  1. Carney hints at dropping some U.S. tariffs if it will help Canadian industries hit by trade war | CBC News Sigh, i'm not even kidding. He's saying that in order to fight us tariffs he'll lower counter tariffs (which was how he was supposed to pay for helping industries) even further . "Stop tariffing us or in retaliation we'll completely stop tariffing you!!" er..... SIgh. We are so effed.

  2. At the time I said, as clear as day. WTF is wrong with hard boiled right wing conservatives reading comprehension these days? Is it a virus of some kind? He's obviously taking things into consideration on the fly. Everyone has to do that when the most powerful human in the known universe is behaving like a hummingbird on crack. Sure, but it's not the only energy corridor we have access too. In any case doing nothing is still a viable option while Trump is still doing more damage than we could inflict.

  3. They didn't tell us that was the reason at the time. This is AFTER the fact they admitted that was the motivation for the lie. The lie was just telling us we didn't need masks. The lie is that they knew they didn't really know why COVID was so contagious, but it is just common sense that a highly contagious disease rapidly spreading is doing so likely through the air, yet they told us all not to worry about needing masks, no big deal, which is dishonesty, an outright lie.

  8. Yeah I know it's hard for you to understand the fact that WE pay those tariffs. so if business needs to buy supplies to make things, a tariff makes them less competitive. Just like how if an American company needs Cdn aluminum it hurts them even if there's a US supplier because they charge more. And if they do spent billions in planning and construction it will take a long time and they'll charge even more.

You're fullyl aware that you're going out of your way to be a malicious troll. However you have managed to unite posters who while being outright hostile when it comes to politics are Canadians.

  15. Absolutely nothing changed. He lied. The guy you supported and thought was the best choice turned out to be an abject liar again. And he is going to wind up harming the country in the same way the last loser you supported did, Trudeau. It would never happen. We would crash the American economy right along with it, Canada is your number one biggest trading partner by far and there is no replacing it. You guys would all be living in parks eating tins of dog food I'm afraid Long before then everybody would come to the table and make a deal

  17. He probably reasoned it was the right thing to say at the time and since then things have changed. It seemed it was Canada taking the biggest brunt of Trump's tariff war at first but now he's taken it worldwide. Now Trump has boxed America in just as Americans are starting to feel the effects of tariffs. Now that everyone is under tariffs there is nowhere for America to seek cheaper alternatives and no reason for tariffed countries to compete. There is no need to hurt ourselves to get at Trump. He's very successfully shooting himself in the head. Elbows can be maintained in a more neutral position. We have plenty of dry powder left. If we need to for example we can jack up their energy costs.

  19. Is there nothing Trump does which you will condemn? Seems NOT.

  20. When it comes to Hamas in Gaza... yeah. There were a couple of times over the years the attacks were too much, but for the most part Israel pulled out and left them alone. Hamas and the Palestinian people chose terrorism over peace and prosperity. The International community poured billions and billions into that place over the years to help build infrastructure and they threw it away to build rocket launchers and terror tunnels instead.

  24. As the world deglobalizes one common theme appears, the break down of global supply chain. Modern society is dependent on the end product of these supply chain. The working population is aging into mass retirement, the developed world is running out of workers. The symptoms of which is mass immigration from other countries with the implicit goal of keeping a second class of undocumented workers for cheap low skill labor. But this is just a short term solution as the prolific use of birth control is giving women an unprecedented body autonomy lowering reproductive rates below replacement levels. While the Stan countries and Africa who have not yet fully modernize, have above replacement fertility, we still see their birth rate dropping from previous higher levels past. The primary reason for the low fertility is of course the high cost (includes oppurtunity cost) for raising children. As with anything that is expensive, this means that we have fewer of them. America is a notable exception as it is one of the few modern countries whose fertility rate did not drop below replacement until recently as of 2010, this is before you consider our massive immigration system. This means that there is a window of oppurtuinity for America to survive unscathe from this deglobalizing world. We still have the workforce and consumption base (15-45 see second bulge larger than boomers) to maintain the known economic model where producer and consumer generate revenue and spend. This will no longer be possible for the countries that are aged beyond the necessary consumption to justify their industries. China is a hall mark example of what happens when the birth rate is below replacement for 50 years. They will never rise to be a super power. There might not even be a chinese person by the end of this century. China is facing national dissolution and deindustrialization. There is still time for America to right this ship, Israel is an example of a highly dense urban population with a high fertility rate. This is done as a religous duty to be fruitful and multiply. America has an oppurtunity to correct it's mistake, there will no longer be a never ending supply of immigrants. This decade is the last we will see the large number of economic migrant from South America. Enter Trump, by raising tariff barriers and reshoring the supply chain, America stand to gain from the economic prosperity of this buildout and the income to raise a larger family. We will see a larger pool of capital flight from countries where economic models are no longer possible. Everyone will try to park the money in safer shores. Trump is bringing all the necessary ingredients for the next era of American preeminence. It will be a shining hill on the vast landscape of darkness. It needs one more ingredient to be a stunning success, the adoption of faith. People will not bear life into this world unless there is faith that better days are coming, that their children will inherit the fruits of their success. See projection to 2050.

