Only about 40% of the Ontario voters turned out. I believe the Conservative voters came out and voted for Ford but the dippers and libs had such lousy leaders and campaign, their party loyalists did not vote. Both libs and dippers promised so much even their own did not believe them. So both leaders bailed. Horwath a 4 time complainer and loser is gone and the Del Duca/McGuinty/Wynne libs may have finally died. Sure a big change from when Ford won the first time. The outrage and the claim that Ontario is finished. Now they wanted Ford2 points

So, the guy who froze the bank accounts of people who just donated small amounts of money to the truckers now wants the power to red flag people who are "deemed a threat"..... Not much chance for government overreach there. Here's how that's gonna go down: -cops will show up at your door and say "give up your guns, you've been deemed a threat" -you'll say "But why? I've never done anything wrong." -Cops say "Your name came up on the computer. You can fight this in court. Here's some official-looking paper." -You think about saying "...to wipe my ass with", but you bite your tongue. -You try to navigate their idiotic new website, come to a bunch of dead ends (like on the Svc Canada website), give up, try to call in, be put on hold for 2 hours, navigate some more, give up to try another day when you have time during the week, a couple weeks later -try the site again, then send in a letter. Wait 4 weeks -You finally get a letter in the mail, a login for their site, you'll pay for an application for an online hearing, but they don't have a time yet. You'll wait a few more weeks for that. -after the weeks have passed, they will ask you a bunch of personal questions and about your financial history, exactly why and where and how often you use your guns, your financial status, your family and any history of depression there, etc. -If anyone on FB ever called you a name, you might not qualify to get your guns back. If you have too many FB posts which are critical of our dear leader, you might not qualify to get your guns back. -after a few months you have a 50% chance to get your guns back, but you'll never find out why they were taken in the first place. I've been on this earth 54 years now, I know how this shithole country works.2 points

While Iran's regime under mullahs and ayatollahs ordering their mercenary security forces to shoot into crowd, the weak spineless Biden administration is considering revival of 2015 nuclear deal with Iran's oppressive regime. There has been many uprising by Iranians in recent past during which the mullahs ordered brutal crackdowns in which hundreds were targeted in their hearts and heads. Many were taken to prisons and subjected to extreme torture. Many women even men prisoners were raped by islamic prison guards under the order of islamic clergy overseeing torture and rape, some even murdered. The most recent is uprising in the past 2 weeks against extreme poverty and rapid rise in prices of essential goods like bread. The poverty protests changed into protests for regime change as murderous mercenary security guards opened fire into peaceful crowd. So far at least six people have been reported dead and hundreds arrested the fate of whom are unknown. The nation is calling for regime change and death of murderous leaders of islamic republic while the regime has cut off internet to many parts of the country, news still getting out of a brutal crackdown on defenseless unarmed peaceful demonstrators who simply demand their rights. Iranians are on streets again calling for the return of exile king while calling on God to bless his grandfather's soul, the great Reza Shah, the first king of Pahlavi dynasty who modernized Iran in less than 16 years of his golden rule before being forced out by British imperialism. https://english.alarabiya.net/News/middle-east/2022/05/18/Iran-protests-spread-to-major-central-province-unofficial-death-toll-rises-to-six in the last uprising thousands were killed. I was quite surprised today to see an announcement from the Ontario Ministry of Health that they will provide free counselling for persons suffering from anxiety and depression. Right now one of 4 Canadians is off work at some time due to anxiety or depression and it costs billions in lost income each year due to work absences. This government has been accused of being harsh, insensitive, etc., but has just done something very progressive and enlightened. Right now if you have depression or anxiety you have to wait months to see a psychiatrist under OHIP. The psychiatrist is usually so over-booked the best he or she does is give you a brief 15 minute interview and sends you back to your your gp who may have to give you anti anxiety or anti depressant medication. The medication itself may or may not help but without adjunct (associated, attached) cognitive therapy the medication in itself may not be as effective as monitoring the medication and also guiding individuals how to identify triggers for negative behaviour. Now for many this will not be noticed but its huge (excuse the Trump word) in terms of implications. It will intercept numerous domestic violence scenarios and prevent them. It will intercept persons who might otherwise act out with violence or driving drunk or skipping work or committing suicide or crimes. In the short term it costs for the counsellors to be funded but in the long term it deals with an actually wide spread issue that costs medical care in the long run more than it will prevent with the short term immediate funding expense. Its something the supposed left wing NDP and Liberals never considered. Very far sighted. Next time someone blasts this government as uncaring it may want to think twice. This government has taken a lot of heat over issues dealing with disability issues particularly the cost of autism programs mainstreaming disabilities in schools that it has not created but is trying to fairly deal with. I applaud this constructive announcement.1 point

