  1. It's me. I get $61M to release top secret media dispatches but since it's secret I just email them to myself. Sometimes I get an urge to read them, but I don't. Because I'm a professional.

  2. If you get caught carrying a gun, just say that you identify as a woman or that you're LGBTQP ( I put the P at the end so that a few more of us qualify - it stands for pervert). You can't get sentenced to much in Canada if you're in a protected class.

  3. Yeah I like Maxime, but he needs to speak his mind confidently in debates. I think most Canadians would agree with his views, especially recent immigrants, if he stressed the importance of free enterprise and Charter freedoms. The Liberals are the socialist dictatorship party that wants to control and overspend your hard-earned money and direct it towards their special interest woke lobby groups and themselves.

  4. I remember many years ago the Connecticut house sitting well into the breakfast hour to table a budget one year because running a deficit was illegal for the state government. What we see now are grandiose dreams on the campaign trail luring votes when there’re no concrete plans for the financials. Liberals are famous for X zillion dollar scenarios “over X years” when there’s no certainty of them even being in office so completion and payback never happens.

  5. Problem is we don't pay it off over time, politicians just babble on about debt to GDP and just keep carrying the debt. Future generations end up paying for two bridges, then three etc, because none of them are paid for.

  6. On the one article I looked at it didn't mention anything about tougher sentencing for those using guns to actually commit crimes but then that's the Liberal way. Just go after the low hanging fruit as usual. Trudeau says he'll make streets safer but his new gun bill won't help | Toronto Sun Trudeau is the master of virtue signaling though. But what a drama queen!

  7. No it hasn’t always been this way. Bill Davis ran Ontario in a very bipartisan way. Mulroney and Chrétien ran the country from the centre. The current federal Liberals are acting in a vindictive and insensitive manner. Maintaining travel restrictions against the unvaccinated now is Nazi level totalitarian. We won’t forget.

  8. Exactly. This has nothing to do with science or health or a pandemic.

  9. Every Liberal voted today to keep the travel restrictions for unvaccinated. Every Conservative voted against it. This is a political war, not a pandemic.

  10. The Trudeau regime has really divided the country and caused unwarranted national shame. This PM is so easily manipulated by the UN and WEF. Not even Biden is so foolish as to sign onto such agreements. So we are being asked to make reparations towards people who don’t pay taxes yet have the infrastructure on their land paid for, healthcare paid for, and education paid for (including higher education). Which Indigenous descendants today deserve reparations and who pays them? More than half the country came here within the past 50 years or are the descendants of recent immigrants. Our elitist government has agendas that are undermining the strength and sovereignty of Canada when it comes to energy, natural resources, the use of tax dollars, the imposition of carbon taxes, and other crushing inflationary measures that are hurting working Canadians and lowering living standards for all. The constant shaming of Canada through endless apologies and the vilification of Canadians who made mistakes but also did many good things, such as Ryerson, have just about destroyed our country. Vilify the essential workers and figures from the past who can’t defend themselves Don’t provide any historical context for past deeds that were considered among the most progressive reforms in the world. Our society is lost and we’re suffering the economic consequences. The burial media inquisition is just another iteration. Trudeau is not a good steward of this land. Expect more adherence to international organizations that are unaccountable to Canadians.

  11. https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/canadas-trudeau-announces-legislation-prevent-buying-selling-handguns-2022-05-30/ Pixie-Dust has officially flown the coup. Now he wants to ban handguns and TOYS that look like handguns. I wonder if he thinks this will actually reduce their use by the criminals who use them? Is he really this stupid? Even the CBC agrees this proposal wouldn't help as most handgun violence is done by people with illegal guns. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/fact-check-gun-violence-1.6166328 Just one more swing and a miss by the little girl in our PM's office.

  12. No. I am not interested in some fight between Russia and Ukraine. We should stay the hell away from that mess. Fine use the army. As long as the job gets done, I don't care which armed unit does the deed.

  13. Yes, that's over 1.3 BILLION taxpayer dollars given only to media outlets that report favourably on Trudeau and downplay his scandals. But if you suggest that these Liberal government payouts affect their reporting in any way, you're a conspiracy theorist not a history buff. ?