  25. Are you dense? The article says clearly his wife was locked up for her political views. There is no freedom or justice system in Russia. Obviously he believed he could be next to be arrested and possibly tortured and had to flee from Russia. He did apply for asylum in the U.S. and cleared the screening process. Now ICE is arresting many who are not American citizens and deporting them. ICE apparently are almost all private contractors and they must be getting paid according to the number of people they arrest and deport. He has a legitimate fear about going back to Russia. How is it you don't understand that? He came to America to escape being imprisoned and possibly losing his son in the first place. That should not be too difficult to understand. Do you even bother to read articles and understand them before commenting? I don't think so.

  26. Did you bother to read the article? He applied for asylum in the U.S. and passed through the screening process. So he did apply the proper way. Why can't you understand a simple article? Nothing complicated about it, unless you have problems comprehending a simple article.

  29. Don't forget, they drfine words by the emotions the word elicits. In this case, credible gives them hope that it is true so they feel good and believe it because they desperately want it to be true. Meanwhile, credible actually means "filed a report." Hell, the report reads like a bad "your mama" joke. ICE detentions is so bad, I had a miscarriage...twice!" Another pregnant woman told Rep. Ayana Pressley (D-MA) that she miscarried twice while in a DHS facility And, of course, what the reporter doesn't tell you is that many of those "credible reports" are for inmates to inmate sexual abuse and attacks and this whole report was created by a Democrat who failed to include any actual cases, names or incident reports. Lastly, a big part of the argument why these people should be allowed to stay in America and be free is that they are too violent to lock up. https://www.ossoff.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/250721_Pregnancy_Report_v7.pdf

  32. We actually do not care. The quicker they leave our country the shorter their torture. They had every opportunity to get a free one way plane ticket and 1000$ in their pocket. It’s a detention center not a five star hotel. and stop referring to sleeping in the floor as torture. It’s a luxury compared to what our soldiers deployed gets.

  33. They had due process, they had orders of deportation, they refused to deport. Children are seperated from parents because we don't put children in detention. It is no different than if a parent was caught breaking the law with their children by reckless endangerment in a car, DUI, or any number of things... they don't put their children in jail with them.

  36. Irrelevant Doesn't matter. October 7th was entirely the fault of and responsibility of gaza and its government 100%. Canada was not involved and had nothing to do with it. And all your lies to the contrary don't change that. You can try and justify that attack to your heart's content and claim that they were acting with a human rights or that it's Canada's fault but none of that is true and none of that is going to be true

So of course I supported the lockdown. Only an id!ot wouldn't! I worked in construction, one of the few industries that kept going to keep the economy from total collapse. We masked, kept our distance, went home and stayed in. If the right wing A-holes had had their way (no lockdown, no masks, gatherings allowed, etc... we would have had a lot more deaths! To say otherwise is STUPID! Glad you agree with me.

  43. Yes and the Canadian government has updated their travel advisory for the US. My point is, a country doesn't need a reason to refuse entry. There is no right to enter someone else's country. This isn't about religion, it's an "entertainer" coming here to peddle the views of a man who has threatened this country's economy and sovereignty. Give me one reason why we should let him in.
