  1. Thing is, you don't know anything about the planning and use of election law that lawyers like John Eastman agreed were illegal, but were used anyway to attempt to overthrow the election. Have you figured out what a "contingent election" is yet? Here's a clue for you: it depends on failure to certify the EC vote on Jan 6th. Contingent Election of the President and Vice President by Congress: Perspectives and Contemporary Analysis Though I highly doubt you will even try to understand it.

  2. At least the C-17 and the new Sig pistols remain relevant and capable today and remain “best in class” (Sig-haters and critics notwithstanding). I doubt the same will be said of the MQ-9 in 2033. Even the Latvia mission might have ended by then. For domestic duties, while it may still be adequate for routine surveillance tasks, surely by then better options will be available, with better performance, battery power/zero emission etc. Usually the rationale for buying old tech is that it is available for immediate use, but for the life of me I just can’t get over deliberately buying old tech with a plan to implement it ten years from now.

  3. Democracy is only held together by people. If Milley and Pence and a few others were committed enough, Trump would have stayed in power despite losing. Jan 6 was absolutely crazy. Trump lost, plain and simple.

  4. Jeebus, apparently you are just plain dumb. Jack Smith didn't "give up," he charged Trump with multiple felonies. That's what the trial--one of many--will be for. And Trump absolutely did the things he's accused of doing. The only question is whether a jury will be convinced of the criminality of those actions and hold him accountable.

  5. Laffer is largely discredited at this point. His theories were questionable to begin with, but when put into practice the experiment was objectively a failure. It failed again when W tried it. Like most religions, faith in the universal goodness of tax cuts went unrewarded. Reagan didn't grow revenues with tax cuts, as Laffer proposed. Taxes were cut dramatically and net revenue fell. And the economic growth came from both natural recovery and from massive deficit spending and debt accumulation. But, yes, GDP was up. And yes, there were new jobs--which is important, since now every family needs two of them to make ends meet. The "middle class" isn't a naturally occurring phenomenon. For the vast majority of history there was a small aristocracy, a slightly larger merchant/professional class, and everyone else peasants, paupers and serfs. America was the "land of opportunity" because it was untouched by European hands, a nation overflowing with land and resources. But in a property ownership society, how do you build and maintain a middle class after all the land and resources have been claimed? It doesn't take much--just some modest worker protections, a mildly defensive trade policy and a serious progressive tax scale. In the generation after the New Deal they had a good recipe to grow the middle class. The social policy sucked, but economically, that was the heyday of the white picket fence American dream. Reaganomics was a massive positive for China, but here at home income inequality has exploded and the middle class has become grist in the mill of economic pressures. Even the rise of the "knowledge worker" hasn't been enough to offset those changes (though it's critical to international competitiveness). Anyway, if you want a home for every family and a chicken in every pot, the 80s aren't your economic model. If you want a massive working class--struggling class--and a big lottery in which some will become unfathomably wealthy, Reagan's your guy.

  6. I don’t know, but if the Supreme Court accedes to Trump’s wishes and says he has absolute immunity from all criminal prosecution for acts committed while President… I hope Biden says, “Fine by me!!!” And then tosses Trump in prison without trial. Cause if Trump has immunity, so does Biden, right? But that could never happen, right?

