  1. Wouldn't be the first time Trudeau tried to interfere in the legal system. His Attorney General resigned over his behavior.

  2. I’m a gun owner in about as conservative a town as you’ll find. I’m conservative and proud of it but the Republicans are mad down there when it comes to guns. Any country that accepts dead children over and over as a “price to pay” for their “freedom” is a country that is out of control.

  3. There were far fewer mass shootings when Assault weapons were banned than there are now. This punk was able to buy two of these guns and 400 rounds of ammo within two days of his 18th birthday. He couldn't even buy a case of beer. American priorities are whack.

I don't do hypocrisy well...But I knew and have always known "Gawd". I am not sure exactly what it is, or if it even has a gender. But I know its there because I feel it. And NOTHING any half-backed LeVey-type or any moron Satanist does...can change the cycle of both physical and metaphysical creation. It is...because it is. 3. You're quite welcome. 5. Nah. If you did you would see the Lich case is all political. Charged for saying "hold the line" and attempts to have her bail revoked over accepting an award. The judge in the bail hearing was thoroughly disgusted with the prosecutor for bringing that filth to his court room.

  6. I used to be big on multilateralism and global treaties and fora. I now see that too many extremely rich elites and sketchy governments run these shows which are totally unaccountable to citizens. No unelected foreign powers should dictate our policies. MLAs must never be beholden to them. I also think our rights need to be supplemented and much better protected. The policies to fight Covid have probably done more damage than Covid itself, especially after vaccines became widely available yet restrictions continued and vax mandates were implemented. Kids are damaged. Non-Covid deaths climbed significantly due substance abuse, suicide, and other causes, according to the insurance industry. Stripping away freedoms kills in body and spirit. Add the confusion of woke race-based inquisitions and gender experimentation to amp up the total collapse of social stability. Government overreach and left-wing radicalism has reaped havoc at a time we needed solidity. Families and traditions torn apart by public health policy and attacks on “colonial” and “patriarchal” Canada. Exaggerated claims of historic oppression taken out of historic context. I’m not sure if we can fully rebuild, and powerful people are quite happy to see the freedom and living standards of the billions of humans reduced to build their environmentally pure world. We’ve seen what the goal of health purity and zero Covid does to societies. We’re watching the impacts of draconian climate policies like carbon taxes and pipeline cancellations destroy our energy supply and raise our cost of living as foreign dictators add to their energy wealth. I’m not sure most Canadians can see past the government, international, and state funded media narratives to see what’s really going on. Ukraine too is a one-sided story and distraction for most Canadians.

  7. Well I think there's many variables to that including a likelihood that alot of people already had covid and probably had some natural immunity regardless of the vaccine. I'm not a Covid denier. As I said I know three whove died from it. My father nearly died from it. The vast majority of people including myself have gotten over it fairly quickly. I think much of the response has been overkill and we are seeing the result of it with mass inflation, deep rooted hatred toward people etc. History shows that never ends well.

  8. The Rifle(s) purchased were an AR-15. an Amalite Rifle model 15. A semi-automatic weapon, the weapon would continue to fire until the magazine was emptied. The AR-15 is a Military Grade Assault Weapon. Purchased by the shooter with no questions asked on his 18th. Birthday. A Universal Background, which takes several days, would have prevented the shooter from obtainibg those weapons on the same day . Which would saved the lives 19-Children an 2-Adults. No needs to own such weapon, they are match rifles and they sure as hell ain't a hunting rifle. Mass Shootings are a uniquely American Event. I do not for one second the mental illness crap. The Orange Faced 5-Deferment Draft Dodging Coward Trump signed legislation giving access to firearms individual a history mental illness and individuals with a history of spousal abuse. This tragedy could have been easily avoided, except the ReThugs and love anything related to firearms. Giving access to firearms to people mental illness was allowed the Traitor and his ReThug Cabal. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/president-trump-made-it-easier-mentally-ill-get-guns-when-n1039301 Giving access assault weapons to with mental illness was done by ReThugs ;the Traitor. 12. Why Uvalde Cops Were Too Cowardly to Charge a Mass Shooter American police are taught first and foremost to fear for their own lives. Angeli Rose Gomez told The Wall Street Journal that she drove 40 miles to the school, which her two children attended, and begged police on the scene to intervene. Instead, federal marshals arrested her for “intervening in an active investigation.” After talking some local cops into letting her out of the cuffs, watching a second parent get tackled by police, and a third get pepper-sprayed, she snuck around the crowd, sprinted into the school, and brought out her kids. … By and large, cops are taught to be in quaking terror at all times, to view the local citizenry as infested with violent criminals, and to prioritize their own safety above all else. The overwhelming focus is on threats to the police themselves, not the public. There is virtually no time spent on diplomacy, de-escalation, or remaining calm under fire. (Living in constant self-imposed fear is a big reason why police have killed 406 people so far this year, which is in line with the trend from previous years.) This message is powerfully reinforced by Supreme Court precedent. As Ramenda Cyrus recently wrote for the Prospect, in the 2005 case Town of Castle Rock v. Gonzales, a woman sued the local police department for “failing to arrest her husband, who had violated a protective order, resulting in the murder of her three children.” In an opinion written by Antonin Scalia, the Court ruled against her, holding that police have no duty to protect the public unless they have specifically promised to in writing. That impossible standard is why a New York City man lost a lawsuit against the NYPD when an officer failed to help him while he grappled with a knife-wielding assailant. As Cyrus writes, “the police do not have to act if someone is actively being harmed, they do not have to arrest someone who has violated orders, and they do not have any obligation to protect you from others.” There’s a word for someone who walks around terrified of dangers that are almost entirely imaginary, obsessively fixated on being ready to kill people who appear threatening—but only to reduce the risk to himself. The word is coward… https://prospect.org/justice/why-uvalde-cops-were-too-cowardly-to-charge-a-mass-shooter/ A really interesting read at how policing in the USA has gone sideways in recent decades. As for the top policing trainer who promises cops across the country that “you will have the best sex you’ve ever had” after you kill another human being….that dude needs to go. But unfortunately in ‘Merka sociopaths like that are admired by a large chunk of the population

