  2. “Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) admitted Wednesday that he will not be supporting any solution for the border crisis because it could be beneficial for President Biden's poll numbers. As a bipartisan solution on the border seems to be imminent in the Senate, House Republicans' top priority is torpedoing any deal which might solve the issue, lest it give the Democratic President a win. "Let me tell you, I’m not willing to do too damn much right now to help a Democrat and to help Joe Biden’s approval rating," Troy Nehls told CNN.” So now we know why there’s a border crisis: The Republicans are maintaining it in order to make Biden look bad. They admit it. https://www.meidastouch.com/news/maga-republican-refuses-to-back-border-bill-because-it-could-help-bidens-poll-numbers https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/03/politics/senate-immigration-negotiations-congress/index.html

  3. Oh, I'm certain that Epstein knew or somehow associated with a lot of people who didn't know what was going on. I think it's pretty unlikely that Trump was one of those people. "I've known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life." So when he boards the "Lolita Express" and is surrounded by a gaggle of very young women who have no business being there, I think even Trump can put 2 and 2 together. Whether Trump partook or not I can't say (we know he's not above cheating on his wives, paying for sex and using women) but it's almost certain the wares were offered, don't you think? Mr. "locker room talk" surely chatted with Epstein about his hobby, don't you think? It seems pretty unlikely that Trump knew enough to nod and wink at Epstein's predilections in the public press while not understanding how far Epstein would go.

  6. Eh, these lucrative arrangements have been public knowledge for years. Republican voters didn't care about this transgression any more than they cared about the sexual assaults, the extortion, the insurrection, the fraud, or any of the other deplorable behavior. Trump is and always has been a corrupt con man. They're just into it. People without morals like people without morals.

  8. Yes, it's all very crazy. The idea that millions of people will believe lies about factual events without reason or evidence--or, in this case, contradicted by reason and evidence--is fascinating and terrifying. I keep wondering when the rational Republicans will get fed up with these kooks and tell them to shut up and sit down and let the grownups run the party like they used to. Or break away from a party that no longer represents anything that it used to.

  12. If only we had some facts on how immigration affects crime rates…. Oh wait, we do. And it’s great news! https://crdcn.ca/publication/immigration-and-crime-evidence-from-canada/ …new immigrants do not have a significant impact on the property crime rate, but with time spent in Canada, a 10% increase in the recent-immigrant share or established-immigrant share decreases the property crime rate by 2% to 3%. Neither underreporting to police nor the dilution of the criminal pool by the addition of law-abiding immigrants can fully explain the size of the estimates. This suggests that immigration has a spillover effect, such as changing neighbourhood characteristics, which reduces crime rates in the long run. Where do you get your crime stats for this assertion?

  13. The Unabridged Leftard Dictionary has a new entry: Insurrectionist: (noun) in-sur-ek-shun-ist One of the worst 'ists'. Call a someone that if they identify as a conservative and they're a big meanie, or if you dislike them a lot. An insurrectionist is an unarmed rioter who physically pushes police officers until their country capitulates (surrenders). Example of the word 'insurrectionist' in a sentence: "The seditious rioters gave the armed, armoured police officers a series of insurrectionist shoves, giving some of its leaders PTSD and forcing them to throw in the towel."

  14. Of course you could - you're not educated enough to know the difference (Ba da DING!!! You really do walk into these...) Lets see if you've got the anttention span to actually learn something - keep reading Seriously - read. Dig. Learn. THe info is out there. I realize not eveyone is as fast at this knid of stuff or as dedicated to learning it as i am but it really doesnt' take all THAT much time to at least see the issues. Where are the figures about what the gov't collected IN TOTAL from all sources for carbon tax? make sure they're complete. Now look at what they dished out. See the massive difference? And along that road you're going to run into the BO's report, and you'll realize other things like there's many hundreds of millons being charged in gst that's not part of their equasions. And if you're REALLY clever you'll notice it's a stacking tax ... which means that you pay for it more than once AND you pay for businesses to mark it up. Remember how grocery stores said that they still only make 3 percent mark up on their food goods? Did you realize the 3 percent was also being charged on their carbon tax costs which are ALSO being included in the food? Gov't doesn't get that money but YOU STILL PAY IT. And THEIR costs - which you pay mark up on - also includes carbon tax mark up from THEIR suppliers. Which they paid and then marked up and are now passing on to you If the gov't gave back every cent it took from you in carbon tax, you'd still have lost considerable money. And they don't - they don't come close for the vast majority of people. you HAVE to study this stuff at least a little. ALL GOV"TS EVERYWHERE pull this kind of crap if the public just blindly follows. Democracy REQUIRES that you use your brain and not trust what they say without reasonably verifying it,

