The worst effect of Operation Ajax's success however was clearly on the west - it pumped us up so full of ourselves we saw fit to set and prop up dictators and BS our way into conflicts like there was no tomorrow. Mossadeq acting like a thug and 'nationalizing' the oil industry in order to ship oil to the Soviet Union was really pushing it in 1953...the COLD WAR...he was lucky the Army didn't shoot him.