  7. "The Trudeau Liberals have spent $4.7 billion on their Middle East action plan, tackling extremism but also building “post-conflict strategies,” Hussen said." "What in the actual holy hell is this????” one person asked on X. “Canadian taxpayers are supporting everyone in the world except Canadians. While food banks are feeding Canadian families, these traitors are giving our money to other countries like there’s no tomorrow. This is treason.” Another commented, “Canadians (those fortunate enough to have decent jobs) work their asses off & send half their earnings to Ottawa so they can … give it away to Iraqis? We need to focus on Canadian youth, not foreign students and not those who have no connection at all to this country. What a mess!” In another reply, a user posted, “That’s the Iraqi government’s problem, not the Canadian taxpayers’ problem.” Trudeau and the Liberals are squandering taxpayer money on everything imaginable under the sun. Billions of dollars have been spent on the so-called Middle East action plan. Canadians have no say in all this. Yet the health care system is failing, there is an acute housing shortage, and they are bringing in 500,000 immigrants in the next year and thereafter. 8. Just look, no need to go far. Folks are pretty fed up with pompous prolific talkers that this generation of Liberals appears to be. Quite understandably. But what is the fix, the alternative? We "vote", the other bunch gets 41% and all of a sudden, it's a "landslide". You came to h-te this full of self face here so you just have to love that other one, there. Right? Makes sense? But wait, there's more. They'll take that "landslide" 41%, in a normal political system not enough to form a government why would it, not a majority and not even close and push it down your throat like you prayed and danced for everything they say, enthusiastically. Not because you were bored and disappointed with the other guy, no. Because all of a sudden you developed a deep and trusting affair with them, handing them you checkbook, and keys to the future. That's how they will see it, and no other way. This is how they made this cute system for themselves, over the decades and centuries. You thought that supporting principles and justice was important? Forget it. Not our business, you voted. You thought that lying for lying, and power sake is wrong? Forget it. The lying Clown possibly soon, convicted felon is our best friend. You thought that the state has no business in ideology? No, it has to be the right kind of ideology. This house of cards pseudo democracy is becoming more dangerous by the day. And there will be no miracles. That much you know.

  9. Explain in simple English; in a sentence or two, what the January 6 rioters were set to accomplish by attacking the U.S. Capitol, and breaking into the House and Senate by force during the counting of the Electoral College votes? If the result were that Donald Trump remained power past January 20, that would mean overthrowing the government.

  10. Eyeball you have made it very clear who you support, I'm not putting words in your mouth...you've chosen Palestine, who want nothing to do with peace....they want the entire area including the area that is currently Israel...Israel has offered a 2 state proposal on many occasions all have been refused by those governing Palestine.... I'll write slow here...Palestinian people don't want peace with Israel until they are destroyed...THERE WILL BE NO peace...So while you throw your support behind a terrorist state and it's people you also don't want peace.... This hate is already generations old...it will not stop until one side is destroyed...Have you seen what hamas teaches it's children in schools...they laugh in your face , they will not accept anything but Israel's destruction....Israel is not going to curl up into a ball and die...it will defend itself even if it means every last Palestinian dies... I did not truly understand the word "hate" until i spent 8 months in Israel, both sides HATE each other, not dislike but HATE to the point where killing each other is the only option...for most of the population on both sides...every man/ women in the police, security force and army carry military weapons' every where they go, to work, on the busses , going to the bank, the store, every where....the country is constantly at a state of war....There is no line in the sand to cross, but rather a 6 foot deep trench....

  12. Also - be sure to ask about Police unions whenever you discuss labour with anti-union types. You'll see a little whaff of smoke emanating from their ears after a few minutes. Police Unions saw massive salary increases over the decades. They'll tell you it's because they're under constant danger, as shown in TV shows... but try to tell them that fishing is a more dangerous job.... go ahead... try....

  13. Of course the Jan 6 rioters intended to overthrow the government, Dummy. That's exactly what Trump told them to do. The final conclusion to that rambling, incoherent, lie-filled screed (sounds a lot like you, actually, with his string of silly, false grievances) was that they would all march down to the Capitol, fight like hell and "stop the steal" or they wouldn't have a country anymore. He said all that specifically in reference to the vote certification. The crowd understood exactly what he meant. They've testified to it in court. Many of them are on video talking about their "1776 moment." They certainly expressed intent to harm Pence and Pelosi before they stormed the Capitol to get at those lawmakers. It was a crowd full of stupid people who are easily manipulated. It really doesn't matter whether or not you think the fools had any chance of success. The fact is that they acted on Trumps urging, and acted with intent. There isn't a law against insurrections that have a likelihood of success greater than X%. There is simply a law against insurrection.

