Trump Indicted!!!
impartialobserver replied to Rebound's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Personally, do not care if Newsom wore a mask at that dinner or not. All I know is that Monterey is deep, deep blue and yet even they were tired of it. It is already an incredibly expensive place to operate and now add uncertainty of regulation and it would make it nearly impossible. -
Trump Indicted!!!
impartialobserver replied to Rebound's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I went to Monterey in may 2021 and those that i met with and spoke to... did not like Newsom. The main reason was not because he is a Democrat. They were tired of the strictness and heavy handed approach to the pandemic. One day, your business was ok but then the next day, regulation xyz would come about, and now you are not ok. -
You move the goal posts. Economics is not a hard science like physics where you can test a phenomena and get the same result every time. Micro is about the individual person, family, or company. Not sure why you bristle at this so much. Look up definition of microeconomics with a google search and you will find the word, "individual" in most, if not all, of them.

Know the signs of White Supremacy
impartialobserver replied to reason10's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Again, opinions. Yes, they may have created the legislation but the motives are nothing but subjective opinions. -
So first question.. its a big one. Would being taken to this "work camp" be voluntary? Could they leave at any time? If not, it is prison. Therefore you would need to prove that they violated the law and did so in such a way as to merit forced imprisonment. I know that you differ but the vast majority of citizens would not put vagrancy in the same class as rape, murder, or robbery.

I think that there a lot of legal and logistical factors that you are discounting in the name of convenience. The homeless are not all mentally ill and crazy nor are they violent. Quite a few are mentally ill... as for my source, life experience. I spent time on the street in 1999 and so have first hand knowledge and not just driving by in the safety of my car and taking shots. The first and largest quandary in your theory is that of it being voluntary. If it is voluntary.. you win. If it is involuntary. you run into a whole slough of legal issues. Hopefully, you do not need me to spell out how involuntarily rounding them up and forcing them to work has some legal issues wrapped in it.

Know the signs of White Supremacy
impartialobserver replied to reason10's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
That is an opinion. No more and no less. -
decent idea IMO. In most places, this would demand a massive increase in the police budget and corrections as well. Something that most are not willing to do. We have a disproportionate high number of homeless here in Reno. When someone brings up your ideas, they give the funding number needed and the subsequent increase in taxation and the room goes silent.. followed by next topic.

Liberal budget a perfect symbol of who they are
impartialobserver replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No matter who it is.. when you have financial trouble, there are two ways to resolve it. Increase revenue or decrease spending. One has vastly more control over the second and therefore it should be the easier of the two routes. However, in federal governments... they almost always opt for the first. I do not know about Canada but as for the US.. two things could drastically reduce the budget. First, contribute less to the public employee retirement. Second, do away with use-it-or-lose-it grant funding. I could ramble for pages but find that keeping it short keeps the reader from falling asleep. -
Liberal budget a perfect symbol of who they are

This thread encapsulates why I have no respect for the two main parties in the US and their followers. Neither truly want a balanced budget or anything resembling fiscal responsibility. The only difference between the two is where they spend their money errr... extend their credit. I work with politicians directly for 3 months every year. Any doubt as to their true motives gets washed away during those times. -
Why Does 40% Of Gen Z Identify as LGBT?
impartialobserver replied to Deluge's topic in Sex and Gender Issues
I have a hard time buying into this 40% number. Yes, I know that it comes from a published source. Not all sources produce substantial content.
