Politico has a good tracker that gives a brief blurb and job description for each position. I like how Trump is going to a cabinet full of people that are DC outsiders.3 points

Actually robo would have preferred if you used Fox as the source this time, because he doesn't want it to be true (lefty logic, don't ask).3 points

At the end of the day while I have absolutely no doubt that elon will be able to find massive amounts of redundant or unnecessary spending, you have to be very careful about pulling the plug on too much government spending all at the same time. It can have a vicious shock to the market but causes a disproportionate downward effect on the regular private market. But if they can identify the waste and eliminate it over a set time starting with the least harmful first Then they might do a lot of good and significantly help trump whittle away at that deficit3 points
-
You realize if that starts becoming a regular thing for you the market shares in preparation H are going to nose dive and it will be your fault Reviewing government spending for waste is anti-democratic? What planet are you living on? I realize that sometimes it may seem like the purpose of government is to waste money but that's not actually really a thing3 points

What's even more cute is you guys pretending that illegal immigration doesn't exist. lol "Lawfare" is very much alive and it's being used to this very day. For example, NY's AG made her campaign about Donald Trump - how she was going to GET Donald Trump - she practically shouted it on the rooftops. Now how in the hell is ANYONE supposed to believe that a fat piece of shit will bring justice when the man hasn't even been convicted yet? Our side gets it wrong from time to time, but your side nearly ALWAYS gets it wrong. The Republican party is ALWAYS the lesser of two evils.2 points

This used to be called a spoils government and was typical of America in the 1800’s. The term was used particularly in politics of the United States, where the federal government operated on a spoils system until the Pendleton Act was passed in 1883 due to a civil service reform movement. Thereafter the spoils system was largely replaced by nonpartisan merit at the federal level of the United States. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoils_system Republicans want more than just loyalty to Trump they want a right wing civil service that will be loyal to the Republican Party and conservative values for years to come beyond Trump.2 points

lol, Twitter is now completely unusable in large part because of the spambots. As for fake engagement, now any dolt can send Elon $8 to get their garbage boosted to the top of everyone's feed. The shadowban thing is absolutely fake, conservatives simply can't handle the idea that their posts suck shit so they think there's some conspiracy against them. Finally, Twitter's shift to being an explicitly right wing platform is killing its user base. They lost something like 3 million users in the UK and we're seeing a similar exodus in North American users.2 points

Musk got rid of fake "like" bots and shadow-bans - that Twitter used to make leftard platitudes seem popular while simultaneously downplaying conservative counterpoints - and pulled Twitter out of TNI, which ended the left's monopoly on social media. Leftist leaders are still furious about it. Their cultists were all supposed to abandon Twitter immediately, but they don't all understand what's up. Re: bots and shadow-bans... When a dolt like AOC went on Twitter to say "Trump iz poopy" it would quickly start to compile fake likes from Twitter bots, and it would get a high priority in everyone's Twitter feed. By contrast, an intelligent and factual Tweet from a conservative would be shadow-banned, so that very few people would see it. Musk is a hero of free speech and an enemy of the left's unholy control over social media, which equated to a modern day book-burning campaign. You are required to deny all that as a condition of retaining your cult status, dog.2 points

In just two years Musk has made Twitter so "efficient" that it's lost 80% of its value. Who wouldn't want to bring that kind of success to the government!2 points

The point is to gut the federal civil service, destroying entire departments and replacing thousands of civil service workers with ideologically motivated political hacks loyal to Trump.2 points

The irony in that would be absolutely astonishing coming from the current president, in the state that he's in. Joey B: "It has come to our uhhh intention that you uhhh, might be too old to do the serpine port thing anymore. Huh? Oh, surprine, serrr, suuhh... You know, the thing with the robes an' stuff! You are just way older than you should be right now. That's not a job where you can just read from a teluhhprommer. Go take some naps now. Really nice naps. And you didn't even lock up Trump ya dog-faced pony soldier. Skidaddle! Git!"2 points

It would make sense. The US had moderate success with reducing his elderly population when it canceled Matlock in 1995, after which many older citizens simply gave up the will to live. However that didn't go anywhere near far enough to significantly alleviate the Boomer strain on social services. The idea was floated in the early 2000's of strategically placing a number of Country inn family restaurants at the bottom of cliffs with a sign at the top announcing early bird specials with an arrow pointing down. While initial testing found this to be effective, focus groups revealed that the public may eventually cotton on and complain. Shortly after the segway was introduced to the market, giving mobility challenged people an exciting new way to get hit by cars. Special grants and enticements for the elderly were offered and the results were impressive, but complaints from auto insurers caused the program to shut down. Of course we all remember when Apple maps was found to "accidentally" contain errors that lead many of the less tech savvy elderly to wind up stuck in the middle of no where, drive off of bridges that no longer existed, and sending them in circles in roundabouts till they ran out of food. The introduction of roller blades and "heelys" took a surprising number of them for reasons that have yet to be explained, but still. But nothing had the desired wide scale impact that Covid had. When you think about it, it was the next logical progression.2 points

responds with yet another dimwit MAGA response. No I once admired the USA that could desegregate, fight a war on (what they thought was) Communism singlehandedly and go to the Moon all at the same time. Now after a national brainfart in 2016 they overflowed their diaper and like you stand proudly grinning and thinking they proved something. From the defenders of Democracy to somewhere between Dumbocracy and Idiocracy in only 50 years. Maybe you can celebrate Jan 6th by toppling the Statue of Liberty just to own the libs.2 points