  14. A weapon is a weapon, and the insurrectionists did bring weapons. They brought spears, brass knuckles, bear spray, and other implements, and they then used other implements they found to cause more injury. I don’t know how many of them carried guns. Doesn’t matter; they brought weapons, clearly. “US Capitol Police Sgt. Aquilino Gonell testified that "(c)ommon things were used as weapons, like a baseball bat, a hockey stick, a rebar, a flagpole -- including the American flag -- pepper spray, bear spray." “ ”Rioters also used knives, stolen police shields, a stun gun, fire extinguisher and more. Hand-to-hand combat led to more than a dozen officers being sent to the hospital, some of whom had bone fractures and concussions. At least three have been charged with bringing guns onto the Capitol grounds.” Guy Reffitt, Christopher Alberts, and Mark Ibrahim are the names of those charged for bringing guns. Lonnie Coffman was sentenced for four years for bringing loaded guns and a dozen Molotov cocktails and other explosives. https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/pr/alabama-man-sentenced-46-months-prison-firearms-offenses-district-columbia-and-alabama

  18. If someone smashes your head with a fire extinguisher, that’s assault with a deadly weapon. If someone spears you with a flagpole tipped with a blade, it’s attempted murder. If someone squirts bear spray into your face, it’s assault with a deadly weapon. So you’re not telling the truth when you say these people were unarmed, and given all their violence, there was no way to tell whether they were going to start firing guns or not.

  19. What is the new tech, is it being developed and who is doing it? Is there a replacement for the MQ-9 in development and how long would we have to wait until it is. Some designs just have very long operational lives and are capable of being continually upgraded, B-52, C-130, U2, F-15, F-16, Harrier etc. A drawback to getting the latest is always having to deal with its teething problems and continual updates. One of the upsides of dithering so long on the F-35 purchase is we will be getting the latest Block 4 model which is far more capable than earlier versions and avoid many of its early problems. The price has also come down.

Healthcare is in a permanent crisis as half of the departments. Is this state compatible with being a top-tier modern democracy? Can't argue with a picture book. No interest either. And no apologies.

  30. Cute, but you can’t point out how the organization that coordinated the rally directly with Donald Trump applied for a permit and lied on the application so as to reduce security at the Capitol. They clearly knew there would be a march to the Capitol, they said so, they said they were informed by the White House and they told one another not to mention it to the National Park Service. Sounds like a conspiracy to me. Sounds like premeditation to me. As for Ashli Babbit, my own opinion is that the Capitol Police did not do their job on January 6. Those Congressmen and women came very close to being attacked and killed, and the Capitol Police should have broken out the automatic weapons and mowed those rioters down until they ran wee wee wee all the way home.

  31. A great website to go visit is Mark Marano's alternative news website called Climate Depot. There, one will get the other side of the story that the climate crisis screwballs like Al Gore and Leonardo Decrapio do not want the rest of the world to hear or know about. Marano takes on all of those climate change crisis buffoons. I still look out my window every day and i never see any climate change crisis happening. Just the same old-same old. If the glaciers are melting then it is no doubt due to something else rather than it being a man made created problem. But unlike those alarmists fools out there, i refuse to get all worried and concerned over what i like to call the new Covid story #2 bullshit. All it takes is for the lying and fake MSM to start to get the gullible out there to believe that their is a climate crisis happening and a whole lot of them crazies out there will go scary on themselves and will believe that the world will end if we do not stop eating meat or driving fossil fuel vehicles. And let us not forget about those terrible cow farts. Such silly and ridiculous nonsense indeed. Just another excuse to try and get rid of cows and get us to start eating bugs instead. Like phuk i will eat bugs. Why do so many people out there keep listening to the MSM? ?

