Probably not if trump ends up causing another war that blows it all up.  But that's ok, that countries already a shithole anyway.

Didn't stop PM Martin & Canada from begging George W. Bush for access to oil services contracts in Iraq....AFTER the US/UK invasion.   LOL !

We know Saddam had VX because he used the stuff.

He had a super gun on order...with a Canadian HARP engineer heading the project. You don't buy one of those for duck hunting.

Nukes were a ways off...but as Tel Aviv found out...ballistic missiles were a fact.

So was the blowback.

The US has done a lot of things, including regime changes, since WWII that hasn't resulted in any major blowback.  That's why they do such things, because they often work, especially in  smaller less powerful countries.  Sometimes their ops blow up in their faces via blowback or whatnot.  C'est la vie.

True...and not just the U.S.

Canada led the plot to kidnap and topple Haiti's democratically elected president in 2004.

Actually, life under The Shah was pretty good for the majority of Iranians...the Empress was big into women's liberation and The Shah disliked the Mullahs as much as they disliked him.

Who do you think he was putting the screws to? Ignorant fishermen?

:D

Thousands of ordinary Iranians.

The 12 people and things that ruined Iran

The Shah is 4th on the list immediately following Knox D’Arcy and Kermit Roosevelt.

As for the Shah - a close friend of the West's...

Quote

In 1979, radical Islamists overthrew the Iranian government ruled by the hereditary king or "shah" of Iran, Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlavi (1919–1980). One of the grievances that the rebels cited against his regime was its use of torture, especially by the secret police force SAVAK (Sazeman-i Ettelaat va Amniyat-i Keshvar, or Organization for Intelligence and National Security). In a 1976 document, Amnesty International detailed some of SAVAK's torture practices and stated that the shah's regime was one of the worst human rights violators in the world.

But like I said, the worst effect of Operation Ajax was how it inspired the US and its allies into becoming geopolitical vandals of the worst kind - self-righteous ones.

Nope...happened long before that.    See "Gunboat diplomacy".

More Iranians emigrated to Los Angeles than to "Tehronto".

Yup...it got bad near the end. Do you know why...just off the top of your head? No? Don't blame you.

Iran became allied to Israel under the Shah infuriating the clergy who'd have none of that dealing with the Joooos jazz. In the countryside, they preached that the un-Islamic Shah was hanging with the evil Unbeliever...the cursed ones...the Jews. They flocked to Tehran in droves to voice their anger. Voila...yer shock troops of the Revolution. No doubt every faction vying for power tried to take advantage of that anger.

The US was shipping Jews back to Hitler's ovens long before they fucked Iran over.  Do you know why...just off the top of your head? No? Don't blame you.

Iran 1953 was a walk in the park next to the Phoenix Program.

George Bush Sr reigned-in the cowboys of the organization soon after leaving Viet-Nam, if I recall.

The US had a quota system. The St Louis sat in Cuban waters waiting for the next quota intake...like many others. The Cubans ruthlessly blackmailed the passengers...then evicted them back to Germany before the intake began. The US had no part in that...nor in the captain's decision to return to Hamburg Germany...his home port.

Iran had made moves to join-in on Hitler's Operation Barbarossa in 1941...Stalin installed the Shah at that point....after invading and nearly getting to the oil fields. The British had invaded to counter Uncle Joe and frantically occupied the oil fields just in-time.

I sense your anger, young Skywalker...

PS...when the St Louis incident occurred, it was well before the start of the actual Holocaust (Einsatzgruppen, Wannsee Conference, etc.)

Laugh all you want...they did...well aware they'd be swamped without one...seeing the WAR...which they hadn't entered.

:D

The US turned away thousands of Jews not just one boatload.

Laugh all you want but America was complicit in the deaths of thousands of Jews long before 1979 and the downfall of your beloved bloodthirsty Shah who was likewise complicit in the deaths of thousands of innocent human beings.

Seems no matter where you look when Americans are involved thousands upon tens and hundreds of thousands of innocent human beings die horrible awful deaths at the hands of tyrants.

The blind hatred towards Trump is really somehow ununderstandable since he is really no exception to any of his predecessors. An Israel first-President. One of his promises in the election in 2016, apart from the Mexican wall, was to pull America out of these pointless foreign wars.

So in one post you say

1) he's no exception

2) puts Israel ahead of all priorities

3) vows to pull America out of wars

I think it's exceptional.  Maybe it's me.
