  4. These arguments are so dumb on their face. Nothing was stopping China from giving all the $$$ to foreign aid they wanted to before this. Also, all aid is not being stopped. The department was moved to State under Rubio and they kept on some 800ish employees that will remain focused on continuing with aid aligned with foreign policy. What exactly did Trump do or say that opened the door to annexation? Exactly what plans to cede renewable energy tech markets to China? It is comical though, how now you guys thing China is a big threat we have to deal with...

  7. Trump is the major factor. He can seriously damage Poilievre’s chances if he goes all out against us. In that case, there’ll be support for the Libs right across the political spectrum including from many who haven’t voted in a while and disillusioned Liberal voters who might have sat this one out. Plus Danielle Smith might be a little preoccupied with events closer to home to play at Trump whisperer again. Best case for PP is that this round of tariffs is the last, the whole disgraceful story peters out and he glides in on what’s left of his lead. Has anybody asked Trump about the political effect he is having up here?

  17. You must have missed this: Hey everyone, I've noticed that some topic titles are too vague or unclear, making it harder for others to understand what the discussion is about. While a creative or mysterious title might seem interesting, it can actually make it more difficult for members to engage with your post. Why does this matter? A clear and descriptive title helps others quickly grasp what your topic is about. It improves engagement—people are more likely to click and participate. It enhances Search Engine Optimization (SEO), making topics easier to find on search engines like Google. It makes the forum more organized and accessible for everyone. Best Practices for Titles: Be specific: Instead of "Wow, did you see this?" → Try "New Policy Proposal on Tax Reform – What Do You Think?" Use key details: Instead of "A Big Problem" → Try "Concerns About New Internet Regulation – Impact on Free Speech?" Avoid clickbait or one-word titles: Make sure the title reflects the discussion topic. This small change makes a big difference for the quality of discussions and the visibility of our community. Let’s all work together to make our forum more engaging and searchable! Thanks! 🚀

  21. Let's do the math here. Scanning 7 million containers per year at an average cost of $3500 each = $24.5 billion dollars to save 8000 people per year is around $3 million each. But let's say we're actually trying to save 350,000 Canadians who are addicted to opioids...that works out to $70,000 each. How much are you willing to pay?

  22. Children do not have full legal rights in the society for a reason: they could not fully understand a) the consequences of their choices and actions and b) the full extent of responsibility for them. It is wrong to prosecute a 12-year old for a crime as an adult. And it is equally wrong to pretend that they could have the maturity, understanding and responsibility of an adult if/when making such choices, often irreversible or with dire physical effects. There's no rational reason to expose children before and/or without fully formed notions/concepts of sexuality to this topic until they formed more or less stable understanding of sexuality that normally happens by late teen age. Professional counseling should be there for those specific individuals who may need it, and that's as far as is reasonable for this theme to be exposed in schools. Everything else, washrooms, colored books, events and parades is pointless, dumb and dangerous including real, tangible risk to individuals who cannot yet grasp full extent of consequences of their choices. Its blind ideological stupidity that fully mirrors that of the right-wing crowd. And it will blow back, reflux and keep hitting the star-eyed crowd on the back of their heads all the way till one of the two happens: they will learn, even painfully, the connection to the objective reality; or the democracy would exit because common folk would prefer a liar who speaks their language to some star-eyed alien spinning unbelievable fairy tales. Now, why is it so hard to understand? Where is the real problem that asks for and requires these moral crusades?

  24. USAID is (was) a slush fund for DEI and other woke bullshit. Let's check it out: For decades, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been unaccountable to taxpayers as it funnels massive sums of money to the ridiculous — and, in many cases, malicious — pet projects of entrenched bureaucrats, with next-to-no oversight. Here are only a few examples of the WASTE and ABUSE: $1.5 million to “advance diversity equity and inclusion in Serbia’s workplaces and business communities” $70,000 for production of a “DEI musical” in Ireland $2.5 million for electric vehicles for Vietnam $47,000 for a “transgender opera” in Colombia $32,000 for a “transgender comic book” in Peru $2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala $6 million to fund tourism in Egypt Hundreds of thousands of dollars for a non-profit linked to designated terrorist organizations — even AFTER an inspector general launched an investigation Millions to EcoHealth Alliance — which was involved in research at the Wuhan lab “Hundreds of thousands of meals that went to al Qaeda-affiliated fighters in Syria” Funding to print “personalized” contraceptives birth control devices in developing countries Hundreds of millions of dollars to fund “irrigation canals, farming equipment, and even fertilizer used to support the unprecedented poppy cultivation and heroin production in Afghanistan,” benefiting the Taliban The list literally goes on and on — and it has all been happening for decades. https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/02/at-usaid-waste-and-abuse-runs-deep/

