  1. You so dumb, you think the President controls state prosecutors and judges.

  2. INTENT MATTERS. Joe returned the documents that were found immediately and Trump LIED ABOUT HIS and TRIED to HIDE THEM from the SEARCH. They gave Trump many months to return the documents he stole and he REFUSED claiming "THEY'RE MINE." 🤮 You guys have a terrible habit of believing FALSE EQUIVALENCES just cause that's what they tell you on FOS LIES.

  3. Nobody gets charged for accidental mishandling, they get chastised. Intent matters. Pence did the same as Biden, and the same as many others. When they discovered the documents they immediately sent up flares to authorities and returned them immediately. Contrast that with Trump. Who lied about having them, refused to return them and actually tried to hide them. Hell, he was showing them to people and boasting about how he shouldn't even have them--on record, you can hear him do it with your own ears. He gave the government no way to retrieve the documents without raiding his resort--and then complained about them raiding his resort. That's demonstrating a very different intent. It's not accidental mishandling. It's unrepentant theft. Surely you can spot the differences, no? Absolutely nothing would have happened to Trump if he had returned the documents like every decent person.

  4. IMO, the comments here actually provide a glimpse into the difficulties of obtaining a negotiated settlement. After 34 pages, those opinions appear to be just as entrenched as they were at the start. Worthy of reflection I think. If everyone can agree that any peaceful (and lasting) resolution boils down to the willingness of belligerent parties to achieve it, then there are a few fundamental questions that should come immediately to mind. If Hamas is allowed to remain as a governing entity: - Does anyone actually believe that they will change the political objectives and stated goals that are clearly reflected in their motto? - Do you believe that Hamas will acknowledge Israels right to exist as a nation? - Do you believe that they will stop diverting foreign aid toward munitions of war? - Do you believe that they are now ready to negotiate the legitimate grievances of the Palestinian people in a constructive and peaceful manner? Personally, I'd assert that a sincere yes answer to any of the above questions is just as unlikely as achieving any sort of consensus of opinion on this thread within an imposed limitation of (say) 40 pages. When considering the establishment of any road map toward lasting peace in the area, it eventually boils down to the willingness of the partners to achieve it. So, if peaceful resolution is the objective here, Hamas sympathizers are pretty much forced to support the idea that Hamas (as a governing entity) is now willing to accept the existence of the Jewish state and that they are ready to negotiate on behalf of the Palestinian people. For the record, I don't believe that for a second. I know quite a few multi-tour veterans of various missions in the area. Some of us go back as far as UNEF II circa 1977. That certainly doesn't qualify any of us as experts in the geo political forces or cultural topography in play there... and lest there be any confusion, I'm not suggesting for a second that it does. But, BUT , I don't know a single veteran who believes that any sort of future peace deal is possible if Hamas is left as a viable entity. I would suggest that most of these folks are (and were) neutral observers, or at least they were when they arrived in theatre. Their opinions were largely forged by non partisan experience in the area, they had eyes to see and ears to hear. In fact, watching, listening and low level conflict resolution was a big part of the collective effort there. In any case, the consensus of opinion that I've observed (while clearly anecdotal) is at least worthy of passing consideration isn't it? How can so many people who initially arrived there with no dog in the fight all end up having the same opinion? And why does (non native) support for Hamas seem to be (anecdotally again) the exclusive domain of those who have never set foot in the area? Could it be that experience is an essential part of forming an opinion? For the most part though, humanitarian issues are a shared concern here and those who advocate for eliminating Hamas (and establishing an entity willing to actually negotiate) certainly aren't blind to the cost of doing it. Accusing them of warmongering is usually the beginning of the end of productive discussion and it's usually more of an argument technique than any sort of sincere belief in the accusation itself. If you can find anyone who has actually served in a TOC or CAOC position during an active conflict, they will all tell you that great efforts are taken to avoid collateral damage. They will also tell you that the term itself is more than a euphemistic reference to women and children. There is an entire section of people (24/7) that provide advice to the commander on everything from under ground infrastructure (electricity, water, sewage, fiberoptic etc) above ground infrastructure (type, use etc), and all of that is a bigger consideration than most would think. There are also lawyers present specifically to advise the commander of the rules of armed conflict as they pertain to specific engagements. In short, it isn't a blood thirsty, vengeful free for all and those who think it is would likely be surprised by the efforts undertaken to ensure that it isn't.

