"If Trump gets elected "he will pull the US out of NATO". Not might... Will." This is not a lie.. this is a prediction. A lie would akin to saying that the Arizona Diamondbacks are the reigning World Series champions. That event has passed and it is established fact that Texas Rangers won. Trump being elected has not occurred this time, 2024. To echo another poster.. all politicians do lie. I work with them. They are all equally phony and disingenuous.

Parks is where you will see this though. We have it in Reno. The middle class family takes the kid to the park and finds it full of homeless people. So then next time.. they go to another part of town and therefore zero chance that you take your kid to get ice cream or whatever. This is a problem with no easy solution. To simply round them all up and put them in jail does not work and there are case studies to show this. To incarcerate someone costs money and time. Ask a member of law enforcement whether they would rather cite someone for vagrancy, take them to jail, and then do it all over again in 3 to 4 days OR work in a much bigger case such as murder, rape, drug trafficking.. the latter wins out. Society also values the latter over the former.

You breeze over where I mentioned "hybrids".. typical internet forum poster.. all passion, no intellect. If you truly want to make a case.. show some raw data not cherry picked internet articles. Show the absolute number of proven cases by year and place... I know that goes beyond your skill set. If you want an example of raw data (no summarizations, no articles).. look below. https://www.bls.gov/cew/data.htm

Pro-Hamas Rallies in Canada
impartialobserver replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Anyone that cares about politics is the same. They want you to care about the topics that they care about. They want you to have the same morals, values, etc as them. If you do not.. then you can eff off and blah, blah, blah... -
I have had political fatigue for quite some time so welcome to the club, aristides.

What was so awful about it?

I have done enough research to know that they are practical for myself now. A bit pricey but in most cases, they do the job fine. I do not agree with mandates being as they are expensive and do have a few more issues. Besides some folks need a genuine truck for work and in the winter.. commuting. Back to the point though. I do not do this because of some deep seated need to be a climate change warrior. as for censorship.. this is not censorship. This is more selective ignoring. Censorship would be the person being banned from posting. This is where folks simply do not look at your stuff.

What is you opinion on career Politicians?
impartialobserver replied to CrazyCanuck89's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If I was in control of the US senate and house of representatives.. I would impose term limits. 2 terms in the Senate and 4 for the House. Career politicians do not get better with age. Job experience does not help them. They get worse with age. -
not the biggest lie but a close second is that marijuana is a gateway drug. This idea that you will proceed up the ladder in perfect predictable order.. Yeah, well my life experiences growing up in the trailer park do not line up with this at all.

I have experience with being truly homeless and so know the plight intimately. This is not where I lived in my car because my next home was being built. No.. It was moving to SLC in 1999 and my job falling through. They hired me technically but upon arriving on August 21.. they told me that I was not needed and so started the shi$storm. That being said, I spent 8 weeks on the street and can say that most that I encountered were there by choice. yes, they would have moved into an apartment if given it but they chose to not have jobs and all that comes with it. Second, most were drug addicts and that dictated their life. The city of Salt lake had similar laws. We got around them by sleeping in abandoned buildings, alleyways, and in parks where you could not be seen from the road.

on the U.S side.. West Virginia leads the way in fentanyl use and overdoses. It used to lead the way in oxycontin use and deaths but they put the brakes on that and so the users replaced it with fentanyl. There is no data that says this explicitly but my guess is that this is why WV is depopulating and having a hard time luring in outsiders.

Average home price in my neck of the woods.. $525k. So $750 mortgage is a bit unrealistic but still its funny. -
the labor shortage in the US that came during and after Covid 19 was deceptive. In the most general and absolute terms.. no there was no shortage. However, in certain industries and cities the number of applicants was well below that of the stated need. The most publicized was fast food and limited service (Denny's or Chilis) restaurants in mid to large cities. Were all industries affected? no. Mining and high end manufacturing (anything but food) were not struggling to find folks. I can understand why someone would try their best to move on from fast food and limited restaurants. A lot of not so great customers, relatively low pay (in comparison to others) and frequently not the most family friendly hours.