  14. Trudeau gave $675M to the city of Mississauga for some transit crap, so now when you Google "Trudeau... $675M... CBC" all you get is info about his transit system payout. Gotta hand it to him, him and Google are working well together. I typed in $675 Million and found this one: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/liberals-pledge-675-million-in-cbc-funding/article29354285/ So, Trudeau's $675M, $600M and $61M pre- and post-election payments to media outlets are all here in this thread.

  15. If you are a hunter or shoot for sport (which I find questionable grounds for owning a weapon) you will be allowed to have your gun. I disagree that Canadians who already own handguns should be allowed to keep them. They either meet the new criteria, or surrender the weapons. The government can buy those weapons back from them.

  17. I have an RPAL and I own two handguns but I wouldn't be against making them illegal. I'd just want fair compensation for turning them in. I have no attachment to them at all, they're fairly useless TBH.

  21. Most Canadians are oblivious to how limited their freedoms are now because they’ve been socially conditioned by pandemic health and state propaganda. You’re not allowed to have different opinions from government or to oppose state mandated health programs. Very controlling left wing dictatorship. We’ve been trained to stay apart, at home, and to believe that family and religion are patriarchal and colonial. If your kids say they’re gay or queer in a job application, they’ll have more opportunity. Just follow the rules, say woke things, and everything will be fine.

  22. Nope, your stupid statement triggered me. Read the article before you make baseless comments. Being uninformed and incorrect seems to be your forte. BTW, I am far form a liberal supporter. If you hate the son, you should have been around for the fool of a father. And followed by idiot Chretien. The only liberal leader that may have been OK was Martin abut he even pissed off his own party and out he went.

  23. This part. Look how many Canadians now think taking away Charter rights with no scientific basis or health benefits or common sense, which the government has admitted repeatedly is only being done to force people to vaccinate and is only being done to be vindictive and punishing.....is normal in a democracy. Give away your rights, your children's rights, your grandchildren's rights to your peril. None of these generations will get them back easily.

  24. Premier Ernie Eves had to run a government under a condition like this, as I recall. When asked what would happen if he had to run a deficit he replied that they would just change the law.

  25. You might find him cute, but just because he wears nice socks doesn't mean that the things he is doing are healthy for our democracy, and the erosion of our democracy is something that you should care about. Freezing the banks accounts of people who donated to a peaceful protest is way over the line. Hatemongering from the PMO is way over the line. You should care when prominent liberal talk show hosts are drawing legitimate comparisons between our PM and Adolf Hitler, and our media is piling on instead of calling him out. You should care when our PM gives the CBC $675M for their blatantly favourable election coverage in 2015, then he gives $600M to "select media outlets" before the 2019 election, and then he gives another $61M to top secret media outlets before the 2021 election. You should care when our PM creates a law specifically for saving the bacon of a company that operates as a criminal entity and has a court-documented history of bribing Liberal politicians. You should really care when our PM, who has never gone to law school, assumes control of the AG's office to get it used, then shuts down investigations into it. You should care when the police use brutality against 100% peaceful protesters. The police in the US showed more restraint when they were being assaulted on many occasions. They had fireworks shot at them, they were pelted with rocks and water bottles, and they were physically assaulted on many occasions, yet there's no video of American cops assaulting people who had surrendered on their knees. You should care when reporters who are dislike by the PM get thrown to the ground on a regular basis. The vaccine mandates set a horrible precedent for our country. A serum that has been proven to have dangerous side effects and which confers almost no benefit on the patient was forced on tens of thousands of Canadians. Everyone who didn't take it was discriminated against in very real, meaningful ways. If someone who wasn't popular in your eyes made all of those changes to our country you'd be apoplectic, but you find him cute so you're ok with it, but just remember, if someone who you don't like gets elected, they still get to do all of those exact same things because they've been normalized. They next PM can assume control of the AG's office to keep criminal corporations in business, beat peaceful protesters, force people to inject dodgy serums into their arms, hatemonger on live tv, pay the media billions of dollars of taxpayer money, throw down reporters who question them, etc. This is a very different country from the one that Trudeau assumed control of 7 years ago and you're saying it's all good, but the changes were anti-democratic and oppressive.

  26. in 2020, 529 guns were seized in Toronto. 318 of them were illegal firearms. I suspect the same goes for every major city in the nation. Trudeau and the Libbies are simply grandstanding. All they'll do is make things worse for law abiding citizens.

