  1. I have actually been shot at in Canada, twice both times in Regent Park in Toronto, as a teenager the first time I was buying marijuana from the gangsters on the stoop and the opposing gang showed up to do a drive by all the black kids scattered, but I just stood there gawking I saw the handgun shooting at me from the car window I could feel the pressure of the bullets going either side of me the second time I was on the streetcar on Gerrard and some guy started shooting a rifle at the streetcar from his apartment window I was listening to my Walkman in the back of the streetcar, and suddenly the windows started exploding I wasn't afraid in either case, there was no time to be afraid, I was more fascinated by the surreal nature of it

  2. Why does it matter, The Canadian public has already bought into the government's lies. I take it you live in the city, don't hunt or fish, or do any sport shooting...this ban includes kids bb/pellet guns plus paintball and airsoft guns... let's not forget replica firearms as well. This is not the US, we already have some of the most restrictive gun control measures in the western nations. these measures are not to make it harder for criminals to get guns, it's about punishing legal gun owners who abide by the law.

  3. Yep. This is exactly how it works. All government departments work about the same way. You want to contact CRA to appeal a decision - same story ; you want to appeal a speeding ticket - same story ; you want to talk to an investment agent at your bank - same story; you want to book a dental appointment or visit your family doctor (if you are lucky to have one) - same story. Wanna get a haircut? - same story - you have to wait for a few days. You go into a grocery store - you wait in line, and sometimes you have to wait in line even at the self check out. We don't matter in this country. Our time and lives are devalued to almost nothing !!

  5. I have a strong libertarian streak you are the one who thinks the solution to every problem is more government control under the idiotic assumption that more government control equals more safety you're the one who wants to control people, not me THAT'S the difference

  6. It is what you are missing, drug users don't want government-made clean drugs, why do you think they are using the drugs laced with killer ingredients It is the High they get off of them...they are looking for a better high... this coming from a documentary done in BC. Do you think for one minute that government-produced clean drugs could compete with street drug prices or availability Are they going to give it away, a social program for addicts...sounds like an open invitation to get alot more kids hooked on these drugs.. look at weed, do you think the government weed stores have stopped any illegal weed on the streets? Not really, it is not, gangs are still making money selling weed lots of money... Canada's Illegal Cannabis Market Is Still Strong but on the Decline | Article | Analytical Cannabis

  7. He has very distorted understanding U.S. History. The only real reason Britain ended the war was good old Napoleon was raising hell on the Continent. Britain could fight two wars thousand of miles apart and win both wars. The War with the U.S. more of a nuisance war than anything else. Also, when the enemy burns your capitol, you've lost the war anyway. Britain wanted to prove to the U.S. how strong their navy was by stopping U.S. Ships and taking crew members they believed were British Sailors. Basically British version of the "Press" (forced recruitment) on the high seas. Our one major victory New Orleans, was mute. Britain quit the war before the battle started and word was NOT received until after the bigot Jackson had won his hollow victory.

  8. in the event of contact I am overcome with an incandescent fury a compulsion to close with the enemy and destroy them to run to the sound of the guns, to seek resolution in battle I can't help it, I was indoctrinated by the Government of Canada to be an explosively violent mass murderer, at a very young age

  12. you're just like the conservatives who want greater controls placed on drugs that you malign a giant hypocrite empowering organized crime you have no moral high ground to preach from so do us the favor of not pretending you do Canadian gun laws are far too restrictive as it is and you want more? typical Canadian gun grabber

  13. You sooooh missing the point it's not even funny. It's not about what they are taking away now or next time. One can live with two lead balls attached to feet and mandated standing on one foot for two hours daily. It's about them being able to take away whatever they like, anything. And do we have anything to stop it?

  14. Canada cannot be considered a modern democracy: this conclusion has to be drawn based on the recent events. Political system, elections is a thin facade of an archaic entrenched system not interested in any meaningful change. Independence and impartiality of media is seriously compromised to the extent that it can no longer in confidence fulfill one if its key functions: checks on the governments. Judicial system is not interested being in real and functional check on the government. Checks do not exist in reality if they cannot be shown to execute and fulfill their function as and when necessary. This is no democracy, in the sense we understand it. Putin can have this kind of democracy too. Founding fathers of American democracy and their constituents put serious, deliberate thought into designing and implementing a functional democratic system. It has not been perfect by any notion but it held and holds so far. We have been coasting on an imitation, a thinly decorated colonial management system without any effective checks, controls and accountability. That has been our choice for decades if not centuries and we have to understand: it will not last for ever because it cannot, it has no desire, will and mechanisms to change and adapt to the needs of time and society. The reckoning will happen, sooner or later.

