At my old pistol club there used to what was known as "cop day". The indoor range was taken over once a month by the police from 10am to 2pm, usually on a Thursday. Us retired folks would be there to assist in range setup etc. They always appointed their own RSO. Muzzle and trigger control left a lot to be desired, somedays it was like the wild west. The safest place to be was behind the targets.2 points

The inspiration for this topic was the tremendous fuss kicked up by the media, mostly over a conservative whiner leaving the party to join the Liberals when he didn't get re-elected as deputy speaker. But we never see such frenzy when the Liberals lose members. NP View: The media's double standard on Pierre Poilievre | National Post2 points

OK, I find myself forced to type LOL... did you actually proofread that before you hit submit? That speaks volumes about the people who support the gun grab. When I talk to some of these folks I always ask them what regulation they would enact if they were King for a day. Almost invariably they are surprised to hear that it already exists and that when combined with the cross over from provincial hunting regulations is even more strict than their King for a day idea. At one week a year you'll be hard pressed to find anyone to say the words "trained military" and Civil Service Reserve Force in the same sentence. This will be a very costly social experiment. Kit issue alone is going to be fun to watch, we can't even get that right for deployed Regular Force members. Here's another fun fact, most police officers aren't the weapon handling experts you think, there are a few hobbyists/competitors who are very good and TRU team members that specialize in CQB are excellent (relatively speaking) because they drill it. Generally though, they are the exceptions and very much in the minority, for most cops carrying a duty weapon is just part of the job and it's a matter of qualifying once or twice a year... not much different than non combat arms military members. Most active IPSC competitors are hands down more proficient. I struggled to find so much as kernel of logic in your posts on this topic and unpacking the rest of it will no doubt fall on deaf ears anyway so I won't bother. If you (meaning voters) want this and you're willing to pay for it then go ahead and do it... It doesn't make sense to me but I'm rooting for you anyway.2 points

I'm surprised no one is talking about the budget....but rather deflecting on a floor crosser.....For a guy that is suppose to be a banker, investor , a financial wizard, why are other leading experts having doubts on this budget as it was presented....I mean i look at the numbers and say 78 bil that's a Poop ton of loonies, and what did or are we getting for it...not a whole lot really....and that's the first budget, can't wait to see the 3 rd or 4 th budget...And the liberals are touting this as the holy grail of budgets... I like to know what liberals are think is this get the job done or is not high enough...1 point

In reality it is an attempt to overthrow the Maduro government and STEAL Venezuelan oil. Just like in Iraq, the US government never forgets the theft of US OIL COMPANY ASSETS because the fossil fuel industry pays them to REMEMBER. Of course the government will be stuck with the costs of THEIR CLIMATE CHANGE.1 point

One of the biggest problems that we have in this country is "institutions that reflect your sub-human values", eyeball. I would never expect a pregnant 27-yr-old woman to take an experimental injection just to protect me from a viral infection that I had a 99.9% chance of surviving. Never. I'd rather fight a grizzly bear using only a twig and an inch of dental floss.1 point

But it was comprised of trained (not necessarily combat ready) personnel and it provided a means of NOT archiving their personnel records...that was the point of it, they were available and ready to go if needed assuming the member could still make the cut. Going from fully trained to combat ready isn't a big leap, it's a bunny hop. What you seem to be advocating for is an entirely different, vastly dumbed down and bloated critter who's only charm lies in the fact that its idle carcass is 88 times bigger than what you had before. As me grand-pappy would say: "bad trade." I see little sense in pursuing this further as nothing I say is going to resonate... if you and enough other voters really want to do this then go for it. Army Guy and I will drink Scotch, gobble popcorn and watch the show. Best of luck with it...1 point

Correction: Carney lies about everything because the only alternative is to admit to how badly the LPOC has at various times either failed or intentionally screwed the country up in the last 10+ years and how badly he is doing as PM. But the CBC backs all of his lies then tells Canadians that our main problem is the leader of the opposition, and the cultists have proven time and time again that they will just commit all of the CBC's drivel to memory without questioning any of it, so he has no reason to start telling the truth. Try to get ex-flyer, moonie, or eyeball to admit that Trudeau or Carney ever lied or did anything wrong and you'll hit a brick wall. To those little cultist nutjobs the jabs worked 100%, only the unvaxed died, there was no problem at all with the way Canadians were treated during covid, the SNC and WE mixups were all just misunderstandings, killing the energy sector was a boon for our economy, there are 215 kids buried in Kamloops that were slaughtered by knife-wielding nuns, hijabs are a symbol of joy and all cisgender white men in Canada are evil, etc... It has all been sunshine and roses here under our glorious leaders in the LPOC, and Poilievre is our greatest enemy. I'm not kidding when I say that I'm not "Canadian" anymore. I have nothing in common with these worthless losers that form the majority of this country.1 point