  13. Bankrupt because of massive and pervasive fraud and mismanagement amd financial scandal. For a couple of decades now the organization has been treated as nothing more than slush fund for its top leaders who live lavishly at the expense of their simple and gullible members and donors who open their wallets without question any time a leader comes to town gives the old canned “cold dead hands” speech. Or whenever a Republican lawmaker screams alarmingly that a Jewish horde of Muslim Atheist transexuals is coming to take their guns and forcibly administer mandatory free prostate exams without lube and anyone under age 20 will be exterminated via mandatory 80th Trimester abortions for as required by Obamacare Being offered a seat on the NRA board to gorge at the trough was simply a reward offered to gun executves and Republican politicians and lobbyists with the right connections and they ran it into the ground with their greed

  14. I wouldn't. How can you have confidence in a system that avoids being audited, validated and verified for veracity? Faith? We've tried that and it doesn't cut it. I say we try making a few changes to the Lobbying Act and apply a little science and technology instead. We get the government we deserve which is as it should be in a democracy.

  15. 1. Not as I'm aware. Why would they care? They're just a rubber stamp anyways. The GG just signs off on whatever laws Parliament decides. If some unelected monarch started deciding laws again Canadians would lose their sh!t. The only time Buckingham might care is during a crisis where the PM goes bonkers and wants to implement some really crazy laws like Hitler or something. So the GG/ Crown acts as a check on the power of the legislature, which is a good thing. But this hasn't really happened and would cause a constitutional crisis. By convention the Crown/gg defers to the will of Parliament because it's democratic. 2. But you need to remember that the Queen, who represents the Crown, is the physical embodiment of the country. This is symbolic. So when you swear allegiance to the Queen, you're really swearing allegiance to the country itself. The Queen is the head of state. It's like when Americans pledge allegiance to the flag. It's just a flag, a piece of cloth, but it is symbolic of the country. Also remember that her title is Queen of Canada. Queen of England is an entirely separate legal title. Don't believe the British loyalists on this forum who spread misinformation. She is our Queen. The UK has absolutely no legal authority over Canada. 3. Well, the Queen can only declare war on the advice of Parliament. She's the commander in chief i believe but has no actual authority to make any policy/war decisions. Again, at this point her role is symbolic. Because she isn't democratically elected the monarchy no longer has any legitimacy to make decisions/ policy/laws in a democracy. If you're fighting to the death for her it really just means you're fighting to the death for the country, "the Queen's realm", which again is just a symbolic notion. Ie: Crown corporations aren't really hers, they're ours. The Queen is no longer our master. If migrants don't want to partake in the traditional Canadian heritage they don't have to come to Canada or take the oath and all the rights and privileges that being Canadian entails them. The choice to move here or not is theirs, and they are welcome to come & join our family if they follow the rules, pledge loyalty, and positively contribute to our nation. I certainly would never have the nerve to move to whichever country you're from and start telling the locals to change their traditions and rules for me. My relatives risked their lives and bore horrific costs and suffering (which I will not get into, but they last until this day, through every generation and member of my family) by defending this country from fascists & other enemies so that you and I can enjoy the freedom and prosperity in Canada that we do today. I honour their sacrifices by continuing to defend this country from those who mean it harm in whatever way I can. So when someone like yourself says that they wish to take advantage of all the privileges Canada provides them but the moment they would be asked to defend this country from threats they would simply flee, it tells me you're just a Canadian of convenience and you're literally mooching off of the terrible costs my family has had to bear for your freedom. To say I find this offensive would be an understatement. My hope is I've been able to convince you to honour your oath and join our family as a proud and loyal member that will help build and defend this great nation. And I agree with you about our politicians. They are self-serving traitors with no honour.

