The Canadian government does not

Elite troops are given latitude

Raw recruits have to be locked down at all times

I said on this forum that Singapore could defeat Canada in a war, and that is coming to pass right now

Places with a destroyed economy in a war tend not to do well, especially compared to economies that are far more intact, who knew? South Korea knows, and they would kick Canada's ass in a war too. It's like you always say, war is logistics, and completely shutting down the economy in a panic via government decree, isn't good for logistics.

Eye the reporting of cases is not accurate so  the comparisons Xul gave care meaningless. This is exactly the problem... throwing out inaccurate stats and drawing conclusions. I again repeat the stats are not accurate as the actual known cases are not reported. In fact what we do know is the US rate is probably lower for the simple reason it has more untreated unreported cases where people already recovered. You are using snap shotc stats from a given moment based on incomplete reports and the stats changes all the tim

Xul this virus is not  some sort of contest over who dies more...real dumb..this issue is about mortality rates as increased by the virus not death rates.

The last sentence please find out the difference. Next the US system has nothing at all to do with Trump. Next it in fact has better detection. Nextccomoaring a country with so many more people to Canada makes little sense.

Trump is not thinking about anything most of us already know and that is we can not hide from this virus like we are now. It is not working. It's a panacea to placate your fears. Slowing down a virus transmission is a pr stunt tocalm you down.

Eventually this pretense will no longer work. Proper hygiene management and testing is the key not isolation. We now know that. The question is how do we create better reporting and hygiene management protocol and better detection of viruses so we can deal with the issue head on not avoid or hide from it. That is not Trump saying it. Its many doctors now. Creating a police state is not the answer.

I Edited this response. I unintentionally wrote it to sound like the info I was debating came from Eye which is notvfair. I meant only to debate the comparison to Eye and Xul nothing else.

Like I said earlier, you just don't see the seriousness of a lot of these issues.

Even the simple act of referring to members of islamic state as "fighters" is a really big deal. That's not a "distinction without a difference", talk about a dog whistle lol. That's a clear message that he does not take a dim view of islamic terrorism or the genocide that they committed. That's backed up by several other actions by our PM so it's not all that surprising, but it's alarming that our MSM didn't notice it. If Trump referred to a group of white supremacists who just came back from committing genocide somewhere as "fighters" the Canadian MSM would go supernova. Our PM basically danced on the graves of genocide victims and our MSM giggled, fawned on him and boasted of his magnificence.

I'm literally in awe of the stupidity and the uselessness of our own media.

OMG I tried so hard to find the video of Monty Burns training his dogs for this but I couldn't.

He had cardboard cutouts of some girls guides and the guard dogs didn't shred them fast enough. Monty was in a huff and he said "If those were real girl guides I would have been bothered by now!" Best Simpsons line ever.