  34. In a rare showing of intelligence and balls, Trudeau actually said something worthwhile for once, and I'm going to share it here: I don't think that his comments really tell the full story there, but it's impossible for anyone on either side to mount a meaningful counter-argument against what he said, and if the leader of your country is going to babble on the international stage, that's how you'd want them to do it. I am a bit concerned that his stance makes room for the farcical belief that there are a lot of Palestinians who are reasonable enough to make lasting peace with Israel, and especially worried that he might think some of them are decent candidates for re-settling here, but I'm still conceding the fact that Trudeau gets to do a well-deserved victory lap IMO.

In recent media coverage, this quarter alone Canada let in 405,000 people... yes it is the highest quarter ever, but why do people think this is sustainable...if our highest home building numbers are half of that for a full year...even a grade 3 math student can tell you it is not sustainable....demand is always going to outstrip supply and housing will continue to spiral out of control...What we need is some common sense to be applied...and i don't see it from the liberals or the NDP, shit i barely see it from the conservatives...

  36. Front normally consists of 3 or more corps( Canada has never had a front size formation in it's history) Corps normally consists of 2 or more Divisions...(we have not had these numbers since WWII) Division normally consists of 2 to 3 Brigade groups, surpassing at times 25,000 troops plus ATTachements and DETchments. (currently Canada does use divisions to denote its regions, like (Atlantic, Central, Western), however we do not have the troop strength to make anything but one under strength Division, Brigade group can be anywhere from 4000 to 10,000 troops , 4 Brigade group Germany was 7500 troops, plus 2000 support troops....normally can be split into x 2 battle groups, normally x 3 Inf Bn's, Armor Regt, Arty Regt, Combat Eng Regt, Field Amb, svc bn, HQ and Sigs Regt, Utility Helo sqn, and ATS and DETS, if any like MP support, etc.... Battle group is the Smallest fighting organization used by NATO command, normally between 1500 to 2500 troops...normally a full Inf BN, with tank troop or sqn and some arty support, like Afghanistan. Anything smaller is normally a unit responsibility. likely a Attachment, detachment or patrol, etc... From what i here across the Royal Regiment, things are gloomy, with very little funding for training, soldiers get bored and start to leave...in this case by the droves, more are getting out than are being recruited... CDS says publicly that he is short 16,000 troops those numbers are a year old, NAVY commander recently said he is short a full 20 % of his numbers and soon will not be able to man all his ships...he use to have 20 % over age to maintain things like courses, holidays births etc...Im sure the Air Force are in the same shape, the Army is even worse...you can't have A type personalities sitting around doing nothing...they will find another Career, and thats what is happening...and is happening is the good ones leave and it dilutes the quality, and experience of soldiers you need to sustain operations, and bring home others home safely from operations...WWI frontal attacks were the norm, proving costly to lives, near the mid to end of the war other tactics were invented and saved lives...which is why it is so critical to constantly train, train, train...when i first joined we would train 8 months out of the year was the norm...sometimes more...today they might get 2 to 3 months of training for the entire year...if your going on operations, if your not that number of training months gets very small... I get that but if your talking artic/ Ocean patrol , it has the legs you need, want to engage something send a fighter...

