Well Chrétien’s government brought in the Clarity Act to ensure that Quebecers know what they are voting for in a referendum and what would have to be negotiated and lost. It’s so rich to expect $13 billion from English Canada in transfer payments, refuse an Energy East pipeline that would make all Canadians wealthier and energy independent, and to treat out of province Canadians like foreigners through tuition fees and a $5000 welcome charge for Canadians who move there. To now deny Canadian federal services in English to anglophone Quebecers is oppressive, unfair, and unconstitutional. Many Quebecers think they deserve more than other Canadians, even as they make below average economic contributions within Confederation. Why has the federal government accepted this?2 points

Well I always loved Quebec inside Canada and as an English speaking Quebecer (out of province student at the time), I was in the 1995 "We love Quebec" huge gathering in downtown Montreal a few days before referendum however, if Quebec wishes to violate our Charter and walk over our fundamental rights and demonstrate a shameful picture of present democratic Canada then I prefer them OUT of Federation rather than a shameful inside. We have to stand for what is right not to buy their votes by violating fundamental human rights of our citizens.2 points

I think that it is safe to say that Canadians have already contributed enough of their tax dollars towards keeping Canada up and running for the past two years. Canadians could not leave the country. We were pretty much forced to visit the rest of Canada because we could not leave Canada. If the economy is so great, what is with the high gas prices that are starting to kill our economy. And that baboon in Ottawa keeps borrowing money from the globalist banksters by the hundreds of billions and takes that money and blows it on his communist WEF globalist plans for Canada, and not to forget that he also likes spreading that borrowed money on many other countries third world countries around the world. which is causing inflation. Sometimes it is nice to just be able to get away and go visit another country for a change and a holiday, and see what the rest of the world is all about. I do not want to lock myself down in Canada forever when there is more to see outside of Canada. I have been to and visited all of Canada. How many times do you want me to make a trip to Edmonton just because Canada is such a beautiful country? ? .2 points

There’s a lot of beauty in Canada. Muskoka may be the most beautiful cottage country in the world. Ontario has the best boating in the world between the Rideau Canal, Georgian Bay, and the Thousand Islands around pretty Kingston. Parts of Alberta have some of the most beautiful natural landscapes: Lake Louise, Jasper, Banff, etc. BC has the best skiing in the world. Vancouver Island’s old growth coniferous forests and old worldly English charm and beautiful weather…Quebec has beautiful European old cities and beautiful lakes, mountains, and skiing. Newfoundland has many other-worldly gems. Nova Scotia has Louisbourg, mountainous Cabot Trail, UNESCO ship-building Lunenberg, and of course the citadel city of Halifax. Some say the far north has the most beautiful parts of Canada. Never been. Canada has rich French, Celtic, and over 200 Indigenous cultures. You can also eat any food from any country and feel accepted no matter what your background just about anywhere. However, I want to travel internationally as freely as possible, as I should be able to in a free country.2 points

well, I don't think it's that she loves Canada so much she just refuses to move to America, in stark raving fear of raucous American freedom but if I wanted to move to Switzerland or Belgium, she'd probably be down with that1 point

Elitist? All you need is a pair of skis (I picked up a pair of Head Skies with poles at value village for $35.) You'll want a backpack for your lunch and away you go. If you don't want to spend money on a lift, climb. People skied long before chair lifts were built. They didn't really start building lifts until the late 1940's. Climbing will get you in shape and, while you won't get in as many runs, you will appreciate them all the more. So, that $35 pair of skis will last you ten or fifteen years. Amortize the cost and you will be looking at $1.50 a year. Most of my friends buy a season ticket. They are mostly blue collar workers Next year I turn that magic age where I ski for FREE! Red Mountain, Kimberley, and Fernie are hardly over run with your "elites."1 point

one may even wish to live amongst priggish Victorians simply because they are so law abiding but I would not recommend spending your tourism budget on that as the whole point of tourism is to get away from that sort of thing, to have some adventure for a change1 point