Nice bullshit. The bottom line is, criminals should be caught and charged. If found guilty, they should go to jail. If this simple, yet common logic fails you...I guess the progressive bug is more potent than I thought.1 point

Not really fair to limit it to police though, because of course, Blacks get murdered. Usually by other blacks, so it seems. BLM doesn't seem to care about them though.1 point

I'm pleased that the PC's won a strong majority but disappointed by the low voter turnout. Ford won't solve all of our problems but compared with the far-left two major opponents he is clearly the best of the worst. Having the right to vote is a wonderful thing and it's a pity so many people just can't be bothered to do it.1 point

I don't know what you're going on about. But maybe no one does... They used it for something or else they wouldn'ta bothered invoking it, for all it cost them. It allows the Fed to step in with all their resources. The fact that they didn't need to use it to press charges, since those charges are covered by existing laws only proves they should not have invoked the act in the first place. OTHER THAN it allowing them to send in the RCMP, because the local forces and local tow trucks refused to do it. They were with the people, not government chivatos. Who are you with, fella?1 point

@Michael Hardner Why do you think Trudeau left the West Point Grey Academy so abruptly just to start teaching somewhere else in the not-too-distant future? Are you forbidden to discuss that topic? Do you work for a media outlet or something?1 point

It seems like "B-level movie material" right now, but.... -did you ever think that you'd see police officers in Canada holding a man down and ruthlessly beating him after he surrendered peacefully, when his only crime was protesting peacefully? -did you ever think that a PM and a majority of MPs would support such a drastic overreach of power that the Senate would suddenly have to make themselves useful? It's like a Golden Retriever that jumps up to attack a bad guy after just licking people and jumping up on them for 100 years. -did you ever expect to see a PM call 15% of the population racists and misogynists just because they refused a controversial medical treatment? -did you ever expect that our mainstream media would back a bigoted rant from our own PM? What I wrote looks like "B-movie material" because our country is a treasure trove of B-movie material right now.1 point

No, they say Black Lives Matter because it's inflammatory and they're trying to dredge up anger and hostility, and also because when people disagree with their lies they can shriek "You don't think black lives matter!" Blackbird did it on this forum at least once. Do you have some actual examples of police murdering black people? I have lots of examples of non-murders that BLM hyped up in order to cause rioting, looting, arson, assaults and murders... 1) Brionna Taylor - shot in the gunfight that ensued after her boyfriend shot a cop 2) Rayshard Brooks - fired a taser (a "firearm" under Georgia law) at a cop's head from close range, cop returned fire 3) Michael "Gentle Giant" Brown - wrestled with a cop to steal his gun, said he'd kill the cop with it, and got shot 4) George Floyd - was having trouble breathing, even when no one was touching him. No one believed him. He died the exact same way that Tony Timpa died, and Timpa's death was ruled to not be a murder. FYI there's a saying which isn't limited to incidents with the police, "fuck around and find out", that applied to all of those police shootings. Don't shoot at cops, don't try to steal a cop's gun and tell him that you intend to kill him with it, and don't resist arrest over a $20 bill after you get high on Fentanyl. In every single one of those instances above, the people who died had every chance to be alive if they just didn't do one or more things that were drastically stupid. They put officers in life-or-death situations and they ended up dead. In every single one of those instances above, Dems/BLM/CNN/MSNBC grossly mischaracterized the events that occurred, their dialogue intentionally omitted most or all of the actions that the deceased took which escalated the encounters into life-or-death situations, they grossly mischaracterized the character of the deceased in order to churn up righteous anger, and then they revelled in the ensuing carnage. Let those scumbags try to sue me for libel, I can prove what I said in a court of law. Again MH, name some black people that we saw get murdered... I predict the sound of crickets and dodging coming up....1 point