  37. Coordinated. Turns out, new evidence proves there was premediation and coordination between Donald Trump, White House Staff, and the Women for America First group, who applied for the rally permits for January 6. Jan. 6 Rally Organizers Lied About Plan to March to the Capitol, Report Finds Women for America First, which planned the rally on the Ellipse, knew of President Donald J. Trump’s plans to have his supporters march to the Capitol but repeatedly denied it to federal permitting officials. A pro-Trump group that organized the “Save America” rally in Washington on Jan. 6, 2021, lied to federal officials about President Donald J. Trump’s plans to call on the crowd to march to the Capitol, where the protest over his election loss turned into a violent riot, according to a new inspector general investigation. The report found that Women for America First, which organized a rally at the Ellipse about two miles from the Capitol on Jan. 6, “intentionally failed to disclose information” to the National Park Service “during the permitting process regarding a march to the U.S. Capitol.” According to the investigation, Women for America First, which is run by Amy and Kylie Jane Kremer, a conservative mother-and-daughter team, repeatedly told Park Service officials there would be no march to the Capitol while privately planning for one. When shown private text messages indicating there would be a march, a park ranger involved in the permitting process told investigators it “bl[ew her] mind,” the report said. The Park Service had repeatedly asked Women for America First whether there would be a march, and the organization “was just adamant there was gonna be no march.” A White House liaison to the rally organizers sent a text message on Jan. 3 to Women for America First regarding a demonstration at the Ellipse. “POTUS expectations are intimate and then send everyone over to the Capitol,” the message said, according to the report. On Jan. 4, Kylie Jane Kremer wrote in a text message: “POTUS is going to have us march there/the Capitol.” She added: “It can also not get out about the march because I will be in trouble with the National Park Service and all the agencies, but POTUS is going to just call for it ‘unexpectedly.’” On Dec. 29, 2020, the group initially sought the permit for the Jan. 6 rally at the Ellipse and “repeatedly” stated there would not be a march to the Capitol, the report said. The permit issued stated that it “does not authorize a march from the Ellipse” and that the organization would “not conduct an organized march from the Ellipse at the conclusion of the rally.”

Reaper would be an excellent tool for things like convoy escort, like in Afghanistan...or for or for patrolling the borders LATVIA, or over any battle field, or spec ops operations... it will get used, and I'm sure the Air force will be eager to get another opportunity to get out of the hanger... Drones are the future in many Airforce future ops we should be getting on board faster than we are.

  39. Of course they did. That's not really debatable, even. They shifted favor to capital over labor, dramatically cutting taxes on the rich while busting unions, deregulating, unwinding the "New Deal" and eliminating economic protections--again, to benefit the wealthy. All of this was done based on the argument they the wealth would "trickle down" from the wealthy to everyone else. Of course, that was always a bogus idea. GHWB called it "Voodoo economics" and he was right. What actually-and predictably-happened is that the wealth did not "trickle down." Instead, income inequality exploded as we turned millionaires into billionaires and the middle class into the working poor. Literally everything you complain about economically is traced back to those policy shifts. Instead of making things here, capital sought cheap labor abroad. Instead of building things, we consume things others built. Instead of one person being able to support a family with a manufacturing job, out takes two adults working at Wal Mart. That's the weirdest thing about modern conservativism. It's a near-religious belief in the Reagan dogma. Rather than looking at the actual effects of the supply-side experiment, they complain about the outcomes and propose to"fix" them by doing even more of the same things that caused them.

It doesn't invest because 1) we have too many protected oligopolies, 2) governments are in the habit of rescuing incompetent businesses rather than letting creative destruction do away with them, and 3) business has come to rely on a continuing stream of cheap labour, either from heavy immigration or from that plus the temporary foreign worker programs (including foreign students).

  43. I'm afraid @taxme got you this time. Fact is that trump is even MORE likely to attack a judge where he believes he's innocent. He'll take it personally And has never been convicted of a crime. Being charged is meaningless. And really, if you know anything about law he's basically charged with 4 felonies, all the rest are 'secondary or tertiary' in relation to that. If the main charges don't stand up all the others crumble. It is no more reasonable to say "Trump is definitely guilty" than it is to say " Trump is guaranteed innocent of all crimes". He's been charged, that's it. He COULD possibly be guilty of some of the charges. He might not be. A court will have to look at that, and most likely another court will have to double check that courts work and see if there's any appeal, and THEN we'll have an answer. Unless he wins the next election of course - then all of this goes away.

  44. You are confused. Trump has been charged with 91 felonies in four different jurisdictions. We can list all 91 of the crimes if you want. Trump has obviously committed them. We can tell, because his defense strategy is to attack the judges and witnesses, claim absolute immunity, and file every frivolous motion under the sun. In other words, he knows damn well that he goes to jail if he faces trial, so he’s doing everything to avoid having to defend himself for the crimes he committed — because he knows that he cannot.
