Historically, the term "pandemic" has been applied to illnesses with very high fatality rates. NOW, the common ocld can be declared a "pandemic", because it's ony CASES that make a pandemic. Amazing. I started this yesterday and then became obsessed with checking. This is what I found: Shoes - Adidas made in Japan or China (this surprised me), NewBalance made in USA Jacket - Helly Hansen made in Bangladesh (another surprise) Phones - Samsung made in Korea. Laptops - Personal HP made in USA (components from China) - Work Lenovo made in China (IBM...go figure...) Kitchen appliances - Whirlpool made in USA / Keureg China (this surprised me) TV - RCA made in Korea Cloths - Levis made in China (again...I was surprised by this) - shirts of variety of makes made in China, Korea, USA and Bangladesh Cars - Chevy made in USA, VW made in USA Golf Clubs - Wilson made in USA, Callaway made in USA Hockey Equip. - Bauer made in Canada or Czech At this point my wife got testy and made me quit rummaging around. It was a frustrating evening for me. The more I dug and rummaged, the more I found "Made in China" on things I had not suspected were made in China. And my wife is especially strict about the "Made in China" label. We need to bring manufacturing back to North America. We actually try...or so I thought...to never buy Chinese made goods, but they have obviously gotten bought by us. I showed this to my wife just before posting. Apparently we're gonna do a better job of watching labels. I am really shocked that Levis are made in China. Now I have to find a new casual cloths maker.

I'm saying when Levi's and Apple and any US or Canada based company off-shores their manufacturing, they need to be charged at a rate that evens the playing field for our own manufacturing. I do not believe the governments really tried to sell the Buy American or Canadian message. You should talk to a contractor in your area, construction materials have tripled in price in the last 24 months, and so have labor costs, as there is as massive shortage of trades that are now demanding much more in wages....I was going to take advantage of the sky rocketing costs of homes here, and got a quote from a contractor the quote was 880,k thats 3600 square feet, 1800 up and 1800 down finished basement. Bare bones finishes or 250 dollars a square foot...no paved drive way, no detached garage, no landscaping, My realtor was going to list my home for 575 k, taking bids for one week and hope the bidding wars begin...i can't sell and not make as much as a new build would cost me...homes like mine in the same area are now going for 600K plus, most NB can not afford to purchase a home right now, the average wage is 36 k a year... the only ones buying are those moving from the big cities and working from home flush with cash from selling million dollar homes... So lack of supply is driving up homes for sure, but the only other option was to build and they are costing even more than a already built one.... The liberals can pump what ever into new construction, but with out the trades to build them this is only getting worse.. that and immigration can not continue at the rates they are set at, add to that growing families, up grading or down sizing everything is effecting the prices. And liberal policies right now are not going to do much to stop this whole ruckus...

I watch some of both and they do an at least so-so job on their real news reporting. Where FOX falls apart as a serious news outlet is in their editorial personalities. Where CNN has/had complete hacks like Chris Cuomo, at least they live on Planet Earth. Not surprising. Like I said before I've mostly supported the Conservatives my entire life. If I'm going to get screwed by the public sector or by corporations, I'll usually choose the corporations. Why? Because raising corporate tax rates or introducing new competition laws or regulations is relatively easy. Once a new public sector union contract is set, however, that's the new baseline. You can't go back anymore. Where you and I disagree is on identity politics, ideology and hyperbole.