I'm sorry but that's wrong - the CORRECT definition is that when it's a weather event or season that they feel suggests that they're right, then it's climate. if it's weather than refutes them or others say show's they're wrong, then it's just weather. Forest fires? Proof of climate change and global warming. Colder than usual Summer? that's just weather you !diot.

  18. Sigh - great. Now Herbie just spent the last 26 hours banging rocks together, says he saw a 'spark' with is proof of concept and is applying for a 10 million dollar grant to continue to develop his 'stone voltage' concept. Says it's also possible that it could be used as a source of ignition which will reduce carbon from producing matchsticks. Way to waste the taxpayer's money ya doof What you SHOULD have told them is you can get electricity from banging a rock against your HEAD. That wouldn't have reduced our carbon emissions in this country but stupid-emissions would have gone down at least. That greatly reduces global face-palming.

  19. Nooooooope. Let's set aside the insane conspiracy theory crap and your poor understanding of the word seditious and revisit Trump's speech. Transcript here Fairly early in the speech he instructed them to be peaceful, exactly one time. Then he spent an hour selling his rabid mob the same pack of election lies and framing the moment as an existential crisis: they had to act NOW to stop the steal and save their country. And he told them to march down to the Capitol and do that. He told them to fight 21 times. He told them that in cases of fraud, special rules apply, before finishing with: "And we fight. We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore. Our exciting adventures and boldest endeavors have not yet begun. My fellow Americans, for our movement, for our children, and for our beloved country. And I say this despite all that's happened. The best is yet to come. So we're going to, we're going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue..." You are so full of crap. You're the same shameless, spineless who twill ell us that it's fine for a president to pressure and threaten election officials to "find" him more votes. The same transparent liar that tells us it's fine for a president to extort foreign leaders for campaign favors. The same amoral creep who tell us it's no big deal if he boasts about sexual assault and complain when he's held accountable for exactly that behavior. Just fark off. Nobody is buying your bullshit.

  24. Well 'batteries' are our current form of energy storage but really when we're talking energy storage we have to think beyond that. For example - hydro dams are efficient energy storage - we can use gravity and water to store very large amounts of potential energy and use it when we need to. In that sense the lake behind a dam is a 'battery' of sorts. there's no doubt new energy creation models are important as well. The elusive plasma fusion, or some species of alternative renewable energy or the like. However they are working on energy storage solutions such as quantum batteries and the like which would allow us to make use of things like solar and wind far more effectively. I dont know - i guess it's whatever we manage to get working first

  25. Those incidents were totally RELATED. The riot disrupted the EC vote count which was plan B if Pence refused to do it himself by throwing out the legitimate slates of EC electors. The Constitution specifies that if the EC vote count on Jan 6th fails to reach a 270 vote majority, the election can be decided by a vote of House delegations. In the last election the number of Republican House delegations was greater than Democratic House delegations which would have thrown the election to Trump. Disrupting the EC vote count would have illegally initiated a contingent election to give the Presidency to Trump. If you were paying attention, you would have heard all about that plan. All decisions by Supreme Court justices are specified as "OPINIONS," which you MIGHT KNOW if you were an American. Duh

  26. Yeah - that was all complete bullsnark. (the article stuff i mean). There was no chance in the slightest of any meaningful or noticeable increase at the landfills. In fact -there have been a number of studies showing that cloth bags actually produce more carbon to make by far and wind up in the landfills as PERMANENT garbage as they tend to wear out relatively quickly. This was all just virtue signalling. Compostable plastics would actually have been a better choice environmentally. A bit of a knee jerk reaction i'm afraid. It's also been noted that the practice can be severely negative in times of pandemic or llness as most bacteria or virii can live on those multi use non woven polypropyline (most of the fabric-like bags we see now) for days. Another example of the gov't deciding that it would rather do SOMEthing than the right thing.

