Remember, Remember, the 5th of November! Every year in England, they celebrate the failure of Guy Fawke’s attempt to overthrow the British government. Children across the nation burn effigies of Guy Fawkes. Here in the United States, we also celebrate the failure of Donald Trump’s failure to overthrow our great Constitutional Democracy! Burn an effigy of Traitor Trump Today! FAILED President! FAILED Businessman! FAILED Husband! FAILED Insurrectionist Traitor! Burn the traitor in effigy!2 points

Do Canadians even care how our country is viewed by the rest of the globe? i know it use to, we were considered polite, nice, peace keepers, warriors, we were valued for our morals and values, a nation that could be counted on.... thats not how we are viewed today, Today we are considered free loaders, we have very little to contributed to global affairs, we can't live up to our defensive contracts, the list goes on and on... We are a nation that is so divided on most topics that it is almost paralyzing to get a decision made to move forward as a nation, it is like for the last decade we have been focused on petty problems that the world has passed us by... Does this problem have anything to do with the size of our military ? our diplomatic forces ? could our inter national reputation be directly linked to what our military is capable of ? I mean no sense of having a foreign policy if we have no means to enforce it, or does it ?... What benefit does having a military that has been castrated and unable able to accomplish any of it's expected duties? Does it even matter what the globe thinks of Canada.... i say this becasue Canadians seem not to care about any topic outside of their bubble , unless it is Israel then it is game on, but lets not talk about our own country...i got a hockey game to watch, and a beer to drink... https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/michel-maisonneuve-canada-doesn-t-matter-to-the-rest-of-the-world-and-it-s-our-own-fault/ar-AA1mxXtf?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=9755dd71406c4becb0f801bf5e4336e7&ei=1011 point

I have respected the supreme court all my life, until it became right wing ugly and hateful , they are simply legislating from the bench now. I believe it has to be taken apart and repaired. Democracy will fail under a court like this, The right doesn't care because they hate our country and it's democracy. As a party they have chosen dictatorship over democracy. We are sitting on the edge of our destruction as a great nation.1 point

I"m sorry but it is the same - the gaza protesters i mentioned threatened the lives of lawmakers. MANY of the BLM and antifa protesters have uttered threats towards political leaders. Again - you claim there's a difference but there just doesn't seem to be one you can demonstrate. If PP did the same thing that Trump, and Rashida omar presley and cortez do I would call it the same thing. You seem to think there's a difference if one politician uses extreme rhetoric or if another one does. Bernie Sanders claim that republicans were trying to kill people over obamacare was specifically quoted by the shooter who shot republican house reps to death at a ball park . So he literally KILLED lawmakers and stated it was because of what bernie said - did we call it insurrection? Did we arrest bernie? you apply different standards to different people and seem to do it based on what party they belong to and that's not ok. Sorry - but was trump among the rioters and i didn't hear about it? Do you have any actual evidence of trump instructing anyone to do that? No? Amazing. Not according to them. According to them trump won. And nobody with even one single brain cell could possibly argue that anything they would have done that day could have actually overtunred the election. At BEST it was a severe protest. Sorry - you've got two very different sets of standards depending on which side you're talking about. I have one - i think they were both wrong, and i don't pretend it was any more or less aweful than it was.1 point

"Since 2016, the federal government has spent $4.7 billion on its Middle East strategy, Hussen said. " 'Deepening unemployment crisis' among Iraqi youth prompts $9.9M federal investment | CBC News That is incredible. We have a health care crisis, a housing crisis, and many other needs in Canada; yet the government saw fit to spend 4.7 billion dollars in the Middle East. They have absolutely no concept of money. That is hard-earned Canadian taxpayer's money. They spend it on other countries like water. Fix Canadian problems. This is shocking. I said in another post that Canada is a post-national state. Liberals could care less about Canadians and Canada. It is all about globalism and trying to build a name for Trudeau and liberals on the world stage. Maybe retire with a job in the U.N.1 point

It's hard to imagine PM Trudeau making it to reelection, even if the economy improves. I ask people to notice how much ADVERTISING language is used here, and to note that politics has suffered due to focus on branding and impressions. That's the framework that got Trudeau elected in the first place. I welcome the question about IDEAS in which Poilievre trounces Trudeau, perhaps because of a fact-based documentary video he has released. Regardless of what you think of the leaders, I ask you to look at presenting ideas vs persona.1 point

