  4. I have to wear a mask and can't go to nightspots. Living in a democracy gives people rights and responsibilities. Responsibilities sometimes includes experiencing discomfort and inconvenience so that others can be safer. Labelling these temporary inconveniences as "losing rights" and imagining some dire future of totalitarianism is ridiculous in the extreme. Especially when you remember that countries and regions around the world have been removing restrictions whenever possible, only tightening them again when hospitalizations go up. I hope you feel stupid as f@ck in the near future when all these "horrendous" restrictions are gone and you realize just how hysterical you are.

  5. One of the aspects of the situation is the statement of one of the protesters in southern Alberta. Words to the effect that," we arrived here peacefully and we will leave peacefully." The Ottawa protest has been mostly non-violent and the police have been restrained. We did not have the violence Washington suffered from the protest, and we did not (so far) see the police violence we saw in Paris. The attempted overthrow of the government was a respectful letter to the Governor General rather than a gallows set up to lynch the Vice President. Only in Canada, eh? Inspite of my bewilderment regarding the aims of the protesters, I take a bit of pride that we do these things differently than other countries. We invoke an Emergency Measures Act that does not bring in troops, and, by definition, does not interfer with peoples Charter rights. Breaking the law is not a charter right.

  6. When someone says the masses are lazy and stupid, I get the feeling the speaker is exempting themselves from that. They are telling us they are smarter than average. That is usually the first clue that they are not. Arrogance? I am the first to disclaim that I know you don't mean it, but that could almost be taken as a paraphrase of Mein Kampf. -Why remove a teacher's freedom of association? Because it sets a precedent to take away freedom of association from others, such as political opponents. -Who defines competence? Perhaps the school janitor who is also the school Political Officer. -Who designs the curriculum? That would be the Party Office of Propoganda and Public Security. -Who would seek out all crimminal elements? That would be the Student Cadre of the Red Guards. Instruct equality .... Sure, who cares whether they take physics, Math Geography and Chemistry, as long as they toe the Party Line. Everyone is equal, but Party Members are more equal than the "sheeple." Ahhh, your pledge of allegiance. Long Live President Xi, Great Leader, Great Helmsman, Great Commander in Chief, and his close comrade in arms, Wang Qishan. If Mad Max ever became Prime Minister, I can see him packing the cabinet with all his girlfriend's Hells Angles buddies. Rob Ford, at his most tragic period in life, kept better company.

