  1. Lost the popular vote in the last two elections.

  2. As voters in a democratic society we are responsible for the actions of the governments we empower. I've suggested outlawing in-camera lobbying to better facilitate the right of Canadians to know what is being discussed in our names behind closed doors where power, influence and wealth mingle. I also think it would do a lot to clean up the misinformation generated by a media that is as in the dark as us and that leaves us divided and inattentive to what's really important not to mention what's actually going on. Further to the above is not just our right to know but our responsibility to know. In actual fact our responsibility precedes our right. It shouldn't be a matter of what Ottawa allows at all and there is something fundamentally flawed in believing or saying it should matter given we're the ones who are empowering Ottawa in the first place. At the end of the day there are 38 million voters in charge of 338 MP's and only 35 of these are Cabinet Members so how hard can it really be to force a better eye on them? I suspect that question will come down to how partisan voters decide to be but before they do it would be wise to perhaps consider that the real divide in Canada is between the powerful and the powerless. Maybe a couple of other better questions for each of us to ask ourselves is whose side am I on and why?

  5. I hope Polievre takes his rightful place at the top and restores the party’s values. It means scrapping the carbon taxes, one of the reasons fuel and heating prices are through the roof. Our cost of living is growing outrageously high. He’ll need to throw a bone to the tree huggers in BC and the Quebec Hydro nationalists. I think changing the building codes to incorporate solar into new roofs and incentivizing wind, geothermal, and deep water cooling through tax breaks is the way to go. Carbon taxes are punitive to workers who have no choice but to drive. Changing how we build will achieve more for emissions reductions than making fuel unaffordable for people who need it to live and can’t afford an electric vehicle.

  6. Not true at all. I’m triple vaccinated and oppose mandates and restrictions, like many of the protesters. The movement isn’t about the value of vaccination; it’s about government overreach and totalitarian approaches in a liberal-democracy.

  7. There was just an article out that said the pandemic responses have not been governed by the science for quite a while now. Lockdowns, restrictions, passports, etc - those decisions are now being governed by the polls. Politicians are doing what YOU want them to do. All the ones here who keep crowing about how 70% or 80% of Canadians WANT restrictions and lockdowns and segregation - they are the ones keeping this going now. And not a bloody one of them look at the science - they only read what the fear-mongering CTV and CBC and Global tell them. It's getting pathetic. And frustrating. And dangerous.

  8. My wife JUST had a horrible reaction to her third shot. Had to go get her....eyes like pinpricks...cold sweat...vertigo...I can't say I'm happy with the situation. I feel like she was just poisoned by the government. She's very pro-vaxx...doing all that they ask. Now this...

  11. the shortages will be blamed on the truckers and the unvaccinated Canadians will not side with them they will side with the government you have far too much faith in Canadians very naive wishful thinking is a helluva drug

  12. Trudeau caused this, and he could have rescinded the trucker mandate a week ago and deflated talk of a convoy. Mandating truckers after 2 years is simply stupid. More so in the context of multiple nations easing restrictions. Every time Trudeau vaccine mandates an industry, it automatically creates shortages and crises within that sector. Because 10-15% of the people in any group would rather lose their job than take “experimental gene therapy”. So then those same people have nothing but time on their hands to organize and protest. The medical industry was mandated, creating bed and staff shortages, and now we are going to see food and retail shortages with the trucker mandates. Trudeau knows fully well he’s creating these dumb ass shortages. Then he beaks off in a press conference about the convoy, followed by going into hiding. What a dolt.

  16. I'm not actually a fan of the way that the Holocaust is 'remembered'. The holocaust wasn't rare or unique, even in the 20th century. It was just one example of something that humans do all too often. When we talk about the holocaust, I think it's really important to think of it as a recurring problem and not a one-off. It's not a "Jew" issue, it's an inhumanity issue.

  19. The information is that the IFR of covid is very slightly higher than the seasonal flu. The information is that for someone in my age group, my chances of dying from covid is less than a half percent. Believe me, it's not me running scared of stats like that and begging the government for more restrictions and lockdowns over what is basically a flu. It's you. And your fear-mongering MSM that has convinced you we're all going to die any second now - no science and no thought given to the real stats. Stop. The. Hysteria.

  21. The hidden truth. A small group making lots of noises. And the social media help them to magnify their protest to represent it much larger than what it really is. The truth is: 90% of Canadian truckers are vaccinated. 90% of Canadians are vaccinated and likely disagree with them. Majority of Canadians are for mandatory vaccination. The silent majority staying at home and watching it through their TV sets while the tiny small minority supporting this come out with flags making lots of noises. They have the right to protest but most Canadians don't support them.