LIke I said. It's only important when it's the other team lying. Democrat (cultists) rarely, if ever call out the politicians on their side of the aisle. Lefties love calling MAGA a cult while they themselves are cultists to a ideology. Truth. I pay little mind to it all as I have been around long enough to hear all the nonsense from the likes of the Clinton's, Biden's, and Obama's, and Trump.1 point

This means there is a very high probability that the case gets dropped. If he takes it to court, he will be doing what no other prosecuter will do. When he drops it, it will prove that Biden's admin went hunting for prosecutors and only found corrupt prosecutors to run their banana republic schemes.1 point

Everyone who comes in needs a place to stay. Even if many are low-income. They crowd into whatever is cheapest, which pushes up the price of the cheapest rentals, which pushes up the prices of the next cheapest, and so on and so on. It leaves people in very expensive rentals, unable to save much for a down payment for a house. And, of course, housing prices also go up because of higher demand from those immigrants who CAN afford them, one way or another (multiple people buying one house). Even employers like Tim Hortons buying houses to then stuff a dozen low-income workers into (at high rents). I don't accept the argument that they do low-wage jobs that Canadians won't. Aside from agriculture and a few other areas like fish plants, that's simply not the case. Plus, Capitalism takes care of problems like that. If the wages are too low to attract workers, then employers have to increase the wages and/or make the job more attractive in other ways.1 point

It's the job of the PBO to examine and judge the budget. In this, they're a better opposition than the Conservatives (meaning Poilievre) who still just spouts slogans and empty rhetoric. A judgment is not fact though and no one can 100% predict the future. Also from the PBO: "That is, based on Finance Canada projections, current fiscal policy in Budget 2025 would be deemed sustainable over the long term. "1 point

I'd recommend being on the other side of a bullet proof partition I don't know much about military matters when it comes to training but i've taught dozens and dozens of people to shoot. And sure i can get them doing ok within 2 or 3 days at the range.... from a BENCH in a STATIC situation against a SET target. That isn't TOO far away. If they do their homework at home after each day. But even then there;s no way theyd be trained up to deal with a 'combat' situation reliably such as dealing with a charging bear or the like, and i guarantee if that's all they shoot if they wait a year and come back there're going to be an absolute menace yet again on their first day. Can't imagine it would be better in a combat situation which is even more confusing and scary and the "bears" shoot back.1 point

Poilievre is well aware of nuances in language which is why this answer surprised me. When asked whether all his MPs would vote against the budget, instead of a simple “yes” he replied that they all opposed the budget which is not exactly the same thing. One could oppose the budget and not turn up, for example. The chat in Ottawa seems to be that Liberal and BQ MPs are the least uneasy about another election if it comes to that.1 point

Yep and they are LYING because they have NO WAY of KNOWING that "Trump didn't receive or send any messages" other than the commonly known tendency of Trump to not use email. AKA almost ONLY tweets/"truths" "Not accused" is NOT "exoneration." Duh It is ONLY the safe way of saying "we don't KNOW of any evidence."1 point

No, nobody in the history of politics has been anything like Trump. Ever. All politicians have a set of constituents who disagree on perspective and policy. All politicians have been wrong sometimes, some frequently. Most of them have told lies occasionally, and a few frequently. But we have never had a pathological liar in office. Constantly, incessantly, as reflexively as breathing. From day one. About policy. About politics. About people. About big things. About small things. About everything. And we've never had that kind of politician before because people used to have the self respect not to trust--and certainly not to follow--a person of such low character. But whatever generational shift has happened, modern "conservatives" will stand there in the rain, and Trump will look them in the eye and tell them it's not raining, and they'll just swallow what's left of their dignity and nod along. No self respect. Apparently that's the price of "owning the libs." Well, that and American democracy. Hope it was worth it.1 point

Nuclear powered, not boomers though... and they actually are honest to goodness attack submarines Herb. Were you expecting one of those tourist sight seeing thingies? IMO the argument here isn't do we need them, if you want a credible under ice deterrent with long duration and high speed capabilities you most definitely do need them. So yes, being submerged for a long period of time really is the point here. The issue for Canada isn't a case of need, it's a question of practicality. Even manning is a problem here, a typical SSN requires (about) twice the crew size and would demand training an entirely new generation of submariners with all of the infrastructure required to support the effort. It would be years in the making unless you think 130 civil servants per sub are up to the task after a one week course.1 point

