Trump does not like to lose. And to him, if any country has a trade surplus with the US, that means the US is losing. So the only thing left to do is accuse them of cheating and call them names and punish them. This is not helping the US. It's entirely counterproductive. Not only does it increase the input costs for US manufacturers, it angers other nations, many of them US allies or those the US has been hoping to make allies. When the US slaps big tariffs on other countries, they start looking for other trading partners. China is the most obvious. Even Australia has turned to China after the US slapped tariffs on imports from them because... because... just because. Everyone is cheating. Everyone except the US, of course, at least according to the puffy-faced orange man. So punishing them with tariffs is only 'right'. Except those who are 'punished' for doing nothing get angry and resentful. The US is rapidly becoming the most despised country in the world, even among Western countries. Trump slapped 50% tariffs on Brazil the other day because he doesn't like how they've treated a former president. China is already Brazil's top trading partner. Expect that relationship to grow closer. The US has no choice but to buy copper abroad. All this latest idiocy does is increase the costs for US manufacturers. But Trump doesn't understand economics or business, or really much of anything. He's the dumbest man every to set foot in the White House, and that includes the cooks and busboys.4 points

Canada's government debt-to-GDP ratio is low (well below 100%) and falling. Overall, the world is not in debt -when you add up the numbers, it must be zero. (We cannot borrow from Martians!) Higher debt? It means more lenders. More people who trust each other.2 points

I swear, you are the absolute dumbest member of this forum. These were not conservatives or people on the right: Suspects reportedly carried a flag that read “resist fascism, fight oligarchy” flyers that said “fight ICE terror with class war” and “free all political prisoners.” Officers also recovered anarchist literature titled Organizing For Attack – Insurrection Anarchy. https://www.yahoo.com/news/ambush-anti-enforcement-militants-allegedly-014016632.html2 points

Showing once again just how stupid the Mango M0ron is. About THE most important metal in the modern world, the Blob doesn't realize the USA is part of it. Increases costs for every single product manufactured in the USA. Crazy glue the id1pt's mouth shut and cut off his tiny tiny hands or the USA before he collapses his own economy with his tariff stupidity.2 points

Watch the following clip. It's rather important in my view. I've been saying similar for a while. Let Africa develop. Enough social aid. Thoughts?1 point

Violent destabilization & open ethnic violence across the West is inevitable. Southport was a mere glimpse of what's coming and once that cat is out of the bag it's spreading across Western societies like a wildfire. The only question is which country kicks it off. Denialism, gaslighting, weaponized suicidal empathy, and pre-emptive framing is not working, Herbie. When that day comes, I hope you realize it's because of cowards, cucks, and useful dupes like you. If you think things are bad, divided now...well, you haven't seen shit yet. It's all downhill from here as we rapidly approach demographic tipping points across the West.1 point

That's funny.... You imply he's dead because of retribtuion from 'very powerful people' then immediately say 'end of story'. The funniest part of this is your comment on the DOJ looking at Brennan and Comey as being "delicious'. 😂 So if I got this straight.... let's move on from Epstein because that could possibly implicate Trump, but let's have some fun seeing them go after political enemies from 9 years ago. Makes sense....1 point

There are a lot of media choices available. If you don't like CBC, find something else. You're skirting the point..... if it's that bad for you in Canada, leave. Life's too short to be b*tching about the same thing every day.1 point

Well, it helps if you were not a coward hiding from me. Seriously, you still respond to random comments of mine... so what gives? Are you an even bigger coward than I thought, you do look at my comments, but run away and pretend like you don't see them? ROFL Antifa is a leftist organization.1 point

Sunwing ISN'T and airline, it's a charter service. WestJet would want it for its routes and infrastructure. Not particularly for its name or reputation.1 point

Point was, I don't believe AC is the 'worst airline in the world' or even close to that. Like most interactions a consumer has though.... a negative experience has them telling give or take ~7 people while we only tell give or take ~2 people of a positive experience.1 point

The Mango M0ron even tweeted how vital copper is to US National Security, and then goes on to threaten to increase its price 50% The USA can't produce enough on its own at this time and it will take years to build up to the point that it can. Once again, the fool fails to understand this fact. If he wants the US to produce more things it would be more effective to give incentives to do so rather than threats and punishment. But an egotistic arsehole that thinks the number of people you fire is a sign of how good a manager you are simply can't understand that concept. He is actually crippling national security with this latest threat.1 point

You would have a real difficult time flying in Canada with United, Lufthansa or KLM. All airlines are going to have booking or delay challenges from time to time - that's common and nature of the industry. My career had me on planes more than most ever will be and despite 'seeing it all' from AC in particular, I'd also say they're a very good airline to fly with.1 point

