This talk of centrists and moderates is bullshit. We've allowed the Overton window to swing too far to the left in Canada so that we fall into line believing what used to be moderate and center is now what used to be hard left. That's just the media talking though. The talk we hear on the street is nothing like that. The current Canadian political reality is there is a streak running through the centre of Ontario into Quebec. It's bought into the progressive agenda and believes they are the norm. They aren't. They're really interested in convincing the rest of us they are though. They're what keeps giving us Trudeau. They could only manage a minority last time. Can a mild populist swing enough of us who would like a 'true north, strong and free' back to get a majoriity next time? Pierre is no Trump, but yeah, I think so. The hard left that want us to believe they're moderates don't. They tell us Pierre has no chance. Too far right they say. "Right" means radical they insinuate. 'Conservative' is a dirty word is what they'd like to shriek and what you hear under their breath. Pierre is what they fear. Scew em' is what I say.4 points

inflation is burning out of control, money printing running amok the government has now brought the banking system itself into disrepute small business has been decimated, when it is the main employer interest rates will be driven up, when 33% of Canadians are already on the verge of bankruptcy at net negative rates the shit is hitting the fan the masses will be radicalized by sheer desperation patience3 points

Yep. Canadians have had enough virtue signalling now to last a lifetime. It's time for a serious politician who will address the country's actual needs instead of tilting at windmills. Gay marriage has been legal here for almost 20 years now, and despite all the hooplah, I don't think that the current Liberal gov't has achieved much for leftist activists aside from lowering the age for sodomy.2 points

I literally couldn't care less what you think I sound like. If Pierre Poilievre wins the Conservative Party Leadership, the Conservative Party is dead. What YOU have decided is a "conservative" is what the overwhelming majority of Canadians consider toxic Trumpism, and it will faceplant in an election. Like I said, don't take my word for it. As far as whether I'm a Liberal, I'd have said no for pretty much my entire life. I've literally never voted anything but Conservative in Ontario elections and only voted Liberal twice Federally (once for Paul Martin). I was a huge Harper supporter up until near the end and I can't stand Trudeau and think he's probably the worst Prime Minister of my life time. If support for Pierre Poil and the freeeedom convoy is the pre-requisite for being a "Conservative" now, then I guess I'm not. Good luck with that in an election as demographics continue to ship away from Bible-thumping and social conservatism. Tell us more about how you feel and what you imagine about other posters.2 points

Please tell me you're joking with this comment. You're at a point where your theatrical comments make you look absurd. No. Trudeau is not Hitler, he sounded like Hitler when he made is comments. Again, an English lesson on comparisons using like or as might help. By citing data from experts? That doesn't make me incredible, rather it should be seen as normal. Already here. Its called Omicron. Hence the lifting of mandates while Omircon is in mid stroke. Well...this was my first post on Repolitics in almost two years and it came back in August before Delta even hit us. So yes...I did know how this was going down. The CDC had posted back in September of 2020 that 94% of deaths involved those with comorbidities. The UK already had plenty of data streaming out of their Delta wave in the summer of 2021. I didn't invent these ideas, I just listened to people other than the CBC and the Canadian government. Perhaps you might try looking beyond your myopic point of view and expand your view to things outside your tiny realm to see these answers. It was stated a long while back that 1) the virus can spread among the vaccinated and 2) the vast majority of deaths were among those with co-morbidities. The fact that you chose NOT to listen to these FACTS is completely on you so stop your whining. My only fear is letting this country be overtaken by people like you who have no clue what facts are and proceed on making decisions on feelings.2 points

You don’t even know what far right is when you try to call Polievre far right. He’s advocating for sensible policy. Throwing words around like Trumpism doesn’t mean anything. What in particular about Trump’s approach and/or policies are you worried that Polievre will do? Squeamish fearful reactions to nothing illustrate how many Canadians have become detached from reality. Brown like Ford and Charest won’t change anything because they’re scared of the woke inquisition, which is a real force against freedom of thought and speech. Mere accusations of MeToo impropriety almost destroyed Brown’s political career. I don’t think that the kind of politician who could actually make essential changes for the better can get elected in Canada. Only left wing dictators and their fearful equivocating toadies will get elected. Your take on Polievre illustrates why Canadian democracy is in trouble. There’s no “acceptable” opposition to the Trudeau Liberals. They own truth and everyone else is racist-fringe-Nazi.2 points

true conservatives support everyone's right to free speech not just people and groups that they like and agree with the latter is the left2 points