The government's incompetence...it's on display at the start of every single work day around here. To me this is particularily emblematic. https://weather.gc.ca/marine/forecast_e.html?mapID=02&siteID=04804 It's been like this since the end of Sept on the west coast. It took them three weeks to post the above notice on the webpage. For years it seems there's also always a number of offshore weather buoys either offline or giving incomplete reports. There's Windy and other forecasting apps but when it comes to the inquiry following a weather related accident it's the official weather texts that will guide the inquiry - Transport Canada is still pretty old-school about this stuff. It took them years to get their heads around GPS and plotters - I mean, what if the satellites fall out of the sky right? I haven't thrown the dividers and parallel rulers out just yet but I haven't had to use them since I passed my certification exam. As for the weather...it's almost like the old days where you literally had to poke your nose out the harbour to see if it was worth it. I can't for the life of me understand what sort of technical issue would take more than a few hours to fix but here we are.1 point

I am starting to regret not voting for Micharl Hardner. Michael is the glue that binds this forum. Of all the Trump loving hyenas, Michael is one of the rare articulate and rational forum members. There is a reason he is affectionately referred to as "Uncle Michael."1 point

Is that what 3 means? There is zero evidence Hitler wanted to rule Europe. In fact you can easily prove he didn't. After conquering france, he didn't even absorb it. He just set up Vichy france. That is exactly what I said and you are talking in circles now.1 point

Who's the forum villain from each side? Or your top 2 or 3... I don't want to put an anonymous poll here because I think that's BS. If you lack the moxie to state your opinion that's fine, sit this one out. Leftist Forum Villains honourable mentions: @BeaverFever: He's the leftist who will try to provide facts and cites to back his opinions way above and beyond what the common leftist rabble here will ever do. The average leftist post here contains 0.07 facts and cites to back even the most highly controversial opinions and serious slander, but Beave's average post contains several "cites" and "alleged facts", so I'll give credit where it's due. @Michael Hardner: We all know that he's as conservative as AOC's crotchless panties, but his "I'm a conservative from a middle-class family and my neighbour was a small business owner" story makes him stand out from the leftist crowd here. So whose dedication to the leftist causes has actually won them the most medals In North Korea? I vote @robosmith. To the rest of you... If you've been wearing Trudeau jammies to bed and screaming at clouds since Trump won, but your name wasn't mentioned above, my apologies, but that doesn't make you unique: lie harder next year. Robo worked damned hard for this. Now, from the leftists side, can you name one or more conservative "Forum villains" that stand out for you? Thanks in advance, every one of your tears is a feather in our caps.1 point

Yeah Elon took the same approach with Twitter and now its revenue is in the toilet and its userbase is shrinking because he fired all the "useless people" whose job was to make money for the company and actually made the UX decent. Again, the point isn't efficiency, it's ideology.1 point

Me too.... but that's a change for me. Me too... but not so much anymore. Previously, I would have argued in favour of her right to express it and against any consequence as severe as firing. I would have labeled it free speech whilst quietly fuming to myself and wiping her foul spittle off my collection of medals. Same thing with burning the flag. I don't like it but my revulsion is tempered by the notion that free speech has to extend to things I don't like in order to earn its name. But (and it's a huge honking but of a BUTT), she and other progressives have convinced me otherwise, and they worked hard at doing it, damned hard. In the end, it was their nastiness, toxicity, and ridicule that won the day. In the final analysis I could easily be persuaded to change back, I'm actually eager to do it, but for now I want them to suffer the same consequences they delighted inflicting on others.... at least until they cry. It's the quickest way through the storm IMO and if you cheered when your neighbours got fired, it serves as a lesson in what happens when humility and compassion leave the room. There it is. And it's likely her own (liberal progressive) standard of "words are violence" that she (and a few others recently) now find chewing on their own collective tails. I bet they didn't think that standard would ever be applied to them. That arrogance is at the heart of my shift in opinion, it only seems fair that the (preferred) progressive punishment of being outed, doxed, fired and having your kids harassed on the way to school should work both ways. There may be a lesson here: when treating others badly becomes SOP it's always good to look in the mirror and consider the unintended consequences being reflected back. I perceive that some in the US are doing that right now, and probably for the first time.1 point

Guilbeault accused of siphoning $254 million to his own company So it looks like our beloved environmental minister managed to score a quarter billion dollars from the green slush fund and stash it away for his retirement. The liberals are not there to run the country. They are not there to help the people. They are there to manipulate the government's system to squeeze every drop of juice they can out of it for their own pockets. People who voted for them or the NDP should be brutally ashamed of themselves. They have betrayed the interest of Canada1 point

Hmmm...Libbie villain. @robosmith would be the obvious choice but...is a simpleton capable of being a real villain? There's @BeaverFever. But he's become rather irregular here. Ya know...I'm gonna go with @Michael Hardner. Mike is a true villain because he professes to be conservative, yet consistently sides with the Libbies. To me, that's dirty pool. HOWEVER...I would like to give honourable mention to @myata. Yes, his brains are a plate of scrambled eggs but...he tries to damn hard.1 point