Basically a Wexit person or White Race theorist who drives from the prairies, on American money, to annoy people who live in Ottawa because they are annoyed by wearing a mask. 8. I would like MP Singh to answer the following. I hope, on behalf of our Charter rights to freedom of thought and other rights, and Canadian values, that he answers and that someone asks him these questions. Questions. You proposed a successful motion to have the Proud Boys labelled a domestic terrorist organization. What specific elements of their organization, Charter, mandate, philosophy, ideology promotes terror? Fact Check: None. https://www.nationalobserver.com/2021/02/01/opinion/ndp-campaign-ban-proud-boys-young-voters How many members of the Proud Boys have been convicted of domestic terror charges or criminal violence for actions related to their membership in the Proud Boys organization in Canada? Fact Check: None. You claim that white nationalists killed people on the January 6th trespassing incident in a foreign country. Name the people convicted of murder. At 4:50: Fact Check: No one has been charged with murder from the trespassing incident on January 6th in Washington. Oath Keepers, not Proud Boys, have been charged, but not convicted, of sedition. No murder charges for anyone. https://www.businessinsider.com/doj-uphill-battle-prove-sedition-charges-capitol-riot-probe-2022-1 The most serious charges facing Proud Boys members is obstruction ". This does not seem in proportion to a domestic terrorist group. Also, these 4 were acting as individuals, not on an organization wide direction. The group is not responsible for individual behavior. Compare these charges to Singh's claims. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/12/28/proud-boys-members-must-face-january-6-charges-us-judge-rules Singh claims: "Given their involvement in the violence, in the undermining of democracy and the incitement of those horrible images that we saw out of Washington, D.C., I think it is very clear this is a group that should not be able to operate in Canada," said Singh. https://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/as-it-happens-the-monday-edition-1.5868846/ndp-leader-calls-for-proud-boys-to-be-designated-a-terrorist-group-1.5870383 Why do you allow events in foreign countries to influence Canadian laws? Do you believe there is a problem in the white community in Canada with racism and hatred? Fact Check: MP Singh routinely makes this claim. Do you believe any other community or just the white community has a problem with racism and hate? Fact Check: MP Singh is silent on crimes of hate involving other communities. You claim that Canada has a serious problem with white racists who are a threat to the safety of non whites, name the two most dangerous white supremacist organizations in Canada. Fact Check: Canada does not have a white nationalists problem. There are no organized movements of hate involving white supremacists in Canada. How many members are in these dangerous white supremacist organizations? Fact Check: Any such organization would have membership in the dozens , not thousands, and many members would be feds and antifa. You support Bill C 229 to have kkk symbols banned in Canada. Do you believe the kkk is a serious threat to the safety of Canadians in 2022? What is your evidence? When was the last incident involving the kkk in Canada? Fact Check: The KKK has never been a threat to anyone in Canada and is not a real concern in 2022. Toronto over the past four years has had over 400 shootings each year. How many have been linked to a white supremacist organization? Fact Check: None. https://data.torontopolice.on.ca/pages/shootings Do you believe banning the Proud Boys, flags, and kkk symbols are more important than addressing gun violence by gangs? Fact Check: MP Singh makes little to no comments about gang violence. In fact, the NDP supports defending the police which would allow shooters to kill more and be caught less. https://torontosun.com/news/provincial/warmington-star-ndp-candidate-carried-f-the-police-protest-sign Most race based studies categorize people into one of three groups: White, Black, other. Stats Canada shows that other/ non whites are the most successful in Canada in terms of earnings, and an OHRC study shows that other/non whites are treated the most favorable by police and a report based on Toronto School District Board data shows "other" are the most successful. Do you believe there is systemic racism? If so, whom does this system favour? You, MP Singh, would fall under other. Is the system designed for your success as an " other"? Do you have " other privileges " ? Fact Check: https://www.policyalternatives.ca/sites/default/files/uploads/publications/National Office/2019/12/Canada's Colour Coded Income Inequality.pdf The following five groups are even with, above, or about equal to White earning power: South Asian (25% of racialized population) are at 0.96 cents Chinese (21%) are at 1.03 Arab (7%) are at 1.00 even Korean (2.5%) are at 1.53 Japanese (1.2%) are at 1.24 Approximately, 60% of non-Whites (third generation or longer) are even or above White earning power. This data is especially telling because these groups actually experienced legitimate systemic racism. Japanese Canadians who are at #2 were subjected to internment in the 1940's. 90% of Japanese Canadians were interned and they now earn more dollar than Whites. How can this be a system of oppression? How are they marginalized in 2021? Chinese Canadians were subjected to the head tax and the exclusion act which are examples of legitimate systemic racism. Now, they earn 1.03 to a White dollar. Arab Canadians are even with the White dollar despite claims of "Islamaphobia". Not all Arabs are Muslim but they are impervious to systemic racism on their ability to earn in Canada. https://edu.yorku.ca/files/2017/04/Towards-Race-Equity-in-Education-April-2017.pdf Figure 6 shows the outcomes for students at the end of the 5-year period. Within this cohort, 84% of White students had graduated from high school at the end of 5 years, compared to 87% of other racialized students. Other are graduating at a higher rate than White students. This is not evidence of systemic racism rather the contrary. https://edu.yorku.ca/files/2017/04/Towards-Race-Equity-in-Education-April-2017.pdf 4.1.c Post-secondary confirmation (university): 60% to 47% Figure 8 compares the post-secondary plans of Black and White high school students in the same cohort. As the graph shows, almost half (47%) of the White students in this cohort applied to and were accepted by an Ontario university. A larger proportion of other racialized students (60%) in this cohort applied to and were accepted by an Ontario university. The group " other " has the statistical advantage. Mr. Singh, Please advise how Chinese people make up almost 20% of Canada 'a population yet less than 6% of the incarceration rate. Why does " systemic racism " not apply to Chinese people in the justice system? Fact Check: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incarceration_in_Canada Name any law in 2022 that is racist in favour of whites. Fact Check: There are none. All provinces have Human Rights legislation that make it illegal for discrimination based on race. You claim that the media engages in systemic racism by never discussing racism by whites. Are you unaware of media like cbc, Toronto Star, ctv, global news that consistently make news stories focused on racism? At 4:55 Fact Check: Trucker rally. Subban and the flexing fight. Every news story, every day is about how " racist " white people are. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/jagmeet-singh-anti-mask-far-right-1.6020777 Mr. SINGH DO YOU DISAVOW Babbar Khalsa????? I hope someone asks this race baiting grifter anyone of these questions in question period or anywhere else.