Canadians are too lost and groomed on far left narratives to elect a sensible government, I fear. There’s nothing radical about Polievre. He’s a centrist who wants accountable government, respect for our constitutional rights, and the removal of crippling carbon taxes in a context of hyperinflation. Somehow that makes him right wing and scary? I want to have faith in ordinary Canadians to see what a mess our government has made, but I think we may be stuck with left wing dictatorship. The populous is deluded. It reminds me of 1930’s Germany.2 points

Almost the whole world signed that so I guess if you figure that was all the WEF's doing, and that Klaus Schwab controls the world, this doesn't really mean much. NEFARIOUS Klaus Schwab...yup. All him. If you say so, whatever that means to you. Oh gosh! No those! Sounds evil to me. YIKES!1 point

Pierre isn't perfect but I think he'll beat Trudeau if he gets the leadership. At least he seems straightforward on issues. Trudeau can't answer a basic question directly.1 point

The Pfizer documents are really depressing. So many of the AE's are progressive, degenerative disorders. The liver, the kidneys, the heart, the brain, the nervous system - all attacked. A lot of AE's involve the myelin - the coating around nerve fibers, like the rubber coating that protects electrical wires. A year or 2 from now, I wonder how many people will connect the vaccine with a diagnosis of MS or autoimmune disorder or degenerative brain disorder? Sad, because they could have created a normal vaccine using attenuated virus, but chose to go the experimental route. Then added insult to injury by making it mandatory by forcing people to choose between their jobs and social systems, when the majority of people faced very little risk - it's criminal, IMO.1 point

Chong is who I want also he's the only one that would 100% make me vote conservative for the first time in my life if he was the leader. couple other's I would consider it like Brown or charest but not certain like chong. Pierre or the lady lewis are no go's for me.. would never get my support with what they stand for and would 100% vote liberal just to keep them out in a general election even though trudeau hasn't been great.1 point

Difficult but not impossible. I could see the Bloc forming a coalition with the CPC in a minority situation. Quebec has come back more to the center under CAQ. The Bloc also voted down the Emergency Act.1 point

That you don't see the glaring hypocrisy and the total lack of perspective in your comments is worrying to me.1 point

It's the CPC's election to lose. Even without a leader they have held even or ahead of the Liberals in the polls. As long as they get a leader that can be clear where they stand on social issues (like Harper) they will win. If they don't, they'll lose yet again. That's really what it comes down to. Scheer and O'Toole were weak. Economic issues might take the forefront by the time the election comes around though. Which would probably benefit the right. They have the narrative advantage here.1 point

It's medical fact. Elderly and very unhealthy people do not do well when they contract another disease or illness. Bankrupting businesses/families and making children and teens give up their social lives for 2 years, will not help them.1 point

No, Rumple is an apologist for the WEF. She’s a member who loves the parties and accolades. Trudeau wants Great Reset which is why he’s hanging onto vaccine passports and won’t even discuss their removal. He has fully embraced the WEF agenda and is Schwab’s favourite “Young Global Leader”. Only a complete fool would ignore Schwab’s recent bragging about “penetrating” more than half of the Canadian Cabinet. Writing off this serious damage to a sovereign democracy as a loony conspiracy theory is reckless. Prove me wrong. I bet you can’t, so stop saying that something has been debunked that hasn’t even been discussed in Parliament or mainstream media with any attention to detail. Writing off any questioning of the government narrative as racist-fringe-Nazi is always the tactic now.1 point

Sorry - I think the World Economic Forum conspiracy theory was already debunked by a Conservative MP... move on.1 point

Pierre Poilievre is a performance artist telling the angry conservative base exactly what they want to hear. His flip-flops on social issues are legendary and his principles are only as strong as he thinks they're popular. Whatever intelligent policy ideas he might have is drowned out in mountains of silly hyperbole like you just posted here. He's hitched his wagon to that sort of nonsense and to the Freedom Convoy and their bullshit, and the rest of Canada is watching in distaste whilst getting vibes of Trumpism. We're probably looking at one of the worst prime ministers in Canadian history and you could put someone as boring as Patrick Brown up there and probably beat him. Poilievre, however, would lose. I hope that this is obvious to the more reasonable among CPC members and they can see he's the path to another Liberal government. Don't take my word for it though. Watch it happen and remember this conversation.1 point

Canada is living under a left wing dictatorship in the midst of a Mao-style cultural revolution. Asking for a basic human right like free speech is too much to bear for the revolutionaries who won’t accept constitutional rights for people with different points of view.1 point
-
Canadians are so scared of freedom now that they don’t believe in free speech. We have a very weak civil liberties lobby in Canada. It basically means that a category of speech has been created in Canada for “unacceptable views” that can then be defined by whoever is in charge. That’s what Bill C-11 can do. Of course Nazism equals bad. The sky is blue. Somehow some people feel a need to find Nazism in anyone who disagrees with them. Well guess what? Only Nazis are Nazis. What’s more, terrible as they may be, if they aren’t committing crimes but choose to prance around in Hitler get-ups and spew anti-Semitism, we’re free to ridicule them. That’s what’s a society with free speech does. Targeting people and insulting them is harassment and there are ways to prevent people from being abused by applying laws that don’t make reference to “hate speech.” People who spew such hateful garbage are incredibly self destructive and society will rightfully shun them.1 point