  31. Truth. I think Trudeau was largely trying to copy the Dems in the states for most of his time in office. They bought the software obama uses for elections, they mimicked the "Dehumanize" technique where everyone who disagrees is made to be less than human (oh they're nazi bigot misogynist evil transphobic homophobic deplorables. Where did we hear that before?) He also mimicked the democrat politics of division and intersectional coalition. Not to mention rampant and relaxed immigration. But it's probably the dehumanizing that's the worst. IF you don't agree with me i don't need to sit down and listen to your concerns - you're subhuman so you don't matter. What's that? Have concerns about what they're teaching your kids? Well we don't have to listen to chuds like you, you don't matter. What do you mean you want proof that the carbon tax is working? How dare a lesser being question the likes of us?!!? And the cbc - "Protesters we don't like are all funded by americans and russians (???) and are a threat to the gov't". IT's gotten pretty bad.

  32. This is the thing - trudeau positioned himself as an elitist from day one. He was all show and no substance. He was very clear that he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth (his words) and it was obvious to anyone he considered himself above the average person and that he looked down from on high to tell them how to live. And people who disagreed were scum. That has upset a LOT of younger people who very clearly now feel that he does not understand their situation, he cannot relate to them, he doesn't care. PP is sending a clear message that he does care, that he lives the same lives they do, that he and his wife had to earn what they've got, and that he thinks it's unfair that they can't thanks to what trudeau has done. That was also jack layton's message and it resonates like hell. I don't think that those kids are going to be excited about voting for an obvious and slightly pompous elite again any time soon, and that kind of rules out freeland AND carney.

  37. Lets be fair - even the perception of cheating will be enough if the systems are such that it cannot be easily refuted across the board. And that goes both ways - anyone who thinks for a moment that the dems won't "be certian" there was cheating or collusion or some damn thing if trump wins has not been paying attention to history. And as we've seen they're already willing to stretch laws and behavior to attack republicans if they feel the person isn't a legit candidate/president. Honestly - if the politicians cared about America they'd be working hard on some bipartisan changes to make sure next election nobody can blame the russians or mail in ballots or hanging chads or what the heck ever. There will always be SOME who believe it was 'rigged' but if you've got strong systems in place to prevent it then that's generally not an issue. Right now you could drive a truck through the holes in accountability for the elections.

If there was an overabundance of stable well-paying jobs in Canada; then why there never seems to be enough of those, or anywhere close to, for a broad-based, shared prosperity for those who are already here? 43. Repeating myself: If you READ the articles of secession written and passed by the legislatures of the Confederate states, particularly South Carolina and Mississippi, the very first sentence of each document states that the reason was slavery. THAT is what the secessionists formally said at the time of secession. Not Emancipation Proclamation. At the time of secession. Formally. Officially. It’s called a Primary Source. That trumps whatever revisionist nonsense you’ve been reading. To quote from one of them: ”Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery – the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product, which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth.” Given that fact, you cannot say that slavery was not the primary cause of the Civil War. It absolutely was.

  45. What revisionism? The war was about federal vs. state powers. While slavery was among those powers being fought over, it was not the primary reason until Lincoln made it so.
    1 point
  46. You're a loon. There is absolutely no question that the US civil war was about slavery--both explicitly and implicitly. All but one of the states that issued reasons for secession identified slavery as a primary justification. The Emancipation Proclamation wasn't issued until 2 years after the war began. Imagine, states take the time to write up articles explicitly explaining why they are seceding, and then 150 years later some uneducated internet jackasses decide to 'splain that "Nah, what they really meant was..."🤪 Sorry apologists for white supremacy, nobody is buying your revisionism.
