Before anyone says that men playing the roles of female characters in theatrical productions is the same.. it is not. That is a function of supply vs. demand in most cases. 5 female characters but only 2 females available to play those parts. To have an entire camp centered around it is not the same.

S'ok.... I don't support buying sports Stadiums for teams that already make money so please absolutely DO state what you do and don't support.   Last year the Manitoba Theatre got about $200K.  Skydome was probably about a Billion dollars in current money.

So, yeah... we all like things and don't like things....

They also cross-gender cast in plays these days and that's been a thing for over 30 years not due to supply/demand etc.

Well this isn't theatre and the requirement to provide a military is part of the constitution.

If PP gets in and says they're cancelling all theatre funding and putting the money into gun clubs and firearms training camps i wonder if you'll be quite this accepting of it

Great side topic.  Given that we are going down this path, you have accepted my point and I thank you for that.

I have explained that I'm not a Trudeau fan and they don't know how to be smart with money so none of this surprises me.

There's no culture war here - we're sending our kids to Theatre Classes, mind your own business.  How did we 'start this' exactly ?  Was drag invented this year ?

So to unpack:

 

1) a community theatre which receives public funds offers many different programs in the community 

2) ONE of those programs this year is a “drag camp” for youth age 13-18

3) Therefore the government is deliberately plotting to fund kids drag camp as part of some sinister agenda 

Lets pause here to acknowledge #3 is a false conclusion because governments don’t control or micromanage the community programming. A government worker doesn’t taste every pie at the local peach pie festival before deciding it can receive funds. This is like the fake controversy the right tried to gin up a few years ago over a giant rubber duck at the privately run Toronto Harbour festival…duck was a big hit BTW…because like so many events some public funds were included and people demanded to know what government official approved the duck. The answer is none because the government donates to, but doesn’t manage, these kinds of things   And the enormous rubber duck turned out to be a major public draw, everyone wanted to come see it and get their picture taken with it  The conservatives’ fake controversy just ended up being free publicity  

 

4) GROOMING!  Well apparently some parents feel their 13-18 yr old is mature enough to participate in these types of activities if that’s what they’re interested in.  
 

So questions:

Do you really think RIGHT WING CANCEL CULTURE is somehow going to make these kids lose interest and become straight if you shut these programs down?  
 

Do you really think “normal” straight kids are flocking to this program and will “catch the gay”?  

Do you really think you’ll accomplish anything by going after and canceling these fringe groups and making martyrs out of them?