  23. Using the term "anti-vaxxer" is the exact opposite of 'level-headed' and 'non-partisan'. Anti-vaxxer applies to people who refuse to vaccinate their children, using vaccines that have been proven to be safe after millions of doses over several decades, and which give as much as 100% immunity to diseases which are still around and could still gravely injure them or even kill them. Being an anti-vaxxer is to be a denier of proven science. That terminology doesn't apply in this instance at all, any more than the terms racist and misogynist apply here. To use the word anti-vaxer is to be a bigot, of course using the other words is plainly retarded. This covid shot doesn't stop people from dying and it doesn't stop them from passing on the disease. Period. All that it is known to do is to greatly lessen the severity of the disease among people who got the original variant, to somewhat lessen the severity of the disease among people who got the delta variant, and to negligibly lessen the severity of the disease among people who get the omicron variant. And there are extremely serious, well-documented side effects of the vaccines. I've still yet to see a single person anywhere, at any time, on TV or in person, make even a mildly compelling case for vaccinating children. When people talk about vaccinating kids they use innuendo about how dangerous covid might be to them, and they imply that taking the drug is safer than not taking the drug (they never attempt to quantify that), and they completely ignore the cases of myocarditis and the fact that there could be long-term side effects which were not even aware of yet. Can you direct me to a site or an article that makes a reasonable case for vaccinating children, while taking into account paediatric covid stats and myocarditis stats? Do you have a stat that says that more than 27 kids have died of covid in Canada since the beginning of time?.

  24. What do you call a person who insists that Trump's covid shot is a vaccine? What do you call a person who insists that the covid shot is necessary to save the lives of children? What do you call a person who has made declarative statements about covid every day for the past two years and still only has a rudimentary understanding of all the main talking points? What do you call a person who insists that the covid shot is perfectly safe? What do you call an octogenarian who insists that children should take a chance with the vaccine just on the off chance that it helps prevent them from getting covid? FYI your best chance to avoid covid is to think before you vote for people like Cuomo, Pelosi, DeBlasio, Trudeau etc who do literally everything wrong regarding covid. Pelosi: "Hug covid out!" DeBlasio: "Riding the subway like normal is the best thing to do!" Cuomo: "Throw covid-positive people back into the raisin ranch!" Trudeau: "Let infected people fly to Canada and walk around freely until we're saturated with covid, then force Canadians to get vaccine passports!" You'd think that by now, with the benefit of hindsight, leftists would enough to keep their mouths shut and make us all guess how stupid they are, but nope. Still yakkin'. Still exposing their abject stupidity. They literally never learn.

  25. 1. Exactly. 2. Perhaps he dislikes the restrictions, mask wearing and shots as much as anyone, but considers these things to be best for the community. And before you go on about how he's a sheeple who believes whatever the media feeds him, that could also be said of everyone on this site who follows and believes all the media that isn't the MSM. 3. Michael is probably the most level-headed posters on here, one who'll acknowledge other's good points, agree where he thinks there's agreement and admit he's wrong. To call him a partisan means you have no idea what he's about.

  27. I'm with Yzermanduis19 on this one, Canadians are not the same people they once where. the newer generations want everything laid out for them, they like being supported by government, i could go on but hey they already know. Blame it on the boomers is there moto... This convoy is an attack on the vaccinated, and all their beliefs they been told to have, they will defend it with talk lots of talk... And in a week or so it will be over, nothing would have changed, liberals' will still be in charge, it will be mentioned time and time again by the left as a major victory... and life will go on... a much better protest would have just been to stay home, for a couple of weeks...collect CERB and see if the supply chain gets stressed even more. nothing drives people to action than a food shortage...

  28. Its headed that way because the death rate of Omicron is statistically zero. And I understand this B2 variant we're hearing of is even weaker. If there's another choice...please...let me know. I mean, Mike could just be acting the part of a partisan but...I don't sense that in his writings. More I sense he's unable to, or unwilling to, question the institutional forces like government and media.

  31. Yes it will make the more staunch of the freedom haters go wild. I think that would be a good thing. I would encourage them to begin calling people horrid names and choking up visions of Nazi Germany, ASAP. Let Canada see and hear their bilge. Its been slowly making the public sick for quite some time now. The number of vehicles reported will cause disruption for sure. Especially during an Ottawa winter. People in the area will get put out. Some will go see what all the hub-bub is about, and likely find truckers are actually pretty good-hearted folk. Some will likely get their ganders up and confront the truckers. LOL...I might suggest against picking fights with truckers. The Beer Store might do well... In general, I think this will serve to highlight some real complaints that the media has till now, tended to ignore. Canada will see a bunch of rather pleasant folk who provide our national logistics. They'll go to the local grocery store and find, as I have now begun to notice, there really is a shortage for some products and prices are...getting interesting. Pixie-Dust is freaked. Why do you think the poor li'l sweetums got The Rona now? I figure, if he's even half as healthy as I am, he's well over it by now. We'll see if he actually has the leadership qualities to face this demonstration...or at least meet face to face with their organizers. Mobs in the streets are indeed dangerous. And I hope these people know what an opportunity they have here. I hope this goes off completely peacefully, with respect to the protesters. I also think they will be and that it'll be some upidy shithead, or group there-of, that will try to incite a violent reaction. I saw an interesting news report on one of the local stations yesterday. A crew had gone to a parkinglot where convoy supporters were congregated. It seems these convoy supporters didn't have much use for the news guy and his crew. Go figure. There's going to be more of that this weekend as well. It'll be interesting how people react to that.