  5. Historically they have gotten far more sympathy, and it has always been insanely valuable. Which is inevitably why they launched this attack as well. In the past they attack Israel, Israel retaliates, hamas make sure that all of its rocket launchers and military facilities are on top of schools or hospitals or the like so there's High civilian casualties, and the world turns around and goes oh my goodness look at how terrible the people of Gaza have it. Then the UN and all of the other countries start showering Hamasand Gaza with goodies. They recognize them, they give them additional political power, there's additional funding and support, the works. And then they force Israel to leave before the job is done and Hamas gets to rebuild. I suspect they are absolutely shocked that they are not getting that kind of support this time. While there is some sympathy in the world that hasn't been even a tiny fraction of what has been the case in the past. And well two countries have recognized them, that doesn't really actually do anything for them on its own. And while Israel is getting lots of warnings, nobody is forcing it to leave. And the worldwide protests aren't doing much good either. The simple fact is they went way overboard this time and instead of just incurring the wrath of Israel, they committed an atrocity that the whole world recognizes as being grounds for Israel to wipe them out. As long as Israel Treads relatively carefully they should be allowed to finish the job.

  7. I personally do not care if you are left or right, but what is the justification for supporting a convicted felon ?? It is not about a Stormy Daniels and sex as he wants us to believe. It is about fraud, lies, manipulations, intimidation and trying to cling to power in the face of it all. Do yourselves a favor, put this buffoon in jail ASAP and elect a person with dignity and credibility. This fat piece of trash should have been dealt with the moment he claimed how he was grabbing women by the p* because when you have power you can do that.

  8. One needs to recognize that this is happening in a difficult social background. The political system is in a partisan deadlock. Both parties contributed to it, the increasing then extreme polarization leading to a system that is very much closed on itself and running for itself. Then, a part of the population, and relatively soon we will find out the measure of it, prefers to forget that a working democracy is an instrument of active and responsible citizens that needs to be checked and maintained at all times. They now want to see it as a magical want that has to satisfy all tantrums and caprices and is guaranteed to work no matter what one throws at it. This is a dangerous social and political environment. It is reminiscent of Rome's before the fall of democracy, and Germany before the fall to totalitarianism. This the political system in a partisan deadlock the path out of this conundrum is not at all clear. Still the Republicans have a choice to make here. Giving in and falling into insanity is not an obligation and not at all certainty for any individual who has the integrity, principles and can think for themselves. If you would not resist it openly, you don't have to contribute and participate in it. Participating in madness is a choice and it will have consequences. Everyone who contributed will be held to account: if not by the courts and justice, then by the history itself. Totalitarianism is already here. This is another sign of rising totalitarianism: "Attack Trump verdict or be exiled - a new test for Republicans". "Larry Hogan, a moderate Republican who is running for an open Senate seat in liberal-leaning Maryland, took to social media to urge all Americans to “respect the verdict and the legal process”. Within minutes, Chris LaCivita, a top official on Trump’s campaign, posted a crystal-clear reply to Mr Hogan: “You just ended your campaign.” The implication: if you’re not with us on this, you’re politically dead." (BBC) It is ugly. It is disgusting. It has no explanations or excuses. At first, it was about some lying buffoon. It could have ended there, in a community of thinking, active and responsible citizens of principle and integrity. Now the mob wants to take with it the party; and then, the country into its place of insanity. No: no one who can think and speak for themselves, their mind and conscience has to participate in this. History shows and tells us that very clearly. There are no explanations. There may not be path back. The future of a great democracy will be decided by thinking and responsible citizens; or by a mindless mob worshiping a lying Idol. The outcomes cannot be the same. You knew it: now find the will and courage to admit it and take it to act.

  9. Since the snowstorm the trains have not been back on the tracks for testing. These trains are designed for North American climates, but have NEVER been tested in such climates. Ottawa is spending 300 million on trains that have NO track record. One got stuck and had to be pulled back to the depot. How the hell are we to believe these trains will actually work during the cold and snow? They have only 6 weeks for all that to get sorted out. Two delays putting the launch date down the line for over a year. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/ottawa-lrt-delays-cost-25m-1.4934030 https://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/city-says-lrt-delay-will-save-nearly-1m-if-the-contract-holds-up HA well that million dollar saving has been pissed away. Chump change considering the whole project is 2.1 billion. What is really pissing me off as a driver in Ottawa is the notion from OC Transpo of 'Share the Road'. When there are many places I can no longer go because of the buses needing to use the road in stead of their dedicated routes. Can't get on the hiway going east from Lees, St. Laurent. Cannot get to Orleans coming from Montreal, that's all blocked off. The impact this bullshit has had on city traffic over the past two years has been just stupid. Combine that with construction in the downtown core, and all this is one huge cluster fudge. I expect this to be delayed AGAIN. And I expect a shit load of problems from untested trains in cold environments.

