Boges Posted December 9, 2015 Author Report Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) Garret Sparks is 4-1 as a Leafs Goalie. This team may not be "real" contenders but they're a much better fundamental team under Babcock. Edited December 9, 2015 by Boges Quote

kimmy Posted December 12, 2015 Report Posted December 12, 2015 Could the Oil finnish at the bottom of the league again this year? Great story with the rookie debut of Garret Sparks. http://www.tsn.ca/sparks-earns-shutout-in-nhl-debut-as-maple-leafs-blank-oilers-1.402333 The Oilers have 5 straight wins since the loss to the Leafs, and have beaten teams like the Stars, Rangers, Bruins, and Penguins. They have played themselves back into basically a tie with everybody who isn't the Kings in the Pacific Division. And this is with McDavid, Yakupov, and Pouliot all out of the lineup with injuries. Taylor Hall is completely freaking out right now and Leon Draisaitl has come out of the AHL and put up 26 points in 20 NHL games this year. He has the makings of becoming a monster center. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

Black Dog Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 But most of all. they are getting goaltending that does not put them in a giant hole every game. That's the most important development. I said all along this team just needed league average goaltending to compete. Quote

I think in a year they'll be a playoff team without adding to the D. Klefbom and Nurse are bluechippers and Sekera has been solid. If they could pry Hamonic out of the Island they'd be set. That or sign big Buff in the offseason. Quote
Boges Posted December 14, 2015 Author Report Posted December 14, 2015 Enough Oiler talk. The Leafs are going to change their logo and Stamkos wants to sign with the them. Quote

The_Squid Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 The NHL is a sexist organization that normalizes violence against men and concussions in society. Shame on all of you for supporting such an organization. How is it sexist? Is women's tennis sexist too? Is everything sexist in your skewed view of the world? How does it "normalize violence against men"? Do you think the same thing of any sport where a fight might break out? Baseball? It normalizes concussions? Can you provide an example of how concussions have been normalized in society? Quote
-1=e^ipi Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 Is everything sexist in your skewed view of the world? Well according to Anita Sarkeesian, everything is sexist. And she was at the UN telling people how we need to censor the internet, so she must be right! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SA0aKjY8K50 How does it "normalize violence against men"? Do you think the same thing of any sport where a fight might break out? Baseball? You can play hockey without ramming people into boards, punching each other in the head, slashing each other, etc. Yet the NHL glorifies it and the penalty for such violence is either non-existent or minor (2 minutes in the penalty box for assault). And the fans in their sick twisted desire for violence encourage such aggression. Look at professional soccer, it is a very similar game and strongly discourages violence. Can you provide an example of how concussions have been normalized in society? I was assaulted and suffered a concussion. Does that count? Quote
Michael Hardner Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 Is hockey sexist ? An interesting question, perhaps, but it needs its own thread. Please don't post it on here moving forward as it's thread drift. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner

That or sign big Buff in the offseason.except to sign Hamonic they'd have to give up either Nurse or Klefbom plus a forward plus perhaps a draft pick. That is why Snow has not managed to trade Hamonic yet- he wants a Hamonic in return. The OIlers goal this year should be 80 points. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!

overthere Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 6 wins in a row! Flames with 5 in a row. 2 hottest teams in the NHL right now.... What the hell is going on??? The Oilers stumbled around last night in a fashion very similar to their worst moments . The y won because their goalie stood on his head, and the Oilers had 3 scoring chances total and scored on all of them. They better not play like that tonight against the Rangers. Not to mention that the Leafs have played 3 less games. It's not about the standings, it's about the trajectory. Oilers finally look like a team that's poised to take the next step and have been winning games without their entire second line, including McDavid (remember him) and with their patchwork D. They have one of the best players in the game in Taylor Hall. The Leafs have...some guys? Matt Hunwick? The most exciting things about the Leafs is the possibility they'll win the lottery or sign Stamkos (it's going to be funny when he signs in Montreal instead). No buzz. Quote

Then it's interesting that the Leafs are being competitive without top players. It seems they only really lose games when Bernier plays. This is the first year of the rebuild and they appear ahead of schedule. The Oilers have to be competitive this year. Having them be basement dwellers again would be an embarrassment. Quote

The Oilers occupied a playoff spot in December for several hours! Sunny ways! I look forward to celebrating the Leafs achievement soon of 50 consecutive years without reaching a final. It is a remarkable record that will bring many Canadians together. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