The constitution is designed to be a living and evolving document. This is the same document that did not give women the right to vote and did not provide equal rights to black people. This century requires a different approach to guns than the 1700’s…the guns are not even the same guns. Gun violence is a human rights issue and it’s time to revisit the 2nd amendment as other aspects of the constitution were visited. This is not a partisan issue, it’s a matter of public safety.1 point

I don’t mind telling people that if it keeps them from coming. Too much new development without historic context. Vertical sprawl. Still love the old hoods: Annex, Queen West, Kensington, St. Lawrence Market, Beaches, Cabbagetown, Leslieville…1 point

Depends where you go. I keep my boat in Toronto and toodle around the islands and Spit. Barely any mosquitoes. It’s like being up north but it’s a 40 minute drive from home with the amazing amenities of Toronto. Too bad fuel costs are outrageous. Thank Trudeau and Biden for that.1 point

A major problem the airports ran into is when the air transportation industry screeched to a halt, they lost a lot of their staff. Now that it's opening up, they had to hire a lot of new staff who are inexperienced. That has slowed things down because every time they run into a new problem with a passenger, they have no experienced people to expedite a resolution. That is only one problem of course. The airlines have also contributed to the problem by running more flights than the airport capacity can handle. Finally, the government did not anticipate the volume. My sympathy is hampered by my own prejudice against tourism. Having the country over run with foreign tourists is disheartening to me. I've always seen tourism as a form of prostitution, selling our most treasured possession for money. I know there are a lot of jobs in the tourist industry, but there are a lot of alternative careers they could have in the STEM industries. It is my problem, but it does bother me that thee are fewer places we can go to get away from people. Unbroken powder is becoming a scarcity after 10 AM. I just had to vent. I feel better now. Have a great weekend everyone. ?1 point

The current vaccines have limited impact on Omicron, which is a relatively mild flu-like short-term illness in the vast majority of people. A year ago such a mandate was far more arguable. What our government is imposing on people by preventing them from flying out of the country without Covid vaccination is highly oppressive and unconstitutional. I’m not sure why truckers need to enter the discussion, unless your purpose is to associate concern for mandates with some kind of blue collar element. There are many people from all walks of life, income levels, and education levels who oppose such mandates. I can’t believe that this requires explanation.1 point

Canada has lapsed into totalitarianism under Trudeau. What humane country would imprison citizens over a dubious vaccine mandate. That article illustrates what’s happening: ”’I cannot board a plane in Canada to fly to Ireland because I am not vaccinated," she read, ‘The government of Canada has set a mandate that states that no unvaccinated person shall board a plane, train, or bus whether to travel domestically or internationally. I believe it is the only country in the western world that has imposed this sanction of the unvaccinated population.’”1 point

I understand your sensitivity towards the word moron. But I think Robert is just saying what many of us already know, namely that the hosts of The View say an awful lot of stupid things on a regular basis. They are pulling in huge salaries and no doubt have an army of writers but apparently no researchers to dig up actual facts. The View is just another example of pure garbage on tv. I often see clips of these hosts and they just come across as fools although once in a blue moon a tiny hint of reason might pop up. Joy Behar is just awful and Caryn Johnson is right up there too.1 point

Michael, when I talk about democrat stooge judges, here is what I'm talking about: https://www.nationalreview.com/news/doj-convicts-former-philly-judge-of-elections-who-stuffed-ballots-for-bribes/ And let me highlight some of the juicy parts here: He faces up to 15 years for accepting bribes to stuff ballot boxes in 2014, 2015 and 2016. And I suspect that you knew nothing about this because your favoured news sources suppressed this news from you, because they don't want the public to realize what's been going on with some of these dirty democrat judges.1 point

One would think that with Biden's poll numbers so low right now and the midterms approaching that he would be inclined to make some sensible changes as his current policies are total failures. But no, he and his team seemed absolutely determined to double down on stupid. His energy policy does not work nor does it make any sense to keep ramming woke ideology down the throats of Americans. The government cannot keep printing more money and hope inflation goes away, it won't. With Joe Biden in the white house the socialists that dominate the Democrats must have thought they died and went to heaven. So many Americans are struggling now thanks to Biden's incompetence and I hope they turn turn out in record numbers for the midterms.1 point
