Some stern resemblance there - or is it just me?

Agreed that tyranny 'looks like' this ... but if you dig down, it's not.

This is more like tyranny - they teargas protestors so the king can be seen walking proudly in "his" streets, not "our" streets

Do you think tyranny starts with tear gas?

it's an insult to Fidel Castro to say he would do something like this

Castro was a superb military leader

he just would have gone out and rallied the truckers to his side

with a rousing speech about the World Socialist Revolution

at the end, when they were all cheering him

Castro would say

"hasta la victoria siempre, commandante"

He likes to define it in such a way that it can be seen only or mostly where he expects. Like using extraordinary powers to deal with a peaceful protest of citizens against abuse of power has nothing to do with tyranny. Monkey see no evil!

Nope...Trump never declared martial law...because he can't.

Is it just a coincidence that now both instances of War/Emergency Measures have been invoked by PMs named Trudeau ?

The RCMP has a history of goose stepping.  Think the gun grabs of high river.  And now arrests in Coutts?

they are all conflicted

when you look them in the eyes, they look away

I forgive them tho, I'm over fifty now, so these Mounties look very young to me

they are inexperienced, getting conned by a Conman

They have absolutely no over sight.   The only one they are accountable to is Parliament.  They need a watch dog.

1. Riiiiiiight... because "democracies" don't have process, they just have the king tell his henchmen to clear the streets ahead of him....

2. You're American so you don't understand how they are seen here:  a kind of Canadian "Dirty Harry" so they can't be popular with everyone... they're here to clean the scum of the streets ;)

I am just trying to save them from doing something they will come to regret

as a veteran I am warning them, this is the shit that gives you ptsd later in life

you'll be hitting the whisky & spiraling down, ashamed for being conned by a clown like Trudeau

You are military?  I know a fellow at Church who resigned the RCMP over the vaccine mandate.

Trump never "cleared the streets" for the entire nation.   If you are comfortable with what Trudeau has done here, that's fine.  But other Canadians will rightfully disagree...or is that not allowed anymore either ?

Canadian or American...the larger issue is plain to see...or ignored by partisan folks.   Martial law use to be for Haiti...not Canada.

The Emergency Act is not the War Measures Act and there is no Army being sent in.  The Emergency act is not being applied everywhere.  You are spreading false information in claiming it is to clear the streets "everywhere".  It is not.  It is only being applied where there are illegal acts, such as the occupation of Ottawa, the capital city, because it is an insurrection, an attempt by a far right group to overthrow the government and set up an unelected dictatorship.  It is 60% funded by far right radicals in other countries, mainly in the U.S.  The act gives the police and authorities more tools to effectively deal with the anarchy and occupation as well as stop the flow of money to fund it.

Some man baby Prime Minister getting humiliated on the world stage isn't grounds for declaring an emergency