  14. Is Smith somehow an expert in falsified business records? Is he an expert on NY law prohibiting fraud to deprive someone of elected office? No, of course not. So not relevant. Smith could have testified that hush money is not an FEC violation, but Trump was not charged for paying hush money. He was charged with illegal acts undertaken to conceal the hush money. If he had just paid it legally there would have been no problem. And, as Merchan explained, the prosecution would have simply brought in their own expert and giving the jury dueling expert opinion on a non-critical question is just confusing them with a sideshow. And, again, you are patently incorrect. The defense knew every single charge before closing and had known them for over a year. There were no new charges. Just the same 34 counts we've known for over a year.

So he's trying to say that just because she's married to a judge who sometimes may hear cases that in some way affect republicans that this is the same as a judge who got elected by saying he would go after trump and his daughter who is actively fundraising based on the fact that her father is going after trump and that he will put trump in jail so please donate. It's just the usual leftist liberal lies

But Merchan properly submitted the question for ethics review and it was confirmed that the employment status of a Judge's relatives is not disqualifying. She doesn't live in his household. If that still bothers you, I'll be waiting for your diatribe about Ginni Thomas, whose very similar work brings money directly into the Thomas household while her husband has political questions before the court. 24. No, dummy. He's not "alleged" to have done them 8 years ago. The evidence established being any reasonable doubt that he did exactly what he was accused of doing. He is now convicted of those charges. You're welcome to hold an opinion that those things shouldn't be illegal, but that doesn't change the facts of the law what happened. And, again, the ex-FEC chair was "allowed" to talk. But only on matters relevant to the charges. So the defense chose not no call him. What you're doing is just unfocused mewling. And nobody has any idea what a "Soros judge" is, you included, but you'll surely keep squawking about it like a good little parrot.

  26. Biden got put in because bernie sanders was about to win the nomination and even the dems realized they couldnt' win with an actual communist running. So he was the 'compromise candidate'. Trump is getting a second go at it because a lot of republicans truly believe that the last election was stolen and this will be righting a wrong. A sentiment the current dems aren't exactly helping by trying to put their political rival in jail on nonsense charges. Frankly I don't see either of them being particularly great candidates. Their policies aside I find both of them are divisive, polarizing and dishonest. But of the two I do find the democrats to be more of a threat to democracy by an order of magnitude compared to trump. What they're doing with the courts right now, and not just in this case, is beyond 'anti democratic'.

But that doesn't mean that the riff raff on Twitter aren't debating it.

  31. You clearly aren't familiar with reporting, but that's what news outlets aim to do. They observe something in the world and then investigate it to try to discern the truth. In this case, Newsweek is reporting on a "controversy" on Twitter. They went and investigated, and presented both the controversy and their findings. You could try actually reading the article. In an email statement to Newsweek Wednesday afternoon, Eric Trump clarified his words, writing, "I cannot wait for the day we win, we will, we are right." I'm not sure Newsweek is great anymore, but in this instance you're doing exactly what you were trying to accuse Newsweek of doing. Apparently you're "trash"?

Perhaps you can tell us what the point of an organization that makes up the rules but has no ability to enforce any of them...There is certainly departments within the UN that have made a difference in the world... But most of that organization does nothing except for nations to vent to their peers, making resolutions that can not be enforced, lay sanctions that are nearly useless in deterring bad behavior. Some of these departments are run by dictators or persons with the worst human rights violations ever... How can we sit here and cheer for an organization that really does not take itself seriously...the UN does nothing to keep the peace all of it's missions have been huge failures, it does little to feed starvation in the world, it over pays it's staff, it is riddle with corruption...

Trump believes he is above the law. The judge in Florida is clearly helping him avoid any trial at all. Trump has repeatedly ripped off contractors, molested women, cheated on his wives, cheated on his taxes, and it’s finally caught up with him. He was born rich. Inherited over $400 million. He never needed to do a dishonest thing in his life. These were his choices.