Pierre is unelectable. He's a populist ass-licker and will have absolutely no appeal outside of the conservative base. If folks want Trudeau in for another term, he's the path for that. He'd perform no better than the Reform Party and would get no support outside of the West and more isolated/rural parts of the country. I would vote for a guy like Chong in a second. He's always been level-headed and principled (lost a cabinet position for not towing the party line under Harper) and can appeal to the middle ground in a way that someone like Pierre the dweeb can't. Charest I think can win an election and can appeal to the middle-right as well, but I'm not sure he can win a leadership campaign as a former Quebec Liberal where too much of the Leadership contest depends on the West. If we want to actually get rid of Trudeau, we need pragmatism instead of dogmatism. Pierre will be a non-starter for huge swathes of the country.1 point

Well when so many facts are dangerous in and of themselves I'm not surprised people don't trust fact checkers. That said, I think if you're willing to use them you should be just as subject to them. OTOH refusing to use them doesn't mean they still can't or won't be used against you. Suck it up and deal with it.1 point

Your failure to understand something doesn't make anything about it outrageous. It's a fact that Trump took the correct action, and that's what counts. The fact that it was too late is the fault of China and the WHO. Just remember that they were slow to alert the world and then the WHO ridiculously blurted out "There is no H2H transmission happening". Outrageous is the fact that Trudeau let people fly here from ground zero of a pandemic, and those people had full rights and freedoms to walk around this country, while Canadians have had their rights curtailed for 2 years now. Just pray to god that there's not a serious ebola outbreak while the village idiot is still our PM. Patients from the hospitals there will be allowed to fly here, sit in crowded arenas until Canadians start bleeding from the eyes, and then we'll all be locked down for a few years.1 point

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htm I think that when I originally cited this here, I used the info from a fact checking site that was referencing this page. It's worth noting that in some cases covid caused one or more of the co-morbidities, but that doesn't mean that a different cause, like diabetes, cancer, ischemic heart disease, etc, wasn't present when the patient first got covid.1 point

Ya gits wut ya pays fer. In the meantime, I happen to love Canada for what it is promised to be. What our forefathers made it. "Our homeland strong and free." Not 'Our homeland till we disagree.' The Canadian media is, by and large, full of shit.! We are paying these assholes to lie, make sick accusations about many of our people, and cheer on Pixie-Dust while he hides at his Mommy's place, tries to grant himself absolute control, and destroys the lives of countless good Canadians in the process. THAT'S our media and as far as I'm concerned, they need their public funding revoked completely until they begin reporting ALL the news, as it is. If they wanna offer an opinion, do it. But make clear it is an OPINION and stop presenting said opinions as facts. They are NOT.1 point

People...even you Tweenkies among us...need to pay attention to what's happening, instead of bickering about nonsense. The Russian president seems to be bent on changing the Ukrainian president and NATO is lead by a group of weak fools. Facts is facts. Biden is an addled old fool and Putin has him by Hunter's short and curlies. It would be hilarious if it weren't so destructive. The rest of NATO is...well...unarmed. Now...putting aside the great Orangemanbad horse kaka...I have a reasonable request of Americans. @Americans - Would you please stop trying to punish the world for Trump or colonialism or slavery or any of the other crap you've blessed us all with? This is serious now. Your southern border is wide open, you've managed to marginalize the police, and elected a fucking idiot! Get over yourselves and this insanity! Leftists celebrated every decision that gave Russia more power over Europe and America: -cutting off fracking -cutting off keystone -ending Trump's blockade of the Nordtream2 pipeline Now America is buying hundreds of millions of barrels of oil from Russia. America isn't even sanctioning Russian oil because they can't afford to. America is begging OPEC for more oil and OPEC is telling them to F off. Still, leftists are clinging to their energy stupidity, just like they clung to defund police until they finally realized that the polls were never going to swing in their favour. What's going to happen if Iran or anyone else in OPEC decides to cut production just to drive the price of oil up, to screw the US? When I said on this forum that Canadian oil was an important military resource, I never would have guessed how quickly that would become a huge issue. America was exporting oil back then, now they are literally over a barrel because of Dem/Lib stupidity.1 point