I am Canadian, and why do I have to tell the Marxist government in Ottawa as to when I am leaving Canada, and when I am planning on returning back to Canada. If you cannot see the communism in this, then you have to be pretty bloody stunned. I have the vaccine required information on my phone, and that should have been enough to show and for them to scan if they wanted too. ?1 point

Prime Minister Trudeau recommended the War Measures Act be invoked at the request of Premier Bourassa. The kidnapping of Mr. Cross and Minister LaPorte by the FLQ fulfilled the definition of an "apprehended insurrection." Unlike the Emergencies Act, the War Measures Act suspended civil liberties. Years later, it was pointed out to Prime Minister Trudeau that, had he not been Prime Minister at the time, he would have been one of the people arrested under the War Measures Act. To which he replied, "Yah, but I wouldn't have bitched about it."1 point

You can return. You'll just be asked to quarantine. I do agree it's about time we do away with all this, you can catch COVID with or without the vaccine.1 point

I can imagine you being pissed at having to fill out those paper immigration forms you get on return flights too eh? You don't have to fill it out when leaving. You have to fill it out upon return. Many countries have similar pre-screening. The sun destination I recently went to actually forced me to purchase a COVID insurance policy. The App is much better than having to show your Vaccine forms when doing Customs and Immigration.1 point

I don't think people are more racist today but in a sense we are now living in a constant state of apprehension because of the fear of being labelled racist for anything and everything. I should point out this state of apprehension applies primarily to white people who get blamed for all the world's problems. It is the left that is always using identity politics as a weapon. They don't care about character, it's all about skin colour.1 point

It's exactly for that reason they can now take away pretty much anything. Walk only with a lead disinfecting ball, step to the right or left qualified as insurgency and handy ubiquitous propaganda to convince you (like 95% of you, that will do) that it's all for your own good. Please find what is wrong in this picture. Please tell me that they couldn't.1 point

This is just more Marxist communism at work. It's not about hand gun violence at all. It is all about confiscating hand guns from honest gun owners. I saw one gun dealer on TV the other day where he pretty much said that if this goes thru he will be out of business and he will be stuck with hundreds of handguns to now try and get rid of or may have to hang on to them until this communist pos legislation is appealed. It's for dam sure that those Jamaican drug gangbangers out there will not be surrendering their hand guns. The shootings will continue and this new Bill will only deprive the honest citizen of their right to their protection from scum like those drug gangbangers or scum that like to break into homes. The conservative party needs to step up on this communist bit of bullshit before it is too late. We have a crazy Marxist mad man running this country, and he needs to be stopped. He is a real danger to all of those freedom loving people in Canada. He has shown us all that he has no love for rights and freedoms, just hatred and contempt for we the peasants. All this dictator wants is total control and power over we the peasants. If this arse can freeze bank accounts, and throw innocent people in jail, then he is quite capable of taking more of our rights and freedoms away from us. All that soon will be left for him to do is declare that Canada is now a communist country. Appear to say anything anti-government or anti Trudeau and it will the gulag for you. Hey, we never know, eh? ?1 point

They took away our freedom of movement with their COVID passports. Took away our job security with their vaccination mandates. Took away our right to protest with invoking emergency measures for bogus reasons. Now you are worried about the guns they will take away from present and potential future criminals. Your pleas are falling on deaf ears as far as I am concerned.1 point

Buddy I've said that at least 2 times now including the first time it was said. You're quoting the article I gave you. There were two kids who made some threats against schools they claimed they would shoot up in four years. That was 4 years ago. They were sent to Juvenile detention for it. A Republican congressman confused them with the recent Uvalde shooter, Salvador Ramos. McCraw corrected him, saying the two cases are not connected. Are you hoping I forgot or are you honestly so dozy that you didn't notice me telling you that - TWICE? Three times now. Or do you think the information floated down to you from the sky or something. Reality man, come back to it. Get a grip. Now as to the claim Ramos also threatened to shoot up a school, yeah I think I heard that too. Something about messaging some girl who didn't know him or something. But it wasn't 4 years ago. That was a different incident most probably involving somebody else.0 points