  14. Yes. What was most disturbing about yesterday’s press conference and the parliamentary session was that Trudeau’s government never offered to give a timeline for the removal of mandates and restrictions. The official press never asked about this either. The Conservative motion to require government to provide this was defeated by the Liberals and NDP. If anyone on the left had any doubts about the complete arbitrariness of the continued and unnecessary suspensions of our citizens’ rights, yesterday should have left you with no doubts. The Liberals and NDP don’t care about our constitution or the people.

  24. @Army Guy I don't think you have a great understanding of the differences between Legislation and our Court system. Parliament drafts and implements legislation. The Senate reviews and approves it. The Governor General is mostly ceremonial and rubber-stamps the Legislation. After that it's up to the Courts to decide on how these Laws are to be interpreted, enforced or struck down. The Supreme Court of Canada is the highest Court in the land and their decisions are the ultimate application of Canadian Law. Parliament can write new laws, scrap old ones or update them if they want, and the Supreme Court would then have to interpret and then apply those new laws, but only insofar as they're Constitutional. If the Supreme Court deems new laws or revisions violate the Constitution, they can strike them down, and that's it. That's the end of it. The separation of Canada's judicial and legislative systems is a vital part of our society.

  31. This is nothing new. Remember the chaos at Simon Fraser in the early 1970's. Students were afraid to be associated with SFU. Do you seriously think a prof has that much impact on the political biases of their students? I was a university student for seven years. The job of a professor is to be there to lecture, answer questions and give guidance, but primarily, it is research. In the Arts, things are a bit different than in the sciences. In the sciences, 2 + 2 = 4. In history, there are more than one answer. A prof will say William Stevenson (Intrepid) established an Intelligence service that won the war. The student will counter that Stephenson was a fantasist and a liar who took credit for other peoples' work and was sent to the USA to mitigate any further damage to the British war effort. The prof say's "Prove it." That is how we learn history. Not from the professor, but from the library. Most students are left wing. It was that way when I was at UVic in the late 60's and 1970's, and when my father was at UBC in the 1920's. It is amazing how many socialists become conservative by the time they are 40. I was an outlier. I was always a conservative and always will be. That doesn't make me smart, just rigid.

The majority believe that if someone has not gotten it by now, they won’t, and pressuring them is creating backlash that is “worse than living with them in our communities.” Two-thirds of Canadians believe it’s time to drop COVID-19 restrictions and begin living with the virus, according to a new poll. https://nationalpost.com/news/two-thirds-of-canadians-ready-to-drop-covid-19-restrictions Sorry son you are in the minority. The protests have not been peaceful. They blocked critical infrastructure causing billions of dollars of damage to Canadians. Harassed Canadians in the Capital and occupied and blocked streets illegally, illegal weapons and firearms confiscated by RCMP in Alberta. And the protest attended by a few thousand or a few ten thousand at most is hardly by citizens but a fringe minority of citizens. Long live our beloved land of democracy and freedom, Canada. I hope those intend to destroying our values and our land of freedom to be destroyed themselves.

  46. Legislature (ie the politicians elected to sit in parliament) writes and passes laws by introducing them to parliament and then voting on them. The party that won the most parliament seats in the last election can typically get their way over the other parties in parliament because having more seats mean they have more votes (in the case of a minority government like we have now, they have to make a deal with another party in the legislature to get them to vote the same way). The laws that parliament makes must abide by the constitution. If the court rules they are unconstitutional then the law is effectively null and void. Think about it: the attorney general/Minister of Justice is a member of the Prime Minister’s party and is appointed to his job by the Prime Minister. The people appointed by the Prime Minister to run the various government departments and agencies are called Cabinet Ministers and the Minister of Justice is one of them.Pretty much all laws passed by parliament are introduced by a Cabinet Minister, often the Minister of Justice was directly involved in writing the law or is even the one intending it. Why would they rule their own laws unconstitutional? The courts (aka the Judicial branch of government) is independent from the elected (legislative) branch and it is also independent from the the Prime Minister, Cabinet and the departments they control (collectively called the executive branch). That means the Prime Minister cannot fire judges or tell the courts what to say or do, a general cannot have judges arrested, and government agencies and departments cannot ignore judges rulings. You are correct that the courts interpret the law, this includes the constitution. Heres an explanatory video
    1 point
  47. You're not distinguishing between the Judicial and the Legislative systems. That's what you're misunderstanding. I explained the difference in my previous post where I mentioned you @Army Guy. Hope that helps.

  48. No, there is several ways he can accomplish this , make new laws, or declare an emergency and put in place emergency measures act which gives him more power, or have the majority to pass any action that is deemed reasonable. It should be noted this policy has been modified to reduce the amount of power a PM can wield , before this power gave him almost unlimited power he go go to war on the truckers tommorrow if he decided...today he needs a majority in parliament to do anything serious...
