here comes the Millennial leftist thought police who have cried wolf on racism to the point that it is an utterly meaningless assertion at this point2 points

This is quite untrue. At least from the Trudeau time on, which covers the last 50 years or so. Pierre Trudeau started the process of disentangling Canadians from their historical roots in the UK in order to make Quebecers feel more comfortable as Canadians. He and his party, both during his time and since then, have worked steadily away at removing all traces of that heritage they could without it becoming too obvious. The "royal" moniker was removed from everything they could except the RCMP. Ministries became Departments. The constitution, anthem and flag were all changed. Even the name of our national holiday was changed. Canadians were no longer taught much of anything about British history. Visits from the royals were, it not actually discouraged, certainly not encouraged. Immigration was opened to third world countries in hopes that building up a large population of non-Anglos and non-Francos would soften the linguistic and cultural divide between us. Ironically, you could make a case that all of this constitutes cultural genocide in Justin's language. But I heartily doubt any liberal has the slightest regret. In fact, Trudeau brags about it, saying Canada has no core identity. Well, yes, because you destroyed it. Btw, that's only applied to English Canada. Quebec, on the other hand, he asserts, is most definitely a nation with a unique and forever to be treasured and protected at any cost culture.2 points

In Atlantic Canada EI and welfare are ranked amongst the top employers. and if you think 1500 dollars a month is all they make your kidding yourself, there are a raft of government programs that boost well past that figure. That plus under the table work is religion here. I understand why welfare is so important, for some it is a life saving measure, but there are entire families on welfare for years, decades and at some time welfare needs to stop and people just need to get a job and contribute. But many have learned to take advantage of the system, here in the maritime they have made it into a science. scheming taxpayers out of hard-earned money, to play for those too lazy to work... EI is the same we have fishermen making 6 figures then qualifying for EI on the off season. those people are messing it up for those that truly need a helping hand. While it may be good for your business, but the question should be why you have to work hard for your money, and they well they get to stay at home, and do whatever they want.1 point

Let me be clear that I am referring to American Evangelical Christianity, which is absolutely a "pick and choose" religion. Did Jesus decry the sins of wealth? Absolutely he did. No question. Does the Bible repeatedly command followers to help the poor? Absolutely it does, no question. Does the Bible command followers to take in immigrants? Yes. Jesus, in fact, was an immigrant. Look at this this way: If we take the OPPOSITE of Evangelical Christianity, is that Satanism, or is it good? The opposite, in my view, is COMPASSIONATE towards others. LOVING towards others. GIVES AWAY WEALTH. DOES NOT JUDGE OTHERS. So I can only conclude that Evangelical Christianity in America is Satanism. It is the opposite of Christianity. Just this week, DeSantis and Abbot flew illegal immigrants to Massachusetts and Washington, and they've been sending buses of them there as well. That is something Satan would do, not Jesus. Adultery is a greater sin than homosexuality, because Adultery is one of the Ten Commandments. Why some Christians think there are only nine commandments, I don't understand, but ok, there are Nine if you're Christian, and gay sex isn't part of that unless you're married. And... ok, that makes no sense that PAUL, not Jesus, but PAUL's word is somehow more important that God Himself. But anyway... is adultery illegal in any state? Did one single Christian leader in America stop supporting Trump when yet more adultery was discovered? No. Somehow, the Nine Commandments written by the Lord Himself are less important than non-Commandments. A woman accused of adultery was brought before Jesus to be stoned to death. After all, the Ten Commandments say that adultery is a sin. The Bible commands death. What did Jesus do? He forgave her. He said that the first one without sin should be first to throw a stone. But Evangelical Christianity today is nothing like that at all. They are extremely forgiving of their own sins and extremely judgemental of sins which don't affect them. Where did Jesus tell you to pray? On television? On a street corner? On a gigantic altar in front of hundreds or thousands? Or alone, in private? Consider the Seven Deadly Sins of Christianity. (Note that homosexuality isn't one of them) Lust Gluttony Greed Sloth Wrath Envy Pride Donald Trump is a poster child of those seven sins, except, perhaps, Sloth. But the rest? Lust: Married three times. Cheated on all his wives. Gluttony: Well, look at him. Greed: Ask his relatives about why Donald managed to inherit all the money. Sloth: He refused to read his Presidential Daily Briefs. They had to be read to him in simplified form. Wrath: When somebody disagrees with the man, he unleashes hell upon them. No question the man is wrathful. Envy: When France had a military parade, Donald decided that America needed to have a bigger parade. Pride: He's definitely not humble, not by any means. When the US Treasury sent checks to American taxpayers, he put his own name on the checks, as if the money came from him. So it is clear that American Evangelicals support an anti-Christian man. I CHALLENGE YOU: Give me just ONE example of an Evangelical Christian leader standing up to American Big Business. Just one example. The only one I can think of? Businesses with policies that are compassionate and tolerant towards homosexuals. THAT is something evangelicals will gleefully attack! Compassion! But low pay? Pollution of the environment? Outsourcing US jobs to China? Making people work on Sunday? I challenge you to show me that.1 point

That’s the truth that most Canadians don’t see and would struggle to admit. It wasn’t always this way, but the absence of commentary from Canadian intellectuals on the degradation of our democracy is too obvious to ignore. We had a few brave exceptions like Rex Murphy and Jordan Peterson calling out the problems, but the Canadian left was totally unquestioning and compliant. Where was Naiomi Klein and other social justice activists when it came to calling out overreach? The American left did better. Beri Weiss was all over it. Generally Canadians have lost their sense of the meaning of a free and truly liberal democracy. You can’t tell them. It’s all denial and apology from characters like Exflyer. This forum was basically moribund during the protests except among a handful of commentators. I don’t know what people think a healthy functioning democracy looks like, but Canada hasn’t been it for a while and needs serious restoration.1 point

