  1. I don't understand this myself. Part of me says that the people who say this must feel some shame that they can't deal with. Or maybe their view of their nation is no longer unassailable which bothers them.

  3. You think a 40% of the vote win by the Cons will cause a dramatic shift in attitudes toward conservatism in Canada, so much so that “the left” will suddenly become a minority and be shunned by these people and their new-found values? You certainly are optimistic.

  6. https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/don-martin-the-trudeau-tipping-point-is-within-sight-1.6292729 CTV news no less. We've seen a number of these 'gentle prod' pieces suggesting trudeau should step down in the last several months. I think the libs and their supporters realize trudeau is past his stale date and that this could really go bad next election with the CPC getting a decent majority. And PP scares them because he knows the game and the system well enough to actually dismantle a fair bit of their advantage while he's in power, and will probably win a second term. I don't think Trudeau's ego will let him step down. And if he's going to he really has to do it by the end of this year in order to give enough time for a proper leadership convention to be held and for the new leader to have time to prepare for the next election fully. So if they're going to talk him into it, it will need to be soon. I would imagine they'll be ratcheting up the pressure

  9. But specifically who is “pushing this narrative that white people must feel shame”? Teaching history is just teaching what happened. I think Americans should know how African Americans and Native Americans were treated. The only reason that should make a white person feel ashamed is if they harbored negative attitudes towards people of color… but they can change their attitude!

  11. Missed this. If you really don't think he's lost thousands of tanks and hundreds of aircraft or had dead soldiers - i'm afraid it's not me that's delusional The tanks and planes and gear is easy to verify and many independant sources agree with that. A dead tank tends to stick out, easy to count. There's little doubt. Same with planes, they tend to leave decent sized holes in the ground when they crash. I didn't even MENTION the warships that got sunk. I suppose you think that's western propaganda as well So there's just no debating that. It's childish to pretend otherwise. The casualty rates are another matter. They are almost certainly over estimated, bodies are easily removed and harder to count, and they tend to estimate on the high side. So they're estimating what like 130 thousand? Cut that in half and you're probably pretty darn close to the truth. Even the russians have noted their losses have been very heavy. So if you think that the russians have been getting pounded for a year with little to no losses or casualties .. LOL - give me a break

  16. well I think they are already there but as Stephen Kotkin says "Russian atrocities + Ukrainian valour = Western unity" Putin's plan was to break NATO but actually, he's achieved the opposite in the First Cold War, the left was vehemently opposed to confronting the Soviets but all of sudden, the dirty Hippies have become the Hawks America could have won the Vietnam War if that had happened in 1967 America won the Second World War because the left became the Hawks the left becoming the Hawks, is a nightmare scenario for the Kremlin

  20. I read your post fine. Your answers aren't honest and are polerized against conservatives. That is most often a liberal trait. NDP supporters also don't like conservatives but they tend to be more honest and upfront about it. What is the point in having a lengthy discussion if you don't intend to be honest about it. The CBC plays a significant role in our culture and it's elimination will bring change. Yeah - i don't really believe that to be honest. And it's pretty common for liberal supporters to pretend neutrality on forums to pretend to be a 'non partisan' viewpoint But your comments and actions don't really jive with your stated position here. Why would hiring gays or the like 'assasinate' those who supported PP from the start? The cpc has supported gays since about 2006. The first cpc candidate i volunteered for was gay, At the policy convention where gay marriage came up there was strong support for the gays. I supported PP"s campaign and I'm pro gay rights. Let me guess - you're one of those liberals who actually believes justin's propaganda that conservatives hate gays right? Sigh. Yeah - definitely not a liberal supporter. Gotcha. Well - yes and no. You see - socialists of any type are willing to allow private business PROVIDED that a) the gov't controls it to the point where they might as well own it - thus taking no risk but still exercising control and b) provided they can tax the bejeezuz out of it so that they might as well own it and again do so with no risk. So while they might be willing to allow people to have their name on the business the end result is still the same. What the liberals have been fond of us siphoning off gov't money into businesses which will do them favours or give them a benefit, either as a party or personally. They also do that with charities. etc etc. so they're socialist in the sense that they want to control and tax businesses beyond the needs of the gov't, but i guess you'd say they were just corrupt in that they put a lot of that money in their pockets one way or another,

  23. No, Its because the media doesn't report it in a way that gets people too worked up. The politiicans can say what they like but what the people hear is filtered by the media. For example, the people in toronto - traditional liberal supporters - listen to cbc and toronto star and similar media. Those will print fewer stories about this, only focus on it for a very short time, downplay it with the language they choose, and then print something else that is attention grabbing to distract. It's what they do, They will print next to no replies from the opposition - one or two but very brief and that's it . So nobody thinks it's that big a deal. A conservative member having a chance meeting with some disreputable germans got MORE space and MORE urgency in those papers than this did. The media is an incredibly powerful tool.

