  1. That's what makes him a leader - he's making the tough calls. Sticking his neck out there. Thank god North America has one leader who's not just hiding under a blankie until the thing blows over.

  3. I agree wholeheartedly. Trump is alleged to have told 5 a day on average since his inauguration. He's not unlike Trudeau - another lying sack of shit if there ever was one.

  4. Most responsible humans are trying not to put and end point to this. We don't actually know when this all will go back to normal. But, I can tell you that the NBA, MLB or NHL won't be back by Easter, so it's probably a good idea for Mega Churches not be open either. It's prudent for people to under promise and over deliver. Trump's MO is to always over promise and then deny he ever made the promise in the first place.

  5. Nope. Anti-Malaria drugs might break the cycle down to where it's manageable. There was good reason for the shutdown, it's just that there's hope it can end soon.

  9. I also notice the near complete absence of airline traffic over head and no contrails. I would have thought the government's chemical spraying program would still be high on the list of essential services.

  10. We need to get the anti-body testing ramped up, so we can find out how many people already had the virus, recovered and now have immunity to it. Until then, we are flying blind and the mortality rates are going to look way higher than they actually are. There is a new study out of Oxford that says it's possible up to half of the UK has already been infected, didn't notice, and have become immune already, and the mortality rate could actually be as low or lower than the seasonal flu, and the UK's herd immunity strategy that they originally employed, was the way to go, not "flattening the curve". If this Oxford study is even close to right, then even I'm being a total SIFCLF about Coronavirus, and Nukedog had this right from the beginning, fake and gay. My confirmation bias of course wants that study to be right, so I'm keeping that in mind, but like I said, until we seriously ramp up the anti-body testing, we won't know for sure, one way or the other.

  11. Yes, but we will have to get to acceptable risk for the workplace that includes having the vast majority of the Canadian workforce at work. When unemployment numbers climb into the double digits, tax revenues can’t cover the cost of existing public services and cuts must be made. Yes, temporarily we can borrow the money and keep interest rates low. Those are short-term fixes, especially if we see unemployment settle in at around or above 20%. We may be at 30% right now, which means the clock is ticking. That’s why we need a clear, firm plan with timelines and contingency plans based on unexpected changes in the numbers. It’s better to go harder sooner with quarantine because it gets the economy rolling sooner. Probably the current criteria of essential services is fine for this temporary period, but we have to be ready to adjust policy on a dime.

  12. It's like my Company Sergeant Major in Charles Company 1st Battalion, MWO Dave Preeper The guy was out of the movies, he was like a f*ckin superman. You had no fear in the presence of Dave Preeper, other than fear of his wrath. This is him here, he actually lives just up the road from me now https://ca.linkedin.com/in/dave-preeper-7498648a Still looks the same, hasn't aged a day, which is no surprise, since he was fitter than God himself If I'm ever in real trouble, this is the guy I am going to call, and woe be to they who would want to f*ck with us then. 13. Like I said, we're not proposing months of house arrest and 100% isolation. That's a straw-man that folks like Trump are tossing around. Everyone can't stay home. Parts of the economy still MUST function. We know that. That being said, the virus will cripple large parts of the economy regardless of what we do. Whether governments impose self-isolation or not, people aren't going to be spending money. Until the anxiety and uncertainty we're dealing with shows signs of resolving, people won't be travelling, going to restaurants, playing sports and certainly won't be making big-ticket purchases when there are mass-layoffs and global supply-chain problems. The idea that we just lift the shutdown measures and things go back to economic-normal isn't base on reality. To oversimplify, we're looking at a shorter-term reduction to something like 35% economic capacity so that we can get back to 75% capacity over the coming months, and then more quickly to 100% capacity in 2021. The alternative is that we limp along at 65% capacity, things get much worse, and then we drop down to <50% anyways and it lasts far, far longer, with far worse long-term consequences. Those percentages are all made up, so don't overthink the "math". I'm just trying to illustrate the idea. It's what I'm hearing daily on conference calls with Canadian and US macro-economists and investment strategists managing hundreds of billions. We cannot separate the health impact from the economic impact. As one goes down the crapper, the other follows.

The standards in the RCR : civilians would call it crazy You don't even have to go to war, just being in the RCR can give you PTSD, it's that intense. Troops in the army who are not RCR also call us crazy The RCR will make you iron hard, or break you trying You have no idea, I'm actually laid back, by RCR standards.

  15. So you're saying that the WHO isn't taking direction from the scientists, doctors, epidemiologists and "immunologists" that work for/with it? You're better a better judge of this sort of research? No doubt there's a lot of bureaucracy involved with UN organizations, but the D E E P S T A T E corruption theories can explain away literally everything if you're willing to do a bit of mental gymnastics.

  18. Places with a destroyed economy in a war tend not to do well, especially compared to economies that are far more intact, who knew? South Korea knows, and they would kick Canada's ass in a war too. It's like you always say, war is logistics, and completely shutting down the economy in a panic via government decree, isn't good for logistics.

  28. This thing is just getting started, wait for it, in coming weeks it is only going to get worse.... one of the reasons it is going to get worse is people like you with the attitude that this is all some game...., these precautions are not only for your safety but others as well , like your family, friends anyone you come into contact with, or ones that are forced to come into contact with you once your sick.....like doctors, hospital staff , EMT, etc etc.... one person can effect hundreds... As time goes on your not going to have a chioce, to follow new directives.... and all government agencies will start cracking the whip, taking away more of your civil liberties...because their is always one in the crowd....that ruins it for everyone else...

  30. Michael Hardener, here is the document Shady mentioned (H.R. 6379) As my friend would say, prove it to yourself! Section 207 is the 'Minority depository institution' section, and the #00 000 000 Refugee and Migration is under BILATERAL ECONOMIC ASSISTANCE I like how they earmarked $635 000 000 for the arts and humanities (we all know this will be spent ala adrienne clarkson, fancy parties and trips for friends), and the mental health services aspect only gets $435 000 000, that they have to split with substance abuse (haha! oh they care alright).

  31. I agree with your statistical analysis and observations. It seems you have some experience with counting. This made me think about how the virus kills those who are already near death, the elderly with respiratory or heart conditions. If any of those poor souls get the virus, it shall be lethal. For example, Person X is in an old age home, bedridden, and will soon pass on. Why? Because that is just the way of things. Then, the virus blows through the old-age home, and person X gets it and expires. Reason for death was the virus. This is what I've started to wonder as well. It's possible the virus has already been among us undetected for a long time. Nobody would even know.

  35. I think Easter is a stretch goal that would mark the beginning of recovery, even if only symbolic (i.e. "resurrection"). The important thing that Trump understands is the need to stop further economic destruction and the much longer lasting impact of that compared to COVID-19 deaths. Americans will not hide out in their homes for many months or years. It reminds me of a scene from the 1979 film "The Warriors" set in New York City when they were outnumbered and being chased by the Baseball Furies gang through a Manhattan park, wherein they decided to stop running and fight back. Trump will either benefit from this biggly, or crash and burn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrEmF4SK3T4

  38. No thanks. I would rather be exposed to the minor inconveniences of too much liberty than those attending too small a degree. Thomas Jefferson I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery. Thomas Jefferson my mind is mine alone, not the governments my body is mine alone, not the governments there are many, many places in the world where people can live 'freely' as mere cogs in their machine, can we who revel in freedom (not anarchy mind you) have a couple of countries?

We need the kind of checks and surveillance on those who have been found positive like they have in South Korea and Taiwan. With that all in place we can start getting people back to work again.