So let's close the loop. "The money they send to NATO directly accounts for less than 1% of overall defense spending by members of the alliance." "The North Atlantic alliance has its own military budget worth €1.29 billion ($1.4 billion), which is used to fund some operations and the NATO strategic command center, as well as training and research. But it is miniscule compared to overall spending on defense by NATO countries, which NATO estimates will total more than $921 billion in 2017. The alliance also has a civilian budget of €234.4 million ($252 million), used mainly to fund the NATO headquarters in Belgium, and its administration." https://money.cnn.com/2017/03/20/news/nato-funding-explained/index.html And that money comes from where? That's right...public tax funds. The end.1 point

You are misunderstanding the Bible completely. Those verses are referring individual charity. What comes out of your pocket and who you want to bring into your own home. But that would be dangerous today because of all the criminals. It is referring to a personal situation. A country has to be careful about letting immigrants in as too many or the wrong kind can cause major problems as we see now with the housing crisis. A nation has a perfect right to have borders and limit and control who comes in. All countries do this and always have. You can invite strangers into your home if you wish, but you cannot use other people's money to bring thousands of immigrants into the country. That is stealing other people's money. Contrary to what you said, there are many criminals in other countries that should not be allowed in. There are also extremists. There are billions of Muslims in the world and they are totally against western values and Christianity.1 point

I had a couple of friends who came here from Jamaica thinking that they'd get ahead somehow. They'd grind it out for 40+ hrs a week for a meh Canadian life, and when they went home on vacation some of their friends were making bank operating tour boats lol. Just imagine, 40 hrs a week in a mine, mill, doing construction or something like that here just to end up driving a Corolla while your friends are cruising in a boat for their day job and then driving a Mercedes 🤣. Canada's reputation vs reality is out of phase like A/C current. People move here thinking that it's still better than where they're at, but that's no longer the case. Motivated people can have a better life in their 'undeveloped countries' than they will have if they move here.1 point

I guess that'd be fine if he'd atually WORKED for those years Yeah. that's kind of how bribery works. "Why would you condemn me for accepting expensive gifts from others i do business with!?!?!??" Gee... No, the reason is they defend him because they do support him. There's no real defense of this - he just gave a speech about how tough it's going to be and how he understands how people are suffering and then uses his position to fly off for a vacation - and no, he takes FAR more vacations than ANYONE who has just worked for a comapny for 10 years. I'll remind you that 'your' side was the ones who demanded the resignation of a minister because she ordered a 14 dollar glass of orange juice while doing the country's business. Your defense of him in this case is sad, and your defense of defending him is pathetic.1 point

WCM, you are 100% correct, and I respect you for stating so. Tens of thousands of Palestinians took to the streets to celebrate the 9/11 terrorists attacks. Tens of thousands of Palestinians celebrate the October 7 massacre. Keep there savages out of Canada.1 point

It is an attack on Canadian citizens as many of the passengers held citizenship. It is a result of bringing in people who want to carry on their terrorist activities from Canada. Canada brought in an unknown number of Nazis after WW2. One of them ended up being cheered and clapped for in Parliament a few months ago. You never mentioned the 700 people associated with the terrorist organization IRGC in Iran either. Canada is a haven for these kind of people. We also have seen thousands of people demonstrating in Canada for Palestine. We don't need that.1 point