  29. Well i think he will simply defund the cbc and then it has to survive on it's own (or not.) So it will have to appeal to a target market and win them over to keep it's income the old fashioned way. I don't think that will make them more neutral, but if whatever changes they make don't appeal to enough people they'll die. And PP is the kind to find ways to funnel money into media companies that are right of center to offset the constant left of center media we've seen in the past. That might be through things like giving exlusive interviews, spending gov't money in advertising, etc etc. Make the right profitable and let the left languish a bit to turn back decades of having it the other way around. Oh for sure! The gov't appoints the judges to the supreme court, and most are older by the time they get There. For sure some will retire and when they do PP can appoint people that he knows are more to the right. to counter balance the judges. It's a bit of a shame - harper put a process in place that was very clever to select judges in a very neutral fashion, eliminating a lot of the political leanings. Over time it would have made for a supreme court that was based strongly on merit and bipartisan acceptance. Trudeau of course dismantled that day one and just appointed judges he likes. Absolutely. It has to be done right or companies will decide consumers are used to those prices and will just up their prices to pick up the slack, but if you do it right that can be avoided. All good ideas. Have you considered running for gov't?

  31. Interestingly enough there is historic precedence for that. The nazi party largely arose as a response to the communist party of germany's aggressive and often violent pushing of their agenda for example. The 'Red Wedding" incident (not game of thrones - this happened in a place called Wedding which was called red wedding because of the communist control of the area) really pushed people into letting the nazis take power specifically to address communist aggressive tactics. Often times in history the 'left' gets hostile and agressive, and the 'right' becomes radicalized in response. It CAN go the other way as well but generally doesn't. The reason for that is that when people overthrow a tyrant that controls their lives the last thing they want to replace it with is a totalitarian regime that also wants to control their lives.

  32. US Department of Energy came to the same conclusion, though with lower confidence. That's two. The next milestone is if / when the agencies would harmonize their findings and present the common position to the Senate and the world. This is a lot better, to me and I want to think, many reasonable intelligent citizens than a mouth with no brain connected to the Central Committee table barking out the truth of the day.

  37. Just the Liberal Party lol. I don't oppose all the immigration policies, just some of the more extreme ones that aren't in the best interests of the country, which should be the primary purpose of immigration. The Liberals also called reporters racist for reporting that CSIS warned the government that one of their MP's was likely a foreign agent of the Chinese government. They'll say lots of stuff to defend their agenda.

  38. No, you are entirely concerned with who is governing Canada. How Canada is governed never changes, from the top, secretively and according to the demands imposed by self-interest. No political party can help themselves and they literally have no choice. If you were honestly more concerned about how you wouldn't be wasting all your time and energy on who.

  40. You probably can’t explain why you disagree with anything that I say, because if you could, you would. I want to learn and grow. I’m happy to have my mind changed and to be refuted by a solid argument. Unfortunately most posters on here simply don’t know history and can’t support the views they put forth. I’d actually like to hear from you what it is that you think I promote, because I don’t think you know. If you did, you might actually agree with much of what I have to say. Dougie and I had brutal disagreements in the past, but I saw his true character when our government started mistreating people during the pandemic. It became pretty clear who were decent and who were cowardly in those discussions. Anyone who has been on this forum more than several months knows that I have spoken up for Canada and its policy differences from the US and other countries until I was blue in the face, but over the past couple of years Canada has entered a very strange and worrisome place. We’ve come to accept a whole range of policies passively because we’ve been trained not to think for ourselves, but rather to let government decide how we should think and live. Instead of free speech and pluralism we have compelled speech and unacceptable views. We have been taught without clear evidence that Canada is genocidal, actively so, and we’ve been told to accept a range of beliefs that run counter to people’s religious and/or ethical and/or philosophical and/or political beliefs. Canada is now one of the most permissive countries on assisted suicide, abortion, “gender affirmation”, and hard drugs. We’re also heavily involved in a new proxy war. We also have a government that enacts martial law and freezes bank accounts of political opponents largely due to government incompetence. My concerns are not with the Canadian people and this beautiful land, but rather with how it is being governed. Canada has shifted radically to the left and it’s arguable that it has has entered totalitarian territory.

You speak just like a Russian or Chinese government agent trying to sow discord. We have no proof you were a soldier, your arguments stand on their own merits and claims of service don't exonerate you from them.
