And the federal government already spends 3 trillion dollars a year on welfare, food stamps, health care etc. Besides, with record low unemployment, shouldn’t food stamp use be down anyways? No. Each year tens of thousands of people enter America illegally. It might even be higher. The current total estimate is somewhere between 10 million and 20 million people. Almost the entire population of Canada! How many millions more before you recognize the problem and stop denying? I agree that visas are part of the problem too. My ex neighbour had been living here three years after her visa expired, until she got deported. How did they catch her? Her husband went back to Greece to visit his parents. When he got back he was flagged because his visa was expired (obviously) Both got deported despite an appeal. Their daughter too. There are millions of people coming from all sorts of countries to the u.s. and Canada who just disappear when their visas expire, but the government cant keep track of them all.