The cost of the subs is not 600 bil.... it is estimated at 100 bil for the next 30 years. if your going to lie, you should not be afraid to be fact checked...Hence why we belong to NATO and other defensive contracts and they will defend against the world. Again Canada belongs to many defensive agreements that most of the free western world agreed to come to our aid. And it is the very reason why we must be ready to defend another nation as per the pacts... Canada already has agreements as you suggest with many nations, The world is not full of unicorns and rainbows....every nation must be able to defend its sovereignty or risk losing it...end of story....that is what is going on here. and many snow flakes are afraid this is going to cut into their social programs...And yet Canadians cut our military to the bone in order to have it's current social programs....for decades...and now it is time to pay the piper, Because the world demands it....your shedding tears because the free ride is over.... yelling we don't need this or that...is what is wrong with this nation...1 point

I see that our resident commie lieberal here does not like what you have wrote above. It just proves to me that commie lieberals here like flyboy just cannot stand to hear the truth. So true indeed? There were no Indian children that died at all at the Catholic school. If so, where are the graves? This is just another big lie and total bullshit coming from the lieberals in Ottawa. It seems that lieberals are nothing more than a bunch of liars and do enjoy spreading lies and bullshit. Sadly, there are way too many brain dead people in Canada that still and will eat up propaganda and lies coming from the Lieberals in Ottawa. Canada is over. 😒1 point

When I heard about this my first thought was the gun grab. Imagine the logical gyrations a liberal voter would have to perform in order to think that proceeding with both of these things simultaneously is a jolly good idea. The thought of training civil servants to use guns whist simultaneously having the same people actively engaged in taking guns away from those who actually know how to use them is a uniquely Canadian idea. Even the Good Idea Fairy didn't think this one would pass muster. While our best Regular Force recruiting efforts are barely able to stay ahead of attrition, no one with a hand held calculator questions the logical absurdities here. Even more delicious is the fact that many of the people defending it also think getting submarines is a "silly" idea and simply shrug at the notion that we can't equip and train what we already have in a timely and efficient manner. I hope they go ahead and do it, I'm looking forward to watching it play out.1 point

Well, when just 1 Prime Minister doubles the national debt since the country's existence and brings it to the brink of bankruptcy, institutes soft on crime laws that allow pedos and criminals to roam free, hands out free drugs on streetcorners and vending machines, has the most scandals in Canadian history, botches immigration to the point it exhausts housing, jobs and the economy and gives away $11 billion borrowed dollars for gender sensitive issues in OTHER countries, and then pays the media $1.5 billion to gaslight the public into thinking it's all just imaginary.......I think that's significant. And not in any way normal.1 point

The problem with Bernstein is that his opinions are very selective and biased. He mostly writes on issues that cater to his liberal readership so he can remain somewhat relevant. If he truly cared about truth, decency, and writing about facts, then he would have been writing the same thing about Biden's 48 years of lies. His book on Hillary was a joke. He could have saved himself the hassle of writing the entire 640 pages of "blah blah blah" by just saying what everybody already knew................. that Hillary was more than happy to put up with Bill's sexual escapades so as long as she could get a run at the Senate.1 point

Loser lefty writes a bunch of lies to make himself feel better. ALMOST manages to make it a haiku Of course there's alternatives, the conservative proposed a bunch of alternatives. They didn't even ask for a balance budget and they said they were willing to accept as a compromise carney's promises from the election of about 62 billion dollar deficits. That would be extremely easy, we don't need 50 billion in infrastructure spending right now. All that does is create inflationary pressure. You could achieve as much or more economic stimulation with 25 to 30 billion dollars that was properly targeted and reduce the amount of inflation impact. That one thing alone would have gotten them tory support. And there are several other suggestions that they made The fact that you feel the need to lie about it proves that you know you're in the wrong0 points

Both the Conservatives and the Bloc are warning the government that they have certain demands for the Liberal's budget coming out in early November. If these demands are not met, there is a possibility that the budget would be defeated which means the government falls and an election must be held. This could be good news if the Conservatives win. The Conservatives may abandon the no more pipelines law, the tanker ban, and other things that are keeping Canada from building a pipeline to the BC north coast and from becoming an energy superpower. More pipelines could bring in billions of dollars to help fight the federal deficit and have more money for various government priorities. It could create thousands of jobs for Canadians. Carney is not willing to do it. Carney could save his government if he would agree to some central Conservative demands such as making Canada an energy superpower and keeping the deficit down, but I don't see any sign of it happening. Liberals 'worry' over potential election after Bloc, Conservative budget demands-1 points