This is so stupid. You are just as big of a brain-dead conspiratorial nut as anyone else is. The Epstein files, whatever they are, have existed throughout the entirety of the Biden administration. If there was something there damning to Trump, you think Biden was in on the conspiracy to keep them from the American people too?1 point

Totally not a leftist... *sarcasm* Of course @robosmith is a coward hiding from me and is a coward that runs from these threads when proven wrong anyway.1 point

Why do you think we should acknowledge this every single day? Why should every single public gathering begin with a snivilling whine about how we're on someone else's land and don't really belong here? Why is it necessary to 'acknowledge' that we came here from somewhere else (as did the 'indigenous' centuries ago? Why is every holiday an exercise in 'acknowledgement'? This is not correcting history. It is wallowing in white liberal guilt because you're so, so very sad that our ancestors were smarter, stronger, and more sophisticated than theirs.1 point

We live in a world where often all we have to go by is eye witness accounts. There are many things that Trump is doing that should raise questions about who you can believe. You have to decide yourself. If you think the idea of sending migrants to CECOT was right then you have a moral problem and may not be able to judge anything.1 point

So? He's negotiating. Numbers change. Its ok. Why do you think that is true? Deals are being cut. Negotiations are happening. How is that a loss? No one has done this before. Just the fact the act is happening is a win. A few. Not nearly 90. But just finishing the deals isn't the goal. Finishing good deals is. Trump also planned on exiting Afghanistan but didnt because conditions were not right. Enter Joe Biden and he pulls out just to make a deadline and for no other reason. How well did that work out? But the tarrifs are raising revenue: U.S. tariff revenues could reach $300-billion this year, Treasury Secretary https://www.theglobeandmail.com/world/us-politics/article-us-tariff-revenues-could-reach-300-billion-this-year-treasury/1 point

You didn't even read what you posted? 'A spokesperson for Prime Minister Mark Carney said the government won't be commenting until Trump signs an executive order and more details are available.' The markets were already reacting today to his tariff talk, and then the copper announcement. Anything Carney would have or could have said wasn't changing anything. Take a lesson from Carney.... Sometimes best to just keep your mouth shut.1 point

And the law is such that a permanent resident has a right to stay. If when he was convicted of something and received probation, why was he not ordered to leave the country at that time? Because obviously there was no law that said he had to be told to leave and no law that says he had to leave. The Biden admin did not order him to leave. They obviously did not see a reason to do so. So what changed? The Trump admin came into government and decided every non-U.S. citizen who had a record of any kind must now be deported by the use of ICE; arrest, imprison and deport. Maybe the law gives Trump the power to deport any non-citizen if he so chooses, but that was not how the previous admin operated. He was here legally. But there are also Constitutional rights that non-citizens have that are not being respected. The way people are now being treated is something that never happened until in the last few months.1 point

Think twice, talk once.... What the hell is Carney supposed to publicly say about another Trump idea that creates inflation for the US customer. If every provinces main industry was oil & gas we'd all have a lesser impact wouldn't we. Why does Smith need credit for that? Try thinking man!1 point

Like the tariff on lumber, all this does is increase the input cost for American manufacturers. They have no choice but to import copper and lumber. Same for aluminum. They don't produce nearly enough. Nor are there any silent copper mines or smelting resources they can just kickstart into action. Such things take many years and no one is going to do it because they'll assume sanity will return after the ignorant orange is gone.1 point

People forget that the auto industry grew up on both sides of the border simultaneously. It was always both Canadian and American. Oshawa’s McLaughlin, the maker of autos by the same name became incorporated into GM as Buick. He became a VP of GM. Rubber for tires came out of Bowmanville. Cutting Canada out of auto manufacturing is like cutting one of your children out of your will. It’s unfair and causes resentment.1 point

There is still some strange persisting idea in some people's minds that if you are pro-Russian you must be a leftist. Something to do with the 80's mindset even though these days it is the leftists who call everybody who disagrees with them as Putinists. Btw calling people Putinists has become like calling people fascists or racists, completely useless abuses which have lost their meaning due to overuse. However, there can be both right-wing and left-wing people who are pro-Russian. That is actually being Russophile. For Russophiles the existing societal system has only instrumental value be it the Czar, the communists or Putin. The most important thing for Russophiles is that the interests of Russia comes first and whichever political at any given time serves the Russian interests best is used but is discarded if need be. Russophiles, unless they are Russians themselves, is about the lowest form of human life. Our parliament in Finland passed the NATO-application by votes 184-7. I think that is fairly accurate proportion of people in our country how many people are Russophiles how many most definitely are not.1 point