  23. Trump proposed raising age limits for gun buys after Parkland In February 2018, days after 17 people were killed by a mass shooter in Parkland, Florida, then-President Donald Trump shared a rare moment of agreement with liberal lawmakers around a single, specific policy proposal: raising the national minimum age to purchase rifles from 18 to 21. “You have a case right now where somebody can buy a handgun at 21,” Trump said in a February 2018 televised meeting with lawmakers. “But you can buy the kind of weapon used in the school shooting at 18.” https://www.grid.news/story/politics/2022/05/27/trump-proposed-raising-age-limits-for-gun-buys-after-parkland/ But he then flip-flopped and refused to acknowledge what he previously said. Just like he did when he proposed banning bump-stocks after the Las Vegas massacre. Or releasing his tax returns for that matter.

I want to hear new ways to address: -National and regional unity - strengthening confederation -Economic issues - modernizing our private and public economies and ensuring widespread prosperity -Real climate action that doesn't punish individual citizens The three main parties are FAR FAR closer on policy than is admitted on here. Any one of them could produce a leader with ideas for this, but I am not really hearing that today

  28. The Queen does not adjudicate the law the final arbiter of the law is the Supreme Court the role of the Queen is to solve constitutional crises if it is not clear by the election who has Parliamentary Supremacy to form the government then the Queen decides the Governor General is the stand in for the Queen first you go to the Governor General if that does not resolve the dispute, then you can go to Buckingham Palace for a final decision it will be a binary choice, two parties claiming to have Parliamentary Supremacy so either the Queen will let the GG's decision stand, or the Queen could choose to overrule the GG

  29. Dave Reuben discovered some interesting facts from Pew research: * "In 2020 54% of all gun related deaths were Suicides. 43% were murders." That one originated from the CDC. * The Gun Violence Archive definition for mass shootings says they involve shootings of 4 or more people regardless of whether any of them died. Those who did die from such incidents only numbered 513 in 2020. * "Regardless of the definition being used mass shooting incidents in the U.S. only account for a small fraction of all gun murders that occur nationwide each year." * "In 2020 handguns were involved in 59% of U.S. gun murders. Rifles (and that would include what gun grabbers want to call assault weapons) were only involved in 3% of firearms murders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnBcabfxzRU

  30. Trudeau is the veritable emperor’s son, having lived too pampered a life to care or understand what it means to be Canadian. That is why he has no problem annihilating our legacy. He however was democratically elected by the masses, for the masses. We own the choices we make.

The big glaring difference of course is just how many right wing Americans seem to believe their gun rights exist so they will be able to protect themselves from a government gone bad. I mean, exactly what are these Americans who spend 7 days a week and twice on Sunday screaming that the commies have taken over the White House waiting for exactly?

  37. Canada is not an absolute monarchy. It is a constitutional monarchy. The Queen of Canada can't, on her own accord, tell you or anyone else to do anything. She can't make any laws on her own accord. That was the case 1000 years ago in Britain, but no longer. Technically the monarch still signs off on all laws (or rather, her representive the GG), but by convention, and through precedents like the Magna Carta and the Glorious Revolution etc, the monarch no longer decides laws, foreign policy, or has any real power. The Queen is a rubber stamp and the laws are decided by Parliament who represent the people, then given to her (well, the GG) to give her royal assent. All laws go through her, on advice of Parliament. She is the head of state. No actual governing power except in emergency reserve power where Parliament may turn into tyrants and she can refuse to sign off on their laws. But this has rarely if ever happened and would cause a constitutional crisis. The Queen is the physical embodiment of The Crown and the country. She is a physical symbol of the state. The sovereign. So when you swear an oath of allegiance to the Queen, you're swearing an oath to her realm (Canada) and her laws and institutions. It's a weird concept, but it is what it is. It's like swearing allegiance to a flag: it's just a symbol representing the country. The people who think such an oath of allegiance means she can boss them around is ridiculous since this is no longer the case since her powers are limited by the constitution. Through millenia of civil war in Britain, when it was still an absolute monarchy and the monarch behaved like a tyrant and the people rebelled, the monarch now does what the people say, not the other way around. They are technically the Queen's laws, but really they are ours and she rubber stamps her assent based on the will of Parliament. The people who still don't agree don't have to take the oath. https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/services/crown-canada/monarch.html https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/services/crown-canada/about.html

The UK's last mass school shooting was Dunblane in 1996 after which major changes were made to firearms regulations. The last Australian mass shooting was Port Arthur in 1996 after which major changes were made to firearms regulations. The Christchurch mosque shooting was committed by an Australian because he couldn't obtain those weapons in Australia. After which New Zealand made major changes to their firearms regulations. How many mass school shootings have there been in the US since 1996?

  40. How would you define an "Assault style rifle" There's little reason for a private citizen to own a semi-automatic rifle like that. But that's my personal opinion. I come from the Canadian school of thought on this, that one should justify the needs for a weapon like this. It's laughable that it should be for hunting. The problem with weapons like this. Even if you want to have armed people everywhere with glocks, rugers etc, on person for protection. Someone rolls up with a weapon like this, they're immediately outgunned. Which is why no one stopped Mr. Ramos from slaughtering children until it was too late.
