The fact is...the hospitals were not lacking beds or space...the hospitals were lacking STAFF! That's still IMO the biggest failing of Canadian HC. The provinces run it like a business. Here in Ontario, nurses work part-time to avoid paying benefits. Nurses here have to hold two or more jobs at different hospitals, in order to make a full-time wage. If the governments are going to charge us taxes for HC, perhaps they should fund HC with the money they take?