  27. By a few. The rest of us are tired of it and tired of the few that keep harping on it. The problem is the overly dramatic comparisons with Hitler, communists, dictators, fascism and losing all freedoms and so on. Most Canadians tune that out now.

  28. I’ve never owned a gun besides a BB rifle at the lake cottage when I was a kid. But... the way life is going and the way government is allowing it, I’ve been thinking of a handgun for my home. Public vagrancy is now celebrated and encouraged. Home invasions are more common. Stepping over people sleeping in transit stations is becoming routine. When the PAYbec Punk says I can’t is precisely when it will happen and I have zero concern if it’s illegal or not.

  29. Gun control has been an issue in the US for many decades, through Democrat and Republican governments. Both parties are equally hypocritical when it comes to gun control.
    1 point
  30. Indeed. Twice. I'm not I big proponent of this 2nd ammendment. However...I'm not a US citizen and can't claim to fully understand why Americans are so gun crazy. I believe though...that it is disingenuous to be attacking the 2nd amendment while supporting a revolving door policy for illegal gun crime in the major cities. When the Libbies in the states are serious about both law and the 2nd amendment ... I think then the Republicans will listen. Until then...these Democrats are just hypocrites.

  33. I honestly no longer believe the spending and destruction of businesses and mental health had much to do with Covid. This was about seeing how many restrictions people could handle and government could get away with. It turns out quite a lot. People will never be the same. The pandemic was a good excuse to bring in greater controls over society, which is why the federal government refuses to remove them. They want this.

  37. Rumor has it that the people in the conservative party are starting to finally get their shit together, and are starting to act as one. It will be the only way that the conservative party will win in the next federal election. I do believe that Pierre Poilievre will become the leader of the conservative party, and there will be some big changes coming to the conservative party. There will be less liberal socialism in Canada, and more conservatism for Canadians. About bloody time. ?

  38. That's the way Canadian parliamentary democracies have always worked. Governments legislate, oppositions oppose. Vote against your party leadership and you risk getting turfed from you caucus.

  39. Why are you so against countries trying to form organizations intended to prevent conflicts, do you love wars?

  40. Inflation helps repayment of debt. So does fiscal restraint. Marc LaLonde was the liberal finance minister who reigned in inflation in the 1980's. Paul Martin, finance minister under Jean Chretien, built up large surpluses to pay down the debt inherited from the previous government. This proves it can be done. It also shows that it was the conservatives who were the big spenders and it was the liberals who were fiscally responsible...on ocassion. In reallity, it is not a party lable that makes the difference. It is the competence and political will of the individuals to get the buy-in from the voters to get the economy under control. Dealing with a deadly pandemic and a war with Russia doesn't help. The myth that war is good for the economy is well and truly discredited.

  41. There is no justification for putting up symbols in schools advocating for certain sexual lifestyles. There are many ways to show compassion towards students who feel marginalized because of their sexual orientation and/or identity. Hanging gay pride flags outside schools is advocating for certain sexual lifestyles. There’s no way to avoid this interpretation. Most children can’t make the kinds of nuanced interpretations that Hardner is making. I’m not sure what’s happening in other provinces, but the government of Ontario is allowing the grooming of young children in certain sexual behaviours when it allows the flying of LGBTQ+ flags outside schools.

  43. Well much as no one wants to be accused of being a paranoid conspiracy theorist nut job, there’s a very compelling theory that we should all consider as world events unfold to ensure that the theory remains just that. If people are crushed by debt and can’t afford the basic necessities, government is ripe to provide the “solution”, which is to essentially make the vast majority of people dependent on the state for food, housing, and the necessities of life. High inflation, carbon taxes, debt, restrictions, the use of heavy measures against protests, and public health passes are setting quite perfect conditions for such a scenario. In such a crisis the government holds all the cards, limiting freedoms to those who obey government health and safety measures. Most people will comply if it’s the choice between starvation and food or between virtual imprisonment and limited government-selected freedoms. The pandemic illustrated what governments can get away with during a perceived crisis. We should be very protective of our constitutional freedoms and private property. It’s very hard to have one without the other. “You will have nothing and be happy” sounds more like an order than a statement. Beware of shifting towards any kind of “Great Reset” to head off a “crisis.” Beware of the influence of unelected bodies and any justifications to suspend rights.