  25. It was rhetorical, meaning that no one with any authority to make such promises made them It sounds like you're saying that Gorbachev was a sucker for believing the West's assurances that NATO wouldn't expand east of Germany. At this point, I think that Putin also feels like a sucker for believing that the west was really serious about the Ukraine Minsk agreements. The President of Belarus said in 2023 that Russia should have started its military operation in Ukraine back in 2014, back when the U.S. conspired with far right elements to remove the elected Ukrainian President from power: https://www.rt.com/russia/577303-lukashenko-belarus-ukraine-operation/ I think he's mistaken- I think it's good that Putin waited as long as he did, as it made the West's pernicious influence in Ukraine all the more obvious.

  26. Ridiculous that this question has been going on and on and on here. There are TWO main parts to sexulality, the genitals and the brain. There are male and female genitals (ignoring the extreme outliers). There are male and female brains (much more complex and ambiguous). They are NOT always synchronized when developing in the womb because they develop at different times and one is more sensitive to epigenetics (brain) than than the other. The FACT is, individuals DECIDE which identity feels comfortable to them, and it's no one else's business.

  28. Russia left East Germany in return for guarantees that NATO wouldn't move 1 inch past Germany. The US and other major NATO countries' representatives made the same assurances. NATO broke their part of the bargain long before Russia did. True. However, robosmith wasn't talking about NATO expansion in the post you're responding to, but the Budapest Memorandum. From what I've read, the U.S. broke the Budapest agreement back in 2014. An introduction to the Budapest Memorandum, from Wikipedia's page on the subject: ** The Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances comprises three substantially identical political agreements signed at the OSCE conference in Budapest, Hungary, on 5 December 1994, to provide security assurances by its signatories relating to the accession of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The three memoranda were originally signed by three nuclear powers: Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom.[1] China and France gave somewhat weaker individual assurances in separate documents.[2] The memoranda, signed in Patria Hall at the Budapest Convention Center with U.S. Ambassador Donald M. Blinken amongst others in attendance,[3] prohibited Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom from threatening or using military force or economic coercion against Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, "except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations." As a result of other agreements and the memorandum, between 1993 and 1996, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine gave up their nuclear weapons.[4][5] ** From the same article, the first of the Memorandum's points was: ** Respect the signatory's independence and sovereignty in the existing borders (in accordance with the principles of the CSCE Final Act).[7] ** The United States broke this agreement when it played a crucial role in the overthrow Victor Yanukovych, who had been the elected President of Ukraine in 2014. A good article on the United States' role in Yanukovych's overthrow can be seen here: https://off-guardian.org/2022/02/24/timeline-euromaidan-the-original-ukraine-crisis/

  29. No formal deals were made by anyone with power to make them that said NATO would never move an inch to the East. I think you're essentially agreeing with Nationalist, which is basically that if an official agreement isn't made, the United States can't be trusted. As I pointed out in my previous post, the U.S. can't even be trusted if it makes formal deals: https://qz.com/1273510/all-the-international-agreements-the-us-has-broken-before-the-iran-deal I think it's become apparent that the only thing the U.S. respects is military prowess, so Russia is obliging in that regard.
    1 point
  30. In other words, you're saying that the United States isn't to be trusted unless a formal agreement is made. Reminds me of a movie starring Tom Cruise wherein he's assured that someone's word is "strong as an oak", only to have that word broken later. The truth is, the U.S. can't even be trusted if it makes formal agreements: https://qz.com/1273510/all-the-international-agreements-the-us-has-broken-before-the-iran-deal

