  1. Comparing someone getting banned on facebook (when there are thousands of other outlets) to 1933 Germany when there were 2 or 3 outlets at most is comical.. Wow... the comedian strikes again. I am a realist who does not buy into hyperbole.. unlike you.

  4. I do not assume that all Christians are like this.. It simply taught me that you have to really get to know someone. Just finding out that they are religious does not by default tell you that they are moral, ethical, or any positive attribute. Conversely.. someone being atheist does not tell you the full story. Much like Christians.. you have to get to know them

  6. "Funny" enough, one of Hitler's greatest tactics was undermining the media but calling it, essentially, "fake news." Scapegoating and alienating groups of people like immigrants and the elite. Undermining the entire legitimacy of the republic. Attempting a coup--and running for election afterward. Decrying globalism while staging a populist takeover of conservative politics. All part of his vision to Make Germany Great Again! And, of course, his most devoted followers believed they were supporting a savior rather than a monster. Hm...

  7. This is a bizarre defense. "YOUR CLAIM IS INVALID BECAUSE I"VE SEEN OTHER PEOPLE MAKE CLAIMS BEFORE". What? How does THAT work? First off - it's quite possible for both sides to be wrong, and both sides to be correct, or any combination thereof. So you'd still have to rely on the evidence provided by the person making the claim. Only after listening to the evidence presented can you: a - agree with the position b - disagree and note that the evidence is insufficent or present your own counter evidence, or c - decide you don't really care enough about it and wander off and have a couple of wobbly-pops. You can't just dismiss a claim because others may or may not have made similar claims which may or may not be correct.

  8. The US is not a true comp for early to mid-30's Germany either. It is laughable that you discount the different levels of technology. The reason that Hitler had such control over the media is that there was far fewer outlets. Wait.. no way. Oh... and the motivation behind doing so were 100% different from anything that you think that CNN does. Your obsession with CNN is both sad and comical. You have watched more CNN in the past month than I have my entire life.

  9. So by your logic.. no need to read the article when you can simply read the headline and blast away. I must be living the movie, "idiocracy".. next thing you will say is "Ow my Balls".

  10. Yes.. your entire schtick is a false equivalency. Your point is that they are one in the same and so we should be able to see the similarities and learn from it. Well.. when it is pointed out that they are more dissimilar than not and hence comparison made invalid.. you go apoplectic. The pride of Crappensburg state shows his worth again.

  11. You started it sparky If anyone's making people out your way look bad it's you Don't hate me just because i'm better at insults than you are. Sorry you're getting angry about it - i was finding it quite amusing. If you don't want to get 'demeaned' don't demean any more and you'll be fine. If you do then be prepared for others to demean you back And i can't imagine why you'd think anyone else anywhere in the country would care what someone like you thinks of them That would be like worrying what a beetle's opinion was when you stepped on it.

  12. the two situations are not even close to being the same. No matter how you spin it. The motivations and context are so dissimilar to make it silly. Hitler's method of eradicating his foes (jews, slavs, gays, all non-Aryans) is so different than what you describe..

  14. https://time.com/6325590/america-terrorist-movement-ku-klux-klan-history/ Even liberal Time magazine acknowledges that the KKK functioned as the military arm of the Democrat party: From https://www.newsweek.com/why-wont-joe-biden-repudiate-anti-semitic-democrats-opinion-1538639: Even though the Dems try/pretend to distance themselves from the KKK now, they are still allied with BLM and Antifa, which are both virulent anti-Semitic groups. Joe Biden: Prominent anti-Semites in the party include Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlab, Maxine Waters, Keith Ellison, James Clyburn, and Barack "Farrakhan's pal" Obama. Senator Byrd, the longest-serving Dem ever, used to be a Grand Cyclops. The Dems are absolutely rife with Anti-Semites, and openly anti-Semitic haters feature prominently at Dem conventions and rallies.

