There was a book that I had read many decades ago called: Bilingual Today, French Tomorrow. It was written by a guy named Andrews, first name escapes me right now, and in his book he wrote that the big plans for Canada were that the french socialist liberals in Quebec, Trudeau, Marchand and Joyal, were about to try and takeover the rest of English Canada and turn it into a french socialist country. And if we all opened up our eyes and brains, we could see that this has pretty much happened and taken place in Canada today. Canada has truly become a french controlled socialist country where the french of Quebec do run and control the goings on in English Canada today. They receive billions in transfer payments from the rest of English Canada, and they still have the nerve and gall to give English Canada the middle finger. 

It's hard to believe that here in Canada, a province like Quebec, can actually declare itself a unilingual french speaking province only and get away with it with no consequences attached. Try doing the same thing in some English speaking province in Canada and watch the shit hit the fan. That province would be called an anti-french and bigoted promoting province. And the baboons that would do and say that would be our own Anglophone leftist liberal media, and our cowardly English speaking politicians. 

There can be no doubt about it that Quebec runs and rules over Canada. Pretty much all of our PM's of Canada have come from french speaking socialist Quebec. Quebec can go unilingual french while English Canada must go and become bilingual. Quebec has become a taboo and sacred cow province in Canada and must never be criticized for anything that they say or do, just worship and bow down before them for their french uniqueness.

So, just keep kissing our french speaking only butts and shut the hell up English Canada. This is our Canada, and not yours anymore English Canada. While Ontario has pretty much gone bilingual crazy, Quebec stays unilingual french speaking only. Most Anglophones are bloody dumb and stupid alright. They are getting what they deserve. It definitely makes me question the value of having a Canada.  Imagine the savings if all powers devolved to the provinces as independent states.  We could stop paying off Quebec and stop paying for all this French language training in the rest of Canada.  We could end the Trudeau Laurentian elites’ overbearing and expensive social controls and pet projects.  Quebec would be isolated in North America and stop draining our coffers.  Ontario would finally fire on all cylinders economically.  Alberta could keep its oil money.  BC would lapse into eco-communist hell.  I’m starting to not give a shit.  Trudeau’s Canada, that we’re always told is colonial and shameful, is getting too expensive.  Scrap all this federal nonsense altogether.  Let the communists in Ottawa get real jobs and work for a living.

The only bilingual Province in Canada is New Brunswick. The rest of us are unilingual.

I remember when Alberta was a have not province and Saskatchewan only stopped getting equalization payments because Stephen Harper broke his promise.

The value of having French is it is one more cultural difference with the Americans. French was traditionally the language of Court. We never had a king who spoke English until John. I understand it is the second unofficial language of Florida. ?

Quebec is not subject to the Charter of Rights & Freedoms, because Quebec is not signatory to that constitution

again, having declined to ratify, Quebec is by default still governed by the pre 1982 British North America Act

I doubt that would happen.  Chances are better some states would ask if newly separated provinces wanted to consider forming something even newer/better.

I've never really bought into separation, notwithstanding an old Vancouver Island Liberation Organization tee shirt I once had but it's not hard to slip into thinking about it.  It seems to me that the US is far more likely to come apart at the seams than Canada these days.  Perhaps we should all be a little more open minded enough to entertain the possibility.  Our constitutions and governing systems came into being in a day and age that is so far far removed from 2022 in so many ways. It can't keep up with us and I doubt we're going to go back to that day and age.  In both cases there is enormous pressure building for reforms at the same time there is just as much resistance to any reforms at all.  Something has to give, pressure can only build so much.

The potential for violence in the US is obvious but is there really any reason to believe there would be any real violence in Canada? I acknowledge the FLQ crisis was violent but that was then not now.  Personally I think most Canadians would shrug and take de-confederation in stride, by that I mean we wouldn't come unhinged over it.

One way or another though things will change. Nothing stays the same forever and there's probably a good reason why...it's just nature's way. Sometimes it's better to go with it than fight it.

Personally I'd rather see one united planetary government but I clearly watched too much Star Trek when I was growing up.  I'm surprised Star Trek gets the respect it does given how socialist it is.

Ontario is another bilingual province. It is just that bilingualism has not, as of yet, been officially declared bilingual in Ontario. But in reality, Ontario is now a bilingual province. Everything the Ontario government posts in signage, or in news feeds, or government programs has french attached to it. Manitoba is doing the same. 

I don't care if it makes Canada appear to be culturally different to America. There is just no need for Canada to declare itself to be an officially bilingual country, especially, just for one french speaking province, whom btw, does not want to have anything to do with the rest of English language. Scrapping the official languages act of Canada could save the rest of English Canada hundreds of billions of their tax dollars every year. Works for me.