  16. not if they take a bigger reputational hit being caught burying it then they would if they don't bury it then they just get out in front of the story and spin it to make it seem like less of a big deal than it is being heavily biased does not necessarily mean you bury every story you don't like regardless of circumstances that is a faulty assumption

  18. I just explained why. Laws that can’t be enforced aren’t obeyed. Poor analogy. Speed limits are not an honour system, the law is actively and aggressively enforced with speed traps and radars and cameras. Even law abiding drivers are targeted by the radars to confirm their speed. Are you suggesting that gun owners and gun buyers be subjected to the same level of scrutiny? Like cops hiding behind bushes scanning every gun owners face against a database mugshots or something? You could be onto something

  19. So, the guy who froze the bank accounts of people who just donated small amounts of money to the truckers now wants the power to red flag people who are "deemed a threat"..... Not much chance for government overreach there. Here's how that's gonna go down: -cops will show up at your door and say "give up your guns, you've been deemed a threat" -you'll say "But why? I've never done anything wrong." -Cops say "Your name came up on the computer. You can fight this in court. Here's some official-looking paper." -You think about saying "...to wipe my ass with", but you bite your tongue. -You try to navigate their idiotic new website, come to a bunch of dead ends (like on the Svc Canada website), give up, try to call in, be put on hold for 2 hours, navigate some more, give up to try another day when you have time during the week, a couple weeks later -try the site again, then send in a letter. Wait 4 weeks -You finally get a letter in the mail, a login for their site, you'll pay for an application for an online hearing, but they don't have a time yet. You'll wait a few more weeks for that. -after the weeks have passed, they will ask you a bunch of personal questions and about your financial history, exactly why and where and how often you use your guns, your financial status, your family and any history of depression there, etc. -If anyone on FB ever called you a name, you might not qualify to get your guns back. If you have too many FB posts which are critical of our dear leader, you might not qualify to get your guns back. -after a few months you have a 50% chance to get your guns back, but you'll never find out why they were taken in the first place. I've been on this earth 54 years now, I know how this shithole country works.

  20. You have the police, doing checks and seizing unauthorized weapons. Also customs officers who should prevent the smuggling of weapons. If the system works, most weapons will be removed from the gangs. What do you want me to do? Buy myself a gun to protect myself and then the gun gets in the hands of thieves or one of my kids decides it is toy, or one day I go crazy (more than I am now) and go out on the street to shoot humans for fun? The less weapons you have in the hands of the public, the safer the streets will be.

  21. Sorry but the 'good guy with a gun' argument died along with the 19 children who were waiting for the armed cops outside to figure out what to do. The country with the loosest laws has the most guns and the most deaths, go figure.

  22. Nope, your stupid statement triggered me. Read the article before you make baseless comments. Being uninformed and incorrect seems to be your forte. BTW, I am far form a liberal supporter. If you hate the son, you should have been around for the fool of a father. And followed by idiot Chretien. The only liberal leader that may have been OK was Martin abut he even pissed off his own party and out he went.

  23. A handgun of any calibre isn't the optimum self-defense weapon for bears. A short shotgun/slug combination is much better . . . but moving through thick coastal vegetation with a large pack, a longer firearm is always in the way.

  24. I honestly no longer believe the spending and destruction of businesses and mental health had much to do with Covid. This was about seeing how many restrictions people could handle and government could get away with. It turns out quite a lot. People will never be the same. The pandemic was a good excuse to bring in greater controls over society, which is why the federal government refuses to remove them. They want this.

  27. 1. Kind of a false choice there. If I answer yes or no then I accept your premise that I'm trying to intellectualize myself. 2. Yes I understand it. 3. What exactly is the power grab once Covid is gone exactly ? Why did Conservative and NDP governments, Republican, Democrat, Italian, Australian, New Zealand... China, NKorea... so not the Liberals but all governments on... Earth 4. Ah yes... I see your response to me intellectualizing myself... ? Really rising to the occasion 5. Oh shut up with your drama... ? You are a teenager.. just a dumb monkey on a web board like all of us are. You think that Trudeau is Hitler and your response is to tell me to F*** myself, what a brave rebel... yawn...

  28. 1. Ad hominem... so boring... accusations of fear... yawn 2 Take a stand ? What exactly are most of them doing ? Posting nonsense on web boards seems like 3. Yes I am well aware of how percentages work. 0.1% of Canadians, just to pick a random number, sounds tiny to people who don't understand math. If that many died in a day... I guess they'd be with ok. 4. Why are you posting irrelevant information. Why don't you post the top causes of death ? 5. Liars liars everywhere... yawn... Tom Quiggin... yawn... Pat King... yawn... Tamara Lich... yawn... My advice: 1. Learn statistics 2. Learn politics 3. Leave the web board 4. Do something useful with your anger

  29. 1. Not exactly. People DID die and were dying. >40K dead so far. Making light of a threat that large basically disqualifies you from serious discussion. 2. Hmm. Some. 3. After the fact assessment that the reaction was 'over the top' is subjective but ok. Let's ask this question. IF somebody stated to you in 2019 "There is something coming that will take over 40,000 Canadian lives - should the government do something ?". Also take into account that governments were initially sow to react. After all, people didn't believe something happening in China, Italy, England... was going to come here. 4. Ah... there it is... that YouTube meme catch phrase that implies Trudeau is using this health crisis for some shadowy plot. You should probably let go of this one, as the "anti-mask" tag is a stink, through and through. As Covid fades we will collectively look at the crackpots who feared masks as people to be ignored. The next thing this crowd comes up with will then be tagged as more conspiracy paranoia. Yes, I felt bad for the convoy people and all of us who had to endure this, and am not happy with current governments but "F*** Trudeau" is just a brainless chant better suited for a sports event. Go with politics or go home, the disruption tactics are failing and annoying those of us who are serious about politics.

  30. What a ridiculous premise. The MSM investigated and reported in Trudeau. If people chose to ignore those points that's their choice. There's no announcing happening and the real sheeple are the ones who direct their energy towards aimless complaints and lost causes.

This isn’t about the people who worked there, it is about the dignity of those who died there, recognition that they actually existed. . Apparently you don’t feel they are entitled to any. Protect the churches at any cost.