  15. Universities, these enclaves of socialism (financed by mom and dad) within our capitalist societies, are the foremost breeding grounds for the type of hatred that made gassing Jews fun for some people 80 years ago. These young, impressionable university students are so smart that they can listen to one side of the story for ten minutes and satisfy all their reasons for slaughtering an entire group of people. "We represent the religion of peace that oppressed other religions for 1,000 years across the whole ME and we want to slaughter Jews for them!" Now the Dems have a real problem on their hands, as their carefully cultivated bullshit narrative of "we are no longer affiliated with the KKK, and we are the only good people now, everyone else is a hideous racist" is out the window because they just can't keep a lid on their harsh anti-Semites. Just like when BLM was on a racist path of destruction, the vast majority of teh Dems are remaining silent about anti-Semitism while others of their ilk cheer it on. I'm honestly shocked how thin the veil of civilization really is after all this time. Nancy Pelosi (I can't even pretend that doltin' Joe is the leader of the Demonrats) is the new Lord of the Flies.

  18. I'm a fiscal conservative. I even voted for Kim Campbell. I've always been right of centre but this new populist conservatism is something which makes me quite uncomfortable and I find it increasingly difficult to identify with any party. But call me a liar, I'm getting used to it from the Trump cult. It's often the only response they have.

  19. Game, set, match... "It's "a CNN talking point" at best. Get it?"... your default response to everything that you disagree with. If you are so smart.. you would not always revert back to the same tired line. Even a minor leaguer would have more than one pitch.... you have no curveball, slider, changeup... just a fastball down the middle of the plate that any respectable player can hit out of the park. Advice... try something new.

  20. Full agreement from me. There is no danger from the American left. Very different goals. Very different tactics. Very different effects. Pluralism, multiculturalism, tolerance etc. These are just ignorant people on the internet shouting "Nazi" with no understanding of what that means. Even the American right has (mostly) different aims and objectives-they desire different outcomes. But the tactics are awfully familiar. That's sort of the irony of the whole thread. As they lose more and more popular support they are less and less interested in democratic principles. If only they can consolidate power in other ways, they think, then they can force change upon us--for our own good, of course.

  21. Blah, blah, blah. I plainly stated where America is on the spectrum between actual democracy and full-blown fascist state. I never said that they were intent on another holocaust. You just think that saying "THERE HASN'T BEEN A HOLOCAUST YET!" proves that everything is 100% fine.

  25. I actually know a lot about this for reasons I can’t share. You’re right that some education policies are set locally, but not provincial curriculum. Much can be adjusted at the provincial level, but activists have infiltrated the Ministry and most school boards.

  26. Yeah but how have the economies evolved? Ontario’s nominal GDP in 1989 was around $247Bn now it’s more than tripled to nearly $760Bn at the end of 2022. Whereas Sweden went from $218Bn to only $585B. It’s even worse for Finland who went from $188B to $280B, which is less than a growth of 1.5x One could argue that those Scandinavian countries are growing more efficiently on a per capita basis and that the numbers prove there are diminishing economic returns to population growth even if overall GDP growth increases. But then again Sweden and Finland are a generous welfare state where people who are financially disadvantaged or who encounter financially difficult times can access programs that ultimately allow them to contribute to the economy whereas in North America its much harder to escape those circumstances. Lastly: in the next few decades decades we will begin to witness the great dying of the baby boomers which will result a massive economic and demographic shift and the shortage housing crisis will begin the grave plot shortage crisis. We need new people and workers to replace them. Granted that doesn’t solve a bigger problem of who will replace the immigrants when they age but it buys a little time I think. As I understand, Scandinavia didn’t experience as much of a baby boom as we did due to a different experience in WW2 so perhaps they’re less concerned about the demographic time bomb we are facing.

  29. Yup. IMO there are a lot of black slaves to this day, but the shackles are in their minds. A lot of them are in jail, but to be honest, anyone who got sucked into believing that "There's no sense trying in school because crackaz will never hire you" will likely be tethered to the lowest rungs of the economic ladder for life. It's the Dems that push that message, along with Hollywood and the music industry. No one would hire a life coach that says "Everyone is out to get you. Cops just want to kill you - even the Uncle Tom black cops. Stop educating yourself and join a drug gang." Black kids get that message every day in music, movies, and from BLM and the demonrats. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy at some point.

  30. Are you honestly trying to deny that the KKK functioned as a Dem militia? P1 of a Google search: There's absolutely no doubt about the fact the KKK and the Dems were two peas in a pod. They might not have had a formal contract/constitution drawn up together and filed at a county courthouse somewhere, but they were absolutely partners in their early attacks on blacks and their violent attempts to prevent blacks from voting and gaining other civil rights. It's impossible for you to have grown up in the US and still not be aware of that unless you live within a propaganda bubble.