Canadians simply do not believe in freedom it's not the Canadian religion the Canadian religion is government Canadians believe that you are only entitled to what liberties you are allowed by the government Canadians spend most of their time telling each other to sit down, shut up, and do as your told by the government and Canadians only have one solution to every problem which is that the government should pass a law banning said problem then waste a lot of money pointlessly trying to enforce the ban Canadians believe that the press should be state run the role of the press in Canada is not to hold the government accountable quite the opposite, Canadians believe the role of the press is to promote the government, sing its praises ceaselessly Canadians believe that speech should be tightly controlled the government will tell you what are "acceptable views" if you deviate in the slightest from the party line, that's "hate speech" and illegal Canadians are terrified of freedom it's much too dangerous for nanny state Canadians to allow people to be free it really is a lunatic asylum, but it's so far gone, that Canadians don't even notice that they are insane Canadians exist entirely within the government nanny safe space bubble, they can't even conceive that it is a prison the government doesn't protect them, doesn't protect their rights, doesn't protect their property the government only protects them from having to be free its so much easier for Canadians to just obey, than it is to have to run their own lives Canadians even go so far now, to say that "freedom" & "freedom of speech" are "expressions of hate" cuckoo-cuckoo1 point

Bidumb has to be the most hateful and traitorous American president of all time. This buffoon is either totally stupid or he does suffer from senility but still knows as to what he is doing which should get him impeached or at least kicked off the presidential stage for good. This buffoon of a president is really out to destroy the good old America and bring in a new and real bad and corrupt government to America. It's hard to believe that this fool is able to get one person to any of his events. Maybe those that do attend are being paid to be there. Hey, we never know, eh? Bidumb is truly a worthless dip shit alright. One can only hope that the GOP takes the house and the senate in the midterm elections. Sadly, Canada is no better off with the dip shit that we have running this once great Canadian nation. Why do people keep electing these buffoons all the time is beyond me. It must mean that we have way more stupid people out there than we ever thought. ?1 point

I already explained that. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Putin make laws too, but that doesn't make them moral. Making laws to allow abortion for example does not make it moral if the Bible condemns it. Laws are man-made and can say anything. That does not mean that God in his word, the Bible, approves of them. Laws can still be immoral from a biblical point of view. It should also be mentioned there are two different views of what the word moral means. There is the secular humanist or world's view and there is the Bible or God's view. I am speaking about the Biblical view when I say moral or immoral. We should not confuse the two views. You may be thinking of morality from a purely worldly or humanist view which is totally different than the Bible view.1 point

The Soviets clashed with Japan more than just 3 weeks in 1945. Khalkhin Gol for example. The Soviets' most effective contribution in this theater, however, was pinning down the Japanese Army in Manchuria for the duration of the war. Had this elite force been free to add its weight to the war in China, China and likely Burma & India would have fallen to the Axis.1 point

It's just too simple for the simple minded to grasp. Instead of a boatload of programs and bureaucracies you have one. You don't have to file for EI or welfare or CPP. They send you like $1500 a month to live on. When you work it pushes you into a higher tax bracket and they get most of it back. And they don't have to pay umpteen thousands of extra staff to run all those agencies. And please explain how giving you Welfare or EI causes inflation as it is now? Plus there already is all those 'lazy bastards who won't work' as it is, that regardless still had to shop in my store, pay for my services or buy the things that the company I work for makes. If they think scraping by is good, to hell with them. I'll still take their money. It's as good as yours!1 point

West has no good points. We should really just let this criticism wither on the vine and replace it with a real discussion. For one thing: this was proposed in Canada by an establishment conservative High Segal (I doubt many here realize that) as a way to reduce the bureaucracy. It was embraced by the left most recently, after CERB was doled out. But the details are not of interest to anyone it seems, such as: -universality -amount of the benefit -program cuts -tracking If you care about criticizing UBI, have a smart discussion or get out of the way. Sometimes in life you have to shut up...1 point
-
Screeching about Russia and Venezuela is not an argument. UBI isn't slavery, it's a new approach to economic changes. Is it a good idea? I don't think it's even practical. But if we have stupid discussions, then we will get stupid governments. Good discussions include things like using words properly, and participants conversion points.1 point

I don't find Kate to be the slightest bit sexy. Far too skinny. I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear she is anorexic. If the rumours about Will's infidelity are true it appears he no longer finds her sexy either. I think the Sussexes will still be in love long after the Waleses marriage is over.1 point

It’s not about someone’s sexual identity or orientation. It’s about policies. One can oppose someone’s lifestyle and still agree with that person’s views on certain issues, perhaps many issues. No one here wants to criminalize homosexuality, to my knowledge. Lantsman is a very admirable MP who deserves a Cabinet position if the CPC wins the government, in my opinion. I also admire Leslyn Lewis, a social conservative. As long as Poilievre lets people speak their minds and doesn’t throw people under the bus unless they are clearly mean-spirited or hateful, he has my support.1 point

and this is how it goes in Canada "Canadian" is not an identity "Canadian" is a French bastardization of an Algonquin word it's meaningless, other than in the context of being British North America but since Canadians are pathologically insecure about being a British country they reject that identity and thus they are left with what ? public healthcare, draconian gun control & ice hockey ? that's not an identity that could be an any American Democrat from New England0 points