On the one hand it seems quite unstable to change presidents every 4 years, but on the other, 4 years is an extremely long time for a country to be subjected to the kind of mismanagement that Biden is guilty of. I guess the real culprit is America's inability to put forth reasonable candidates. Maybe it's just a shithole democracy lol.1 point
-
Biden gets a F- on every major job category: the border, the economy, Afghanistan withdrawal, foreign policy, military strategy, law enforcement, energy policy, oil reserves, protecting American rights & freedoms, etc., are all a solid 0/10. His aggressive NATO push is responsible for the Russia/Ukraine war and his weakness and chaos provided the flashing green light for the Hamas war. Just when we thought that the evidence of Biden's failures couldn't get any more damning, we're now learning that American/Israeli assets in the gulf are shy on protection because of yet another of Biden's terrible decisions: https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/us-to-pull-patriot-batteries-from-key-mideast-countries-report-671437 The US is moving up to eight Patriot air defense batteries from key countries in the Middle East, according to a Wall Street Journal report on Friday. Air defense batteries are key to protecting countries against Iranian missiles and other threats. Removing them and their radar have far-reaching ramifications, if the reports are accurate. Instead of just admitting to Biden's failures and moving on, leftists yappers pretend that everything is going just perfectly, and that America's main issues are global warming, covid, and prosecuting/persecuting everyone who ever doubted the integrity of the Dems & CNN. 1) The Dems clearly don't have any big-boy pants to put on, they still feel like their man-panties can carry the day 2) Their divisive anti-everything American drivel has turned into full-fledged jihadi propagandism. Their loudest members pretend not to see the hail of rockets still descending on Israel, and want Israel to just give Hamas a chance to reload and come up with their next strategy for genocide. This is not the time for more hate and divisiveness from the Dems. This isn't the time for jihadi propaganda from congress. America's biggest problem is not Donald Trump and the GOP. The Dems need to actually focus on the world, as it exists today, and move forward with a real-world plan. Their dedication to distractions from reality is biting the entire world in the ass.1 point

As I've told you now a dozen times, there are almost no "NATO" funds. The member countries spend about $3 billion collectively on NATO overhead- office facilities, staff, etc.. All the actual spending is countries spending on their own militaries. Regular old defense spending. And again, where the money "comes from" doesn't matter. Whether it originates as tax revenue or is found under a couch cushion, that has no bearing on the fact that there is no profit motive to keep NATO alive, nor is NATO a third-party positioned to profit from countries' defense spending.. There are just the member nations trying to get more security at lower costs. What you're proposing is as stupid as claiming that some mysterious "they" in a co-op apartment building is sabotaging the plumbing so that the co-op continues to be relevant, so the co-op can get some money. Well, no, that's not how any of that works. There are just shared costs, and if costs go up, it's bad for all the members. There is no party positioned to benefit from co-op expenses.1 point

Why do you think there are still Palestinian "refugee camps" after 75 years? Is it to provide food and shelter to people, or to foment hatred? Gimme a break. There were more refugees settled around the world from the brief islamic state situation in one year than the entire number of palestinian 'refugees'. If they were legit refugees then they'd have found homes decades before you were even born. FYI Palestine is a training ground for haters, violent bigots and terrorists. Why do you think NO middle eastern countries want to bring in palestinians? Why didn't they bring in Syrians or Iraqis? I don't blame those guys for not wanting to move to ME shithole countries, but as soon as they get over here they start trying to make Canada as shitty as the places they came from.1 point

A. Try to keep up with the conversation. If you disagree with OftenWrong's characterization of MAGA positions with regard to Russia and China, you can let him know. B. Russia should be--and always will be--fundamentally an enemy as long as they are autocratic, aggressive, acquisitional and generally opposed to every value of Western democracy. They should be an enemy because they actively interfere in our elections both to create chaos and division and then to get the embodiment of chaos elected. Trump may kiss Putin's ass. You may kiss Putin's ass. You may want to let him conquer any sovereign nation he fancies. But most Americans have values and self respect. C. The "R" in BRICS stands for... (drumroll) Russia. So the idea that "Biden drove Russia into the arms of China and BRICS" (into its own arms?) is goddamn ridiculous. D. As a dedicated sub, you obviously don't appreciate it when people of values stand up to a bully, as Zelensky and Biden are doing. You can roll over and present if you like, but for most Americans, no thanks.1 point

Don't you think you have that backward--like literally, objectively backward? Trump is constantly lavishing praise on Putin, Xi and other autocrats. And Trump and the MAGA crowd here are pretty clear they'd give Ukraine to Putin in a heartbeat. And both Putin and Xi would love a second Trump term. Hell, Putin, at least, will try to help Trump secure a win, as he tried in the last two election cycles. Biden, on the other hand, has been doing anything but genuflecting. Between support for Ukraine and the semiconductor restrictions (among other policies) he's causing actual problems for both, in a way that advances US interests in both short and long term. Your math doesn't math.1 point