  32. That is a blatant lie. Hitler controlled the media and the message and people were expected to believe it. Hitler moved quickly to censor opponents and take control of all the media and use it for propaganda https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/the-press-in-the-third-reich He didn't say 'fake news' in the slightest. Gee - misusing the media to spread a false narrative... now which party does that remind me of? Sigh. Lefties always have to lie to try to make a point.

  33. Canada has been accepting people who don’t like the Western way of life or culture. It means that now we have a government, publicly funded broadcaster, and universities that are heavily influenced by anti-Canadian elements that refuse to call out terrorism. The result will be that Canada is no longer a trusted partner and poses a security threat to the US. Trump understood this and took a lot of flack for his attempted Muslim ban, but he was essentially trying to stave off cultural genocide of Christian America. Of course America’s constitution prevents religious discrimination. The irony is that the woke revolution is destroying traditional values and undermining families, and many Muslims oppose woke attitudes. Maybe the Muslims are the ones who will save Jude’s-Christian values here, because they won’t let their own traditional values be compromised generally. The problem is that we really don’t know who we’re letting in. We seem intent on undermining ourselves one way or another. Canada goes further than the US in shooting itself in the foot.

  35. Actually.. the opposite. I question everything and assume from the start that politicians are lying and their supporters are too zealous to ever have the ability to step back and see something for what it really it is... as opposed to what it should be. Sorry but the two consequences are not even close in severity. Being banned from facebook is nowhere near as punitive as to what they did in 1933 Germany. Today.. you are banned on facebook and you simply move on to one of thousands of other outlets.

  36. Yeah but that payout comes from the CMHC insurance all people have to pay when they have a cmhc mortgage. If you have less than 25 percent down (or whatever it is today) then you must buy cmhc mortgage insurance on it - and if there's a pay out it comes from that insurance, not the taxpayers.

  37. When it comes to Hitler.. here are the four essential reads. The first two give you his true intentions before politics muddled them. The second two show how he followed through with his intentions laid out in Mein Kempf 1. Mein Kempf by Adolf Hitler 2. zweites buch by Adolf Hilter (this was written at the end of his time) 3. The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William Shirer 4. The Meaning of Hitler by Sebastian Haffner

  39. The sheer amount of different aspects IMHO makes comparing modern America to Hitler-era Germany. Sure.. you can point out a few general similarities.. both land areas are occupied by humans and such. But when you really get into the nitty gritty of each situation.. they share almost nothing in common. Where it is most obvious is if you read the defacto manifesto of Naziism.. Mein Kempf and its distant cousin Zweites Buch. The words written by Hitler are not even close to what most modern day American/Canadian Liberals espouse. BTW... if you want examples of governments influencing the media/press... you could look at every nation at any point in time.

  41. Must you go out of your way to prove to everyone how stunned you are? Plasma is not 'hot' eh? That why you cut steel with it? The !diot opens his mouth with more intelligent discussion. As I said GOP congealing behind a fully indocrinated Bible thumper who is fully behind a conman with 90+ charges as the least objectionable candidate shows the total collapse of sanity among them. Far too many US voters are more concerned with what Church their politicians go to and who they sleep with than their policies and qualifications to hold office.

  45. We've had versions of this conversation several times before. You say there's no barrier, but then also point out the aggressions and disproportionate hardships you--and now your wife--have overcome but you made it. Which makes this the point at which I say "Thanks for helping to make my point." The possibility is not the same as the probability. Great that you overcame the systemic and cultural headwinds to achieve level of success with which you are happy. Just imagine how much further along you'd be if you worked just as hard while enjoying the tailwinds that are the "birthright" of every white male. Sure it's possible to finish a marathon if someone shackles you with 10 pound ankle weights, but you won't win, and a lot of people will give up long before the finish, because there's no winning a rigged race. All those things you and your wife have overcome isn't proof that there's no systemic and cultural bias. It's proof that there is. White privilege is very real. The patriarchy is very real. They are persistent and pernicious, and they reliably show up in the data.