  32. One of the things that has been discussed in Senate hearings is that the CDC and FDA must NEVER again be allowed to to be in bed with the pharmaceutical companies and that changes need to be made to laws to ensure these entities never again become shills of Big Pharma. Does that seem reasonable to you? It seems reasonable to me.

  33. IFR for seasonal flu is 0.1% IFR for covid is 0.15% Where were these "community values" before covid? There were not restrictions, no lockdowns, no business/school closures, no forced flu shots, no segregating society, no masks, etc for the seasonal flu. We are doing all this for 0.05% increase in IFR. This makes sense to you?

  36. I will say, I'm starting to agree that rolling restrictions on freedoms based on case counts and hospitalization figures are oppressive and borderline fascist. But that shouldn't be conflated with a bilateral policy of requiring truckers who cross the border regularly to be vaccinated. That's not terribly controversial.

  39. A government, any government needs to be kept in check and well within its box. Otherwise it will grow without limits and stick its nose into everything. Of course out of the best intentions and for common good. In this country we have no effective checks on the governments, just none. Sure we had opinion polls but now governments are discovering that those can be manipulated particularly effectively with fear, confusion and division. This is a real problem, ahead of everything else, including vaccinations. And if we won't find solutions we'll be screwed in this century if not by pandemic then by one of a host of problems that are piling up.

  40. That's an opinion that doesn't mesh with what health authorities are reporting or with what experts are advising them. Hey give me break, the title simply comes with the job and in actual fact my underlings like to use it in a mocking tone and genuflect in an often exaggerated scornful manner, it's really not all it's cracked up to be. I'm actually surprised the term hasn't been stricken from its official and industrial use given the day and age we're in. Maybe I could make it a human rights case based on the way it's used to humiliate ME. Imagine that a despot advocating for his own dethronement. They just don't make us lefties the way they used to.

  42. I pray, as the world prays that the Truckers can end medical experiments in Canada. It has stripped Freedom, assets, lives, minds, hearts and souls. Be brave, stand tall and know that this government and nefarious persons and the military have been torturing and using people's bodies for decades for the ultimate solution... real estate, medical device testing (without consent) for patents and research and development grants which are not regulated GLOBALLY.

  43. Many are commenting that this is the first time they've felt HOPE in 2 years. The support from the Hutterites and the Indigenous people has been wonderful, too - and not being picked up in the press. The Hutterites know the government wants their land. 45. It's not the same news around the world at all, did you think the news was the same on 9/11, on US news stations as it was on al Jazeer. no not the same news at all, one was reporting on a terrorist attack and the other was reporting Muslims around the globe cheering....It is crazy to think that everyone is getting the same news, in china, Russia, Ukraine etc... Even here in Canada there is a large difference in reporting from a right point of view and the others from a left point of view, same stories different coverages, different angles different perspectives. i mean why do people on here not take some sources serious and other gospel. Rebel news for instance same news way different take on it... The media is reporting news to make a buck not becasue they want to do you a favor and let you know whats going on, so yes they are going to put lipstick on every story becasue it sells... and if you can't see that, then maybe you have become nose blind to all the shit, everyone has been pushing as news...

  46. A long interview but well worth the time. Brian Peckford is the only remaining drafter of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. -Peckford provides a solid analysis of the Charter and how governments have trampled the Charter. -Peckford will be launching a lawsuit against the Federal government for their travel ban, keeping unvaccinated Canadians off public transportation. -The Government has abused the Emergency Measures section of the Charter. No challenges in parliament have occurred. -His decision to circumvent the news media is because there's no major news outlet who'd give fairness to the arguments. The news media has recieved 6million tax payer dollars, placing them in a position where they aren't able to criticize government. -Conversations with senior provincial advisors have been had and policy isn't driven by the science but rather short term opinion polling. -Media is driving opinion polling through ads and coverage which is basically just state television/propaganda -Trudeau Sr tried a power play by going to the courts and unilaterally tried passing a Charter but was struck down.
