It’s highly arguable that the LGBTQ2S+ is a form of indoctrination that substitutes certain identity and sexuality imagery for religious symbols like the crucifix. Why should I accept it as right or proper? You might be able to get away with saying that in a Communist country or some kind of secularist dictatorship, but we are supposed to be living in a democratic country with freedom of religion, freedom speech and freedom of beliefs. Many politicians, particularly Liberals and NDP or lefties or progressives, and their followers promote ideologies that promote perversion and things that fit in with their cultural Marxist thinking and ideology. One of these ideologies which is causing major divisions in some places is the DEI ideology. Liberals /progressives hide behind this ideology and use it as a wedge issue against more traditional family-oriented voters. This DEI refers to diversity, equity, and inclusion. On the surface such words sound reasonable and fair. But the problem is the ideology becomes a kind of god and is used to reject all other beliefs including our historic Judeo-Christian civilization. This is problematic in the extreme. Children are being force fed perversion in public schools and taught that anything is "normal" because it is being inclusive, equal and diverse. That is where this becomes an ideology of extreme evil and destructive of normal society, marriage between a mother and father, and normal relationships. What “deal”? Here’s an idea: Somebody steals everything in your house, kills one of your kids in the process, and then I’ll tell you sit down and “make a peace deal.” And their position is they will keep all your stuff and move into your home, or else they’ll kill your other kids. Society is not becoming woke. If that were the case then the court would reflect Canadian values. It does not. Wokeness is not popular among Canadians. Uh, judges are considered to be the height of wisdom? Why? Do they take wisdom courses or something? Are they selected and promoted based on their IQ? In a perfect world, judges would be selected based upon the clarity and brilliant legal arguments they make on paper or in oral arguments, and moved up the ladder according to how insightful and just they were. But we are not in that world and you know it. Judges are selected according to the following criteria 1 Must be from the province in question 2 Must be bilingual 3 Must be progressive 4 Number of diversity points So we have the latest judge appointed: Michelle O'Bonsawin, as an example. Her primary qualifications are she's a francophone native. While you ought to be appointed to the supreme court after decades of demonstrated legal and judicial brilliance she had been a judge for only six years when appointed. During that time she had not exactly made a name for herself with her insightful rulings. That would require unbiased judges, which we do not have.

It was. But the judiciary has become irreparably politicized over the past couple of decades. It started in law schools, which are the wokest parts of any university you'll find, determinedly graduating legions of social justice warriors. Then came a succession of Liberal governments appointing the most leftward and progressive judges they could find. By the time Harper got into power he couldn't really find anyone conservative to put on the supreme court and was reduced to trying to appoint a semi-retired judge. The ones on the supreme court changed the law and said that was illegal so he had to appoint another liberal progressive.

Lots of people want to signal the end of an era where LGBTQ+ were persecuted, and signal that they're now welcome. You don't get to decide for us what we "need". Sometimes, in a democracy, you don't get what you want.

We have a visitor from the UK at our work this week. The guy went to the grocery store and was shocked at our food prices. He told us the price of food in Canada right now is about double that in the UK. There are massive protests in UK every day about prices for food and tuition, and for citizens rights to be paid fairly. Canadians are too complacent.

For starters you left a few words out.....Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to equal protection and equal benefit under the law without discrimination. And then there's Section 15(2) of the Charter.

The provincial governments of British Columbia and Ontario have determined that speech in the public's interests should be more protected when it comes to defamation lawsuits than speech which is not (and have put it into law). Especially the kind of lawsuits that are intended to 'suppress debate on matters of public interest'. And of course it's the courts that have to deal with these matters. So yeah, some speech is more protected than other speech. After deciding whether it's a matter of public interest, the courts then have to take into consideration whether 'protecting free debate on matters of public interest (without fear of lawsuits) outweighs harm done to the plaintiff'. Now add in constitutional concerns. You're making this into some kind of freedom of speech RIGHTS issue which it clearly is not.

FYI your own post is a snotty mischaracterization of the video. I'm not sure how you get a feeling of superiority from managing to one-down that guy. Canada has moved on from being a free country to what it has been under Trudeau. It seems free to you, because you're doing exactly what you want to do, but just like the people in Germany who felt liberated by being allowed to openly express their bigotry, you feel liberated by living in a country where the federal gov't forces people to do things that you want them to do. IE, what you're experiencing isn't "fweeeeeedom", as a young Kamala Harris would say, it's the joy of living in a place where the gov't's fascism matches your fascism.

That means a variety of things. Collecting information, preparing to take action against relatives such as getting them fired or harassing or the like which requires prep, perhaps funnelling money into his campaign so they can pressure him later, collecting "dirt" on him or his family that could be used to hurt or blackmail.