  32. I will trust the American press far more than Estonian which is dominated by Russia, which has EVERY INCENTIVE to cast the blame on America. Off Guardian is a British Publication, not Estonian. I suspect you're thinking of a different passage from Kit Knightly's article that I've quoted previously. It mentions nothing of the Estonian press, but -does- mention the Estonian government. Quoting: ** MARCH [2014] Evidence emerges that the snipers shooting at the crowds were not employed by the Ukrainian government, but were shooting at both sides in an effort to stoke chaos. This evidence is presented to the EU’s Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton by Estonia Foreign Minister Urmas Paet in a phone call that is later leaked to the press, and confirmed to be genuine by the Estonian government. Neither the EU, nor the new government of Ukraine, makes any effort to investigate this evidence or bring the killers to justice. ** Source: https://off-guardian.org/2022/02/24/timeline-euromaidan-the-original-ukraine-crisis/ If you click on the 2 embedded links, you'll see that the first one is now dead, but the second one actually leads to an article from a mainstream British publication. Quoting: ** Estonian Foreign Ministry confirms authenticity of leaked phone call discussing how Kiev snipers who shot protesters were possibly hired by Ukraine's new leaders Leaked phone call suggests anti-government protesters hired the snipers Call between EU's foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton and Estonia's foreign affairs minister Urmas Paet Paet appears to claim opposition leaders hired the snipers that killed 94 By JOHN HALL Published: 13:14 EST, 5 March 2014 | Updated: 04:28 EST, 6 March 2014 Estonia has confirmed the authenticity of a leaked telephone call between its foreign minister and an EU chief which suggested the sniper killings in Ukraine last month were ordered by the new coalition. The 11-minute call between the EU's foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton and her Estonian counterpart Urmas Paet was made on February 25 in the aftermath of the massacre. During the call, Paet claims a doctor told him both protesters and police were shot by snipers during clashes in Kiev allegedly on the orders of the opposition. ** I think it's worth pointing out that the Estonian government, while confirming that the leaked call was genuine, tried to say that what was said wasn't actually said. Continuing from John Hall's Daily Mail article: ** But while the Baltic state acknowledged the audio was genuine, it denied that it had blamed opponents of Ukraine's deposed president for sniper killings during last month's unrest. ** So, as I asked you before, why do think the EU and the Ukrainian government were so disintereted in investigating this evidence? As I also wrote in the past, this UK Daily Mail article wasn't the only article that strongly suggested that Yanukovych's government wasn't behind the killings. An article from Global Research also did that, citing an Italian documentary that interviewed 3 snipers of Georgian nationality who claimed to have participated in the massacre. That article can be seen here: https://www.globalresearch.ca/the-hidden-truth-about-ukraine-italian-documentary-bombshell-evidence-kiev-euromaidan-snipers-kill-demonstrators/5619684

  33. We've seen this so many times, they insist we shouldn't talk about things then demand to know why we're talking about things and then get mad when we talk about the things. I think someone has a bit of a repressed issue or two to deal with. But it's not even just this, I pointed out dozens of times that whenever Mike sees a subject he doesn't like immediately posts a version of "Why are we even talking about this". It's like this weird trick the left has whereby if they don't like something they say we shouldn't talk about it and then anyone that talks about it to disagree with them is a terrible person

  37. Cartels, be it Mexican, Venezuelan, Columbian etc are thriving in all countries of the world. The issue with drugs into Canada are minuscule when compared to getting into Florida alone. Yes, Canada can tighten the borders but really, Canada has customers for the products and we even give it away for free and provide safe places to take them. I would not jump only on the liberal....Harper had the same problems and don't do anything either. All the political leaders are now saying they will do something under the threat of Trump but Trump has a far larger issue with drug infestation. Trump is hiding his illegal alien problem with threats against Canada and supposed drug infiltration. Most of the drugs (or components of the drugs) come form China and India. We assemble the drugs right here already. In my opinion, drugs is a red herring for Trump and illegal immigrants is the real issue.
