Yes, but it is a common social and political dynamic in the U.S. because the Democratic party is very dependent on the so called "black vote", and anything that reduces turnout and votes in "urban" cities and counties hurts their election chances. This is why we see prominent "people of colour" with conservative views on Fox News and social media channels. Other African American groups have openly challenged the Democrats to earn their vote instead of presuming they have no other choices or ideas. Racism is a fundamental building block in U.S. history and development...it cannot be totally extinguished for lots of reasons, including special interest groups who will never give up on racism as a political weapon. That's why some of the Democrat candidates are beating the drum about slavery reparations....and identity politics revolving around race. It's still something that makes me uneasy a bit, because where I grew up in Québec, everyone got along very well and racism was not accepted at all. Even in my super white rural neighborhood growing up when I was a child, there was no tolerance for racism at all, some kids would get beat up for that. It's not something you bring up in Québec. You may bring up the other person's language (English vs French) for its lack of cultural assimilation, but race, never. I am in agreement with people who say that there is a crisis at the border. I never said there wasn't one. It's multi-faceted. It involves human trafficking, drugs, terrorists, people are dying in the desert, the cartels are making a small fortune, families are still getting separated at the border, it's an expensive problem, the tens of thousands of daily interactions between border guards and illegal immigrants will eventually result in an unfortunate incident, and the US can't handle immigration at the current rate, etc. I think that the Dems are working much harder to gain political points from it than they are at trying to solve the problem.
